For the fourth month of 1995, romance is burning everything down around the boys! There's love in the air, and it's baked into every move Sergio (John Leguizamo) makes. He'll do anything to win over the beautiful Hattie (Sadie Frost), but would he commit arson? His boss (Armin Mueller-Stahl) can't make the payments on his crumbling confectionary, and the pair consider the bleak option…until the bakery ignites on its own! What ensues is some fiery misconception, involving another couple (William Baldwin & Erika Eleniak) and one confused cop (Mike Start)! Is this the beginning of some beautiful friendships or is it just….A Pyromaniac's Love Story!
In this episode of the show we are discussing one of the most successful movies Andrew Davis Directed and one that most definitely was the biggest success in Steven Seagal's acting career, the 1992 Under Siege. Over the course of our conversation you will hear us talk about the peculiar place Steven Seagal holds in the canon of 80s and 90s action heroes, how Under Siege slots into the post-Die Hard template and how it perhaps adds to it, and how Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey truly add colour to this entire spectacle. We also talk about the infamous Erika Eleniak cake scene, the many fables surrounding Seagal and his ego, Casey Ryback's cooking skills and much much more! Explosions, low-level martial arts, and 50 gallons of bouillabaisse. On this special episode of THE BIG 4-0, Ron and Peter look back at the first SEVEN films from one of our childhood action heroes, Steven Seagal. ABOVE THE LAW (1988), HARD TO KILL (1990), MARKED FOR DEATH (1990), OUT FOR JUSTICE (1991), UNDER SIEGE (1992), his directorial debut ON DEADLY GROUND (1994), and his only theatrical sequel and arguably the end of his run as a major box office draw, UNDER SIEGE 2: DARK TERRITORY (1995). That's a lot of films and a lot of ground to cover, so apologies if we didn't do each film or his entire career justice. There are a lot of interesting discussion points left on the table, many touched on, but not fully explored - such as a deeper dive into his past and wild background claims (CIA and/or mob ties?), excellent/interesting supporting cast members we mention but don't trace the arc of their careers as we normally would (Sharron Stone, Pam Grier, Kelly LeBrock, William Forsythe, Jerry Orbach, Tommy lee Jones, Gary Busy, Erika Eleniak, Michael Cain, John C. McGinley, Joan Chen, Billy Bob Thornton, Eric Bogosian, Evert McGill, Morris Chestnut, and Kathrine Heigel, among others), how he always uses a .45 pistol the way Riggs and McClane always use a Baretta, his badass Bronco in MARKED FOR DEATH, the fact that he looks great - damn near hunky - at 40, no less, in UNDER SIEGE, Bassil Poledouris' awesome ON DEADLY GROUND score, and Seagal's music career (two actually-not-bad blues albums!), post-theatrical-direct-to-DVD period, TV career (A&E's LAWMAN), his fashion, political beliefs, and his legal troubles, both as an accused sexual predator and a falling-out with his producing partner Julius Nasso, which led to a real-life Seagal/mob altercation - but as a focus on just these seven films, how they've aged, and where we each rank them in his filmography, it's an in-depth, fun, and revelatory episode. Please remember to Rate, Like, and Subscribe, and we'll be back in 1984 next time to burn down the house celebrating STOP MAKING SENSE and PARIS, TEXAS's BIG 4-0s!
This needs NO introduction. It is by FAR the best of Steven Seagal's films. Why? Because of Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey - it was most definitely not because of the guy that once pooped himself in a fight.DISCLAIMER: Language and Spoilers!!UNDER SIEGEdir. Paul becomes Javi's psychotherapist as we journey back to June 11, 1982, in this white-knuckle discussion of colonialism, media saturation, and the deservedly hallowed place that cinematic titan Steven Spielberg occupies in our popular culture — all of it musingly masquerading as a discourse on what would become (for the next decade) the biggest blockbuster of all time, E.T.: THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL. Don't miss our heaviest, most introspective episode, which ranges from a profoundly personal elegy for a suburban American childhood that will never again exist, to a rhapsodic ode to the exquisite magic of cinema. We'll be right here.

Join our intrepid hosts as they scrutinise the introspective and thought provoking drama Under Siege, starring world class, classically trained thespian Steven Seagull. With an extra week in August, Tread Perilously re-opens the Grab Bag for an extra verse in The Ballad of John D. Cort -- the Baywatch episode called "Shark Derby." The annual shark season is a little bit more robust than usual with sightings more common and local restaurateur Bucky sponsoring a shark derby. Contestants, which include John D. Cort, Eddie, Captain Thorpe, and Hobie, must bring in the largest shark possible. But Mitch, always wary of Bucky, doubts the increasing shark population is a coincidence. Did the entrepreneur figure out a way to invite more sharks to the coastal waters? And will it prove fatal for a member of Mitch's team? Justin busts out the shark facts right quick. Erik recalls the soon-to-be-closed fish restaurant Gladstones. Both marvel at the simplicity of Bucky's scheme. The 1980s hangover gets dissected. Captain Thorpe's descent into madness makes its way to Hobie. Peter Benchley's Jaws comes up often. David Hasselhoff's actual height becomes unavoidable. For the first time ever, original Baywatch character Jill matters. Hasselhoff's need to barge into scenes gets called out. Erika Eleniak's scream is reviewed. Craig's murder eyes make a special appearance and the Hoff gets compared to Tommy Wiseau in a very specific way. Also, the praise for John Allen Nelson continues.

Stupid summer movies, Anheuser-Busch CEO interview, Stuttering John v. Karl, Drew Crime, another cruise ship passenger goes overboard, and a call to the innovative doctor making thicker dongs. Lyla tries to eat Trudi's prescription medication. Insane police body cam footage has dropped of the Texas Mall shooting. Donald Trump thinks Ivanka Trump is hot and wonders how she is in bed. Gene Simmons almost killed everyone in a concert fire. Thankfully every single concertgoer was filming with their phones. The CEO of Anheuser-Busch, Brendan Whitworth, went on CBS This Morning and said a bunch of nothing. John Boyega is finally allowed to talk to Jamie Foxx. Reveals nothing. Wheel of Fortune: Ryan Seacrest is getting hate for landing the hosting gig, but TMZ's Harvey Levin has his back. Vanna White goes on the offensive because she hasn't had a "raise" in 16 years. $3M/year for 73 years hasn't been enough. We deep dive on a riveting 1988 interview with Vanna (the last interview she did). Danny Bonaduce is doing fine. Madonna has been hospitalized for a bacterial infection of her butt or something. Pete Davidson is in rehab for a "tune up". Stuttering John made a return to podcasting on Misery Loves Company and Karl Hamburger destroyed him. Fall Out Boy re-did 'We Didn't Start the Fire' and it sucks. Tori Spelling is getting divorced. Her podcast is awful as well. Christine Baumgartner is squatting in Kevin Costner's house. Lushful Aesthetics is here to fatten up your dong. We inquire about our own personal wangs. Pump yours up today! We HAVE to tell Jonah Falcon about it. YouTube star Shallon Lester lays into Not-a-Prince Harry and that beast, Meghan Markle. She is suing the royal couple. Sir Trevor Phillips takes aim at that beast, Meghan, as well. Drew Crime: More victims are coming out against the North End Rapist. His hot girlfriend is standing by him. Bryan Kohberger's sister hates him too, but mostly because he stole her phone. He's facing the firing squad. NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson is in the middle of a true crime massacre. John Legend and Chrissy Teigen paid some random chick to have another brat. A Delta plane landed without it's nose gear. The 'Summer of Falling Off a Cruise Ship' continues as a woman is saved after going overboard. Tresa Baldas has the latest on Ethan Crumbley's parents excuse-making. Movies: Trudi wants to see the Barbie movie. BranDon would rather watch Oppenheimer. Drew has never heard of either movie. Christian Bale wanted nothing to do with The Flash. Karen Allen is 71 and "unrecognizable" in the new Indiana Jones movie. Erika Eleniak is unrecognizable too. Animal House couldn't be made today. Everyone hates the movie theater except BranDon. What sent Enrique Padilla in such a rage that he'd kill someone over a movie theater seat? There is a massive California exodus. Texas was the hottest place on Earth. Music: Conan O'Brien landed Paul McCartney on his podcast. Bill Wyman reunited with The Rolling Stones after 30 years. Drew introduces us to The Green Pajamas. It's DIE HARD on a battleship! Phil and Liam take a deep dive into choppy waters as they analyze UNDER SIEGE (1992), one of the earliest (and best) action films to directly replicate the classic DIE HARD formula. In this instance, Steven Seagal stars as Casey Ryback, a former Navy SEAL turned ship's cook, who springs into action when the USS Missouri is seized by traitorous terrorists looking to hijack its nuclear arsenal…and mayhem swiftly ensues! First off, the boys place this movie in its wider cultural context, noting how this big budget picture marked a departure from the grimy urban thrillers that had been Seagal's stock and trade up to this point. Much of the credit for the film's success must go to director Andrew Davis, who had collaborated with Tommy Lee Jones on his previous film THE PACKAGE (1989) and would do so again on THE FUGITIVE (1993), the movie that helped propel Jones from a respected supporting actor into a global movie star. Given the film's premise, there's ‘Die Hard DNA' all over the place, although the boys also discuss the fact that Ryback's elite military background distinguishes him from ‘the everyman' John McClane, in yet another notable variation of the ever-evolving action hero archetype. There's also plenty of enthusiasm here for the extraordinary performances of Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey as charismatic villains Strannix and Krill, and another chance to play Phil's favorite game: ‘Who's Your Favorite Terrorist?' Praise is also reserved for the subversive, satirical performance of Erika Eleniak as Playboy playmate Jordan Tate, who elevates a sexist, thankless role with her sly comedic choices. As always, the ‘Die Hard Oscars' provide plenty of entertainment value, along with (Liam's least favorite game) the ‘Double Jeopardy' trivia quiz, which features a real DIE HARD doozy this week! UNDER SIEGE TRAILER https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcpyOMIUdYQ At the time of release, UNDER SIEGE is streaming on Netflix in the UK and is available to rent or buy in the US through Amazon Prime Video, Apple/iTunes, YouTube, RedBox, Vudu, DirectTV and all the usual platforms. Andrew "Couch Man" Tiede returns to "NinetyForChill: The #Podcast" to take on what is arguably the most legendary Steven Seagal feature, "Under Siege". CatBusRuss appreciates having the TikTok all star on the show to discuss this "Try Hard" due to his military experience. Prepared to tackle the logistics of this film, the two will address the legendary villainy of Tommy Lee Jones, the awakenings released by Erika Eleniak, and the carny nature that star Seagal lives by. If this violent classic does not intrigue you to listen, perhaps a review of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" will amuse you.
Los Angeles-based literary manager and producer Jarrod Murray joins the crew of the USS Hit Factory to discuss 'Under Siege', the 1992 action thriller starring Steven Seagal. We discuss the exemplary direction of journeyman Andrew Davis who would go on a year later to make his opus, 'The Fugitive', praise the transcendent performance of Tommy Lee Jones as the madcap leader of a group of nuclear terrorists, and return to one of our favorite preoccupations: the meteoric rise (and astonishing fall) of Steven Seagal, movie star. Finally, we mourn the loss of a bygone staple of Hollywood: Cool Boat Cinema™, and contemplate who might be able to take up the mantle and revive the genre in 2023. Follow Jarrod Murray on Twitter. Another Tread Perilously Grab Bag month begins with an episode of Baywatch called "Muddy Waters." The Ballad of John D. Cort continues as Cort must make back a favor to Mitch by teaching the new class of lifeguards at Raging Waters in San Dimas, CA. But Cort, being Cort, pulls Eddie into the job, who in turn attracts the eye of a trainee and the ire of another. Mitch, meanwhile, plans for Hobie's class to visit Baywatch and Captain Thorpe seeks to fire Shauni after a photo of her at a guard tower ends up in a swimsuit calendar. Geography Corner starts early as Erik and Justin discuss Raging Waters in San Dimas, CA. They also take a break to discuss Ms. Marvel. Justin is still surprised Baywatch had a writers room. The pair also end up discussing the Scott Bakula classic, Color of Night, and the films of Clive Barker. The career of Monte Markham gets examined. Eddie once again ends up looking like the worst. Erik argues for Erika Eleniak 's talent as a TV actor. Captain Thorpe's descent into madness continues. Justin finally faces a full Mitch Buchannon storyline and theorizes how the presence of Cort would change Predator.

Hell yeah! Gary Busey and Tommy Lee Jones attempt to take over a A US battleship. What they didn't expect was Steven Seagal and Erika Eleniak to stop them.
Remember her from Baywatch? She has a cool podcast about the Law of Attraction and Life-after-Death-type stuff. It's so so interesting. Before that Erik tells us about his scary dream. And we are kind of a big deal because TLC wrote us an email! Love your podcast!
Tread Perilously's Grab Bag month concludes with a return to Baywatch for "We Need A Vacation." When Craig complains about splitting his time between being a lifeguard, a lawyer, and a husband, John D. Cort suggests going to Mexico for a quick vacation. As it happens, he's already planning to take Eddie there to teach him some surfing. Instead of surf and relaxation, they end up in the mythical Mexico that only exists in film and television. Meanwhile, Hobie gets the hots for Shauni, but Mitch Buchanan is too busy dealing with Captain Thorpe's marital troubles to notice. Will Mitch ever take an interest in his son? Justin and Erik are thrilled to return to the Ballad of John D. Cort, even if he's more douchebag than good guy this time around. Hobie proves to be more emotionally mature than Eddie, but his storyline still ends up in the hot seat. Erika Eleniak's qualities as a TV presence are examined. Justin suggests the notion of a biblically-accurate Saruman. Day and night once again fail to have meaning. Erik suggests the episode may be a backdoor pilot for a new series for John Allen Nelson, Parker Stevenson, and Billy Warlock. Also, the love affair with John Allen Nelson continues.

Phil and Jake rank the 80s blockbuster E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Reese's Ultimate Peanut Butter Lovers Cup on the List of Every Damn Thing. If you have something to add to the list, email it to list@everydamnthing.net (or get at us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook).SHOW NOTES: Here's the Eddie Murphy bit that Phil talks about at the beginning of the episode. Steven Spielberg projects mentioned include Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Night Skies, 1941, Raiders of the Lost Ark and his remake of War of the Worlds. Other movies talked about include Never Been Kissed (which Phil's mother really enjoyed on an airplane), The Goonies, Star Wars, Howard the Duck, Back to the Future, The Last Starfighter, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, Trading Places, The Truman Show, Flashdance and Enter the Dragon. Melissa Mathison is not related to Richard Matheson, whose work Spielberg had adapted. Their last names are homonyms, that's why Phil was confused. Melissa Mathison also wrote Kundun, The BFG and Indian in the Cupboard. Phil wasn't trying to steal autism valor but his point got mangled. There's a kind of boy that started showing up in movies around this time. The other example Phil could think of was the kid from D.A.R.Y.L. and the kid from Cloak and Dagger (played by the same kid who played Elliot in E.T.). In the past child actors were usually more anglo-looking. Maybe it boils down to Spielberg having enough pull to cast someone who looks like his own kids. For the record, we don't want to disparage New Age bullshit. C. Thomas Howell has a small role in E.T. We like when someone's name is also a sentence. It's not such a big deal though since it's a stage name. E.T. was produced by "Amblin Productions" and of course they didn't have the logo of the bike in front of the moon at the time, since it comes from E.T. Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman is the book Phil talks about. Erika Eleniak played Eliott's classmate and, as an adult, jumps out of a cake in Under Siege (but Phil forgets her name in the episode). Oops! All Berries is a foundational concept that we never tire of discussing. Here's the Chris Gaines VH1 Behind the Music that we failed to consider in last week's episode. :) Medverkande:

This is probably the only time we'll be saying this on this podcast... we're doing a Steven Seagal film! @MoMandel from the Full Release and Jews Control the Media podcasts wants to air his grievances regarding Under Siege. Mo hates "Die Hard on a Boat" but the real question is his argument more convincing than Gary Busey in women's clothes? Or is his dissertation as beautiful as Erika Eleniak popping out of a cake? And of course, a "who's better argument" arises...Jean Claude Van Dam or Steven Seagal? Huge thanks to Podcorn for sponsoring this episode. She's been a part of one of the biggest TV shows of its era, has had starring roles in several major Hollywood films and has enjoyed a successful modeling career ... But now, she's found a happy place that simply involves exploring personal pursuits and being a mom.But make no mistake about, whatever Erika Eleniak chooses to do, she's going to do it to the best of her ability to have the best time doing it possible.Best known to millions from her days as Shauni McClain on the show Baywatch, Eleniak has enjoyed a long career in front of the camera dating back to her days as the "Pretty Girl" (that's how she's credited on IMDb.com!) in E.T. The Extra Terrestrial. In addition to Baywatch, she has been featured on the big screen adaptation of The Beverly Hillbillies, Under Siege – and yes, she talks about "that" scene on this episode – and Bordello of Blood . Her career isn't limited to major Hollywood productions, however, as her turns in independent films such as The Opponent have proven. Now focused on parenting her daughter Indyanna, she spends much of her time (at least pre-quarantine) teaching acting and working with teens in recovery as well as exploring spirituality, religion and more. This episode of A Tight 45 finds Erika and Tabari discussing all this and more with a conversation that may serve to inspire as much as it does entertain. This week, Schlocktober begins! A full month of the spookiest turds... And what better way to start that then with the Dennis Miller-led horror-comedy Bordello of Blood. Joining your hosts is returning guest Jason MacLeod as they try to make sense of a project that went through a lot of turmoil. The guys learn about Dennis Miller's pricetag and all the behind-the-scenes issues and they talk about: how this movie opens like a period piece, potentially lethal laser beams at a church congregation, Corey Feldman playing a tough biker and much more. Plus: a LOT of Dennis Miller impressions. Like... a LOT. The guys also drop a hint for next week's movie ("...makes one year feel like five...").

While Tracy was away on travel in South Africa, Minki found a few horror movies either made by a South African, filmed in South Africa or about South Africa to watch upon her return. This movie, co-written and directed by South African Darrell Roodt, might be the worst movie ever to be associated with the country. And despite the fact that it includes Udo Kier, Coolio, Deebo from Friday, Bay Watch babe Erika Eleniak and Casper Van Dien on its roster, it might be the worst movie ever made! But, as we’ve learned, some of the worst movies make for the best conversations between the hosts. So, tune in and hear these two discuss the overt racism, sexism and cheesy-ass lines written into this mind-numbing script. Bram Stoker would smack someone silly over this rip-off which takes place in the future, in space...which provides the opportunity for Tracy to talk about her fear of space which Minki diagnoses as spacephobia. They also discuss her fear of fish and water, her recent trip to the highest bungee jump bridge in the world and Minki apparently has no fears. He only fears that someone else may watch this awful movie. The listener mail is top notch and Tracy pleads for more mail! So, write in.
Behind-The-Glass "Jingle" Gerry gives a list of "Lesser Known" Christmas Movies that he thinks deserve some attention. So, if you are looking for a festive film, but are tired of the usual suspects like It's A Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol, Miracle on 34th Street, or even Christmas Vacation, here are a few to take a look at: 1. Christmas in Connecticut (1945) - Barbara Stanwyk starrs as a magazine Columnist who is the "Martha Stewart" of her time. Giving hints and tips to homemakers on how to do things properly. All is well until her editor invites himself and a war veteran to her house for Christmas... the problem? She has no idea how to do any of the things she writes about. 2. The Shop Around The Corner (1940) - Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullivan star as co-working shop clerks who can not stand one another. What they don't know is that they are each other's secret pen pal... who are about to meet face to face for the first time. Does the plot sound familiar? The Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan movie Youv'e Got Mail was based on this classic 3. A Christmas Wish (AKA The Great Rupert) (1950) - Jimmy Durante stars in this film about a down-and-out family who moves into a basement apartment not knowing that a trained squirrel has taken up residence in the walls, and has found some cash hidden there by "bad guys" and starts doling it out to the family. Early stop-motion animation with a stuffed squirrel make this a rare gem. 4. Fred Claus (2007) Vince Vaughn stars as Fred Claus, the underachieving, bitter brother of Nick "Santa" (who is played by Paul Giamatti). Fred has to move back to The North Pole and ends up helping save Christmas... wait... was that a spolier? Honourable Mentions If your tastes lean more towards the horror-side of things, you might want to give "Santa's Slay"(2005) a spin. This Horror/Comedy stars Bill Goldberg as Santa, an evil demon who lost a bet hundreds of years ago and had to deliver joy and presents on Christmas... well the bet is now over... and Santa is ready to return to his evil ways. A great supporting cast includes Robert Culp, Dave Thomas, Emilie De Raven, Saul Rubinek, Fran Drescher & Kris Kattan. If you are more of an action lover, check out some Local Fare with the TBS made for TV movie "Christmas Rush" AKA "Breakaway"(2002). This Die Hard rip-off was filmed right here in Winnipeg and stars Dean Cain and Erika Eleniak along with Eric Roberts and Aleks Paunovic.

“Science is never wrong.” On this episode we take at the low budget disaster movie Absolute Zero (2005), where the only people who can save the world from a new ice age are Jeff Fahey and Erika Eleniak. (Probably best not to make too many plans for next week). On this show Exploding Helicopter is joined by Jason and Nolahn from Your Face and the Liar of the Unwanted. Among the topics of discussions, the demise of Jeff Fahey’s career, some highly questionable “science”, and how exactly you pronounce Erika Eleniak. Episode 20.

Christmas Rush (2002) aka (inexplicably) Breakaway continues our Christmas tradition. It’s a TV movie of Die Hard in a mall starring Dean Cain, Erika Eleniak and Eric Roberts. It’s also much better than it should be. Second half we talk about this little movie you may have heard us and others talking about, The Hobbit: […]
Awesomeness and a touch of hotness will ensue, when the lovely and divine Erika Eleniak stops by to chat. You will probably remember her for her iconic role in Baywatch as Shauni McClain. She also starred in the films Under Siege , The Beverly Hillbillies and a host of other movies, as well as countless television appearances. You will find the role she cherishes most is being a mom.
