Dokapon Kingdom continues on a confluence of unusual events that end with hitting what amounts to a 20% critical hit and it's all TW's fault. At this point I don't even know if people care who wins as long as it's somebody. Good. Dokapon is doing its job. Maybe it's over by now. Maybe not.
Created in 1988, Ninja Gaiden was originally known as Ninja Ryukenden, which would translate to originally as ”Legend of the Ninja Dragon Sword.” Developed by Tecmo (now named Koei Tecmo) The first Ninja Gaiden game was an arcade beat em up, in the vein of Double Dragon and was very well received. Even in saying that, many who played the game regarded it as being far too difficult, which would basically foreshadow things to come for the series that starred the legendary ninja hero Ryu Hayabusa. We continue our Americana month with one of the most patriotic games of all time: Bad Dudes vs. DragonNinja! What's more American than being rewarded for saving Ronald Reagan from an outside threat by getting to eat hamburgers with the president? More importantly: is this iconic arcade classic worth getting pumped about? Or does it show its age more than Sylvester Stallone rebooting Rambo? It was a big week for new releases, so we spend some time giving our impressions on the Playstation 5 and the 35th Anniversary Nintendo Game and Watch! Also, will Civilization 6 give Andrew a midlife crisis? Support this podcast
Are you a bad enough dude or dudette to listen to this episode? That's right, we're talking about the game that sounds like it was made by an 80s word generator (and probably was) - Bad Dudes Vs. DragonNinja. The President has been kidnapped! What will it take to get Blade and Striker - the baddest sweatpant-wearing dudes in NYC - to go rescue him? Some machismo and a side of hamburgers, evidently. Who are the DragonNinja? How many lives can you justify taking to rescue a President? How many curse words can we say each episode and still keep our PG-13 status? We also make the perfect pitch for a Bad Dudes movie, marvel at Data East's attention to detail, and wonder how bad you have to be to jump through helicopter blades.

"The president is missing," you say? "Christ, I wish!" Sorry, that's not what this book is about, though. This episode drops the bucket down into the ever-reliable well of James Patterson and when we pull it back up we find that it's also got a few viscous droplets of ol' Bill Clinton mixed in. In The President Is Missing, we encounter a red-blooded, two-fisted kind of President of the United States, the kind of rugged leader who isn't afraid to...call terrorist leaders on the phone...or...go to a baseball game in disguise to meet with a possible source of information, the kind of guy with exactly two friends: a movie star who doesn't need anybody's help to resolve sexual harassment issues, and a venture capitalist who got rich on tech companies he brags about not understanding. Look, we're not going to pretend this one makes a whole lot of sense. But hey, at least when this president drones on and on, it doesn't end up costing anybody their lives. If you're ready for a president who writes poems to square off against bad guys who thought of everything, but one thing they forgot: the United States has helicopters and knows how to use them, then you just might be ready for ... The President Is Missing. Has it really been 18 years since the launch of the PlayStation 2? We look back on cherished memories with the games we loved on Sony's beloved console. Does the PS2 stand the test of time? Let us know your thoughts! The news are flowing this week starting with the debut of Atari's new console at GDC. We then cover some key retro releases including Sega Genesis Collection, Bad Dudes vs. Dragon Ninja, Moon Patrol, and more! Then there's the release of a smartphone case that doubles as a portable retro gaming device, and a hacker on YouTube shows how he got a Sony Watchman to work with a Nintendo Switch. The Stage of History this week swings for the fences with Nintendo's Tennis, then jumps back to the future with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Robert brings the mood down with the PS2 deep cut Darkwatch in Obscura. We also have our usual game giveaways, as well as the big 100 episode giveaway for the SNES Classic! Instead of Random Select this week, Robert springs on some interviews during the Far Cry 5 event he attended, so don't miss out on those either.
