We drive the Sacrilege Motors 911 "Blackbird" — a fully electric-converted 964-chassis Porsche 911, and answer the question: can an EV be fun? === Click here to join the Hagerty Driver's Club: https://bit.ly/Join-HDC-Cammisa-Rev === The name of the company says it all: it is sacrilege to rip out a flat-six from the back of a 911 and replace it with batteries and a motor. But calling it out as sacrilege takes the wind out of that argument, and so Derek (a 964 owner and 911-weenie) and Jason each spent some time with this $850,000 (ish) Porsche to answer the question on whether it makes sense. The answer might surprise you. It surprised both of the boys, who hadn't discussed their opinions until we hit record in the studio. Derek was, of course, violent at the idea of a Restomod 911. Called it an abomination, at least conceptually. Especially because it's a 964, the least numerous of the air-cooled variants — and the best-driving according to Derek. This is the same basic car that companies like Singer also modify, because you can backdate the styling — which isn't possible on a 993. Jason, meanwhile, loved the memory structure of the Tesla Roadster blowing his mind — the other electric convertible sports car with great steering. But did the boys like it? Love it? Hate it? Want to burn it at the stake? Only one way to find out! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Buying your dream project car is the easy part, now you have to decide what direction you need to take your build... The temperature gauge. If you're a hot rod, classic or muscle car enthusiast, that little dial can be the bane of your existence. Just picture yourself, sitting in traffic on a 95-degree day, as your eyes are locked on that little gauge waiting for it to climb to the moon. While that's happening, the fuel in the carburetor is starting to boil causing the vehicle to vapor lock and run poorly. Then there are those drum brakes, the ones that almost sent you sideways when you made that panic stop earlier – remember those? It's time folks. It's time for EFI, AC, good brakes, cooling, suspension, and power windows. It's time for reliability and enjoyment. It's also time to stop catering to those who don't own YOUR vehicle so you can start driving again with a smile on your face. There are those who will fight against this, who will say they're only original once - and they're right, but only partially, because everything currently can be undone. On this episode of the Hemmings Hot Rod BBQ Podcast, we talk about the joys of modification and how, if done correctly, they'll made your ride wonderful again.
This week the panel discusses the kerfuffle on the gridwalk at Silverstone, Ricciardo's return to an F1 seat, how new cars get more complicated designs over time, cup holders and the strong emotions they can cause, good and bad restomods, a spiteful two car garage, and driving tunes! Enjoy the 26th episode of the Collecting Addicts podcast! --- (00:00) Intro (00:23) British F1 GP (17:20) Complicated Car Design (30:37) Cup Holders (41:43) Restomod Chat (54:54) Two Car Garage (1:12:20) Driving Tunes
The weather is warming up and that means its time to talk about some fun summer cars and topics! If you're asking "What does that mean?" then consider this week's episode as a primer. First up, Benjamin revisits the 2023 Toyota GR Supra, but this time its equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. After a lukewarm reception a few years ago, Benjamin finds out if the three-pedalled variant changes things for the better, and whether the Supra is in a precarious position due to its pricing and performance. Then Sami chimes in with some sports-car stories of his own, describing his time in the 2024 Jaguar F-Type 75. A celebration of Jaguar's coupe and convertible, this model boasts plenty of power, but carries around the British brands legacy. Our hosts talk about what that means, and how the brand will continue without a two-door in the road map. Then Benjamin has some news to share about his Grand Wagoneer. Having used it as a tow vehicle for his Datsun, he experiences the ups and downs of using an older vehicle for heavy-duty work. Be sure to visit the website, send us your comments, and check out Benjamin's kickstarter for his cool new book!

We discuss Marco's background in design and how the Singer Reimagined brand came to life and evolved. An integral part of the story is the chance meeting with celebrated, award-winning watchmaker Jean-Marc Wiederrecht (7 GPHG awards!). Serendipity played its part and led to one of the most extraordinary chronograph wristwatches of all time. Join us for a superb conversation with in-depth discussion ranging from Porsche to true haute-horlogerie watchmaking and the inspiration that drives a leading designer to create a legacy brand. Jake started Bulletproof Restorations out of a bit of spite and took restomodding Internationals to a new level providing LS swaps for proper power, next level interior upgrades, and full frame off restorations and upgrades. We talk with Jake all about the restomod business and what it takes to build perfect Scout.

Today is a great father son project story and it started here as a message from today's guest: “I bought the car when it was a rolling painted body. It didn't have its engine in it, the trans, nor the driveshaft. The seats had been redone, but everything else in the interior still needed to be finished. For us, the car was a father/son restoration project in high school, and she's still my daily 5 years later. With the help of my dad, almost everything on the car has been redone” ~Niko Tatti. Ford Mustang, The Early Years Podcast -- Guest Interview Application============Do you own a early year Mustang?: yesIf you own a Mustang, how long have you owned your ride?: Almost 6 years now. What do you do for a living?:I work in the Agriculture industry in California's Central Valley. I am a quality control supervisor for a company that grows peaches, nectarines, & red/green grapes. If you own a Mustang or classic car, have you named your car? Never really named the car, but I do refer to it as a "her", "the Mustang", or "The '68". About Niko's ponyUnder the hood, she's got a late 80's 5.0 from a Foxbody Mustang, backed by the stock C-4 trans. The car was originally a C-code car, according to my Marti Report. She came with power steering, Air Conditioning, and a few other appearance options. I have since upgraded to disc brakes in the front, LED head & tail lights, new power steering parts, aftermarket stereo, Vintage Air, new aluminum radiator, electric cooling fan, and a bigger 100 amp alternator. Recently, we dropped the rear of the car 1.5" with new leaf springs, and hopefully soon, we're gonna perform a Shelby style drop in the front with coilovers. What plans do you have for improvements/restoration/modification of your classic car?:I don't see it happening within the next 5 years, but eventually I would love to perform a Coyote swap on the car and change the paint color to either a gun-metal style gray, or a midnight blue. I'm all for preserving original cars, but since my car's original 289 is nowhere to be found, I don't feel bad hot-rodding it. Classic Cars have become a thing. And the crowd tends to be classic people (that's code for old people). Why is this? Strong suggests that sports, music, movies and new car models have ignored the 55+ market, and these people have more disposable income than the 18-55 target audience. And they are spending it. Classic cars are the new black to the old guard.
Don't you love it when all the pieces come together and the car runs awesome and feels great? Kevin Oeste and Mike "Q-Ball" Clarke chat about this with regards to the recently completed 1957 Ford Thunderbird with the 5.0 Coyote V8, 6-speed automatic, and custom performance chassis built at the V8 Speed and Resto Shop. And Kevin's 1970 Buick Riviera is also tuned up and running strong thanks to the recent upgrades. The Automotive Trivia questions are stumpers once again, and the early glimpse of spring weather makes for a fun episode.
