Da geht es darum, zu sehen, ob man auch noch das «Ja» finden kann. In was habe ich mich verliebt? Diese Frage kann helfen, die positiven Aspekte der Beziehung zu sehen». Sie schlägt vor, das Gespräch früh mit der Partnerperson zu suchen, um der Beziehung eine Chance auf Veränderung zu geben. Wie der Film «Fingernails» ausgeht und ob Anna sich schliesslich für ihre langjährige Beziehung mit Ryan oder für die frischen Gefühle zu Amir entscheidet, wird hier nicht verraten. Auch die Paarberatung bei Andrea Imper Kessler ist ergebnisoffen: «Wer in die Paarberatung kommt, wünscht sich, beisammen zu bleiben.» Dennoch gäbe es im Verlauf der Beratung manchmal den Punkt, an dem sie frage, «Haben Sie schon einmal an eine Trennung gedacht?» Für manche Paare sei diese Frage eine Entlastung, für viele jedoch eine Motivation, zu sagen: «Wir möchten zusammenbleiben, wir möchten an unserer Beziehung arbeiten». "Fingernails" had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, where it received positive reviews for its quirky blend of low-key sci-fi, romance, and commentary on relationships. The performances from Jessie Buckley, Riz Ahmed, and Jeremy Allen White also drew attention on top of Christos Nikou's screenplay. Christos Nikou's beguiling new film, APPLES, takes place during a worldwide pandemic that causes sudden amnesia in growing numbers. A middle-aged man, Aris (Aris Servetalis), finds himself in a hospital and later in a recovery program designed to help “unclaimed” patients build new identities. Prescribed daily tasks on cassette tapes so he can create new memories and document them on camera, Aris slides back into ordinary life, meeting Anna (Sofia Georgovasili), a woman who is also in recovery. Through images deadpan, strange and surreal, Greek writer-director Christos Nikou posits a beguiling reflection on memory, identity, and loss, exploring how a society might handle an irreversible epidemic through one man's story of self-discovery.
