Dennis and Jay also reveal the secrets to creating a business that can scale both quickly and sustainably. KEY TAKEAWAYS Since a child, Jay always learnt how to create and make his own money. It built the foundations for his journey into entrepreneurship and business. Jay decided to focus on the manufacturing recruitment niche, to allow him to focus and scale fast. Look at your potential clients/customers pain points and fix them for them. This gives you an edge over your competitors. Look at gaps in your industry where you can make a difference. As a small business, you can be adaptable and easily differentiate yourself. You can't always be better than your competitors, but you can easily be different. Sales and marketing should always be the two things you focus on first. If they aren't driving the business, then you won't be able to scale. Don't waste time on tasks that don't add revenue. As a business owner your focus should be on revenue-generating tasks or that grow the business. Anything else is a distraction. BEST MOMENTS ‘If I want to be successful, I need to go into a market that was booming…scalability was there' ‘We listened, we went the extra mile' ‘Focus on what revenue you can bring in, you'll always grow that way” VALUABLE RESOURCES The Business Mentor Podcast - https://www.jay-dhillon.com/podcast Jay Dhillon's website - https://www.jay-dhillon.com Jay Dhillon YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNRouhFVktGDQcCRAzoHydQ ABOUT THE HOST - Jay Dhillon has grown businesses from start-up to success and helped many others do the same. Discover today the one thing that can help you capture new and lucrative clients to your business. Today, Jay discusses the importance of over-delivering to your clients, why you should always aim to solve your clients’ problems and why referrals can eventually make you more money than marketing can. KEY TAKEAWAYS When you’re going into a meeting with a client make sure you listen to them. Don’t just tell them what your product delivers because what you can offer them is more valuable than what your product and service actually does. When a client calls you and they really need your help, you have the upper hand in negotiations. Always go high and see what happens. If you over-deliver and offer a service that the client needs, that will bring you so much more revenue in sales than what marketing can. You have got to get that service level right. It doesn’t matter how much you spend on marketing if you can provide the solution to their problems, that will increase your profits. You have got to deliver a high level of service to your clients. A lot of people are preaching about the power of marketing (which definitely helps), but if your product or service doesn’t deliver or help your client then you’re never going to win. You can spend thousands on marketing but if you cannot deliver, they will never recommend you to others and you will have wasted your money. Referrals will eventually make you more money than marketing because referrals are when someone tells another person about your product and service and then you are in a win-win situation. Before you start your marketing, go back to your existing client base and make sure you are over-delivering your service. Ask them if they are happy with your service and if they would refer your services. BEST MOMENTS “When everyone switched off, we were available.” “They then had recommended us to another client, can you see the power in that?” “We try and go in there and make that client ours for the next three or four years.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Hard Road to Glory by Johnny Nelson https://www.jay-dhillon.com/ CONTACT METHOD https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnny-nelson-a01972195/ ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. The year 2020 has been one for the history books and there has been highs and lows for everybody. Today, we take a look back on the highlights of The Business Mentor Podcast where we’ve had some amazing guests such as Grant Cardone and David McCourt. From pandemic predictions to inspiring guidance this episode contains it all from some of the best business brains around the world. KEY TAKEAWAYS Coronavirus isn’t going away. If you were to put scientists and entrepreneurs in the same room, things get solved. People once said that ‘cash is trash’ however nobody is saying that now since having cash is vital. There has never been a more important time to learn how to negotiate and sell that today, if you know how to negotiate and sell and you can’t leave your house, then you can pick up your phone and make some sales. You are either creating or destroying your empire with every single decision you make. Set yourself up for the other side of this pandemic, it will make your enemies hate you even more because you will be successful. This year has been a big eye-opener to see who has been there and who hasn’t. If you hang around with idiots, you’ve got a high chance of being an idiot. If you hang around successful people, you have a high chance of being successful. Face your fears and make fear your friend, break fear down and eventually you will see that what you feared is not so scary. Look at the steps you need to take to be a better leader, and apply them to your life. Somebody could take away all your possessions, but they can never take away the value you bring and the hours of training that you have given yourself. BEST MOMENTS “Everybody should have a mentor.” “The more that you can trust each other within your roles, the less likely you are going to be to stop trying to vie for positions.” “That’s when I burned my bridges and said ‘I have got to be responsible.” “I am going to be stronger than ever when this is over.” ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. The year 2020 has been difficult for everyone and you are likely to have learned some lessons along the way. Listen in today as Jay discusses how this year taught him to always being prepared for unforeseen circumstances, how to make things happen rather than waiting for things to happen as well as understanding that this too shall pass, and soon a new sense of normality shall resume. KEY TAKEAWAYS Don’t put starting your business idea off. The pandemic has taught us that if you have an idea, go for it because you never know what is just around the corner. If you have got a good idea, just go with it and execute it quickly. More doing, less thinking. You will learn more by doing something rather than just thinking about it. Don’t wait for things to happen, make them happen. Many people are waiting for things to return to normal however the truth is things may never return to ‘normal’. It is how you react to the ‘new normal’ which will make all the difference, you have to make your business moves now and don’t wait for things to return to how they once were. Always be prepared. It is always important to have a plan to pivot when a crash comes, always plan like you anticipate something is going to happen. If you’re prepared for an unforeseen market crash, you can move and adapt quickly. This too shall pass. Things will get back to some sort of normality in the future. Don’t stress about things so much, if you’re making the right pivots and trying to move yourself forward then you will get past this situation. The market always comes back, it is where you are going to be in that chain of thoughts. Keep focused and surround yourself with the right people. Mentors are great because they will push you in the right direction. A mentor will always look at a solution to your problem and will help you to find ways in which you can move forward. They will look at their past experience and use this to allow you and your business to move in the right direction. BEST MOMENTS “I don’t think anybody has been through this before and I don’t think anybody’s been able to analyse it.” “This was a market crash like we’ve never seen before. We’ve never seen the amount of money that has been pumped into the economy and the amount of wealth that has been created.” “You have got to look at how you can pivot, and then make the move.” VALUABLE RESOURCE https://www.jay-dhillon.com/ CONTACT METHOD https://www.jay-dhillon.com/ https://uk.linkedin.com/in/jaydhillon https://www.instagram.com/jaydhillonuk/ https://www.facebook.com/JaydhillonUK/ http://Jay@jay-dhillon.com See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Join Jay today as he details his new, free Business And Personal Success Plan which can allow you to plan the future of your business, overcome challenges and grow even during the toughest times. KEY TAKEAWAYS The 2020 Coronavirus pandemic has taught many people tough lessons in business. Some businesses have survived and others have not. Business is always changing, this year was just on a grander scale. The business industry could change every day, it is about being prepared if you wish to succeed. Having some form of plan is helpful when things in your industry change, and you need to pivot. Nobody could have predicted COVID, however it is wise to always plan for a market crash or shift in the industry. Having a plan can allow you to strategize and move quicker. Many entrepreneurs plan, but they do not have the right plan. If you spend time on your plan, it means more to you and you are likely to stick to it. Whilst it is important to have a vision, many people forget to look at other key areas such as competition. The Business And Personal Success plan is about mapping your business journey and taking your business into an asset. Creating an asset for your business is important as you want this business to give you the freedom and flexibility to do what you want to do. You need to focus on both your personal and business goals and put these both in your plan. Planning is a foundational step to take your business to success. Failing to plan will not make you or your business succeed. Many people create small plans but do not take into account the wider picture. Once you create your plan, ensure that you sit down with somebody and ask them to challenge you. Mentors that have been there and done that will challenge you on your plan and give you advice on how you can adapt and change it for you to succeed. BEST MOMENTS “Planning is critical” “If you’re not turning your business into an asset, you are creating a job.” “ This is a free plan that you can take away yourself.” VALUABLE RESOURCE https://www.jay-dhillon.com/ CONTACT METHOD https://www.jay-dhillon.com/ https://uk.linkedin.com/in/jaydhillon https://www.instagram.com/jaydhillonuk/ https://www.facebook.com/JaydhillonUK/ http://Jay@jay-dhillon.com See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

“Failure is common to most people, but there are ways and things that you can do to avoid it.” In today’s episode of The Business Mentor podcast, Jay interviews Former undefeated WBO World Champion boxer and serial entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist, Johnny Nelson. Together they discuss what it takes to be successful and how to elevate your personal and business life in this enthralling episode. KEY TAKEAWAYS Quitting should never be a habit when you face challenges. You have to keep on putting even more effort in and look at the challenge at a different angle and try to solve it because quitting does not mean that challenges are over. Lack of discipline makes a lot of people fail in their lives. Success is not easy to achieve, if your focus is to attain a particular goal in your life, you have to be very disciplined, such that nothing can derail you from achieving your purpose. Habit is everything. Make it a habit to do that thing that helps you achieve your goals. Once your thirst is quenched by achieving your goals, you need to find a new motivation to make your calendar stay there. Wisdom is something that is achieved over time. You have to go through good and bad experiences to know how to manoeuvre through challenges that come your way. The upbringing of someone is very crucial to what they become later on in their lives and if someone is brought up with a very good foundation, he or she will probably be a very significant or successful person in society. For you to succeed you have to have mentors who have the foresight and understanding and selflessness to help you. They help you find comfort in discomfort, by believing in you more than you even believe in yourself and once you are comfortable in those situations, you can do anything you can to achieve anything. Keep the negativity out of your mind and keep the negative people far away from you if you want to succeed in life. Never listen to what negative people say to you, but keep pushing on because if you do, you are the fool and not them. BEST MOMENTS “Some people are born knowing their path in life, others fall upon their path in life and some it's forced upon them.” “If you create good habits, they will affect every aspect of your life.” “If you knock about with idiots, you've got more chances of being an idiot.” “Ego is our biggest downfall as human beings.” “You can always remember the truth, you can't remember a lie.” “Success breeds success.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Hard Road to Glory by Johnny Nelson https://www.jay-dhillon.com/ ABOUT THE GUEST Johnny is an established pundit, event host and motivational speaker, and a former undefeated WBO World Champion boxer. If you don’t look after yourself you can’t grow. With all of the disruption around us it’s important to make sure you check in with yourself and take stock of how you’re doing retrospectively, personally and in business so that you can get clarity to plan your next steps forward. In today’s episode, Jay shares his tips on how you too can ‘check-in with yourself’ improve your mindset, optimise your energy and gain clarity. KEY TAKEAWAYS . It’s important to reward yourself and manage your energy levels because if you cannot look after yourself you cannot look after others. There’s clarity in unloading your problems and stresses onto a friend, colleague or mentor and seeing a clear vision of plan moving forward as a result. It is essential to diarise downtime in your week, exercise daily, learn to say no and find ways to nourish your body by making sleep a priority. You need to avoid burning out and crashing by listening to your body and your mind by checking in with yourself and allowing yourself to feel what you’re feeling. Always be looking for opportunities to boost your energy and optimise your lifestyle so that you’re looking at yourself and staying mentally strong. Often business books and inspirational stories are born off of a setback or a way that you can keep yourself going when everything seems like you want to stop. Checking in with yourself is not about education or reading more books, it’s about speaking to yourself, listening to yourself and using that calm and clarity to take your next steps forward. BEST MOMENTS “You need to look after yourself” “Reach out because there will be people there to help you” “Be honest with yourself when you need help” “There’s a constant disruption of business in today’s economic climate” “Entrepreneurs often take on too much and get tired and fatigued and with the current pandemic, the lack of communication and face-to-face meetings have taken a lot of energy away from business.” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://www.jay-dhillon.com/ ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. Should you all in or should you hold back? This is a question that runs quite frequently in the entrepreneurs' mind, and in this episode, Jay shares some detailed tips and advice on how you can approach this question. If you’re at a crossroads with your business or new start up this episode is for you. KEY TAKEAWAYS Before you decide whether to go all-in or you decide to hold back on an opportunity presented to you by life, you've got to look at two things, best case scenario and worst-case scenario. You got to base it on logic, not emotion because when emotion is high, intelligence is low. Emotions hinder so many people from achieving their goals or becoming successful maybe because they feared doing something and failed previously. Do is your own research. As an entrepreneur, it's good to hear what other people are saying or reading, but it is even wiser to do your own research and not be highly dependent on the thoughts of others. Research will make you go deeper and challenge your thought process rather than jumping in based on hearsay. Are you secure financially? When you invest all of your money in one opportunity, you need to know what your fall-back is when things don't go as planned. If you're going for an opportunity, you need to make sure that you look at your downside as well as the upside, but if you are confused when making that final decision, it would be wise to also involve a mentor. BEST MOMENTS “When emotion is high intelligence is low.” “The more research you do into a topic, into an area, into an opportunity, the better you will get of taking hold of the opportunity.” “When you go into something full in, and you've not researched it, it's a difficult loss.” “If you are putting all that you got in an opportunity you didn’t research on, you are gambling.” “Your position will be different from somebody else's position.” “If you're testing it, then it may be a good idea to look at this on a contract role, rather than taking someone on full time.” “Before you go into growth, or looking to make some mega spends, then have a look at getting the advice.” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://www.jay-dhillon.com/ ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. When emotion is high, intelligence is low. Business built off of emotion, the emotion of ‘screw it, let’s do it’ often fail. Why? Because there is no research, planning, growth strategy and exit strategy. In today’s episode, Jay dives into the mentality needed to succeed in business with logic, preparation and planning and why starting a business driven by emotion don’t always work. Coming soon. Free resources and Success Plans available on The Business Mentor website. (Jay-dhillon.com) KEY TAKEAWAYS A business should be built on logic, planning, strategy, profitability, growth and an exit strategy and not just an emotion. If you’re looking to start a business make sure you do the research. Emotion gives us a momentum where we think we can ‘just make it happen’ but the devil is in the detail. When starting a business you must test the demand in the market and research the industry downside and upside before going all in. The reality of starting a business kicks in when you’ve launched your PR campaign, you’ve set everything up and your sat in a quiet office. This why you must test and research everything from your demand to your exit strategy before launching and not get caught up in the emotion of the idea. A lot of people lose a lot of money with the ‘Screw it let’s do it’ mentality when going into business. To be successful you need to look beyond the headline of a business opportunity. Do the research and develop a growth strategy and an exit strategy before making the leap. BEST MOMENTS “In business, strategy and logic always win” “When emotion is high go into research mode.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Richard Branson - Screw it lets do it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Screw-Lets-Do-Lessons-Quick/dp/0753510995 Sign up to the Transform My Life Online course: https://beautifulminds.com.au/transform-my-life-online-course/ Join The Disruptive Movement: https://www.disruptivedare.com/ Read As A Man Thinketh by James Allen. Jay welcomes back author, mentor and entrepreneur, Neville Wright to the podcast to discuss what the current economic situation means for those of you wanting to start, grow and scale your own business. Discover what it takes to capitalise on new business opportunities, what it means to learn something new each and every day and what it means to be an entrepreneur today. KEY TAKEAWAYS The doom and gloom of the current economic situation will continue for the near future, however, it will push those of you who are on the fence or concerned about starting a business to go ahead and start your business or grasp that opportunity you’ve been waiting to take. If you do not start a business now it’s something you may regret. If the economy recovers in the next couple of years you may not have the same opportunity again. With many people being made unemployed it’s a fantastic situation for business owners to find new employees with skills and qualifications to bring into their business. Business owners that want to improve and increase their business need to accept the reality of the current situation and take your luck as it comes. Now is a great time to start your own business and capitalise on current opportunities in the marketplace. Can you utilise a ‘secret salesperson’ in your business? A secret salesperson is utilising a feeling, emotion or niche audience or even fear to help market, promote and sell your business to the customer and market your brand. In Kiddicare the secret salesperson was the pregnant mother. As an entrepreneur, you need to be ‘in it to win it’ and prepared to grasp opportunities when they present themselves. Wherever you are there is someone running the same business as you but some of them are thriving and some of them are just surviving, which business are you? BEST MOMENTS “There are no benefits to the benefits system in the long run” “With businesses, you’re always learning” “Once you taste your own freedom of being your own boss I don’t think you’ll ever go and work for someone ever again” “Businesses in today economic situation has to adapt and change with new rules and remote working.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Sign up to the Transform My Life Online course: https://beautifulminds.com.au/transform-my-life-online-course/ Join The Disruptive Movement: https://www.disruptivedare.com/ Read As A Man Thinketh by James Allen. A record price for one independent shop in the depths of a recession. What many people will not know is Neville had previously sold three nursery businesses, dating back over the last 36 years, plus a variety of other businesses including hairdressing salons, restaurants, a large house-building business and a technology company. Is there something you’ve always wanted to try out, but the fear of regret has stopped you from doing so? Join Jay today as he discusses how to stop this fear from holding you back as he draws on his own personal experience on how some of his business ventures have turned into life lessons. Discover why it is important to test and measure your new idea, why setting yourself a deadline is beneficial and why the best lessons sometimes come from our failures. KEY TAKEAWAYS When you have got an idea, and you want to run with it rather than just think about it you should test and measure it and let the results decide if it is going to be something worth doing. The fear of regret and not doing something outweighs just going ahead and doing it. Whatever happens, you will learn from it. Going ahead and doing something, gives you this power of ‘tried it, it didn’t work, learnt your lesson’ and you are able to move on from it. The biggest regret you will have is not doing it. If you decide not to do something, you will be plagued with ‘what if’ thoughts. You have to go into these ventures and put some action into them. Put a time frame on things and give it a go. If you put a short enough time frame on your new business idea and stick to it, you can really push it forward. You are able to test and measure the results you get. Testing and measuring is the only thing that will make you look at this new idea and decide whether or not to proceed with it. The key thing is to set a deadline. If you are going to test something, tell yourself you will give this idea 2-3 months. Use the results to determine if you will continue. This doesn’t mean that you will give up straight away. Make sure you are aware of your key performance areas and ensure that they are relevant to what you are When you have created your plan, make sure you execute the plan correctly. If your budget allows, spend some money on testing the product. It is better to test something quickly and get direct feedback from your end consumer, rather than try to build it organically. Don’t let the fear of regret eat you up when you get older. Try things that you wish to do, the younger you are the easier it is to do. BEST MOMENTS “At the time I thought ‘oh I wish I never did this’ but looking back, it was a great lesson, a lesson that I can share.” “I don’t look back and think ‘I wish I would’ve saved that money’ what I’ve learned is a great lesson and I made some great partnerships.” “By doing nothing, you gain nothing.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Sign up to the Transform My Life Online course: https://beautifulminds.com.au/transform-my-life-online-course/ Join The Disruptive Movement: https://www.disruptivedare.com/ Read As A Man Thinketh by James Allen. New opportunities can often be exciting and intriguing, but not every opportunity is a good one. Join Jay today as he takes you through his seven steps for spotting a good opportunity. Learn how all good opportunities are those that solve common problems, how important market research is and to make sure your new business opportunity is scalable. KEY TAKEAWAYS Does the opportunity excite you? Are you excited about it? This is the easy part. Every idea or opportunity you may get will have some form of excitement about it because it is new, fresh and interesting. If at this initial point, you are not excited then it is advisable to go and look at something else. You don’t want to be doing something you are not excited about just because somebody else has done it. If the opportunity or idea that you come across does not solve a problem, then you do not want to be doing it. Have a look at the idea and ask yourself if it would make life easier for other people. You can look at problems in any kind of industry, small or big and come up with ways to solve these problems which people would appreciate and support. Do your market research. Many people skip this process as they get so overwhelmed with the idea or opportunity. Look at the finer details such as competitors and price points. You need to do that in order to assess whether or not there is a demand for this new product or service. You need to build a minimum viable product. Build something that looks like what you would hope to be the end result and get some orders. You need to get the orders in order to create a real demand. In certain industries, you may not be able to get a physical order in, but get the commitment from people. Many times, people will tell you it is a great idea but will not want to commit when asked to purchase the product or service. People will give you a false sense of security. Can this business be scaled? Is there a big enough market for this product? Make sure that you can scale the business. There is no point doing the business unless you are able to scale it. You will find that after the initial hard work and effort, you cannot take your business any further. BEST MOMENTS “Why would you not want to go with something that is already moving forward?” “Unless people are buying your actual service, you are going to get unstuck.” “Start looking at this as a business, this isn’t a dream. Business is competitive.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Sign up to the Transform My Life Online course: https://beautifulminds.com.au/transform-my-life-online-course/ Join The Disruptive Movement: https://www.disruptivedare.com/ Read As A Man Thinketh by James Allen. Discover today how you can get the most out of your mentorship by ensuring your mentor is giving you the best advice that is relevant in today’s business world. Jay discusses the importance of having a mentor who is currently working in their niche, why you want to ensure the advice they are giving you is relevant to today's market and how to talk through these concerns with your mentor. KEY TAKEAWAYS When you speak to a mentor or a coach then you want to know if they are practicing in their field currently. You want to work with mentors who are doing things in your industry now. The mentor can use the lessons of the past but then adapt that experience to current business challenges. Your mentor may have been really successful in the past but you need to make sure the advice they are giving you, especially in sales and marketing is relevant to today. Sales and marketing is something important for your business to survive and to go forward. If you feel like your mentor is not giving you current advice, go back to your mentor and inform him that some of the information they are giving you isn’t new. You would ideally want to work with a mentor who is doing it now, still involved in the day to day hustle and who knows what is happening in technology. If you are building your business you want to work with someone who is going to give you the insights and the details of what they are doing now. Work with people who are utilising podcasts, advertising and new industries. They will be able to give you the data you need now. You don’t want information from 20 years ago. Weigh up the mentor’s strengths and weaknesses. Don’t be afraid to ask them what they believe they are good at currently. If their strength is on mindset, clarity and giving you raw lessons then that is great. However, if you are looking for a mentor who is going to give you solid advice in sales, marketing and new technology then it is difficult for them to give you the advice that you are looking for since they are not practicing day in and day out. BEST MOMENTS “I can then link my old advice, and bring it in now to the 21st century. I can use both of these experiences and then pass it on to my mentee’s who I work with.” “They may have a great story, but how is it relevant to you now?” “The older mentors have some great insight that will give you inspiration, the motivation and the belief that you can do it.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Watch the Podcast Interviews by Subscribing to Jay’s Youtube Channel http://bit.ly/JayDhillonYouTube Subscribe to The Business Mentor Podcast, the #1 iTunes Business Podcast in the UK! https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/business-mentor-podcast/id1370793386 ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. Do you often find yourself being overworked and feeling burnt out? Join Jay today as he shares his top 10 tips on how to avoid burnout which can help you and your business thrive. Discover the importance of planning your days, taking a break from your business and how this can allow you to become more creative and help you come up with your best business ideas. KEY TAKEAWAYS You have got to make time to take a break from your business life. When you allow yourself to take a well-needed break, that is when you will become more creative. Taking a break will allow you to come up with new ideas. Your best business ideas will come when you are away from your business. Exercise is a great way to allow yourself to get away from some situations and put your focus onto something else. When you exercise you will feel a lot better in yourself, not only will it help you maintain a healthy lifestyle but it will also allow you to keep your brain nice and fresh. Plan for your day ahead. Having a list of all the things you wish to complete by the end of the day can allow you to focus your mind. If you turn up each day and try to freestyle your schedule you may find you become distracted by each task that lands in front of you. Creating a plan allows you to say no to the less important tasks, saying no is powerful as it allows you to manage your day. Realise that you can do this. No matter what situation you are in, you can do whatever you put your mind to. With hard work, effort and dedication you can achieve almost anything you desire. If you believe you can do anything you want to do that takes away the pressure as you will understand that you can achieve your goal. Speak to someone and tell them how you are truly feeling. That is why mentorship programmes are so valuable because you are able to have conversations with people which allow you to confess how burned out you feel. Do not let your feelings fester inside you because burnout can have some bad consequences in business. Don’t allow burnout to build up because eventually, this can lead to something deeper. Take a break from your phone. As a society, we are always by our phones because these days, our phones run everything. Take time to come away from your phone when your schedule can allow it. Taking time in the morning to spend time away from your phone can allow you to start your day off positively. BEST MOMENTS “Make sure you take a break, that is when all the creativity comes.” “You have got to encourage happiness within your day.” “ If I burn out, then over the next few days my productivity is down and therefore it is counterproductive.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Watch the Podcast Interviews by Subscribing to Jay’s Youtube Channel http://bit.ly/JayDhillonYouTube Subscribe to The Business Mentor Podcast, the #1 iTunes Business Podcast in the UK! https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/business-mentor-podcast/id1370793386 ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. If looking at the news headlines is making you worry, and you’re wondering what this means for you then worry no longer as today Jay discusses what the headlines really mean and how you can use this to your advantage. Discover today how the pandemic has affected the economy, how the headlines are purely there to grab your attention and how you can use information in these articles to your advantage. KEY TAKEAWAYS We are seeing a lot of headline figures at the moment in regards to the job losses caused by the pandemic and the impact that this has had on certain industries. It is important to look deeper into the headline and read the data surrounding the stories as this will help you to understand the story more. The recent announcement that retail giant Marks and Spencers is set to make 7,000 members of staff redundant has been headline news. On first impressions this is worrying for the retail industry, however, if you read the article closely you will understand that they are using technology to become a leaner company. Essentially, what would have happened in the next two to three years is happening now as it has been accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the fact that many people will lose their jobs, it is because they are making their business more agile and efficient by using technology. If you look behind the headline and study it further and then apply this to your own business, using technology to allow you to become more agile. These techniques will allow your business to become more profitable. Companies are utilising this time to pivot their business model to become more profitable. When reading headline news on how the pandemic is affecting the economy, look at the actual details of the story. Do not rely solely on the headlines as these are there purely to grab your attention, if you look at the detail you will get some really great information which you can use to apply to your own business. BEST MOMENTS “I want you to look deeper behind the headline.” “Technology and efficiency have been accelerated.” “They are pivoting their model and making it more profitable.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Watch the Podcast Interviews by Subscribing to Jay’s Youtube Channel http://bit.ly/JayDhillonYouTube Subscribe to The Business Mentor Podcast, the #1 iTunes Business Podcast in the UK! https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/business-mentor-podcast/id1370793386 ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. Do you have an idea for a business, but don’t know where to start? Well, listen in today as Jay explains the importance of having a business plan when starting up your new business venture. Learn today why it is important to create both a start-up and follow up business plan, how to structure your pricing strategy as well as the importance of investing in mentorship programmes to keep you and your business on track. KEY TAKEAWAYS Many companies and entrepreneurs start up their businesses without a plan. Initially, during the start-up phase of your new venture, you will need to create a plan that coincides with your vision as well as creating a mission statement. You then need to create a plan which details the next step in the industry for your business; otherwise, you will get frustrated with your growth. The planning stage can, at times be frustrating, as you are challenging your mind to think about something that isn’t there yet. You need to get in the mind frame of creating a vision and making this vision powerful and exciting. You might doubt yourself, but you have to go beyond those doubts to create something new and exciting. When we are pricing or selling something, we often fail to factor in our own time and effort. If you are pricing something to be competitive, make sure you put in your time to be able to do that task. As entrepreneurs, you tend not to value your time, but you need to put time into your business model and pricing structure. Failure to do so will inevitably lead to you selling at a loss, as you eventually hire somebody else to complete the task you don’t have time for. Look at investing in mentorship programmes to enable you to reach your full potential. Getting your business plans checked by a mentor allows you to ensure you are on the right track. If you create a fantastic plan and you have not had it checked, then you will not know if you are going in the right direction. Your mentor will guide you and tell you things that you have probably not thought about. It is imperative that once you have your business off the ground, that you have someone that keeps you accountable. If you are running a business and following the plan that you have created and you fail to check in with somebody that has been there before you, you may find that you are making the same mistakes repeatedly. You need to be able to check-in with someone to make sure you are on the right track. Always do your own research into business and the industry that you are in. The more work and effort you put into learning business, the better questions you can ask those who are supporting you. You need to be asking your mentors the right questions to make sure that you are getting the answers that you want and need to succeed. BEST MOMENTS “We need to have a succession plan for business and for personal.” “Your time is your most valuable asset.” “Get that insight of somebody who has been there before, that will really fast track your mistakes if you can sit with them and show them your plan and your journey.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to The Business Mentor Podcast, the #1 iTunes Business Podcast in the UK! http://businessmentorpodcast.com/ ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. Do you often find yourself looking at others in your industry and wondering why you are not on their same level? Listen in to today's podcast as Jay details why it is vital that you stop comparing your starting point to other peoples’ endpoint. Learn that the key to success is consistency, how journaling your daily achievements can allow you to look at your steady progression and how all the small wins will eventually add up to your big win. KEY TAKEAWAYS When you see somebody that has achieved a large amount of success, you are seeing the end result. What you haven’t seen is the time it has taken and the challenges in between. We have a habit of comparing ourselves to others and wanting to get to their position instantly. You need to create a long term plan with an end goal. In the age of social media, whereby everybody is posting the highlights of their lives, you have to take everything with a pinch of salt. Take the inspiration from other peoples’ posts, and then make that applicable to yourself. Ensure you are consistent with your daily ‘one step forward’ jobs and have it in your mind that there is no overnight success. The biggest thing that happens is procrastination. You start something new and you don’t see it going somewhere straight away, and then you give up. If you want to get somewhere, you have to take it step by step. Sometimes the best results come from when you least expect them. You may be trying and trying to make sales, or create contacts and you may not feel like you are getting anywhere. Follow up is the key, as this is where you close the deals. Do not give up after your first attempt. Each day, write down in a journal what you have achieved during that day. These may be big or small achievements, you will automatically start feeling better as you will soon realise that in just one day, you achieved a lot. If you don’t write this down, you may feel like you are not progressing or moving forward. If you sit down and be honest with yourself about why you have not achieved something, you will most likely find it is because you started, and then you stopped. The momentum stopped because you thought you weren’t getting far enough. You will then look back and see that if you had continued with your consistent daily goals, then you would have been much further ahead. BEST MOMENTS “We have a habit of looking at other people and wanting to get there overnight.” “Don’t look at someone’s end journey and compare it with your start journey.” “Take time to make sure you do your daily activities, day in day out.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Watch the Podcast Interviews by Subscribing to Jay’s Youtube Channel http://bit.ly/JayDhillonYouTube Subscribe to The Business Mentor Podcast, the #1 iTunes Business Podcast in the UK! https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/business-mentor-podcast/id1370793386 ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. How can you disrupt existing marketing and stand out from the competition? Listen in to hear how Jay solved the paid points of his customer and disrupted the recruitment sector and how you too be different from other businesses and disrupt an industry. Hear how to speak to customers, find problems and improve on existing products or services for accused success in a time full of opportunity. KEY TAKEAWAYS It’s great to come up with new ideas, but it’s just as good to take something that’s already working and make it better. Standing out from the crowd and disrupting an industry means you’ll need to look at an existing product or service differently and improve on it. You can apply current, real-world problems and solve them with existing products or services. In an industry with established businesses you need to be different, you need to pick a niche and target a smaller audience with a product or service that resonates with them in order to disrupt the wider market. If your industry is incredibly competitive you need to be different. In recruitment, Jay identified his customer’s pain points which in this case was availability and as a result, implemented a 24-hour call system to support his clients. You don’t have to come up with an idea to be different, you can ask your clients and customers for advice on how you can serve them better and improve on any other companies product or service in the same market. Aim to deliver on your promise and solve your client’s pain points to disrupt your industry. Speak to your customers, find the problems in any business and how you can improve on it. Always communicate with your customers. Good or bad, there’s never bad feedback. If there’s a problem, take it and deal with it before it gets worse. In the current environmental circumstances, opportunities are everywhere and new strategies come from existing areas and industries that need to evolve to meet the customer’s needs. BEST MOMENTS “Uber and Airbnb came out because there was a demand for disruption in the industry.” “Don’t be afraid to speak to the customer” “Come with a solution and deliver” “A mentor or a mastermind group can help you find the right idea in the right industry, ready for disruption.” “Test your market, test your idea and show that how you’re improving a product or service is working.” “Don’t be afraid to roll up your sleeves and test out your idea yourself. Don’t outsource it.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Watch the Podcast Interviews by Subscribing to Jay’s Youtube Channel http://bit.ly/JayDhillonYouTube Subscribe to The Business Mentor Podcast, the #1 iTunes Business Podcast in the UK! https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/business-mentor-podcast/id1370793386 ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. In a rare episode your host, entrepreneur and mentor, Jay Dhillon gets questioned on all things business. How he mentors, how he can help you start, grow and scale your own business and why mentoring is the key to success. Hear Jay’s personal story from of how mentorship helped him got him where he is today and how he learns from the losses and enjoys the triumphs. KEY TAKEAWAYS The mind is something that you can keep educated and keep training. In technology now (particularly since the lockdown) you need to be able to adapt, this means constantly learning. We can see the future, we know where it is going we want to be always educated ourselves if you carry on doing what you were 15 years ago you will not advance in business. Mentors should be highly valued as you know they have likely been through difficulties in their businesses. When you speak to mentors or others who have been successful in business, they are telling their stories raw, there is no script or strategy and they give you the belief if they have done it you can do it. You learn from your loses, but you won’t make the same mistakes again. The start-up phase is usually the toughest phase but the most enjoyable, you have to enjoy the process. Many people end up placing too much pressure on themselves, they want that big goal straight away. If you’ve had a big business win, just enjoy it. The journey to success has to be enjoyed, enjoy the wins because the pressures of business are there all the time anyway. It is really important to open up to people if you are struggling in your business if you don’t open up and you don’t be open and honest with your mentor or the person you work with then you will go down the path of fighting against something that you need to let out. When someone very close to you tells you that you’re not going to be successful in business and tells you time and time again, and perhaps you’re going into a competitive industry that you are not familiar with it is not nice to hear. This usually makes you want to do it, even more, make sure you give it your all and do it for yourself. BEST MOMENTS “When I’m not growing, I’m not fulfilled and that means picking up a book, trying a new idea or a new business.” “You learn more from failing than you do from your successes.” “I encourage every entrepreneur to take the help, take what’s on offer especially if you’re struggling and reach out.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Watch the Podcast Interviews by Subscribing to Jay’s Youtube Channel http://bit.ly/JayDhillonYouTube Subscribe to The Business Mentor Podcast, the #1 iTunes Business Podcast in the UK! https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/business-mentor-podcast/id1370793386 ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. With the current pandemic at the forefront of everybody’s mind, Jay discusses his thoughts on the impact of COVID-19 on the business world and how you can get ahead of the game. Whilst many people share their opinions on social media, it is important that you think solely on what is right for you and your business, putting the workload in to come out of the recession even stronger and taking a media detox to focus on your own business needs. KEY TAKEAWAYS There is a lot of disruption in the market and you need to think to yourself ‘what can I control?”. That may be creating new content, setting up a home office, utilising platforms such as Zoom and gaining information from your clients. There are many people with strong theories and opinions on the pandemic. You can go down the direction of listening to these differences of opinions, but it is important to know what you need to do in order to excel during the pandemic. You need to have a balanced view on life during the pandemic, the best way to do that is to switch off the media, stop consuming media that discusses the pandemic. Focus on yourself, it is about you and your business, it is not about other people and their personal agenda. The companies that have or will come out of this pandemic stronger are the ones that are putting the work in. Companies such as Air BnB and Uber came out stronger during the last recession due to planning and pivoting. Whilst it is important and often encouraged to post on social media platforms, you also need to know when to put the action in. Wake up early, plan for your business and put the foundations in so that you can come out of this stronger. If you’re not backing up your talking with action, then what is the point? BEST MOMENTS “You could watch stuff for hours and hours, you’re always going to get one opinion and that is how the world works if you get to hooked up on one way or another way you procrastinate doing what you need to do.” “You have got to take a balanced view.” “I knew if I could get to them first, whilst everybody else was procrastinating, then I can get in there. Nothing goes wrong when there’s a cup of coffee in hand! In this episode of The Business Mentor Podcast, Jay talks to MSG Tours Ltd Founder Mark Gardner about his multi-businesses, the travel industry, how he built his team, and his rise from an employee to CEO, aside from his passion for coffee. Mark is an adventurous guy. He’s into sports and into traveling. This is regardless of how extreme or how absurd things get. Whatever it is, he’s always on the go. So, when he got a chance to start his brand which combines two of his two passions, he just went all in. No doubts, no reservations. Right now, he has already offered tours and travel services to thousands of sports fans, travellers, tourists, and many more adventurous souls like his around the world. Be inspired today with his stories and tips when you tune in! KEY TAKEAWAYS Dislocating a knee won’t stop our guest Mark Gardner from loving sports. When he learned he couldn’t do any extreme sports (i.e. snowboarding) anymore or join the military, he decided to look for opportunities elsewhere. He coached about British soccer to kids in the USA. He also became a social secretary for a rugby team, which gave him a chance to travel the world. He saw the possibility of mixing two things he’s passionate about. He wanted something where he could still be in the realms of sports & traveling whilst growing his wealth. The travel industry is cash-rich. When tourists and travellers book tours with them, they pay weeks in advance. It’s easy to do a forecast on your cash flow and profits. Market research is a vital step that some entrepreneurs don’t spend time on. According to Mark, it’s easy to outline and execute a plan if you know who you are creating for. There is also a reduced possibility of malfunctions since you can implement a fool-proof (or near to it) system in place. Ask the question. If you’re going through a tough time, let somebody help you out. You can approach them directly. Or, you can start googling online for free resources provided by business mentors. There are a lot out there that exist, just like this podcast. There is not much difference in aiming to be a pro athlete and being a successful entrepreneur/investor. Our guest for today is English professional footballer Mark Little, and together with Jay, he discusses how similar the worlds of professional sports and business are. Aside from this, Mark also shares some moments from his football career, some tips for those who feel like they’re unproductive during this lockdown, and his interesting jump into the investing world. You have to act smart if you want to maintain the success you’re enjoying. Tune in now to The Business Mentor Podcast to learn more about Mark Little and his big successes! KEY TAKEAWAYS Being a pro athlete requires discipline and resiliency. There is too much pressure in the world of professional sports. You have to be dedicated to be able to endure it. For example, everyone should be mindful of not only their schedule but also their teammates. Sacrifices are going to be made. Not every athlete, just like any entrepreneur, get to spend their ‘free’ time in leisurely activities. The shift from the world of sports to entrepreneurship might look like a disaster for the traditional-thinking people. But it isn’t. According to Mark, there isn’t a difference between being a rookie player and an aspiring entrepreneur. Every step should be thought through. One mistake, then the domino effect happens—you’ll need to take a pause then plan your next best move again. We all have different priorities. Conversely, the gravity of your problems might not be as heavy as someone else’s. It’s best not to assume anything. If we are compassionate and understanding with one another, then it’s more fulfilling to achieve our successes. Always put the work in. Nothing will ever happen if you wait for a miracle, fate, or a helping hand to DO it for you. For example, mentors are there to guide you and teach you valuable knowledge—but that’s it. If you don’t apply the things they impart, then your mentorship will go nowhere. BEST MOMENTS “You have to go ‘through’ these tough times to grow from them.” “When the economy is good everybody is flying.” “I wasn’t that clever… but the thing that did for me is consistently showing up.” “The only way you’ll wake up to this is to fast forward.” “I’m gonna get ten million times further and quicker from listening to someone who knows more than me than doing it alone.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Follow Mark Little on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/Litts_2 Follow Mark Little on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/litts_2/ Subscribe to The Business Mentor Podcast, the #1 iTunes Business Podcast in UK! http://businessmentorpodcast.com/ ABOUT THE GUEST Mark Little is an English professional footballer who plays or Bristol Rovers as a defender. smoothly adapt during these challenging times. Daniel is the founder of Dent Global and also an author of best-selling business books including Key Person of Influence. According to Daniel, there are many ways that you can stay disruptive even amid the coronavirus pandemic! The key thing to do is to bring fresh ideas on the table and keep innovating. There are unseen opportunities out there—maybe even greater than what you’re expecting. Listen in to Jay and Daniel lay out all the tips and strategies for you today! KEY TAKEAWAYS Daniel and his team had plans that were delayed because of the coronavirus outbreak. But this didn’t stop him from growing his business. There are still ways he can move, even if the effects aren’t as huge and fast as what he’d hope for. As entrepreneurs, we have to learn to adapt and make use of the available resources effectively. According to Daniel, there are three mindsets of an entrepreneur: a monkey, a reptile, and an entrepreneurial visionary. Always aim to be the visionary entrepreneur. The reptile wants to fight, flee, freeze, and freak out. The monkey wants to tinker and pretend there’s nothing wrong. The visionary entrepreneur wants to reinvent the future. Keep innovating. There is no pause in improvement, in moving forward. The possibility of reverting from your accomplishments is bigger when you choose to get your foot off the pedal. There is competition not just in the market but with yourself too. A scalable business has already developed IP, IT, and media. We can improve the middle management in our business through team collaboration software tools. These tools can be utilised especially during this tough time, where we don’t have ‘direct’ supervision over our employees. Where do we look for greater opportunities right now? Look into basic consumer needs. Build a business that solves one of the seventeen humanitarian or social issues in the world. This isn’t the time to invest on secondary and leisurely demands. What are the Cardones up to lately? In this episode of The Business Mentor Podcast, Jay talks to Elena Cardone about how the power couple (referring to her and Grant, of course) are staying sane, spending time with their family, and keeping their business up and running even though they’re stuck at home. Luckily for the Grants, they’ve prepared for such a threat to their business empire. They’ve got their Plan B, and even more back-ups, up their sleeves. But what if we aren’t like them? What if our businesses are in the danger zone lately? Elena Cardone recognises this—that there will be more people who’ll be suffering from this outbreak. Listen to Elena give some tips so you can still get back up as soon as the economic turmoil dissipates. Other topics discussed today: separating business talks from family bonding time, maintaining healthy couple relationships, and more, so tune in. KEY TAKEAWAYS Most analysts have long been telling us about a market crash, but this global market shutdown was not what they were expecting. This coronavirus pandemic totally changed everything. But Elena and Grant were prepared. This is what separates them from the others. And they really hope others were too. The truth is, most small-scale businesses will suffer. They won’t survive this collapse. They must go back to the planning table and rethink of ways they can make it through this transition to—what most call—the ‘new normal’. Maybe this is the right time to reinvent and look at new ventures in other industries. Always learn how to separate business stuff from your family life. We are all stuck at home, with very limited movement. We have even taken our work home. So, imagine the stress from work and the additional stress from all the COVID-19 news colliding—it could get difficult to keep the familial ties healthy. It’s already difficult to avoid clashes of ideas or aspirations between two people who live together. Surely even more so with a couple who are in business together? Whenever there’s an altercation, Elena sees to it that she makes the conscious effort to pause, breathe, and to be less emotionally reactive. Trust is also very important—you have to let your partner do his/her part. And also, remember to always stand beside your partner no matter what. Some tips from Elena so our businesses can go through this tough period: Accept where we’re at and there will be a needed change. Economise; don’t spend frivolously. You can use your resources to improve on yourself. Surround yourself with positive people. Everything’s tough, so don’t let anyone make it tougher. Find time to create fun now and then. Do everything to remove the stress! BEST MOMENTS “The uncertainty of not knowing the market, not knowing what’s coming, is stressful no matter who you are.” “It’s hard to not get sucked up in it with the uncertainty going around.” “We will hire people” “There are changes, and that you just have to accept that life is different.” “Wear your role in the relationship despite the difficultness.” VALUABLE RESOURCES You can reserve your 10X Growth Conference seat now! In this episode of The Business Mentor Podcast, Jay talks to Alan Barratt, Founder and CEO of Grenade, the UK’s fastest-growing sports performance company, to shed a light on how can businesses, especially those in retail, continue to thrive during these tough times. He gives different tips so you and your team can stay productive during and after the outbreak. Some other topics discussed today are why mentoring is better than coaching, why being choosy with people who surround you shouldn’t be frowned upon, how he built his fitness brand (which is soon to reach the billion dollar value) from the bottom, tune in today! KEY TAKEAWAYS This coronavirus pandemic will make a big dent to the global market economy. If your business has prepared for such, then there won’t be a colossal problem. Businesses, in general, were doing very well before it, so this will just be a pause. For some, this might be a big reset. Businesses should always aim to be sustainable and be prepared for any crash. It can happen anytime, not only amid a global pandemic. Mentoring is better than coaching. Mentoring focuses on your holistic development throughout time while coaching focuses on the outcome itself, mostly on just one (i.e. your business). Mentoring values also not just self-improvement, but also your relationships and network. Grenade company is now celebrating its 10th Alan will forever be grateful and proud of achieving such a milestone. He wouldn’t expect that his passion for sports nutrition would also bring impact to larger communities decades ago. Everything will change. Stop waiting for the shops to reopen. You can move now. Accept the change that is happening and learn to adapt slowly. You can up your online marketing, strengthen your team dynamics (& check on them) and prepare your after-lockdown plan. So, how do you plan to go back and continue business operations efficiently? Though completed diplomas and certificates are influential factors in increasing your credibility, you can’t spend most of the time sitting at a desk. It helps enormously for you to put what you learn into practice. You understand the business operations more when you become hands on. BEST MOMENTS “2020 is going to be the year we lost, but we’ve gained a lot of perspective.” “I’d rather learn through someone’s experience than set up a business and teach people stuff that they haven’t done themselves.” “It’s every entrepreneur’s job to surround themselves with people clever than they are.” “Less thinking, more doing.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Alan Barratt: £70 a Week to Billion Dollar Brand | Grenade's Secret Recipe | Rob Moore’s YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch1lv7GBVW4 Order products from Grenade: https://linktr.ee/grenadeofficial ABOUT THE GUEST Alan Barratt is the Founder and CEO of Grenade, the fastest growing weight management, energy and lifestyle brand in the world. “Present yourself as if you’re going to sit down with one of your prospects for lunch.” In this episode of The Business Mentor Podcast, Jay asks Dennis Brown how can entrepreneurs utilise LinkedIn to gain more leads and more clients. Dennis has successfully grown his business through LinkedIn, as soon as he signed up, he landed his first six-figure client. Hard to believe for some since it’s a platform for millions and millions of people. Dennis wants you to know it’s possible—you can also hit the “LinkedIn Lottery”! They also discuss the 3 main things you can do to utilise LinkedIn, 3 primary strategies on generating business on LinkedIn, what highly successful people do, how to scale up your business and more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Before you become the expert, you have to be a practitioner. There is more you can learn from being in the workforce and having hands-on entrepreneurial experience than reading business books. You can memorise all theories you read, but you have to learn how they apply in the business world. It’s easy to scale up a business when you acknowledge that you won’t be alone climbing the ladder—you need a team. You want your business to grow bigger and continue thriving. Not let it stand still. Let others do tasks you aren’t an expert at. How can you utilise LinkedIn? Find. Connect. Engage. Your target market is easy to find in LinkedIn. Everything will appear in the search results. Then, gather some sales intelligence—this will depend on whatever relationship you want to build with the individual. Write the perfect LinkedIn Connection Request before sending it to the prospect. Don’t use the default template; make it as personal possible. After that, you can message them, or they can now see your content where they can engage with you and other people. 3 Primary Strategies on Generating Businesses on LinkedIn: Paid Advertising, Targeting Outreach, Content Utilising LinkedIn is not about having the greatest number of connections. It’s about having quality connections—engaging with people who you can be of value to and vice versa. Publishing some impactful content helps too as the LinkedIn algorithm will make sure you reach your targeted market. BEST MOMENTS “There’s a difference in being a practitioner and knowing only the theories.” “I need to find the right people. And more than finding the right people, I need to be willing to trust them and give away the things I was already doing.” “If you’re selling a business, then the people you are selling to are in LinkedIn.” “Don’t get caught up in the numbers of connections and followers you have.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to The Growth Experts Podcast on Apple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/the-growth-experts-podcast/id1339203435 Read Danny Brown’s The 7 Habits of Highly Successful LinkedIn Users! here: http://www.linkedacademy.com/ Download The Ultimate Guide to Generating Inbound Leads with LinkedIn for FREE here: https://www.askdennisbrown.com/guide Read Mike Michalowicz's book Profit First: Transform Your Business from a Cash-Eating Monster to a Money-Making Machine here: https://profitfirstbook.com/ Listen to LinkedIn Ads Show by AJ Wilcox on Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/?feed=aHR0cHM6Ly9saW5rZWRpbmFkcy5saWJzeW4uY29tL3Jzcw&hl=en-PH ABOUT THE GUEST Dennis Brown is a successful entrepreneur and the author of The 7 Habits of Highly Successful LinkedIn Users. When David McCourt, the billionaire entrepreneur, was writing his book Total Rethink, he didn’t know it would be so relevant so soon. Industries have been shaken up big time during this pandemic. So, in this episode of The Business Mentor Podcast, Jay and David discuss how business leaders and entrepreneurs should think (and act) during and after the coronavirus crisis. Listen as they give their insight into the ‘new normal’, the urban-rural divide, the ‘cash is crash’ myth, the need for incremental change, and more. David also shares what it is he has been doing to further improve the state of the telecom industry in Ireland. Plus, he also answers viewers’ questions related to the coronavirus. KEY TAKEAWAYS David has always been a big-time innovator in the telecom industry. Currently, he’s securing the largest public-private partnership in Ireland, which aims to bridge the urban-rural divide. Those in rural Ireland can soon have the same level of support given to urban areas. A successful business makes money and contributes value to society. It’s possible to be a millionaire, or even a billionaire, as long as your determination and passion never falter. Listen to what your gut is telling you, just ensure that it also helps other people. There will be a new normal. In terms of jobs, it will be a different responsibility that you’ll take in once you return to your job. For some, unfortunately, they might have no job to go back to because of the changing demand. It will also be inherently easier for the elite to bounce back from the coronavirus crisis than those who work under them. What can small businesses do amid the Covid19 pandemic? Watch the cash. Cash is the oxygen of your business. Work harder than you ever did before. Stay focused. And ask yourself, how can my business fit in? Aim for incremental change. Since everything is going so fast, it’s time to think of revolutionary ways to cope and find solutions. Communicate clearly. Be compassionate to the people affected by the crisis. There will be ground-breaking innovations that can emerge. How does an entrepreneur start again post-coronavirus? Go back to what you consider is your strongest suit. It’s easier to bounce back and climb the ladder when you’ve been playing the game for a long time. BEST MOMENTS “When you come from the bottom and you have nothing, you’re much more willing to take risk.” “What you should do with your life, because it’s a limited amount of time, is something you love with the people you love for a reason you love.” “Entrepreneurs need to communicate clearly. They need to be consistent, empathetic, and passionate.” “Be disciplined. Say NO more often.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Read Total Rethink: Why Entrepreneurs Should Act Like Revolutionaries by David McCourt. This week, Jay is joined by entrepreneur Rob Smallbone KEY TAKEAWAYS The Coronavirus outbreak has the potential to cause a crash, but Jay is cautious. Panic and speculation are far more likely to invoke trouble than the virus itself. Preparation is what helped Jay to survive the last recession. Do all you can to survive, and ask yourself the question: If my supply chain disappeared tomorrow, could I survive? As a business-owner, you need to make sure that you’re the one who can take advantage of your competitor’s poor planning in these circumstances, and not the other way around. Business has to go on, so make sure you’re the one doing so. Jay built a successful business and then sold it, allowing him a rare insight into the entire process of entrepreneurship that many do not have. It has made him one of the most sought-after coaches in the world. The difference between a good coach and a good mentor is that a mentor usually teaches by relating a real-life example, which is much more effective in terms of instruction. One of the greatest things to come out of podcasting is that Jay has built relationships, formed connections, and created a legacy that will last and endure. Be patient. If you’re consistent in your approach, and take your time, you’ll succeed. Don’t just look for quick wins. Find a strategy that works for you and stick to it. BEST MOMENTS ‘Preparation is so important now’ ’Some hard decisions had to be made’ ‘We’re buying the business, not the business owner’ ‘If I’m going to mentor, then this is my challenge’ ‘Doing it is the most important thing’ ‘Look at yourself. “We need to keep escalating up the food chain to keep getting bigger, faster, and stronger. That’s the attitude of an athlete. That’s what we bring to the business world.” Our guest for today is Walter Bond, a pro NBA player turned entrepreneur. In this episode of The Business Mentor Podcast, learn about the transformation that having a shark mindset will bring in your journey towards success. Be determined like a hunting shark. This discussion also covers the difference of mentorship and leadership, the importance of talent and ability in choosing a career, the similarities of excelling in sports and business, and much more! KEY TAKEAWAYS How to make mentorship work for you? You and your mentor must have a harmonious relationship. Find a good mentor who you can trust and communicate well with. Follow and execute what your mentor encourages you to do. Get out of your comfort zone and put in the work. What can we learn from pro athletes turned entrepreneurs? Athletes value the importance of the process and development. Not everything can happen instantly. You can’t expect success to come the next day in a business. Do things incrementally so you’ll get the long-lasting results. Like in NBA, master the fundamentals and be incredible at everything to really excel. Take a break if needed, enjoy the off-season. Have a shark mindset. Great white sharks are positioned so highly in the food chain because they’re ruthless and insatiable. Sharks too need to move a lot, or else they die. Be determined and unrelenting as much as possible. Leaders are readers. Walter’s top tip for aspiring entrepreneurs is to commit to the journey and read a lot about what you’re going into. Do what you can to gain knowledge. There are many provided resources out there. BEST MOMENTS “It wasn’t like I chose basketball; basketball chose me. I was a good athlete.” “Patience. It takes time. When you’re given advice in mentoring or coaching, you have to do it over the course of time.” “… We took them to an off-season process so to experience exponential growths. The same metaphor in sports translates to business in a million different ways.” “I made it to the NBA because I’ve mastered the fundamentals of basketball. I’ve been successful in the business because I’ve mastered the fundamentals of business.” “Before we decide on our career, we need to discover our gifts.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Download Swim!: How a Shark, a Suckerfish, and a Parasite Teach You Leadership, Mentoring, and Next Level Success by Walter Bond On Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VKQN37P/ Download your FREE shark action plan here: https://walterbond.com/ ABOUT THE GUEST Walter Bond is a NBA player turned entrepreneur. KEY TAKEAWAYS Dr Milad was born in Iran and moved in the UK when he was 5 years old. He recalls that it was already becoming a doctor that he answers whenever he gets asked about his dreams. He is now 39, a dentist, and has now a global brand. Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Chaka Khan are just a few of the musical influences of the Singing Dentist Dr Milad Shadrooh. He danced, sang, and rapped whenever there’s a chance when he was young. He was also a DJ for some time with quite a few gigs under his belt! His first viral video, a parody of the Hotline Bling by Drake, was initially just shared to his dentist friends, then to other dentists, and then to the whole wide world. The people loved it, so Dr Milad made more funny and entertaining videos. Is it safe to go to the dentist this pandemic? Since the government advises to lessen close contact, dentist appointments are no exception. Dentists are only allowed to give medical advice through telephone triaging setup by the NHS; physical treatment can only be performed in an emergency. Some private dentists might have a hard time surviving this coronavirus outbreak since there are no patients. As they are private businesses they can furlough staff but even the government help might not be enough for many. BEST MOMENTS “Reduce social interaction. Stay indoors. Be sensible and follow the guidelines… These aren’t tough things that we’ve been asked to do.” “Right now, we’re in the survival phase. Stay afloat. Then, there’s the transition phase where we go back to normal—the new normal.” “It comes with years of performing!” “The best emergency is not to have one. Look after your teeth super well.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Purchase/Stream I Like Molars to help the NHS: https://music.apple.com/gb/album/i-like-your-molars/1505452803 https://open.spotify.com/track/2ryGOYiwTlhTGRvJHqtkov https://www.beatport.com/release/i-like-your-molars/2911723 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQKUHyudBEI Stream the Filling Good Podcast on Entale (an enhanced podcast app). “This sh*t is real, and it’s not going anywhere. You’ve got to do something about it.” – Jay Dhillon In this episode of The Business Mentor Podcast, Jay talks to Grant Cardone, a bestselling author of multiple business books, about the imminently predicted economic crash. Grant himself has had to implement drastic measures in his own business to keep it afloat amid the coronavirus situation. Though some may criticise his big moves, Grant firmly believes he has done the right thing for the future of his business and team. Learn today how you can do it too, especially if you’re a solopreneur. KEY TAKEAWAYS The first thing we must do is solve the coronavirus crisis first before we look for people to blame for it. Just like in business, how you handle tough situations is an enormous part of the game. What could solopreneurs learn from the current coronavirus situation: Make money. Don’t just offer free content Avoid Houses. Sell. Get out of equities. Don’t buy yet. Acknowledge the seriousness of the situation. Focus on how you can survive the economic crash first. You can’t help other people if you are having a hard time maintaining your financial stability. Some people will comment on the small blunders you make, but not on the gigantic steps you have taken to save your company and your team. Don’t mind them. What existing assets do you have that can be liabilities in the future? Even your loved one’s safety (which can be considered an asset) can be compromised amid this crisis. First, get the mentoring you need to keep going. Then, you can guarantee your loved ones’ safety. BEST MOMENTS “To solopreneurs, don’t go into an economy by yourself. It’s too small.” - Grant “Shit happens. This stuff happens. It’s about reacting to it and making sure you’re prepared.” – Jay “When you’re broke, toilet paper is not the first thing on your list.” – Grant “The reason that people are busy is they have data that are conflicting.” – Grant VALUABLE RESOURCES Read the article US job losses: Stock market panic as 6.6 million apply for unemployment in week here: https://www.express.co.uk/finance/city/1267087/us-stock-market-dow-jones-us-unemployment-figures-wall-street-us-stocks Read the article London Live condemned for allowing David Icke to air 'lunatic conspiracy theories' here: https://www.thejc.com/news/uk-news/london-live-condemned-for-allowing-david-icke-to-air-lunatic-conspiracy-theories-1.498968 Listen to the Business Mentor Podcast Episode #62 where Grant talks to Jay About Property, Recession, Religion, Money, & Family here: https://businessmentorpodcast.com/billionaire-grant-cardone-talks-to-jay-about-property-recession-religion-money-family/ Read the book How To Become A Millionaire Now by Grant Cardone ABOUT THE GUEST Grant Cardone is a multimillionaire entrepreneur whose personal property empire is valued at over $900 million. Cash doesn’t mean ‘crash’. Saving is an evergreen philosophy that businesses should have noted since they started. Entrepreneurs should put aside some savings to be ready for the rainy days. In this episode of The Business Mentor Podcast, Jay invites Patrick Bet-David to talk about what entrepreneurs could do during the coronavirus outbreak and what cash savings can do during this hard time. Patrick advises creating more content and making more phone calls to increase your sales. He also gives a no BS take on how China handled (or mishandled) the coronavirus outbreak. Tune in to learn more. KEY TAKEAWAYS The COVID-19, or coronavirus, won’t go away unless we find a solution. And that is what’s scary; we still haven’t found the vaccine yet. According to Patrick, it will help if scientists and entrepreneurs team up together to solve this global pandemic. Each country has a unique approach on how to contain the virus. This vitally depends on their healthcare system. If their hospitals cannot accommodate the projected number of cases, then it’s best to be strict with how the lockdown or quarantine will be. With these kinds of problems, it’s the data you should always trust. The Chinese government have kept the news about Wuhan coronavirus from international health agencies and other countries. China knew what the virus could do. It wasn’t until it started to spread to its other cities that people were informed. Opposing opinions are needed and should not be shut down. This proves that people think critically, and that they don’t just follow orders from the authorities. If China listened to the coronavirus whistle-blower from the start, this outbreak could’ve been reduced. Businesses need to keep some cash. This is to ensure you are always ready when things don’t go as planned (i.e. the global pandemic effect). The 2008 recession has taught Jay so much. He always aims to keep 50% of net worth (or savings) in cash. How will your business survive this outbreak? Patrick’s advice: Think of what’s the most important thing today? Examples are learning how to make sales through phone calls and online, to communication through web apps and creating higher quality content. BEST MOMENTS “The longer people live, the lower the mathematical cost is. You shouldn’t be paying more for your insurance than you did 20 years ago.” “I don’t trust China on any data they give since they don’t have any free press, any free speech.” “Everyone wants to be called an entrepreneur but some people just need not to be entrepreneurs.” “Be patient. Everyone’s going to find the leaks to everyone elses philosophies.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to the Patrick Bet-David episode of The Business Mentor Podcast on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/031-interview-entrepreneur-patrick-bet-david-founder/id1370793386?i=1000424401063 Read the article about the Wuhan coronavirus whistleblower doctor on BBC (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-51403795). The Business Mentor Podcast has already reached over 100 episodes. And Jay is not planning to stop producing business content anytime soon. He wants to continue helping you guys on your business journey, even in these hard times! The Covid-19 pandemic poses an enormous threat to the UK market, and it will affect your business. Jay gives tips today on how he survived the 2008 recession. You could apply these tips too if this outbreak leads to a recession. Time to listen in. KEY TAKEAWAYS Jay used to do paper runs until his bike got stolen. So, when this happened, he had to find another way to earn income. At 23, Jay was already starting his own business. He’s created a team of his own. We should also note that it was very easy for them to level up since everyone on the team had the same vision. But when the recession in 2008 happened, and as a first-timer in this kind of situation, Jay had a tough time to weather through. He had to lay-off some of his trusted team members and had to give up many possessions. Having a mentor helped Jay save his business. His mentor was experienced with recession and knew what viable solutions could help Jay. He then realised that he can also help other entrepreneurs, even the aspiring ones. This is also the principal reason Jay started the podcast. BEST MOMENTS “That really ceded me about business—how to create my own income.” “During recession, the job market goes first.” “Not having the ability, not having the knowledge, or not having the support network was something I really struggled with.” ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. Jay is with Simon Misiewicz founder of Optimise Accountants, he is a tax specialist with extensive experience and expertise and is answering the questions everyone wants to know the answers to, whether they are an employer, self-employed or an investor. They discuss the rapidly changing financial landscape and the moves the government are making to support businesses whether you are an employer or self-employed. Uncertainty is the new norm and this episode has practical advice and clear information that is of value to any business, in this very different time that we all find ourselves in, listen in and learn more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Furloughed employees The government is having to build a system to be able to pay employers so employers are going to need to cover furloughed employee salaries for March, April and early May prior to the Government being in a position to pay-out. Loans The British Business Bank is offering a loan and there is a holiday payment of 12 months available but you need to consider the interest that you will be paying later on. These loans will still take 2-3 months to process and your own bank or loan provider may be able to offer a loan that is cheaper and quicker than what’s on offer from the Government. If you need the money immediately start talking to your bank about what they can do to help now. VAT If someone was about to make a VAT payment then the payment does not currently have to be made, potentially providing a cash injection for your business. If your payments are via direct debit make sure you cancel it as it will take approximately 6 weeks for the money to be returned to your account. Self-employed, how will it work? One of the roles of your accountant or tax advisor is to keep your profits as low as possible so that your tax is as low as possible so it will be difficult to work out an approach or system that will be fair for everyone. Whatever is decided there will be some people who will lose. Are you self-employed if you are an investor? The government definition of self-employed is someone who is actively doing something to provide a service or sell a product. Property investment is passive, you get the money regardless of what you do, the government will not be providing assistance to investors. You need to have a contingency plan and also understand there are opportunities that you need to be prepared and ready to take action on. Everyone is in the same situation don’t be proud or bury your head in the sand communicate with others and ask for help if you need it. BEST MOMENTS ‘Whatever they bring in some people will like it and some people will loathe it, it’s a very difficult situation and any solution will be complicated’ ‘It has to be a fair and equitable number that is paid to most people’ ‘There are on online businesses that will not be affected’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Recruitment Boss http://Jay@jay-dhillon.com Optimise Accountants website Optimise Accountants YouTube ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. ‘Having a plan is vital because what you do in the second or third month of this unprecedented situation with COVID 19 is what’s going to be really important for the future’ Jay is in conversation with James Sinclair, Founder and CEO of the Partyman Group of companies. James has built a business group that encompasses leisure, childcare, outdoor attractions and a training business so his business knowledge is diverse and extensive. In this episode, Jay and James discuss the impact of COVID 19 on business and share the ways entrepreneurs with the right mindset can work through the global business ‘pause’ and be prepared to press ‘play’ and move forward in a position of strength when the global economy resumes. This is a great episode with lots of valuable content from entrepreneurs who know what it’s like and what to do to carry on moving forward, listen in and learn more. KEY TAKEAWAYS In these challenging times, the key for businesses is to act with speed. I didn’t panic I planned and we planned fast and implemented fast. I’m confident that when the play button is pressed and we start again we will be one of the strongest businesses in our sector in the UK. Every day we are in this pause phase the global and UK economy is changing. The saying cash is king has never been more important, it is vital to always have cash reserves -you have to prepare and plan so that you are ready whatever happens. If you are someone who can make stuff happen you should make stuff happen for others. It’s important not to be distracted from your business and the trajectory you have set, this is the time to be focused, now everyone has the opportunity to do what’s important but not urgent in their business. We will go into recession but this is an opportunity - more millionaires are made in times of recession than at any other time. There will be people who will lose momentum in the 3 vital ‘E’s’ of business - effort, energy and enthusiasm but those who have the stamina and tenacity and the 3 ‘E’s will be the ones who will succeed. You need to make sure you don’t forget the basics of business. As soon as the play button is pushed you’ve got to be ready to go. BEST MOMENTS ‘Once you get started the momentum kicks in’ ‘Last night I started writing my new book ‘ The Dream Team’ everyone can get on with something’ ‘We need to remember money is a digital asset and a method of control’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Recruitment Boss http://Jay@jay-dhillon.com James Sinclair website ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. If you need to cut some non-essential expenses in your company, derailing no major operations, do it. You must consider your resources and your cash flow during and after the COVID-19 outbreak. Don’t get distracted by other things. Focus on your business. Some might think this is a wonderful time to start an extra project because they haven’t had a break in so long. Well, don’t! Besides, the unpromising state of the UK market makes it more difficult to start something new. 5 Tips for Businesses Amid COVID-19 crisis: Keep your routine. Plan for 30, 60, or even 90 days. Look at your business cash flow. Keep your marketing message. Speak to your customers. BEST MOMENTS “In the short term, what I advise is, take the help.” “Maybe we can treat this as off-season so you can work on your craft.” “Look after your health.” ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. ‘It’s not about you and me it’s about all of us, we need to protect everybody’ In this episode packed with information, Jay is checking in with Dr Shan Hussain host of the Enduring Health podcast and community GP with 20 years of professional experience. They discuss the vital importance of getting accurate and legitimate information in a time where social media is a part of everyone’s lives and can be the source of much misinformation. There is great practical advice and tips that everyone can implement in this podcast, listen in and find out more. KEY TAKEAWAYS If someone has an underlying narrative and see something that supports it, it’s very easy to share without thinking about it first If you see something on social media check it and see if it’s accurate Coronavirus is a type of flu virus there is no actual treatment or vaccine for it currently It’s spreading much faster than anticipated. There will be people walking around with no symptoms who can pass it on to someone else. Most people who get it will have mild to moderate symptoms and will fight it off It is those vulnerable groups for who it is potentially, much more serious, that the current restrictions are seeking to protect. We have to do everything we can reasonably do to slow the spread People should not panic; you need to do everything you reasonably can to protect yourself without causing yourself increased anxiety and stress The difference between coronavirus and seasonal flu is the mortality rate, with the mortality rate for coronavirus being much higher There is no definitive evidence currently about whether you are immune after you have had it or if it will reoccur in the coming years. There is no cure so it’s about how to protect yourself and if you get it what you can do to fight it. Good nutrition through real foods is key to keeping healthy and this is something everyone can do. What we do now will potentially determine how long it lasts into the future. Everyone needs to do what they can to look after each and their community. BEST MOMENTS ‘I think testing should be rolled out for all health workers because they are treating others’ ‘Panic buying is a reflection of how fearful people are but that fear doesn’t serve anyone’ ‘Everybody is working so hard and it makes you proud to be part of the health profession’ ‘It’s great to have a resource such as the NHS to hand’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Recruitment Boss http://Jay@jay-dhillon.com Enduring Health Podcast ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. Early on in his Mentoring Journey, Jay was taught a very important statement; You either have to be first; or you have to be different Jay highlights the trends and anecdotal experience he has and how it supports this statement; This is as true now as it was when he first heard it. In his training business, Jay knew he wasn’t first; there were many other businesses like his business, with similar or adjacent offerings. But Jay recalled the statement and he made sure he was not only different but different first. Jay’s example was being innovative; finding a need and starting a service that no one was really doing (24-hour response calls). Jay made sure it was something he could consistently deliver and it was something he could fulfil (Jay knew he personally could manage this and his staff and business were more committed than the bigger businesses). As Jay scaled his business, he made sure he got the resources to back this as it grew (and watched the competition scramble to copy). “If you can’t be different and you’re just gonna be one of many and you’re gonna be the same thing; don’t expect greater results” Get in touch and let Jay know whether you agree or how were you first, different or perhaps both?! In this edition of the Business Mentor Podcast, Jay talks to one of the best out there, the man who’s made it his mission to conquer the biggest obstacles in his path and never look back. With several multi-million dollar ventures in his portfolio of incredible successes, and thriving on a determination to push himself through any challenge, who better to mentor you in business than this week’s guest, the peerless Mr Rafael Badziag. It’s an incredible conversation that covers everything from the importance of your team, and how to level-up through them, to the three types of people in the world today, and how to make sure that you have a chance of being in the top-tier... KEY TAKEAWAYS Everyone in business is out to succeed. What sets you apart is the drive you have, and the team that you build. It’s in the way you enhance and inspire the people who are making it happen alongside you. The ones who truly succeed are the ones who are not looking to emulate their competitors, but surpass them. It’s better to have a billionaire mind than a millionaire mind. Rafael’s companies have seen huge revenue boosts and game-changing improvements from simply adopting more effective means of communication between the team and clients, a technique he learned from the billionaires he studied and aided. Not everyone can be a billionaire, because not everyone is willing to pay the price in order to do so. There is always a price to pay for success. Being happy and being successful in business are two different goals. It’s difficult to strike the work-life balance if you’re out be a billionaire. You have to sacrifice too much. Many people cannot see the vast gulf between a millionaire and a billionaire. For someone earning £500k a year, you can become a millionaire in two years. That same person would need to have been born at the same time as Jesus Christ in order to become a billionaire. If you set your sights on becoming a billionaire, then you are not aiming to earn billions of dollars. You are aiming to add billions of dollars of value to yourself or the product you are presenting. Rafael divides the world into three categories: Drifters - those who let themselves be taken by the current, and who never over-achieve. Millionaires - the basic, standard level of those who succeed. It’s surprisingly easy, and normal, to be a millionaire. Billionaires - Those who excel. Those who adjust their mindset and realise that in order to truly overachieve, they need to add value. BEST MOMENTS ‘I was a millionaire, but it didn’t feel like success’ ‘I’d rather have a billionaire mind than a millionaire mind' ‘Billionaires are operating on the back of decades at the highest level of performance’ ‘If you want to be happy in life, then this isn;t the right way to go’ ’This is the difference in velocity of how fast you build value’ VALUABLE RESOURCES https://www.jay-dhillon.com The Business Mentor Podcast To get 83% off at Surfshark go to www.surfsharkc.om/deals/bmppodcast and use promo code BMPODCAST Get your free chapter of The Billion Dollar Secret by going to http://thebilliondollarsecret.com ABOUT THE GUEST Rafael Badziag is a Germany based global entrepreneur, top TED speaker, best-selling author and angel investor. He is a valued expert in psychology of entrepreneurship, specializing in self-made billionaires and was featured on NBC, ABC, CBS, BBC and FOX networks as well as in Forbes, CNBC, USA Today, Wall Street Journal and other leading national newspapers and TV networks in over 30 countries around the world. In the late nineties he built his first multi-million dollar business Raddiscount.de pioneering e-commerce in Europe. It was the first bike online-shop in Germany, which he developed into an established business in the German speaking market. He then expanded his ventures into an array of internet-based services and assets in several countries. His passion is learning his limits and crossing them as well as learning the limitations of the people around him and helping them to overcome those. Rafael is founder of the NoLimits project, where he fights against the limitations of his body, mind and soul. You may find him sprinting on a treacherous mountain trail, running a 111 km ultra race across the Sahara Desert, or dancing a tango on the floor of a fancy Milonga. On his English blog, NoLimits.co, he describes his extreme experiences and inspires others to follow his example, to also undertake challenges and to reach seemingly unachievable goals. The motto of this project is given by T.S. Eliot’s words: “Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” The mission here is to inspire the readers to live their lives fully with passion and zeal, to make them leave their limits behind them, so they can rise above the boundaries of mediocrity and experience their full potential, exceptional success and deep satisfaction in their lives. His expeditions and remarkable journeys have taken him several times around the world, from the ice desert of Antarctica through the hottest deserts on the planet to the Peaks of the Seven Summits. He has visited all seven continents. Rafael has given some of the most popular TED talks in history that have been watched over 3 million times. The book “Ready, Set, Go!” that he has co-authored with Brian Tracy, the world’s greatest business teacher and personal performance trainer, and some other top experts became an Amazon bestseller in multiple categories and has earned Rafael the Quilly Award. Recently, Rafael has been traveling the world and meeting the world’s most successful entrepreneurs, all of them self-made billionaires, from various regions, industries, cultures, religions and age groups. He managed to open the most inaccessible doors and got access to some of the wealthiest people on the planet. By conducting face-to-face interviews with them he was able to obtain first hand information on their methods and mindsets. He reveals their success secrets in his book “The Billion Dollar Secret” and the corresponding YouTube channel. The book reached #1 Amazon Best Seller status in several countries including USA, UK, Canada, Brasil and Germany and became a global best seller. Some people call him The Napoleon Hill of the 21st Century, others – The Billionaire Magnet. His writing and business activities have a truly global scope. Rafael is a member of the National Association of Experts, Writers & Speakers. He was recently inducted into the National Academy of Best-Selling Authors. If you’re looking for a mentor or looking to get a mentor then this episode will help you out as Jay explains how to find a suitable mentor for you, whether a mentor is for you and how you can decide whether a mentor’s for you or not. KEY TAKEAWAYS Find a mentor that’s already been there and done it. Someone who has already learned and experience the lessons. 10 years’ experience is a good amount of experience within business for a mentor. A mentor needs to have a good energy and enthusiasm about them so if you’re looking to become a mentor, you can have all of the experience but you need to have a good energy about you. Are the mentors that you’re looking at specialised in the right area of business that you need? Do their experiences and lessons have any relevance to what you’re trying to do with your business? Your mentor should have a great understanding, patience and want to with you so that you enjoy them mentoring you and you understand what they’re saying well. Don’t have a mentor that just tells you ‘yes’ because that’s not how you’re going to improve. You need someone who’s going to tell you honestly what’s good and bad so you can learn from them. You’ve got to have a great skillset in order to be a mentor. It’s all about learning the skills in order to be an effective mentor. In the brand New Studio for the 'Business Mentor Podcast' Jay talks once again to Neville Wright, self-made millionaire, mentor and motivational speaker, about his story to date. Much has happened in the past year, including the sale of his business. Neville joins Jay today for a wise, warm and witty conversation about the highs and lows in his recent business dealings, and the wisdom he’s gained along the way, all delivered in Neville’s uniquely appealing style. KEY TAKEAWAYS Opportunities come in all shapes and sizes. You need to remember to keep your eyes open and look for them whenever you can. Security doesn’t come from merely owning a property, or having money. Security is a state of mind. It’s the feeling of safety that you achieve through believing in yourself and what you can do. Don’t ever take advantage of people. It should always be a win-win situation for both of you. We’re all trying to do the best we can. One of the most common mistakes people make when their business is doing well, is that they fail to look to the future to see how they will fare. In the blink of an eye, your business model can be replaced or obsolete, so judge each offer well, and make sure your future is secure. Neville was shown the folly of regret by his own father, whose business ventures resulted in remorse, when he turned down many lucrative offers in favour of treading the same, familiar path. Life could well have been very different if he had taken the opportunities as they’d arisen. Burn your bridges - Having a trade to “fall back on” isn’t a good thing. If anything, it stops you from taking too many chances. Putting yourself out there completely forces you to think creatively. Patience and humility are most definitely the virtues that saw Neville and Kiddicare thrive. Doors were slammed in their face at the outset, but by remaining polite, professional and tenacious, they achieved their greatest success. Each day of your business’s operation is an opportunity for change. If it doesn’t change, even in an incremental way, from one day to the next, then you’re stagnating. Your core values must always remain at the heart of your business. In Neville’s case, the main tenet was to always ensure that he and his wife were working together. When this value was threatened, he drew back. Neville has used his dyslexia as a tool to drive him forward. When people put you down, it can be used as a positive, as it forces you to be more creative in terms of equalling your playing field BEST MOMENTS ’I like to keep it real’ ‘Use every minute of the day’ ’Together we were stronger’ ’I will never say “I should have”' ‘You emulate the people you admire’ ‘You have to innovate' ‘We stood out because we cared’ VALUABLE RESOURCES https://www.jay-dhillon.com The Business Mentor Podcast To get 83% off at Surfshark go to www.surfsharkc.om/deals/bmppodcast and use promo code BMPODCAST Neville Wright - www.nevillewright.com Neville Wright Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/NevilleWrightNW/ Neville Wright Twitter - https://twitter.com/NevilleWrightNW Neville Wright LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/nevillewrightmentor/ Neville Wright YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5Co_8seEmBUKxDdrF4uTkA The Answer Is Yes. Jay has a great philosophy about how to get things done when you face any challenging situation in business. The flight and fight mode of thinking is a powerful tool that Jay shares with his mentees and it has proven successful across many different challenges. During the day as entrepreneurs, you are constantly thinking and it is these thought processes that put you in either flight or fight mode. Fight mode is not positive and will not enable you to find the solution you need to move forward but if you get yourself into flight mode you are being business savvy and will be able to think creatively, find a solution and move forward. KEY TAKEAWAYS In any situation, you have to make a conscious choice about whether you respond in a fight or flight mode. Fight mode is when you are tense – looking at problems, thinking that the world is against me. It’s my fault, their fault you don’t take responsibility Flight mode is when you frame your thinking in a more positive way – e.g. If the client hasn’t paid, why haven’t they paid there must be a reason, can we sort out a payment plan. If you are in fight mode you are personally getting angry and are not thinking forward to a possible solution If you are in fight mode you are not going to get to the problem and you cannot solve a problem unless you can think creatively about it. If something negative happens you have to get into flight mode to be able to work on it and solve the problem so that you can move forward. In business, you are going to get challenges every day and so you need to be thinking about flight mode every day so that you are in the right frame of mind to solve the problems If something big happens it’s even more important that you get into flight mode so that you can think creatively to find a solution. If you have a situation – remember to ask yourself how will it best serve me if I go into fight mode? - blaming myself and blaming others? Choosing to go into flight mode means looking at the opportunities and what changes and steps you can take to make this better, and get through it successfully. BEST MOMENTS ‘When you look back you will see it was not as big as it seemed when you were facing it initially’ ‘At the time it seems massive but if you keep working through it and keep doing things, things will change’ ‘All creative thinking comes when you are in flight mode’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Recruitment Boss http://Jay@jay-dhillon.com ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. In tribute to Kobe Bryant, who has recent passed away in a tragic accident, Jay covers 10 life lessons that Kobe has inspired Jay to implement into his life to improve personally and professionally. KEY TAKEAWAYS Always have a winning mentality because if you’re telling yourself that you’re going to loose, it’s more than likely that you’re going to loose. Keep learning, improving and paying attention because you’ve got to keep studying your craft. Work hard. If you follow Kobe’s story, one thing he always stood by was working hard. He practised the same shot over and over again. Live through pain, don’t let it defeat you. Have he right mind-set to go through the pain to get that result you wanted. Huge success only comes with huge sacrifice. Dedication and sacrificing all comes along with business too and it’s something we all will have to do. Never admit defeat. If you’re defeated in your mind, you’ve already lost. Don’t loose your edge and keep what makes you you. You often become unmotivated If you loose your edge so it’s important not to loose it. Never hate your haters, use it as ammunition and energy to drive you forward to prove them wrong. Conker your fear, everyone has to start somewhere but step by step you will get better. The more you do it, they better you’ll get. Leaders can’t win population contests. You’re not going to ever please everyone. BEST MOMENTS ‘Kobe’s passed away but his legacy carries on!’ ‘The more you work, the more you get back’. ‘If you want it, you will do it’. ‘Life is short so enjoy it’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Recruitment Boss http://Jay@jay-dhillon.com ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same.
