And wait till you see his Zippo lighter! After getting his start in high school running lights for a Sinatra impersonator in the back room of a Chinese restaurant in beautiful Burbank California, David Fox worked in California as a field service technician, production electrician, house electrician, console programmer, lighting designer, and monitor engineer for  several theatres, live concert venues, feature films, and television productions. For the last 25 years, David has been at ETC starting providing frontline phone support. He then transitioned to managing technical support and customer service departments. Currently he works in the education center as the LMS Administrator and instructional designer developing training programs and presenting live and online classes. Since his start in the industry David has been passionate about learning and education believing that what we do is a craft and as such we all have a responsibility to pass along what we know to those who follow us. He presently has a passion for running, golf, volleyball, basketball and football.  A violinist since the age of 4, Dr. Lee has traveled internationally to Europe and South America to give both solo and ensemble performances. He attended the Tanglewood Music Institute on scholarship during the summer of 1996 and continued his musical studies while at Tufts, winning the University Concerto Competition in 1998 and 2001. Jack T. Leyton has been a lot of things in his life: an Air Force serviceman, a set-construction worker for motion pictures, a postal carrier, a delivery driver, he even attended multiple acting schools for a time. But none of these actually describe who Jack is at heart: a writer, wordsmith, poet and hopeless romantic. This episode offers an intimate conversation with Jack T. Leyton, shedding light on his diverse creative life as a writer and poet. The discussion showcases Leyton's most beloved music and poetry, his time working at Burbank Studios, his musical aspirations, and the deep influence of his military service in the Vietnam War. Leyton shares profound insights on the role of art in society and his personal experiences, including the impact of heartbreak on his work, living in his car, and his travels across Europe. In 2017 Jack approached Steve with an inch and a half tall notebook full of lyrics, a head full of melodies and a demonstration CD with 13 songs arranged by Los Angeles band-leader Chris Glick recorded straight from the demo instruments in Finale. In 2018 Jack decided to go for broke and record as many songs as possible with a live band in a major studio in a short amount of time. The session almost didn't happen: six months before what would become the actual session, a heart attack forced the postponement of our scheduled date. On March 9, 2018, eight session musicians, five singers, eight cameras and various personnel assembled in Burbank California to record five songs from Jack's lyric book and turn them into something people would notice. The resulting album, The Clearlake Sessions included a sixth song, recorded later that year and featured the illustrious Satin Dollz on Sparky's Burgers, a rip roaring 1940's-50's jingle in the style of The Andrews Sisters. Jack and Steve note the difficulty of relying on others to get your musical ideas out (Jack doesn't play an instrument), and Steve shares about how he only recently overcame his difficulty expressing himself through lyrics. Lee is a board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, arthroscopy, joint and cartilage preservation as well as shoulder and knee replacements. He is the team physician for the USA National Indoor Volleyball Team and will be traveling with the team to Tokyo for the 2020 Summer Olympics.Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Lee attended Tufts University where he received awards for both academic and artistic achievements. While in college, he had the unique opportunity of studying abroad in China where he studied Mandarin Chinese and Chinese Literature at Peking University.​After graduating Tufts, Dr. Lee subsequently attended the Tufts University School of Medicine where he participated in the MD/MBA program. After completing the Tufts Combined Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery, he then received his fellowship training at the San Diego Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Fellowship where he trained with international pioneers in sports medicine, arthroscopy and shoulder replacement surgery. As a fellow, he served as an assistant team physician for the San Diego State University Aztecs and the San Diego Padres Major League Baseball team. He is presently team physician for the USA National Indoor Volleyball Team, Rock N' Roll Sports Medicine, and Crescenta Valley High School. Dr. Lee has a longtime commitment to running. A track athlete in high school, he transitioned to distance running over the years and completed the Philadelphia Marathon in 2007, the Boston Marathon in 2008 and 2010 and the Chicago Marathon in 2013. As a healthcare provider, he has served as a member of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series Medical Team since 2012. He presently has a passion for running, golf, volleyball, basketball and football.  A violinist since the age of 4, Dr. Lee has traveled internationally to Europe and South America to give both solo and ensemble performances. He attended the Tanglewood Music Institute on scholarship during the summer of 1996 and continued his musical studies while at Tufts, winning the University Concerto Competition in 1998 and 2001. He has been the fortunate recipient of the Jacob Swartz Young Artist Award for solo performance and the Eugene Lehner Chamber Music Award as a member of the Rackwick Quartet.Dr. Lee has several research interests and has published in major orthopaedic journals and presented at national meetings.
