5 fascinating and in depth Bible studies based on the life and time of Job. The biblical book of Job tells the story of a man named Job who is known for his righteousness. Job is suddenly subjected to a series of unimaginable tragedies and losses, including the death of his children, the destruction of his property, and the deterioration of his health. 3 friends come and speak with Job and together they grapple with the reason behind Job's suffering. In their discourse profound questions about the nature of human suffering, the role of God, and the appropriate response of a believer in times of distress are raised. Job's friends offer conventional explanations for his suffering, suggesting that he must have committed some grave sin. However, Job maintains his innocence and demands answers from God. Later, another man, Elihu comes on the scene. He challenges Job further. Finally God Himself speaks but does not give the participants the answer they might have expected. This divinely inspired book challenges simplistic notions of cause and effect, illustrating that suffering is not always a direct consequence of personal sin. Instead, it encourages believers to approach suffering with humility, honesty, and a willingness to wrestle with difficult questions. It elevates the position of God to His rightful place – as supreme and righteous. It highlights the futile nature of man. The story of Job provides a powerful lesson about the appropriate response to suffering, emphasising the importance of faith, trust, and perseverance in the face of adversity. Its thought-provoking narrative makes it an amazing book to study for those seeking a deeper understanding of the complexities of human suffering and the nature of faith. In this series, taken from Swanwick Bible School in the UK in May 2023, Bro Matt Davies of Mumbles takes listeners through an overview of this amazing and challenging book.

The saints find comfort in the knowledge that God controls all things, and all things that happen come from His decree. The book of Job makes it clear, that the tribulation Job suffered was from the Lord.----The death of Jesus was a further example. The disciples could not understand why God would not stop the crucifixion of Jesus, because they did not understand God's purpose in it. Meanwhile, Christ was doing the awful work to save His people from sin and judgment and bring eternal life to all who trust in Him-----One thing Job yearned for in his horrible trials was a Daysman, or an intercessor or mediator, between himself and God. Job complained of the great inequality that exists between himself and the Almighty, and wished there were someone who could plead for him.----Believers have now what Job did not have- we have a Savior, a great High Priest, our Lord Jesus- By the incarnation, we have God with us in the flesh- Our Jesus is both God and man, and therefore, He is the perfect intermediary between God and man.----Christ represents us to God on an equal footing with God, as He is the Second Person, God manifest in the flesh. Indeed, Hebrews tells us that Christ is the very image of the Godhead, and the brightness of His Glory-----Because Jesus was given a body, in which He would suffer in the place of His poor sinful people, He has been perfected as our high priest. He has suffered in His humanity, and is a merciful and faithful high priest to make reconciliation for the sins of His people.----He can encourage and sustain His people, because He Himself has suffered in the same trials and temptations as His people.----Christ has fully experienced all our sorrows.

Set Your Mind “Mind Set” – Part 2 (Set Your Mind) Text: Colossians 3:2-5 Colossians 3:2-5 (NKJV) 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. 5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Psalm 150:1-6 1Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. 2Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. 3Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. 4Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. 5Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. 6Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. 2 Chronicles 20:18-22 18And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD. 19And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high. 20And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. 21And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. 22And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. Psalm 103:1-5 1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. If you want to make the enemy look SMALL, then make God look BIG with your praise. PRAISE DOESN'T CHANGE GOD'S POWER, IT CHANGES OUR PERSPECTIVE! (It sets our MINDS on things above) Magnify the Lord in praise! Psalm 34:1-4 1 I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. 3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. •YOU CAN SET YOUR MIND THROUGH PRAISE… If you LAUNCH THE WEAPON OF PRAISE TO GOD – you will live in victory! In the midst of his misery, Job was searching for how could he be made just before God. He believed it would be so, but Job did not know the New Testament message of justification by the blood of Jesus Christ. He was searching for a daysman - a mediator - who could place his hand upon both parties and reconcile the offense and divide. In the gospel, we are given the answer that Job did not have - that we have a daysman, the man Christ Jesus who reconciled us back into fellowship with Almighty God.
