God has given His people the means of grace—Scripture, prayer, fellowship, worship, the Lord's Day, the preaching of the Word, and the ordinances—not as optional add-ons, but as His appointed pathways to spiritual stability.2) Spiritual drift happens when we stop paying close attention to God's Word.Hebrews 2:1 warns us clearly: “We must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.” Like a boat without an anchor, the heart that stops listening carefully to Scripture will quietly move away from the shore. We must receive the Word regularly, reverently, and obediently—not merely hearing it, but submitting to it.3) Spiritual drift happens when we let the world shape us more than the Word.Romans 12:2 calls believers not to be conformed to this world. Drift often begins when media shapes us more than Scripture, when approval of man matters more than pleasing Christ, and when sin is treated casually. You will be shaped by what you regularly absorb.4) Spiritual drift is prevented by abiding in Christ.In John 15, Jesus does not say, “Try harder.” He says, “Abide in Me.” Spiritual stability grows as we remain connected to the Vine—trusting Christ daily, treasuring Him above all, relying on His strength, and staying near to His Word.5) Guarding your heart requires daily watchfulness.Proverbs 4:23 commands: “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” Watchfulness includes examining your heart regularly, confessing sin quickly, keeping short accounts with God, staying faithful in the local church, and maintaining a humble, teachable spirit.6) God's grace restores drifting hearts.If you realize you have drifted—grown cold, neglected prayer, worship, or the Word—here is the good news: God restores drifting hearts. You are not beyond His mercy. Not wars. Not famines. Not earthquakes. But deception. The greatest danger of the last days is not persecution alone, but confusion. Not opposition alone, but compromise. Not suffering alone, but falling away. 1. Jesus Warned Us Deception Would Be the Primary Sign Matthew 24:4–5 (NKJV) “And Jesus answered and said to them: ‘Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, “I am the Christ,” and will deceive many.'” 2. Deception Increases Because Truth Is Rejected 2 Thessalonians 2:9–10 (NKJV) “The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.” 3. Itching Ears Replace Endurance 2 Timothy 4:3–4 (NKJV) “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” 4. Weak Foundations Produce Weak Christians Matthew 7:26–27 (NKJV) “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And from such people turn away.” 6. Many Will Fall Away Under Pressure Matthew 24:10–12 (NKJV) “And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” 8. The Lack of Fortitude Is a Lack of Root Luke 8:13 (NKJV) “But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away.” 9. God Is Shaking What Can Be Shaken Hebrews 12:26–27 (NKJV) “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven. Now this, ‘Yet once more,' indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.” 10. Truth Must Be Loved More Than Comfort John 8:31–32 (NKJV) “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.'” 11. Fortitude Is Built Through Perseverance James 1:2–4 (NKJV) “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” 12. The Call Is to Watchfulness and Sobriety 1 Peter 5:8–9 (NKJV) “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.” 13. Many Refuse the Narrow Way Matthew 7:13–14 (NKJV) “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” 14. God Is Raising a Remnant Who Will Stand Revelation 3:10–11 (NKJV) “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.” Church, deception is increasing because compromise has been tolerated. Itching ears have replaced endurance. Entertainment has replaced discipleship. But God is calling His people back to truth, holiness, and fortitude. This is not the hour to blend in. This is the hour to stand out. Not in arrogance, but in conviction. Not in fear, but in faith. Not in deception, but in truth. Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV) “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

Rosh HaShanah begins at sundown on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025 and ends on Wednesday Sept. 24 2025. This begin the Jewish year 5786According to traditional Jewish thinking, this holiday honors the creation of mankind by Elohim. The Mishnah (earlier part of the Talmud) refers to Rosh Hashanah as the “Day of Judgment” (Yom ha-Din) since all of creation owes allegiance to the Creator and is accountable to Him. The name Elohim revealed in Genesis 1:1 speaks of Elohim as the Creator and Judge of the universe. In Jewish tradition on Rosh Hashanah we stand before Yahweh as our personal Creator and Judge. Many Messianic Jews believe that the sound of the Shofar on Rosh Hashanah is a symbol of the 2nd coming of the followers of Yahshua MessiahIn Hebrew, Rosh Hashanah means, literally, "Head of the Year," and as its name indicates, it is the beginning of the Jewish year. The days beginning with Rosh HaShana and ending with Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement) are known as “The Days of Awe.” This is a very special time of year on the Jewish calendar, a time of introspection and commitment to self-improvement for the coming year. Most of all, this is the season for repentance, prayer, and charity, as illustrated by the quotation above - since we are taught that these three things have the power to influence the outcome of our judgment in a favorable way. We are taught that on Rosh Hashana, Yahweh sits in judgment on all His creations and decides their fate. Everything is decided on this day, for every aspect of the entire creation, each individual and each nation.The Prophets of Israel repeatedly spoke of a future day when Yahweh would directly intervene in the affairs of men. They called that day “The Day of the Lord” [Isa. 13:6-13; Ezek. 13:3-8; Joel 1:15, 2:1; Amos 5:18-20; Zeph. 1:7-2:3; Zech 14:1-21; Mal. 4:5-6]. Two major themes are associated with the Day of the Lord.The first is the deliverance of the righteous.The second is the judgment of the wicked, in connection with His coming.The Son of Yahweh will call His own to Himself and then go to war against His enemies. It is the blowing of a Trumpet, which will signal those 2 events. In Paul's writing of 1 Thess. 4:16, the Lord will descend with the sound of the trumpet to call His own to His presence and in Chapter 5 Paul continues the thought, on the day of the Lord as it commences, during which time His wrath will be poured out against the wicked.In most basic terms, the Feast of Trumpets, the first of the Fall Feasts, which Yahweh gave to Israel, depicts the coming of Yahshua Messiah to take His virgin bride with Him into that eternal life, in that new Heaven and Earth! Perhaps one further thought is appropriate at this point. The Feast Trumpets occurs on the 1st day of the Hebrew 7th month Tisri. It would occur at the new moon. However clouds could obscure the moon and witnesses were required. Watchfulness was critical ingredient of this Feast. The Rabbis later added a second day to this Feast to make sure they did not miss it. This need for watchfulness and preparedness in connection with the Feast of Trumpets is echoed throughout the N.T. in connection with the Lord's coming. Watch, therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. [Matt. 24:42]Therefore, let us not sleep, as do others, but let us watch and be sober minded [1 Thess. 5:6]We know in the Parable of the Tares [Matt. 13] the harvest takes place in the fall. The reapers [angels] are sent forth to separate the wheat from the tares [zowan]. We read in Rev. 9:10 [read verses 3-10] about the locust army. Title: "Are You Ready?" Matthew 24:42-44 This passage begins a series of parables that speak to the second coming of Jesus and His coming Kingdom. In all of these parables there is a very real distinction between believers and non believers and the warning is to watch and be ready. Watchfulness and readiness can only be through salvation. So, in all these parables believers are to be watchful and continue laboring as they wait for Christ return and not just looking up at the sky and doing nothing.

As we observe ‘Spy Wednesday,’ let's take a humble posture of watchfulness and remember that our sinful nature can lead us into dark places.
