You know when you're watching a terrible film and you can't work out why that great actor is in it? We sure do, and we made lists of our top five ever such appearances. But before we get to that we have a quiz that Duff employed AI to write for him. What could possibly go wrong...?
Our reviewers take on three crime films set in Hollywood across the latter half of the 20th Century. Greg admits to watching his first-ever Tarantino film. If that's not crime enough, Richard corners him into summarising the plot of David Lynch's mystifying “Mulholland Drive”. But Greg triumphs by bringing a credible explanation to the table that could possibly involve goldfish on a casting couch. Or does he…? Hey y'all! Sorry for the late upload, the Sydney Film Festival has kicked off and is all we can think about at the moment! Our episode about what we watched during the time is coming soon! Today, Joel and Jesse select ten film franchises each, five good and five bad, and single out the one film in the franchise that is different, either for the best or for the worst. This is less of an educated film discussion, and more the boys paying each other out for an hour, as there are franchises on Joel's good list on Jesse's bad list AND vice versa. This one's a ton of fun, we hope you enjoy! - Also, make sure to check us out on Instagram (@bromaxpod) to keep up with new eps and polls, and leave us your ideas for upcoming episodes! - Also, our merch is still active on Redbubble, so make sure to have a browse of our range over there. - Also, subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or Google Podcasts so you never miss an episode! Please feel free to use our Spotify Q&A and rate us 5 stars on whatever platform you use. - Also, you can follow us on TikTok (please), where we are posting daily including behind-the-scenes content! - Also, are you on Letterboxd? On this Jeff Rona interview: Jeff gets in-depth and personal, sharing his journey to the top, and it definitely wasn't easy. Getting turned on to soundtracks and the career and musical doors this opened… how he got session work and ultimately ghostwriting for movies. Starting and growing his Music Library, Liquid Cinema… Types of music that get licensed most… when you're most “qualified” to do pretty much anything… Cool stories about working with Hans Zimmer, Barry Levinson, Maurice White, Don Ellis (very cool!), Jon Hassell, Brian Eno, and others… How he markets his production company, KEY things you need to know about working with and forming healthy and productive relationships with producers, directors, and music supervisors… Questions to ask that help you determine how to write your scores. A terrible tragedy his parents dealt with, low points in his life and how he dealt with them. AWESOME convo, super sincere, tons of insight into the licensing business! Films So Bad, They're Actually GoodGuest: Jeffrey Sconce, Associate Professor in the Screen Cultures program at Northwestern University‘Badfilm' is a genre long characterized by movies “so bad that they are actually good.” What makes a truly great badfilm? Citizen KaneGuest: Harlan Lebo, author, "Citizen Kane: A Filmmaker's Journey"The making of "Citizen Kane," long recognized as one of the greatest films ever made, has a story as interesting as the movie itself. The Real Lawrence of ArabiaGuest: Eugene Rogan, Professor, Modern Middle Eastern History, and Director, Middle East Centre, University of OxfordFew true stories have inspired more awe than that of T.E. Lawrence, better known as Lawrence of Arabia. Winston Churchill said of Lawrence, “I deem him one of the greatest beings alive in our time . . . we shall never see his like again. His name will live in history. It will live in the annals of war. . . . It will live in the legends of Arabia.” The 1962 film about Lawrence also became iconic. How well did the film capture the legend?
I mean, it literally describes the podcast. I'm not sure what more to tell you.
Jeffrey Sconce breaks down the genre of 'bad film,' movies "so bad that the are actually good." Harlan Lebo, author of "Citizen Kane: A Filmmaker's Journey," reveals that the filming of Citizen Kane was just as engaging as the film itself. Eugene Rogan of the University of Oxford reveals the story behind the legendary Lawrence of Arabia.

As the world & the nerds slow down, we still have nerdy news to talk about: Ahsoka Tano’s story is not over and Alan & Shawn talk about what she could be up to and what they want to see. Plus, when movie theaters open, what will show? Is this the end of movie theaters? […]
Did like 20 minutes on bananas for this one. Running out of shit to say? No, we are simply scratching the surface of our agricultural and horticultural information base. Novelist Diana Evans discusses Singular, her new short story specially commissioned for Radio 4 which explores the idea of whether happiness is necessarily dependent on companionship. With all the checks and balances in Hollywood, how do rotten movies ever get made, what makes them so awful, and are some so bad they're good? Film critics Mark Eccleston and Amanny Mohamed discuss the appeal of the turkey. Presenter John Wilson Producer Jerome Weatherald

Unhappy hour continues and all the misanthropes drink for free, it's part two of our Great Directors, Bad Films trilogy! We're looking at Tim's pick, the no-budget, shot-in-six-days shitshow, Highball, directed by Noah Baumbach. The recipe for this instalment? It's simple - a splash of terrible characters, a dash of awful camerawork, two shots of shitty storytelling and a jigger of the most painfully unfunny screenwriting this side of North. Don't forget to give it a cyanide-salt rim if everything gets too much for you.You don't want to miss this one! Woeful depictions of mental health, wannabe-Richard Linklater dialogue, terrible 90s gay panic jokes and one member of the show gets very angry indeed. The strongest of strong language in this one, you've been warned!
Great Directors, Bad Films 2 kicks off with one of the 90s most infamous flops: John Frankenheimer's The Island of Dr. Moreau. A tale of deceit, hubris, and weird looking humanoids (and that's just the troubled production), the gang get to grips with Marlon Brando's enormous ego, as well as his vast waistline, Val Kilmer's prima donna demands, and the titular Dr. Moreau's choice wardrobe decisions. Plenty of insane behind the scenes stuff in this one, don't miss out!
Great Directors, Bad Films season 2 ends with a dino-sized bumper episode, it's Steven Spielberg's The Lost World: Jurassic Park! Is this so-called "decent classic" as good as you remember? Probably not, as the gang get to grips with disappearing characters, Jeff Goldblum's non-heroic starring role, the most laissez-faire reaction to a T-Rex rampage ever and how John Hammond is the real villain of the film.Plus things get sexy with a fan-submitted story that dulled some senses and heightened others. Plenty to sink your teeth into on this en-raptor-ing episode. Don't miss out!
The first in Video Negative's series of "Great Directors, Bad Films" sees Dan pick one of Roger Ebert's most beloved films, Rob Reiner's 1994 honker North. The gang take apart the film that seemingly ended Reiner's streak of incredible run of great cinema, and enter a slump he's not left since. The crew are aghast at the god-awful humour - none of which finds its mark - the misuse of a huge, talented cast, and all the horrendous ethnic stereotyping on display. Plus, Tim reveals a very revolting alternative definition of an Eskimo Pie.
We land on barren fields in the Arizona plains, as the three teenagers from Mars (neither of those are true) take on Tim Burton's surprisingly rubbish sci-fi/disaster parody/homage/rush job Mars Attacks, the second in the Great Directors, Bad Films season. Why does it take forever for things to get going? Why is such a talented cast misused so badly? Just how scared of this film was Ol as a child and which all time classic film does he hate? All this and more on the latest episode of the Indescribable! Unbelievable! Indestructible! Video Negative Podcast.https://soundcloud.com/video-negative/mars-attacks-episode-17
Surf's up on the wild wild west coast! It's 2013, and anyone caught doing anything remotely fun is exiled to a run down Los Angeles where they're forced to listen to bad nu metal. Yes, it's John Carpenter's 1996 sequel Escape from LA, the final part in the Great Directors, Bad Films trilogy. It's gang warfare on this instalment of the Video Negative podcast, as Tim faces off against Dan and Ol over two very differing opinions of this much maligned/deservedly hated (whichever way you look at it) sci-fi yarn. Also featured: the gang run down the top 5 worst special effects out of the films they've looked at, Ol details why he loves John Carpenter so much, and plenty more inductees into the Vid Neg hall of shame. Plenty of mass debating on this one!

Alex and Andy are sad to announce that this episode is a review of the latest Transformers film, they wish with every fibre of their beings that it wasn't but it is. Such is the way of the world. It's a slightly scattershot review of a very scattershot film, do they enjoy it? Not really... Find us at Dinosaur Man Nerdcast on Facebook or @DinosaurMan15 on Twitter. Like what you're hearing? This week we switch things up and talk about good directors who have made a bad film.
There is no such thing as a good film. Here at Flix, I am very conscious to try to avoid describing films as simply good or bad, because it's all subjective. There are many factors, entirely aside from quality, that might inform your opinion regarding a particular film. Here, myself and friend of the show Robin Persaud detail some of the films we love, but the world at large seem to almost unanimously believe are bollocks. Are there any of your favourites in here? What are some of your (possibly) guilty pleasures?
Has it really been 365 days since our first episode went live? 2016 was a year of ups and downs, but the Bad Films in Good Company podcast is still going strong. This week Alec and Ellen have been diagnosed with a serious case of Girl Power, as they watch the 90’s Pop Classic Spice World and ponder how many regrettable 90’s cameos is too many regrettable 90s cameo’s. Ellen is creeped out by the concept of grown men being sexually attracted to Baby Spice, Alec lashes out at Australia and both are soothed by the rakish sexual appeal of Richard E Grant. Our medically qualified*hosts also invent new Spice Girls of their very own! *lies, lies for tiny eyesClick to view: show page on Awesound
After a few weeks working on episodes separately, Matt and Ed are reunited this week to talk about Ed's trip to New York, the week's news, and the many instances where great directors have delivered absolute stinkers. Here is The Ringer article that end mentions during the News section.
We made it! 50 episodes deep into this preposterous experiment we get into the nitty gritty. Guilty pleasures. Andy and Alex choose the films that they love that aren't seen as 'good'. What are your guilty pleasures? Do you have secret love for a terrible film? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter @Dinosaurman15
Welcome to the Bad Films in Good Company Podcast, searching for the best things from the worst movies. It’s Amazon Pilot season again and Team BFGC have a have a favour to ask. We want all our listeners to watch and vote for Jean-Claude Van Johnson in this current run. It’s a show where JCVD plays JCVD. Only this Van Damme is also a black ops guy using his international location shoots as cover for his non-acting work. It’s a self-referential, self-deprecating action comedy with JCVD poking fun at himself and is exactly the kind of show we want to see more of. After this heartfelt plea, we go on to have a discussion about other TV shows that we’re currently enjoying, both past and present. What are you watching at the moment? Drop us a line and let us know: Email: bfgccast@gmail.com Twitter: @bfgcpodcast Facebook: www.facebook.com/groups/BFGCPodcast/ iTunes: apple.co/1R4SNZJ
Welcome to Bad Films in Good Company, a weekly movie podcast trying to find the best things, from the worst films. In a packed show we recap some recent news stories inc.: - Dirty Rotten Sex Change - Comedy Calamity - Vorhees a Jolly Good Fellow - Exorcist: Made for TV Version We also pick a trailer of the week, and bring you a report from our international correspondent in a brand new section. Finally we turn things upside down in our spoiler filled review of Stranger Things: Take a splash of Stephen King, a soupcon of Spielberg and the juice of John Carpenter. Mix them up in a bowl and you get Stranger Things, the latest smash-hit TV show from Netflix. Creators the Duffer Brothers have crafted this show as a love letter to early 1980s cinema. Are they able to conjure something with depth or is it simply a case of style over substance. But will this revitalise Winona Ryder’s career? How many children do you actually need for an adventure? And will any 80s filmmakers need to have a word with their lawyers about this show? Join us as we check whether this homage is a blast from the past, or if it should be consigned to history. We experience The Puzzling Evidence show from KPFA Berkeley last February, with hosts Puzzling, Philo Drummond, Dr. Hal, and special guests Kaosmic Bobkat, Rev.
