Wait til you hear about our NFL ring ceremony concept...Jonah is back in from his Fresh year of college and contributes in a big way. Maria can best be described as mildly bemused and tolerant as the guys propose the following:1) What would you do if you had the Stanley Cup for a day?2) A total reimagining of the NFL Super Bowl ring ceremony. What if NFL Super Bowl rings were turned over every year like the Stanley Cup? 50 yard line, previous winners line up across from new winners and (Benny Hill theme starts playing) each player has to find another one to wear his ring.Would there be Red Carpet event fan overlap for the Super Bowl if there was a week long leadup with players discussing the rings, their potential outfits for the ceremony and who their potential targets might be?If this sounds to you like it might be a terrible idea, maybe you need to ask yourself this question: “If Elvis Grbac, 1994 Michigan Wolverines starting QB, thinks its a great idea...is it possible that maybe I’m the one missing the point?”*If you are an NFL athlete or know an NFL athlete, please explain to us why or how you think this will be successful and who to contact to make it work.*To date, Elvis Grbac is definitely unaware of this idea and may or may not think it’s a good idea. Please visit us at https://thetragedyacademy.com On social media, you can find us at @thetragedyacademypodcast on Instagram, The Tragedy Academy Podcast on Facebook, and @tragedy_academy on Twitter. A nostalgic look back at our favorite hockey hero's who wore the red, white and blue for the Rangers during the 1960's,70's and 80's. In episode 38 we update the impact of Covid -19 on the Rangers and the rest of the NHL during the upcoming 24 team playoff format. Tom, Rob and Special guest Logan Smith also recap and discuss the career of # 17 Brandon Dubinsky. * Will the NHL be able to salvage the remainder of the 2019-20020 season with an innovative play-in and playoff 24 team format and if so when will it start and in what cities will they be playing in ? * Brandon Dubinsky was one of the fan favorites at MSG while he played for the Rangers and also in Columbus where he is still currently a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets. *Selected in the second round and number 60th overall during the 2004 NHL Draft. *Earned Rookie of the Year Team honors for the 2007-2008 season. * One of sixteen rookies to play in the 2008 "Young Stars Competition" prior to the 56th annual NHL All-Star game and earning the Young Stars MVP with two goals and an assist. * Dubinsky was awarded the prestigious Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award following his Rangers Rookie season in 2008. * Persistent and tenacious grinder and digger for loose pucks he was an annoying presence for the opposing team and in particular Sidney Crosby. * Scored a career high 20 and 24 goals during the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 seasons for the Rangers. * Played for Coach John Tortorella with both the Rangers and Blue Jackets. Both have had a very contentious relationship with each other during their time together with both clubs. * Traded by the Rangers in a Mega deal to the Columbus Blue Jackets during the summer of 2012 for Superstar forward Rick Nash. * Dubinsky was considered a leader and productive player for the young Blue Jackets these past 7 seasons despite enduring numerous serious injuries due to his aggressive style of play.
Being an agent or running an agency is a competitive business. After all, there are only about 700 NHL jobs and a lot of agents vying for a piece of that pie. To make it as an agent most people think they have to be great at contract negotiations and endorsement deals. Sure these things are tools of the trade, but these skills don't do you much good if you don't have any players to represent. You need to identify and evaluate talent, recruit the talent, and then develop the talent. That's where a guy like our guest Joe Oliver comes in. Joe is a partner at KO Sports Inc, a boutique agency that represents the likes of Dylan Larkin, Jacub Trouba, Brandon Dubinsky, and Kyle Turris and Ryan Johansen. Joe and KO Sports is focused on recruiting a small number of high quality players, building strong relationships with the players and their families and supporting their journey and development throughout their careers.Joe, and his decades of experience in the game and is recognized as one of the top talent scouts in western Canada. Joe is also a "straight forward, handshake, eye contact, go for a beer" kind of guy which makes him likable and good at recruiting. And he is passionate about helping his players develop as people and becoming the best athletes they can be.This episode is all about the world of player representation and it is a conversation I had a blast with. Enjoy!
Columbus Dispatch sports columnist Michael Arace speaks with Blue Jackets beat reporter Brian Hedger on the potential resigning of defensemen Zach Werenski’s NHL contract, discuss which players are unrestricted free agents throughout the league, and how Blue Jacket players Nick Foligno, Brandon Dubinsky recently visited the Cleveland Browns training camp. Finally, we do an early assessment on the teams in the Metropolitan Division and breakdown how the Blue Jackets compare.
Ken Laird, Pete Blackburn and Matt Kalman recap the Bruins' game two loss to the Blue Jackets, sift through the story lines coming out of the game, and predict the week ahead.
Bob McElligott and Jody Shelley analyze the Jackets' moves at the Trade Deadline and the struggles in the 5-2 loss to the Penguins. The guys also discuss the change in Brandon Dubinsky's role with the team. Forward Eric Robinson joins the set to discuss his time with this CBJ team.
A nostalgic look back at our favorite hockey heroes and legends who wore the red, white and blue for the Rangers during the '60s, '70s, and '80s. In episode number 24 we look back on the career and recent retirement of number 61 former Blue Jacket, Ranger, and Bruin winger Rick Nash. * First-round draft pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets and the first overall selection pick of the 2002 NHL Draft. * Nominated for the Calder Trophy as NHL Rookie Of The Year * scored 41 goals in his 2nd NHL season * * 5 time All-Star with the Blue Jackets and Rangers * NHL Foundation Player Award in 2008-2009 for his work in the community *Internationally, Has represented Team Canada at the Winter Olympics( two Gold Medals) and World Championships( one Gold) *Played 15 seasons in the NHL, played in 1,060 games and scored 437 goals 368 assists for 805 points. * Was considered a Human Highlight reel during his time with the Blue Jackets. A power forward with great size, speed, reach, strength and determination * His highlight goal scored in the last 25 seconds to defeat the Arizona Coyotes in 2008 is considered one of the greatest goals ever scored. * Was able to "Dangle the puck" along with an incredible inside-outside power move that confused defenseman and goaltenders alike to create scoring chances. * Traded to the NY Rangers for Artem Anisimov, Brandon Dubinsky, Tim Erixon and a 2013 First round pick * Played 6 seasons with the Rangers, appeared in 375 games and scored 145 goals and 107 assists for 252 points. * scored 42 goals for the Rangers during the 2014-2015 season. * his career with the Rangers was marred by injury and he was never able to play a complete season with the club. * Unfortunately he was unable to replicate his level of play/performance seen with the Blue Jackets with the NY Rangers especially during the Stanley Cup playoffs. * In 73 playoff games with the Rangers Nash was only able to notch 14 goals and 24 assists for 38 points. * Will he make the HOF and have his number 61 retired by the Blue Jackets?

Elan and Brian are back on their respective mics for a 43rd episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast.Buffalo is flying high and the Blue Jackets are red hot, prompting Elan and Brian to quibble about the updated fantasy outlooks of their goal-scorers and goaltenders. The guys also look at a couple shifting blue lines, and add yet another name to consider for the ever-growing top tiers of fantasy defencemen. Coaching changes in Ottawa, goaltending in Chicago, and an under-the-radar Jet round out this week's fantasy headlines. In players of note, the guys discuss the long-awaited emergence of a top St. Louis forward, the potential return to relevance for a nearly-forgotten goal scorer, and the concern of impending decline for a future hall-of-famer. Yet another Panther makes the list as he looks to definitively break a "slump" that's lasted more than an entire season, while a centerman in the West has broken out of a slump that was much smaller in length but not in fantasy impact.Elan and Brian also strike through a few goalies quickly in the lightning round before tagging two sagging forwards with the snoozer label.Players discussed on this week's show include Jhonas Enroth, Tyler Ennis, Sergei Bobrovsky, Scott Hartnell, Brandon Dubinsky, Jack Johnson, James Wisniewski, Boone Jenner, Kris Letang, Zdeno Chara, Torey Krug, Dougie Hamilton, Mika Zibanejad, Mike Hoffman, Bobby Ryan, Chris Phillips, Mikael Granlund, Alex Killorn, Evander Kane, Mathieu Perreault, Mark Scheifele, Michael Hutchinson, Ondrej Pavelec, Scott Darling, Antti Raanta, T.J. Injuries may have decimated Ottawa, and the guys begin by seeing how it may impact the able bodied players who can still take the ice. They also tip their cap to a couple d-men who've swapped an IR spot in Pittsburgh, and consider whether Claude Julien can bring a staggering Habs roster back to life. Then, a hotly anticipated rookie who couldn't impress at this season's outset is back for another kick at the can in Columbus, while teammates around him alternately slump and awaken. Outjuries double as snoozers, as the merits of activating or jettisoning a returning centreman in Dallas and a blueliner in Anaheim are debated, with a healthy but quiet-til-now Panthers defenseman thrown in for good measure. Meanwhile, the debate over whether a certain Ducks forward can maintain a 55+ point pace appears all but settled, and new lines in Anaheim lead to a depth chart search for fantasy value outside of the usual suspects. In hot streaks, Brian thinks Elan's feeling confident about one Canuck too many. The segment also features a couple Coyotes forwards and defensemen are helpful for as long as they remain in the desert, an entire line reigniting a pretty great even-strength run in Detroit, an assist-happy Blue who Brian prefers as a goal-scorer, a 60+ point scorer starting to maybe look like one again, a doghouse escapee in Boston, Brent freaking Burns, and Elan pining over vintage Zetterberg. Goalies get some time in the spotlight, including thoughts on why the Blues goalies are suddenly keeping the red lamp from being lit, a Philadelphia goalie whose only hot in the category of 'games started', an apparently reliable Western Conference goalie who could be spelling his starter more often, an emerging title change in Florida, and a struggling Isles tender with rough waters ahead. Also, what the heck should you do with a couple struggling Jets as they enter their bye weeks? And which Jet forward should you pick up when they hit the ice again? Players discussed on this episode include Mark Stone, Kris Letang, Bo Horvat, Henrik Zetterberg, Alex Galchenyuk, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Jaden Schwartz, Martin Hanzal, Zach Werenski, Michal Neuvirth, Oscar Klefbom, Jordan Eberle, Thomas Greiss, Aaron Dell, Nikolaj Ehlers, Ryan Spooner, Petr Mrazek, Mike Hoffman, Bobby Ryan, Brad Marchand, Max Pacioretty, Ryan Dzingel, Zack Smith, Curtis Lazar, Erik Karlsson, Craig Anderson, Mike Condon, Justin Schultz, Chris Kunitz, Jake Guentzel, Carl Hagelin, Shea Weber, Jeff Petry, Brendan Gallagher, Carey Price, Brandon Saad, Brandon Dubinsky, Jason Spezza, Patrick Sharp, Sami Vatanen, Radek Faksa, Ryan Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler, Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, Brent Burns, Rikard Rakell, Aaron Ekblad, Nick Ritchie, Ondrej Kase, Alex Edler, Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin, Troy Stecher, Radim Vrbata, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Michael Stone, Alex Goligoski, Tomas Tatar, Anthony Mantha, Jake Allen, Carter Hutton, Steve Mason, Leon Draisaitl, Andrej Sekera, Mark Letestu, Mark Scheifele, Patrick Laine, Mathieu Perreault and more. * * * Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! Welcome to a special mid-week edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! Listen now, or save it for your usual Sunday night or Monday morning listening-- the choice is yours! Several outjuries are eyeing prime playing spots on their rosters, including yet another mid-six Ranger putting up top six numbers, a couple mid-six Jets with potential to step into a top six role, and a hard-luck Habs winger who would be happy to help spark his squad. The guys also chat about Andrei Markov and what his ceiling for the rest of the year could be. Hot streaks carry the rest of the main show, as we circle back to a minor league call-up in St Louis that we zoomed past last week, a trio of Isles who may be feeling some of the weight lifted off of their shoulders since a coaching change, a New Jersey forward who is very quietly on pace to post the best numbers of his career, a Colorado rookie finally hitting the scoresheets, a Sabres forward who's clicking and ticking most of his boxes on a new line, a Panthers defenseman who looks to lead the blueline down the homestretch, and a Columbus centreman taking a run at reclaiming his depth value. Players discussed on this episode include Kevin Hayes, Mika Zibanejad, Connor Hellebuyck, Drew Stafford, Mathieu Perreault, Ondrej Pavelec, Brendan Gallagher, Andrei Markov, Shea Weber, Kris Russell, Travis Konecny, Shane Gostisbehere, Kenny Agostino, Alex Steen, Jake Allen, Carter Hutton, Andrew Ladd, Brock Nelson, Ryan Strome, Adam Henrique, Mikko Rantanen, Calvin Pickard, Nicklas Backstrom, Philipp Grubauer, Evander Kane, Keith Yandle, Brandon Dubinsky, Cam Atkinson, Charlie Coyle, James Neal, Viktor Arvidsson, David Backes, David Krejci, Matt Beleskey, David Pastrnak, and more. * * * Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! Last week's episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast was all about catching up on two weeks' worth of action, and this week we're all about getting you ahead of the curve with all of the latest fantasy hockey news, info and analysis. This 89th edition of the show kicks off with a deep dive into what the Johansen-Jones trade means for both the players who swapped teams, and the rest of the guys who will be shuffled and shifted around the Columbus and Nashville rosters as a result. In our Outjuries, we look at a 60 point-plus LA King not named Kopitar or Toffoli, a phenom-in-the-making re-entering the Bruins lineup, a recovered goalie who actually stayed that way long enough to make a start this time around, and a fiery Coyote who's getting more help than usual from his teammates. We also look at the impact of injuries to top line fixtures in New Jersey, Calgary and St Louis, and suggest you quickly grab a goalie who could get some games in on a very good team depending on the severity of his teammate's injury. Our Players of Note this week include a couple goalies about whom you can comfortably stop tweeting us questions, a great spot starter in an Eastern Conference crease, and a couple top line producers out West. Finally, the show closes out with a whack of Snoozers, including a couple perennial favourites who have failed to deliver by the midway point, and an apparent false start from a former 30 goal scorer.Players discussed on this episode include Ryan Johansen, Seth Jones, Alexander Wennberg, Mattias Ekholm, Connor Hellebuyck, Louis Domingue, David Pastrnak, Martin Hanzal, Shane Doan, James Reimer, Jonathan Bernier, Jiri Hudler, Joe Colborne, Mike Cammalleri, James Neal, Mike Ribeiro, Ryan Ellis, Adam Henrique, Brian Elliott, Colton Parayko, Lee Stempniak, Kyle Palmieri, Tobias Rieder, Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau, Jeff Carter, Tanner Pearson, Robin Lehner, Nail Yakupov, Teddy Purcell, Jay Bouwmeester, Jake Allen, Paul Stastny, Linus Ullmark, Chad Johnson, Patrick Sharp, Alex Goligoski, Andrew Ladd, Jason Pominville, Jeff Skinner, Brandon Dubinsky, Tomas Hertl, Al Montoya, Chris Kunitz, Sidney Crosby, Patric Hornqvist, and more.* * *Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! If you enjoy the show, please support future episodes by becoming a patron of Keeping Karlsson. While Elan is off doing god knows what in Vegas, Brian takes the reins on this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast.Brian isn't going at it alone, though-- Hockey PDOcast's Dimitri Filipovic steps in to guest host as we fly through this week's most pertinent poolie particulars. We look at an unusually high volume in changes to top lines across the NHL, including those in Columbus, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Vancouver, Chicago, Long Island, Dallas and Florida, as well as the newest opportunities available to some hungry up-and-comers that might just be ready to start producing. We also compare the production of the players on two of the hottest lines in the league-- these guys are not only putting up points, but they're doing it while wearing NHL crests long associated with scoring scarcity and boring hockey (though that reputation may be proving harder to shake for one particular locale).Players discussed on this episode include Nick Bjugstad, Brent Seabrook, Adam Henrique, Pascal Dupuis, James Neal, Lee Stempniak, Trevor van Riemsdyk, Dmitri Jaskin, Jori Lehtera, Mattias Janmark, Mike Cammalleri, Erik Karlsson, Colton Parayko, Duncan Keith, Alex Barkov, Jaromir Jagr, Jaden Schwartz, Mike Green, Brendan Smith, Niklas Kronwall, Evander Kane, Matt Moulson, Johan Larsson, Teemu Pulkkinen, Paul Stastny, David Backes, Scotty Upshall, Jonathan Huberdeau, Michael Neuvirth, Steve Mason, Jaroslav Halak, Thomas Greiss, Chris Kunitz, David Perron, Ryan Johansen, Brandon Dubinsky, Radim Vrbata, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Ryan Strome, Kyle Okposo, Matthew Nieto, Joel Ward, Viktor Tikhonov, Antti Raanta, Mike Fisher, Mike Ribeiro, James Neal, Trevor Daley, Andrei Markov, Alex Semin, Jeff Skinner, Patrick Sharp, Max Domi, Tobias Rieder, Anthony Duclair, Sergei Bobrovsky, Craig Anderson and more.Be sure to check out Hockey PDOcast on the web, on iTunes, on soundcloud, and on Patreon! And we highly recommend you follow Dimitri on Twitter @DimFilipovic.* * *Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! If you enjoy the show, please support future episodes by becoming a patron of Keeping Karlsson.
