"Christmas is DYNOMITE"

In this sermon, Pastor Karl dives into First Timothy Chapter 3, exploring the roles and qualifications of church leaders as outlined by the Apostle Paul. He emphasizes that titles like elder and deacon are not about elevating status but activating service within the church. Pastor Karl unpacks the historical context of the synagogue system to clarify Paul's intent, highlighting that elders (overseers, pastors, or shepherds) and deacons (servants) are defined by their character and commitment to God's calling, not by hierarchy or prestige. With only one of the 16 qualifications for leadership tied to ability, the focus remains on living a life of faith, integrity, and service. Pastor Karl challenges the congregation to step into their God-given roles, stressing that ministry begins where ego ends and that every Christ follower is called to serve and lead in the church. Through Paul's spontaneous praise, Pastor Karl reminds us of the greatness of Jesus, who is alive and worthy of our active response to His call. In this episode, Pastor Karl kicks off a new 10-week sermon series diving into the letters of 1st and 2nd Timothy. Speaking on Mother's Day, he highlights the powerful influence of faithful mothers and grandmothers, drawing from Timothy's own story, shaped by his mother, Eunice, and grandmother, Lois. Pastor Karl emphasizes the core theme of these letters: what a Jesus community believes—its doctrine—directly shapes how it lives. Exploring 1st Timothy Chapter 1, he unpacks Paul's charge to Timothy, a young leader in Ephesus, to remain steadfast in a challenging environment, teaching sound doctrine and resisting cultural confusion. Pastor Karl outlines six reasons to "remain" in faith: hard places need hard truth, God's people are needed, God uses unworthy people, we serve a great God, the battle for faith is too important to surrender, and some have already fallen away. With passion, he calls the church to stand under Scripture, guard doctrine, and trust in God's grace to live faithfully. Join us for an inspiring start to this series, urging believers to press in and stay committed.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

In this powerful episode, Pastor Karl unpacks Romans 15 and 16, diving into the transformative "dynamite" power of the Gospel that saves, sanctifies, and stabilizes believers. Celebrating the diverse, tireless servants listed in Romans 16—like Phoebe and Priscilla—Pastor Karl challenges listeners to reject passivity and serve without seeking titles. With passion and urgency, he inspires the congregation to embrace God's inclusive plan and turn the world upside down for the Gospel.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

Ever wondered why a significant number of Americans identify as Christian but have a limited grasp of core Christian doctrines? We kick off this episode exploring this intriguing paradox, setting the stage for a deeper dive into how faith intertwines with everyday challenges. We bring you a riveting real estate story from the Ledges community, where a high-end, yet dated property posed unique selling challenges. From initial overpricing to the emotional journey of a seller looking to relocate closer to family, this narrative uncovers the rich human experiences behind market dynamics.Through personal anecdotes and reflective conversations, we examine the essence of discipleship and biblical living, particularly the delicate balance between God's sovereignty and human free will. Selling a house becomes a metaphor for life's trials, teaching us about faith and patience in divine timing. We emphasize the importance of community and accountability, underscoring how loving correction and mutual support among believers can shape a more authentic Christian life. Our discussion broadens to tackle the often-avoided topics of religion and politics, examining the historical and contemporary impact of beliefs on individual freedoms and societal norms. From the foundational perspectives of the founding fathers on virtue and society, to the erosion of Christian influence in modern America, this episode doesn't shy away from the big questions. We address the significant discrepancy between professed Christian identity and adherence to core biblical truths, stressing the necessity of genuine Christian relationships and community. Concluding with a heartfelt story of a pastor's move from Wyoming to Red Mesa, we explore themes of faith, maturity, and the pursuit of a set-apart Christian life. By Rick Beam in Rome, GA - January 27, 2024 - Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16. Our carnality seems to ebb and flow like the tide. It never truly dies. We gain momentum and then lose it. We must have vision to keep moving forward in our spiritual life. The more we can see in our mind the more real it becomes. Matthew 5, 6 and 7 are a synopsis of what is needed for true Christianity. When one rejects the law they are rejecting the mind of God and cannot ever be deeply converted. This is the final sermon in the series of fulfilling the Christian calling. If deep conversion is your goal you will want to listen to all 6 sermons in this series.

By Rick Beam in Rome, GA - January 13, 2024 - The prime enemy of the converted mind is anger. Anger can tear us out of the state of the converted mind. The work of God is not done in a framework of anger. What is most likely to keep us from continuing in His word? Resistance is generated by anger. Anger reserves a room for the devil. Anger is an issue in the life of each of us that God expects us to get a grip on. This is such an important sermon in this truly amazing series.

By Rick Beam in Rome, GA - November 4, 2023 - As members and ministers we have not always conducted ourselves in a Godly manner in our roles, relationships and responsibilities. Carnality is reflected in these three things. "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" Matt. 5:3. Being poor in spirit is the beginning of the Christian calling. It is a recognition of need and humility to go about addressing that need. Many have lost sight of their need. Pride blinds one's eyes and blocks God. It prevents one from seeing or admitting one's true needs. Pride prevents the fulfilling of our Christian calling and pride cannot come back in.

I was raised in a culture that taught me that God had a calling on my life. Now, while that is true in one sense, the way it was taught to me was that God was going to use me to do earth-shattering feats, such as take over Hollywood or evangelize Europe. Like many of you, life went on and as I entered my 20's and 30's, I started to realize that my life was a lot more “normal” than I expected. I felt discouraged, blamed myself and felt as if God had tricked me. Since then, I've done a lot of processing and have now redefined what my “calling” means. And what's my responsibility to my extended family as compared with my obligation to my immediate, nuclear family? Is there any distinction between the two? My feeling is that many believers are too quick to try to save the rest of the world when what we really need is to become more effective missionaries at home and to create stronger, godlier extended families. Unjust suffering is to be expected in the Christian life. In this sermon from 1 Peter 2:18-25, we look at Christ as our example, our provider, and our companion in suffering. We see that there are two possible reactions to injustice: we can try to vindicate ourselves, revealing that we aren't trusting God, or like Jesus, we can entrust ourselves to God and his justice, resting in his sovereignty and bringing glory to him.
