Welcome back for season four of the Glass and Out Podcast! We have an amazing guest to kick things off, as we welcome Tom Ward, Head Coach of the Shattuck-St. Mary's Boys Prep Team. Shattuck is the prep school hockey powerhouse based out of Faribault, Minnesota, that has produced the likes of Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Jonathan Toews, Zach Parise, Jack Johnson, Drew Stafford, and many more. But while the list of elite talent and number of championships is impressive, what really stands out about the program is a culture grounded in hard work, sweat and a philosophy that every player, regardless of their pedigree or resume, has to earn their spot. In this week's podcast, we find out about Ward's coaching journey, that includes a stop in the NHL, the importance of developing the person before the player, and his role in creating one of the top prep programs in all of hockey.
Drew Stafford and Ben Lovejoy (35:16) talk about life after hockey and new pursuits with Matt Loughlin and Amanda Stein, and then the OHL's first female scout, Kiana Scott, chats with Catherine Bogart all on Speak of the Devils.

We had some thoughts on Drew Stafford's Players Only Meeting.
So... Drew Stafford hasn't looked half bad lately, that's something.
With training camp beginning, we're going to clear the board on all remaining topics from the summer. We'll discuss the Prospects Challenge from Buffalo, where the Devils went 2-1 with many players standing out. Darren Dreger reported that the Devils are in the mix on Erik Karlsson so we discussed that (36:35), Drew Stafford on a PTO (46:55), Taylor Hall changing agents (51:46), Deb Placey leaving the broadcast and Erika Wachter named the new gamenight host (55:15) and the details on "Behind The Glass" (1:08:05).
As we continue on through our player grades, today we'll discuss the play of Stefan Noesen and Drew Stafford. While Noesen was able to assert himself as a contributing player in 2017-18, the signing of Drew Stafford paid early dividends, but failed to produce results as the season went on. Two Devils prospects will be playing for the Memorial Cup, as Colby Sissons of the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL and Marian Studenic of the Hamilton Bulldogs in the OHL both have qualified and won their respective leagues.
It wasn't pretty, but it was the two points that the Devils sorely needed to get. Despite falling behind early and entering the third period down 4-3, Taylor Hall scored late for the Devils to force overtime. Drew Stafford potted the lone goal for either side in the shootout, as Keith Kinkaid stood tall in the extra session and the shootout to help guide the Devils to a much needed win. We'll break down the contest and we're joined by Matt Loughlin at the 30 minute mark.

Hello, and welcome!, to a brand new episode of the million-times-downloaded Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! The road to two million downloads begins now. Will we get there before the end of the season? With the benefit of having a full week of games played since the NHL trade deadline, Elan and Brian share their picks for the players who've seen their values rise the highest and fall the lowest as a result of all the dominoes falling not 7 days ago. The guys review the latest line combos on all affected teams, and pick out situations that they're liking and not liking for both team and player. Your intrepid hosts also discuss the aptitude of a Hurricanes top sixer, the unreliability of forwards in Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh, the baffling case of one particular Blue Jacket holding down top power play deployment, the disappearance of a recently emerged blue-liner in Montreal, the quiet triumphs of an under-the-radar Penguin forward and Blues defenseman, and their serious, deep concerns about whether Ottawa or New Jersey will ever score again. Cross your heart and say your prayers, it's another cuss-free episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! This week, Elan and Brian are feeling just peachy about the healthy returns of an apparent #1 goalie and a top line winger in Detroit, the apparently brief return of the Ducks' #1 goalie, and the hopefully fruitful return of a top line Canadien. But doggone it, even more players are off to the infirmary this week. The guys talk about the lineup and fantasy implications of injuries to a Metro starting goalie who was probably in need of rest anyway, a laundry list of Penguins, a struggling Panthers blueliner, a couple key pieces of Ottawa's top six, and a few key pieces of Tampa Bay's top nine. Bless the players whose production we can be thankful for, including a non-squeaky wheel in Philadelphia, several nondescript forwards in Carolina, a promoted hitter in Washington, a pair of persisting depth scorers in Columbus, and one of this year's stealthier breakouts. And, of course, we trust the hockey gods will shepherd back those players who may have lost their way, including a number one goalie not living up to his elite billing, and a King who is struggling far more than we'd anticipated. Players discussed on this episode include Jimmy Howard, Petr Mrazek, Gustav Nyquist, Henrik Zetterberg, James Reimer, Steve Mason, Sami Vatanen, Patrik Eaves, Ryan Getzlaf, John Gibson, Jonathan Bernier, Jhonas Enroth, Rickard Rakell, Alex Radulov, Henrik Lundqvist, Antti Raanta, Magnus Hellberg, Jake Guentzel, Connor Sheary, Patric Hornqvist, Carl Hagelin, Aaron Ekblad, Michael Matheson, Jason Demers, Jaromir Jagr, Jonathan Marchessault, Thomas Vanek, Jussi Jokinen, Reilly Smith, Kyle Turris, J.G. On the 83rd instalment of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast, we increase the goalie content to lead off this week's show. 'Tenders are struggling everywhere you look, and Elan and Brian break down the short- and long-term future of starter jobs in Anaheim, Colorado, Arizona, Edmonton and Chicago, including some reserved excitement for a Winnipeg call-up looking to make a strong first impression in his hopefully imminent first NHL start. We then begin our tour around the NHL's hot streaks and line changes by lavishing unexpected praise upon a young Western Conference forward who has taken his share of beatings on the show over the last 13 months-- we tell you what he's doing, why you should be happy about it, and why we might actually be believers this time around. That roundup also includes a member of the family in San Jose, an ever-fluctuation Tampa top-six, minor shuffling in Winnipeg, surprising non-shuffling in Detroit, and obviously Edmonton, where we talk about a new entry into the top six, a recent exit out of it, and then go on to mention Draisaitl's name roughly one hundred and forty two times. The show also covers some likely free agent defencemen who could be good multi-cat and streaming options for the next shot while, including a Ranger, a Capital, a Flyer and kind of a Cane but not really. This episode also features a handful of snoozers peppered throughout-- these are guys who are likely owned in your league, possibly even by you(!), whose worth to their owners needs to be seriously re-evaluated. We tAnd finally, the show caps off with a Lightning Round featuring more players than initially promised, including Washington's scoring leader, a crowded second line in Florida, and a still-got-it scorer in Toronto.Players discussed on this episode include Frederik Andersen, Cory Schneider, Anton Khudobin, Reto Berra, Tanner Pearson, Tyler Toffoli, Vladislav Namestnikov, Nikita Kucherov, Mike Smith, Anders Lindback, Drew Stafford, Nik Ehlers, Teddy Purcell, Nail Yakupov, Leon Draisaitl, Jussi Jokinen, Evgeni Kuznetsov, Brandon Pirri, Shane Gostisbehere, P.A. Like a new baby being born into the world, Elan and Brian are pushing out a brand new episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! This week's show begins by sizing up most impactful and relevant players who've flown the coop since the trade deadline, and the players they may have displaced. This includes a visit to Washington and St. Louis's even strength and powerplay blueline setups, the blue paint situations for the Lightning and Kings, the top nine in Minnesota and Boston, defensive depth in Pittsburgh, and a couple floaters in Ottawa. The guys then shed light on those who've come out bruised and/or battered, including Florida's sort-of-but-not-so-much-anymore #1 goalie, a Devil we know, a Sabre that had just gotten rolling, and a Star that never really had a chance. We also pontificate on the healthy return of an Isle blueliner. Some players are hot this week! They include a lower-key sophomore and a once again promising forward in Buffalo, a couple Taylor Hall linemates, a Habs goalie who may also just be considered as being back to normal, a Flames goalie who we wonder whether this might be his normal, and a Calgary d-man who we wish it still could be his normal. Some players are cold this week. They include a top six Penguin who otherwise looks fantastic, a sobering season by a Coyotes defenseman that has cut back on taking shots, a Canes blueliner still taking shots but not getting anywhere, a New York top six/niner who has lost his early season sheen, and a couple of Avs forwards whose performances personify the mess in Colorado.Players discussed on this episode include Jonathan Quick, Ben Bishop, Peter Budaj, Andrei Vasilevskiy, Martin Hanzal, Kevin Shattenkirk, John Carlson, Matt Niskanen, Alex Pietrangelo, Colton Parayko, Alex Steen, Mark Streit, Connor Sheary, Chris Kunitz, Sidney Crosby, Patric Hornqvist, Valtteri Filppula, Steve Mason, Drew Stafford, Michal Neuvirth, Ryan Spooner, Frank Vatrano, Alex Burrows, Viktor Stalberg, Roberto Luongo, James Reimer, Thomas Vanek, Kyle Okposo, Evander Kane, Ryan O'Reilly, Jack Eichel, Michael Cammalleri, Travis Zajac, Kyle Palmieri, Taylor Hall, Antoine Roussel, Jason Spezza, Jiri Hudler, Ales Hemsky, Travis Hamonic, Josh Ho-Sang, Nate Prosser, Nick Leddy, Johnny Boychuk, Carey Price, Alex Radulov, Brian Elliott, Michael Ferland, Mark Giordano, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Mike Smith, Louis Domingue, Justin Faulk, Jacob Slavvin, Brett Pesce, Noah Hanifin, Matt Duchene, Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon, Mika Zibanejad and more. * * * Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! Welcome to a special mid-week edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! Listen now, or save it for your usual Sunday night or Monday morning listening-- the choice is yours! Several outjuries are eyeing prime playing spots on their rosters, including yet another mid-six Ranger putting up top six numbers, a couple mid-six Jets with potential to step into a top six role, and a hard-luck Habs winger who would be happy to help spark his squad. The guys also chat about Andrei Markov and what his ceiling for the rest of the year could be. Hot streaks carry the rest of the main show, as we circle back to a minor league call-up in St Louis that we zoomed past last week, a trio of Isles who may be feeling some of the weight lifted off of their shoulders since a coaching change, a New Jersey forward who is very quietly on pace to post the best numbers of his career, a Colorado rookie finally hitting the scoresheets, a Sabres forward who's clicking and ticking most of his boxes on a new line, a Panthers defenseman who looks to lead the blueline down the homestretch, and a Columbus centreman taking a run at reclaiming his depth value. Players discussed on this episode include Kevin Hayes, Mika Zibanejad, Connor Hellebuyck, Drew Stafford, Mathieu Perreault, Ondrej Pavelec, Brendan Gallagher, Andrei Markov, Shea Weber, Kris Russell, Travis Konecny, Shane Gostisbehere, Kenny Agostino, Alex Steen, Jake Allen, Carter Hutton, Andrew Ladd, Brock Nelson, Ryan Strome, Adam Henrique, Mikko Rantanen, Calvin Pickard, Nicklas Backstrom, Philipp Grubauer, Evander Kane, Keith Yandle, Brandon Dubinsky, Cam Atkinson, Charlie Coyle, James Neal, Viktor Arvidsson, David Backes, David Krejci, Matt Beleskey, David Pastrnak, and more. * * * Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! After a two week 'break' that saw us release two bonus episodes, Elan and Brian are back for the first 'regular' episode Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast of the year. This edition opens with an injury and a rant, as Brian lets the world know what he thinks of 'clean hits' in the wake of Patrik Laine's concussion. The guys go on to pinpoint a few rosters that have been hit particularly hard by the injury bug-- Nashville, Montreal, and Florida-- and assess the absences of a scoring winger that poolies, Kings fans, and maybe even Anze Kopitar would love to have back, as well as a first line forward in the desert who is obviously Martin Hanzal. Outjuries come next, with the guys rueing the return of not just a goalie but a goalie controversy in Philadelphia, lauding a rejuvenated lot of top six forwards (and perhaps another goalie controversy to be imminently reignited) in Tampa Bay, wondering whether there's room for more than one productive blueliner in Pittsburgh, and realizing there's not much new to say about the returns of an injury-prone Blackhawk and Hurricane. A short goalie-centric interlude follows, where the league's newest number one goalie's tier placement is assessed, hope is shared regarding a long-standing tandem situation morphing into a clearer #1/#2 scenario, and hope is dashed by two guys who refuse to run away with the starters' job when given the opportunity. Hot streaks feature an entire line of flaming Flames, a near-entire top six of Wild running wild, and an entire touchdown of Leafs who are making it harder to use the word 'Leafy' as a negative connotation. A surprising scoring leader in Vancouver, not either of the first three blueliners you'd guess in Washington, a couple young Red Wings and a pair of Pups (that's what you call a baby shark) round out the segment. And finally, the show closes with cold streaks, with unsurprising visits to the infamous 3rd line in St Louis, and the higher lines in Colorado. Players mentioned on this episode include Patrik Laine, Mikael Backlund, Bo Horvat, Michael Frolik, Kevin Fiala, Aaron Ekblad, Tyler Johnson, Victor Hedman, PK Subban, Matthew Tkachuk, Kris Letang, Justin Schultz, Connor Brown, Zach Hyman, Anze Kopitar, Jeff Carter, Ryan Strome, Kevin Labanc, Timo Meier, Jacob Trouba, Drew Stafford, Nik Ehlers, Joel Armia, Mark Scheifele, Dustin Byfuglien, Roman Josi, Mattias Ekholm, Ryan Ellis, James Neal, Viktor Arvidsson, Juuse Saros, Pekka Rinne, Tyler Toffoli, Milan Lucic, Jake Muzzin, Alec Martinez, Alex Barkov, Nick Bjugstad, Seth Griffith, Alex Galchenyuk, Brendan Gallagher, Paul Byron, Philip Danault, Nathan Beaulieu, Martin Hanzal, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Radim Vrbata, Michal Neuvirth, Steve Mason, Nikita Kucherov, Ondrej Palat, Jonathan Drouin, Vladislav Namestnikov, Andrei Vasilevskiy, Ben Bishop, Marian Hossa, Artemi Panarin, Jonathan Toews, Vinny Hinostroza, Justin Faulk, Ty Rattie, Derek Ryan, Victor Rask, Jeff Skinner, Jaroslav Halak, Thomas Greiss, Andrew Ladd, John Gibson, Jonathan Bernier, Brian Elliott, Chad Johnson, Alex Chiasson, Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau, TJ Brodie, Charlie Coyle, Mikael Granlund, Mikko Koivu, Zach Parise, Eric Staal, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, James van Riemsdyk, William Nylander, Jake Gardiner, Morgan Rielly, Dmitry Orlov, Loui Eriksson, Anthony Mantha, Andreas Athanasiou, Alex Steen, Jaden Schwartz, Tyson Barrie, Matt Duchene, Torey Krug, John Klingberg, Jon Carlson and more. * * * Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! The trade deadline has come and gone, and that means a bunch of new players in a bunch of new jerseys with a bunch of new linemates, all of which will be covered on this week's brand new edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast!Elan and Brian begin this week's show by cataloguing the myriad injuries plaguing (fantasy) teams, and which free agent acquisitions could help fill the void for both their real-life clubs and fantasy owners. Top line players hitting the shelf in Edmonton, Ottawa and Dallas highlight the segment, as well as goaltending boo-boos in New York, Ottawa, Dallas, Winnipeg, Columbus and New Jersey.Meanwhile, some healthy goalies have been knocked out of their crease for just plain ol' playing badly, and so we're also keeping tabs on evolving 'tender situations in Colorado, Detroit and Philadelphia. The show rolls on with an eye towards the most high profile players that were traded on deadline day, along with a couple under-the-radar choices whose value may have risen thanks to their new digs. We take a look at changes of scenery for a new Avalanche, Coyote, Ranger, Bruin and Duck. Finally, the show closes out with our notes on who's hot and cold over the last week or two. We tip our hat to a Penguin whose name Elan loves to say in a special way, a trio of Predators playing from the so-called second line, a pair of Lightning who need to shape up before they're shipped off, a sneaky depth blueline add making muffled noise in Vancouver, and a Detroit duo who have both gone MIA at the worst time.A reminder to our listeners that SeatGeek is offering you a $20 rebate off your first purchase!
