This week on the Erotic Thriller Club we follow Bruce Willis to sunny Los Angeles for a tale of banging and subpar psychology! This movie pushes the boundaries of gratuitous sex scenes and how dumb you're able to treat an audience. Please join us for an absolute bad movie night classic.
Tune in as Shawn Murphy (Men Who Like Men Who Like Movies Podcast) rejoins the program to review and recap Color of Night, the 1994 erotic thriller that takes us on a wild and atmospheric ride with a color-blind psychiatrist who gets himself caught up in a murder mystery and a steamy affair simultaneously. An intense BTS feud that led to different cuts of this movie being released, drawing inspiration from giallo, the therapy group in the plot acting like a dysfunctional family, and 90s-era queer representation that's both progressive for its time and dated for our contemporary world comprise just a few of the subjects that get coverage in today's episode. Directed by Richard Rush, Color of Night stars Bruce Willis, Jane March, Rubén Blades, Lesley Ann Warren, Scott Bakula, Brad Dourif, Lance Henrikson, Kevin J. O'Connor, Andrew Lowery, Eriq La Salle, Jeff Corey, Kathleen Wilhoite, Shirley Knight, and Erick Avari. The fact that this film was even made, much less with Bruce Willis, is unbelievable. The only version available is the unrated directors cut. Good luck finding the original theatrical version. (If you do, Barry is interested in knowing where you found it.) We discuss the history of erotic thrillers, how Bruce Willis was able to succeed even though he made films like this, and all the ways this film goes over the top and just keeps going. Willis plays the worst psychoanalyst who, after a client kills herself he ends up stealing his colleagues therapy group. We get into the details of the therapy group, the longest sex scene in cinema, what makes this film gratuitous and why is could have been a comedy. Color of Night Directed by Richard Rush Starring Bruce Willis, Jane March, Ruben Blades, Scott Bakula New York psychologist Bill Capa becomes traumatised and flees to Los Angeles after one of his patients commits suicide. When a fellow doctor there is brutally murdered, the psychologist agrees to take on his clients, with chilling results.
The infamous Bruce Willis Schlong film. It's here our most scandalous film we've watched yet. Color of Night from 1994. This movie really should have more iconic cult status...its odd, its gross, it's full of tits, it's perfect for a turn on Disney Odd Pod. We discuss everything from the nudity, the tropes, the interworkings of the network of relationships, who killed Scott Bakula, and more on this week's episode. We are experimenting with abrieviated formatting and not talking through the entire movie to try and bring you a more concise and fast paced podcast, thoughts? Let us know!
In a very special episode of Film Stories, Simon is joined by writer/director Billy Ray, to chat about his career and body of work. Simon quickly gets sidetracked by the fact that Billy started off by writing for The Jetsons, but soon they're into conversation about films as diverse as Captain Phillips, Shattered Glass, Breach, Color Of Night and Hart's War. They also chat about AI in the film business, and cover a few of the films that Billy had written which never made it to the screen. It's a bit of a packed hour, this, and there's much that's discussed... Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

What's the color of night? Color of Night leaves this one unanswered.
Erotic Thriller month continues as we compare the worst scene in 1981's Body Heat, exactly the sort of sexy noir film you'd expect from the man who'd just written The Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Ark vs the best scene in 1994's Color of Night, a film that really puts the "willy" in the name Bruce Willis. Comedian Aviva Siegel joins the usual idiots who host this show.
It was a month of misfortune for Disney: August 1994 brought four separate flops, though one was clearly better than the others. Touchstone gave us IT'S PAT: THE MOVIE, a poor attempt to bring the popular SNL character to the big screen. What can you say about it? Not much, and Mike and Chad preferred it that way. From there, the co-hosts turned to Hollywood Pictures, which churned out another Pauly Shore "comedy" (IN THE ARMY NOW), an erotic thriller (COLOR OF NIGHT), and an enjoyable film aimed at a pre-teen audience (CAMP NOWHERE). Disney's attempt to "cast the net wide" by releasing films in different genres aimed at different audiences at roughly the same time may not have worked, but it still made for a lively discussion on this episode.

Today we're going to focus on a most enlightening and challenging topic… 1994's COLOR OF NIGHT. Perhaps the closest Kill By Kill After Dark will ever get to discussing an actual crime. We dig into everything, including sexy Brad Dourif, aiming parked cars as a weapon, achieving “Love That Joker” face, rattlesnake deliveries, lesbian harmonica accompaniment, and Gena genuinely stumps Patrick when it comes to the films they've covered in After Dark so far. Color of Night (1994) is an erotic thriller starring Bruce Willis and Jane March, directed by Richard Rush. This was the film that really gave us the kick in the pants to start this podcast. It is a wild, confusing ride, that is both satisfying and bewildering. As of today, in order to watch the Director's Cut, you'll need to purchase it. We recommend Kino Lorber's Blu-ray release, which has both versions of the film with some lovely commentary. If you'd rather not own this film (but, why?

This week’s movie, Color Of Night, may be one of the oddest recommendations we have ever received. I mean when listener Leo Logan told us he wanted us to do a movie starring Bruce Willis, the 3 of us obviously assumed he was going to say the infamous Hudson Hawk…well what we got was something even more ridiculous. This movie has some of the oddest music choices, odd editing, a whacky who dunnit plot, off the wall dialogue, and an insane sex scene that includes a quick glimpse at Little Bruno. The film, also starring Scott Bakula, Brad Dourif, & Lance Henrickson, is about a color-blind psychiatrist who is stalked by an unknown killer after taking over his murdered friend’s therapy group, all of whom have a connection to a mysterious young woman that he begins having intense sexual encounters with. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bmoviebreakdown/support
