Unlike the janitor of this film, we have a lot to say about Willy's Wonderland. Totally not a rip off of 5 nights at Freddy's or the Banana Splits Movie, or Child's Play. This movie is SOOOO much its own thing, with likeable characters and a coherent plot with justified motivations. And the conversations i had with Nic Cage in this episode are absolutely 100% real, and this episode is short. We have merch now! Follow us on Twitch for listening parties and just hanging out. I have a list of over 200 films I share with potential guests if they need help choosing a movie for Overhated. But this guest didn't even need the list. She offered up the 2002 vampire flick Queen of the Damned, and I thought "hell, that's a good pick." So thanks to Danishka Esterhazy (@desterhazy), director of the lovably twisted Banana Splits Movie and the admirably amusing new Slumber Party Massacre remake, for a great movie pick and a highly enjoyable chat.

The Classic Film: Don't Panic (1987) "On his seventeenth birthday, Michael unwittingly unlocks the evil forces of a Ouija board” (IMDb.com). In this episode of Crossing the Stream we are looking at The Banana Splits Movie. Childhood nostalgia turns into an Adult nightmare. We discuss our relationships with the original property. Leigh having never heard of it, whereas it was a huge part of Simon's childhood growing up. What must the initial pitch been like to get this made? We talk about the characters and how utterly unrelatable and unlikeable most of them are. Kills, Kills & more Kills! this is one brutal film, we break down the kills, the gore and just how much this movie surprised us with how far it went. We get into The Banana Splits themselves and how they are utilised in this movie, as well as some of the films shortcomings and moments where it could have got more creative. We also have some fun talking about other kids shows we would love to see be given a horror makeover. All of this and plenty more in this fun filled episode. Episode 3 of Season 2! Host, Gratton Conwill and special guest, Matt Fields discuss The Banana Splits Movie (2019). Day 3 The Banana Splits Movie 1h 29m Released on July 18th 2019, The Banana Splits Movie was directed by Canadian filmmaker Danishka Esterhazy. The screenplay was written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas. The film is a reimagining of the 1968 children's tv show The banana splits adventure hour. Although Chopping mall from 1986 and the original child's play are cited as inspiration for the banana splits movie, notable connections have been made between this movie and the five nights at Freddy's video game franchise. As a result, The Banana Splits Movie has a small cult following. Initial reviews were mostly favorable with critics embracing the absurd premise and elements of horror comedy. Being one of the more contemporary movies on our list, it remains to be seen what legacy, if any, The Banana Splits movie will have in the coming years. But because of its bizarre nature, it seemed worth including for variety if nothing else. The Banana Splits Movie has: 2.6 out of 5 on Letterboxd 5.1 out of 10 on IMDb 63% on rotten tomatoes 73% on google 5.97 Average CTS score From the creators of Giant Monster BS: Gratton Conwill and Matt Fields bring you Only In Amityville season 2: Escape from Amityville! (A Ben and Fiona episode - prepare for an Irish potty mouth and bullshit trivia)"Strap on your balls, Fiona; we're off to record an episode on Willy's Wonderland" were the words lovingly scribbled into Fiona's Valentines' card. And, as luck would have it, this episode was recorded on the big day and thus could double up as Fiona's Valentine's day gift, phew! We find Nic cage silently making his way through an array of chatty satanic possessed cuddly animatronics, one's which are definitely not found in Five Nights at Freddy's, The Banana Splits Movie or Child's Play. The young cast, YouTubers, and all could have done with following Cage's lead and remaining mute throughout.Mercifully, a beret sporting Alligator finally puts pay to Bob and his Harley Quinn GF; I had a super happy fun time watching the couple get slaughtered. Maybe popping on to youtube and looking up 80's slasher teen deaths may have helped Bob and co avoid becoming a cliché "Pass me a sick bucket as that acting be wicked!"If I could ask G.O. Parsons, the creator of this carnage, one thing, it would be the following: Where could a man procure himself a beret similar to the one so elegantly sported by Arty Alligator? Oh, and to explain to Fiona why he made Nic Cage's character 'The Janitor' mute, she couldn't get past it. So, two questions, please, G.O.! (We had a great time with the film btw G.O. The gang sits down this week to dissect how a beloved Children's show turned into a crazy horror film as they review "The Banana Splits Movie"
We now return you to your regularly scheduled program. Another Octoberama has come and gone and boy, are my arms tired. We get back on track with a regular episode, kicking off with a Real World Horror story about an online petition attempting to shut down self proclaimed "extreme haunt" (and proclaimed-by-others "torture tour) McKamey Manor. The rest of Horror Business features an intriguing studio attempting to obtain the rights to A Nightmare on Elm Street, a new TV series based on Dante's Inferno, and an ambitious new horror franchise based on New Orleans' LaLaurie Mansion from the creators of The Conjuring. We also talk about Paul Fieg's Dark Army and of course, a new project starring Nicolas Cage. For our film reviews, we've got the new Stephen King adaptation from Netflix, In the Tall Grass, as well as the off-the-wall new adaptation of a beloved 60's kids show, The Banana Splits Movie. So put on your fuzzy slippers, grab a cold one, and enjoy a brand new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast. I don't care if you're at work, just do what I say!
No, the bloody movie didn't ruin your childhood, your parents did. This time around I'm looking at two modern movies. The comedic horror iteration known as The Banana Splits Movie (2019) and a great piece of Chinese action/fantasy/detective cinema from 2018, Detective Dee: The Four Heavenly Kings. Gore and wuxia, what more can you want? Still reeling from our very special episode on The Matrix, Sejohn starts off this week’s episode with an in-depth examination of the systems and machines that monitor and control our modern day society. Then Devon comes in to talk about the latest food challenge he attempted to triumph over and gives just enough information about “The Banana Splits Movie” to get Sejohn excited enough to care about spoilers and give it a watch of his own.
