Stampede - Know Like Trust
The Evolution of Michelle Robinson From Nanny to Crypto Queen

Stampede - Know Like Trust

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 17, 2022 54:22

In a world of centralized control, one woman's journey to build a crypto community teaches her the importance of balance between rebel and establishment. "The community gives it its value." Michelle Robinson is a cryptocurrency expert and the founder of Cryptocrate. She has been involved in the crypto community for over five years and is passionate about helping others learn about and use cryptocurrency. This is Michelle Robinson's story... Michelle Robinson has been involved in the crypto space for 5 years and has seen the industry grow and change. She shares her story of how she got interested in crypto, starting with hearing about it from a family member in 2013. She then got into 3D printing and saw how crypto was being used to pay for things in that industry. In 2017, a friend gave her some bitcoin, and she finally got interested in the space. She then started managing the Utah Bitcoin Community. In 2019, she partnered with a friend to do a crypto-themed balloon festival, which was a success. She believes that regulation is necessary in the crypto industry but that there needs to be a balance between centralized and decentralized control. In this episode, you will learn the following: 1. Michelle Robinson's experiences with cryptocurrency, including her involvement with the Utah Bitcoin Community 2. The concept of partnerships in business and how they can be beneficial or not 3. The importance of community in driving the value of cryptocurrency Summaries: 1) Troy Meister is hosting a podcast with Bobby Glenn James today. Troy Meister has been thinking about audience building lately. They will talk about branding with Michelle. Stampedeme.com is where you go to get your free marketing dashboard. 2) Michelle was born in the city, and she's been in the crypto space for about five years now. She's been involved with the community and now with her business. Michelle loves cooking, gardening and boring things like that. She was born on a sidewalk in a city. 3) In 2013 when she was working as a nanny. She heard about bitcoin. She fell in love with the space. In 2017, one of her friends gave her $500 worth of bitcoin. He has been in the Crypto space since 2013 and he was mining and everything. The Utah bitcoin community has been around since 2013. started almost ten years ago. 4) Cryptocrate is a bootstrapped startup built by Michelle. She has never had a partnership with the business, but she could see where it could be a possibility in the future. She had a great success with the collaboration with the Balloon Festival. In order for something to be adopted, there needs to be trust in it, and people need to get exposed to it. Marketing always boils down to know like trust. The other cool thing about Crypto and NFTs and stuff like that is that it's community driven. 5) Some of the more successful cryptocurrencies are letting a little bit of regulation come in. Michelle is torn between her original rebel side of why she loves crypto and the need to have balance with both. In crypto and the blockchain, everybody can see anything and everything that's going on. If I go look at somebody's etherscan and I can see exactly what their wallet is doing. 6) People are being inspired to be responsible for the success of their own money. People are taking responsibility for the overall health of the financial system. GameStop is a good example. Netflix could have its own community. 7) In business. There are some good companies that make a lot of money and some evil ones that make lots of money by doing not so good things. 8) Cryptocrate is a company that provides gift boxes with crypto-themed items for clients. Michelle explains to the audience why she started. Entrepreneurship is a lot of work, and there are ups and downs. But the secret to success is not to quit.

As I mentioned in the first episode, I am temporarily living in Kanab while waiting for the lockdown of COVID-19 to end. So far, I have gotten the chance to meet some wonderful people here and visit the attractions around and I totally fell in love with this little town that is one of the fastest-growing ones in the US.Kanab really differentiates itself from all the surrounding towns in Southern Utah. It’s a town that’s eclectic, it’s got an art gallery, it’s sophisticated, and it has incredible food. When I was looking for what has really defined this town, I found three people that I think have really been the leaders in the community and have helped define Kanab’s personality. In today’s episode, I’m talking to the first of these three people, Travis Mitchell – the founder and director of Canyons Collection, which is a collection of four different properties with four different moods: Canyons Boutique Hotel (Classic Elegance); Canyons Lodge (Rustic Chic); Quail Park Lodge (Retro Cool); The Flagstone, which is a boutique inn & suites.Listen to Episode 02 of Moving Beyond Acronyms, to find out how Kanab has evolved in the past years since Travis moved here, why you should come and visit this wonderful city and also, what Travis does to communicate his message and his vision regarding the four properties he’s managing. Some questions I ask:Tell us a little bit about yourself, and how did you get into the hotel business? (06:07)What would you say has been the success factor of actually people still coming here in the midst of COVID-19? (12:09)What has surprised you about the people that come to your properties? (20:12)When did you guys start thinking about the Balloon Festival, the Film Festival – and was it like a community thing or who came up with them? (25:18)How did you grow the business? (27:06)What have you learned from this whole experience? (30:14)What’s your advice for someone that’s trying to communicate a message or something that they have in their heart? (35:48)What is your favorite word? Or what is your favorite commercial? (36:54)In this episode, you will learn:How Kanab was like a few years ago. (10:00)About the four properties included in the Canyons Collection. (15:14)How the properties bring together people from different groups that bond and end up being friends. (16:45)About the ways Kanab is being promoted, locally. (21:51)A business strategy that didn’t work for Travis. (30:36)How Travis managed to communicate his message and his vision to his employees. Taunggyi is the 'cool' capital of Shan state in eastern Myanmar. Perched on a lush mountain ridge, it's home to Intha, Pa-O, and Shan ethnic tribes. Interact with its beautiful people, and natural scenery; the large city also has colorful markets and an assortment of Shan dishes to enjoy. The showstopper attraction here is the fire balloon festival that Taunggyi hosts at the Awayyar field, where thousands of enthusiasts from across the country gather to witness this unique event. The Taunggyi Fire Balloon Festival is an annual celebration and local competition during the Tazaungdaing 'Festival of Lights' month in Myanmar. Join in for this extravaganza that lasts anywhere from a week to ten days, where locals compete, showcasing their handcrafted fire balloons decorated with paintings and lanterns, and some of them paired with homemade pyrotechnics. Apart from makeshift rooftop lounges, karaoke bars, and street foods, there are human-powered amusement rides, and stalls selling a variety of produce to keep the vibe going. When you travel here, check the Myanmar local calendar for details about the opening and closing ceremony dates. Things to do when in Taunggyi: - Explore the Pa-O villages in the hills around - Visit Kakku - Wine tasting at Aythaya Vineyard ******* Show cover jingle courtesy of Icons8 Music by Nordgroove from Fugue Incidental music and background tunes include Myanmar songs and live chants at the festival, and photographs by Nikhil Shankar

Here in the US and elsewhere in the northern hemisphere, airshow season is either here or right around the corner. Weâ??re making some early calls to some of the performers that youâ??ll see this summer to get a preview of the upcoming season and to find out a little more about what makes them tick.Michael Mancuso is a fixture on the airshow circuit and this is his 10th year doing shows. He has 7,000 hours total time and commercial and instructor certificates. He started flying gliders at age 11 and soloed for the first time when he was 13. He and his family own Mid Island Air Service on Long Island in New York and Michael started Gyroscopic Obsessions in 1995 to teach aerobatics. He competed in IAC aerobatics from 1992 to 1997 and then spent from 1998 to 2000 with the Northern Lights.Michael flies the Klein Tools Extra 300L. The 300L is about 23 feet long and nine feet tall at the tail, and has a wingspan of about 25 feet. Itâ??s powered by a Textron Lycoming AEIO 540-L1B5 300 horsepower engine connected to an MT three-blade prop that pulls the aircraft through the air at 170 knots when cruising at 75% power. Itâ??ll get off the pavement in 315 feet, climb at more than 3,000 feet per minute, pull plus and minus 10 gâ??s, and do all kinds of crowd-pleasing gyrations between its 55-knot stall speed and Vne of 220 knots. The aircraft is built in Germany and certified in the United States. We caught up with Michael as he was preparing to head down to Sun-n-Fun to talk about the Extra, aerobatics, airshows, and flight training, and we even got to talk a little about light sport aircraft.Letâ??s go to the interview.[Interview audio.]A couple of administrative notes and other cool things for you. We've added a voicemail system so that you can leave us feedback and enter some of the upcoming contests! Call 206-339-8697 any time - day or night and leave us voice mail. It's a Seattle number, but it's free to me, so that's all that matters! And it's always free when you call from work (thanks, TMBG!).No, I haven't moved to Jet City. Still here in southeast Michigan waiting for the frost to melt off the planes so I can get up and train without turining the airplane into a Cessna-cicle.To get us warmed up, let's kick off the first contest of the year. Call the Airspeed voice mail line and leave us a short message telling us one thing about aviation that non-pilots don't experience and probably won't understand until they get up. For me, the main thing that comes to mind is flying with a head cold and feeling like my face is caving in during descent. Or what it's like to fly with just your wheels in the clouds. But I'll bet that you guys can come up with even more funny, strange, and inspiring observations. Call us at 206-339-8697 and leave us your observations. Also, please leave us your e-mail or other contact information because the best observation gets an Airspeed embroidered logo hat and we'll need to know where to send this standard-setting garment of 21st century aviation that will surely soon to take its place next to the silk scarf and the bomber jacket in the pantheon of aviation icons.Lastly, but not leastly, there's good news from The Pilotcast! Everybody loves the video content that The Pilotcast has posted of late, but many of us miss the hangar-flying sessions with Pilot Mike, Pilot Dan, and Pilot Kent. the've recorded a new hanger-flying episode that should be up very shortly. If you haven't checked the Pilotcast feed lately, watch it over the next few days for the new episode. The Pilotcast is one of my two favorite hangar-flying shows on the net and I'm delighted that they're back talking shop.
