While Mila's physical presence was missed, her life story unfolds in our discussion, painting a portrait of a woman whose path from an unwed mother to a cannabis culture icon is nothing short of inspiring. On this episode, Tom shares his thoughts on the ICBC (International Cannabis Business Conference) and HamCan, two b2b cannabis events taking place in Berlin and Hamburg, respectively. Smells Like Business had the pleasure of being a media partner for both. Fortunately, Tom recovered in time for the ICBC in Berlin, the largest b2b cannabis event in Europe and one of the largest in the world. He explains what it's like to attend such events, what you can expect to get out of them, and (ultimately) if it is worth spending the money to participate. The short answer is, yes, it most certainly is. But, come prepared and try to set up as many meetings beforehand as possible. If you want to hear the long answer, then listen to the episode. Frenchy Cannoli was a California-based teacher, consultant, artisan, and activist dedicated to the production and appreciation of traditional cannabis concentrates. He grew up in Nice, France, but left home as soon as he could, inspired by the promise of exotic adventure and by the imported hashish common in the late-60s Europe. He lived nomadically for over twenty years, staying with traditional producers and learning techniques handed down over generations. During his lifetime, Frenchy taught his “Lost Art of the Hashish” seminars to thousands of aspiring concentrate-makers. An advocate of open-source knowledge-sharing, Frenchy used social media to demonstrate techniques, push for public education, and support regional growing certifications for cannabis production. We lost Frenchy Cannoli on July 28th, 2021 at the age of 65. Since his death, his wife has been working to edit and publish both a docuseries and a manuscript that Frenchy left behind, which will soon be available to the public. On this episode of Good Dudes Grow, hear a one-of-a-kind interview with a leading voice in the cannabis industry before he passed away. He shares many things with Gary; his nomadic story, his knowledge of cannabis and hashish, and his interest in the properties of cannabis and their applications to name a few. Tune in today to remember the great Frenchy Cannoli and come away with a new, deeper understanding of the cannabis plant. What You'll Learn: How hashish is different than cannabis Why it matters where and how the cannabis plant is grown What led Frenchy Cannoli to live an adventurous, nomadic lifestyle And so much more! Favorite Quote: “Both cannabis and hashish both have immense value. Seattle Bubbleworks got its start in 2016, when our founder saw a niche in the market. Joby had been working with a local cannabis processor and helping them market and distribute their flower and vape cartridges to market. He realized that his passion of producing quality products that addressed the standards of the medicinal marijuana community were at odds with the previous management. Although that processor was finding success, they were less concerned about the quality and more about the quantity produced. Joby found that unfair to the consumer, and began looking into a solvent-free method of creating cannabis concentrates. By revisiting the ancient art of hash-making through ice water separation, Joby chose to venture out on his own and gathered together a skilled crew of industry colleagues, each as passionate and skilled as the last, to set up his own “bubbleworks”. Baked and Awake Episode 099 February 27 2020 -SMOKING TEMPLE BALL HASHISH Purchased at Evergreen Market Renton. Asked for Bubble Hash, received Temple Ball (oops) +$10 Differential for the temple ball! Either one would be almost my first time ever being exposed to these types of hash, but is the Temple Ball worth the extra money? What even IS a “Temple Ball?” We’ll find out. I have been inspired by the content of one Frenchy Cannoli for a while now and if you haven’t already heard of him he’s a man known for traveling and teaching the history and methods of making traditional cannabis hashish. Frenchy’s instagram is full of well candid yet powerful videos freely sharing his techniques for creating beautiful hash literally anywhere and with no special tools whatsoever, unless you count a bottle filled with hot water and some potholders “special tools”. Frenchy rolls a Temple Ball, 3 min video, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fi0i_rXVId0 -INDICA AND SATIVA, TIME TO EVOLVE These labels are entirely meaningless. Segment inspired by a recent vlog by Todd P McCormick (insta: https://www.instagram.com/toddpmccormick/) Todd is a veteran Cannabis advocate and educator from what I gather, with a lot more time in Cannabis media including print, than myself. I believe I’ve seen him more than once on Bubbleman’s Hash Church back when I wouldn’t miss an edition of that amazing long running Youtube/Pod/Vlog/Panel Discussion show. Check out Todd’s IG where he’s active, and posts some great stuff that you’re sure to find edifying. Todd’s salient points in this recent talk about Indica and Sativa and how badly they’re being relied upon to describe the entire world of cannabis centered on Carl Linnaeus, American Vets encountering what they would come to call “Indica” in India and Afghanistan, etc, and the major changes that brought to existing cultivars already in play in North America at the time as they brought these strains home to breed with the existing longer flowering tropical landrace strains that though popular, struggled to thrive outdoors here. We use Indica and Sativa as labels that are supposed to map to an expected type of high. The problem of course is that there are a number of important factors that actually contribute to what the flower you’re smoking, and the concentrates made from it, are going to deliver in terms of experience. These range from inputs like what nutrition especially sugars was the plant fed during its life, how early or late the plant was harvested, and importantly, how effectively and gently was the plant dried and “cured” before being consumed. Finally, time on the shelf after the cure is complete will continue to affect the taste and effects of the flower, with the intensity of the high deteriorating over time but not before becoming increasingly tranquilizing in it’s presentation, even as overall potency slowly declines. This is due to THC in the dried plant eventually sort of breaking down and becoming a compound known as CBG -DABPOCALYPSE UPDATE HB2546 still in committee (https://www.washingtonvotes.org/2020-HB-2546) -GARDEN UPDATE 2020 microgreens and veggie starts Check out my new official Web Store today where your secure purchases directly support the show, while shopping through online retailers you already trust: https://bakedandawake.com/the-shop DON’T CLICK THIS LINK: https://bit.ly/36towQy My Website: www.bakedandawake.com Email me: talktous@bakedandawake.com Official Merch: https://www.teepublic.com/user/bakedandawake My Peertube Channel: https://peertube.co.uk/accounts/baked_and_awake/video-channels Twitter: https://twitter.com/stevecominski Insta: https://www.instagram.com/baked_and_awake/ Episode ambient Music generously provided by Antti Luode (http://www.soundclick.com/AnttiLuode),http://www.soundclick.com/_mobileFrame.cfm?bandID=1277008 Additional Music Provided with permission by Northwest Grab aka https://summoningsickness.bandcamp.com Baked and Awake Discord: https://discord.gg/BKJ52JQ

The Dank Duchess is a hash maker and writer focused on showcasing the best of California's Emerald Triangle through her pressed hash creations. As a protegé of master hasheeshian Frenchy Cannoli, the Dank Duchess is committed to sharing her love of ice-water hash, and entered some of her work in this year's Emerald Cup competition. Cannabis Now Senior Editor Ellen Holland caught up with Duchess to share some of her highlights of this year's event.
In Europe, cannabis is much more commonly consumed in hash form, not the flower form which is the most familiar here in the U.S. But that's all changing, thanks to a little help from our guest today. Frenchy Cannoli is a cannabis resin expert, educator and writer who is bringing artisan-quality hash to the forefront of the American cannabis scene. Frenchy has been making hash for over 40 years, perfecting a rare style of hash-making he learned as a young man in the Parvati Valley, living in caves amongst the Hashishin of India. Now he is the official Hashishin for Aficionado Seeds, a Mendocino County- based seed company promoting boutique cannabis. He's also been active with the Emerald Growers Association, working to create a “hash-makers' guild” — and to do what he can to preserve the outdoor cannabis growing tradition in Northern California.
Were excited to talk to a dedicated expert in the cannabis space with over 15 years of extensive firsthand knowledge and experience working at various dispensaries in Southern California. Our guest has successfully designed a calm, tranquil retail experience for its customers and we're here to learn about this state of the art concept. Joining us is Mara Stusser, the General Manager of Calma in West Hollywood, California. When people visit CALMA, the dispensary features floor-to-ceiling windows and stylish fixtures, sleek marble display tables and wall paneling, a powder pink check-in station, and a seafoam green fridge case area. The dispensary also features a large LED video wall that displays calming images, including ocean waves, waterfalls, and forests. Now, Calma offers an exclusive selection includes flower curated by Master Hashishin (Hash-eesh-inn) Frenchy Cannoli), Zendo Blending Teas, cookies by Dr. Norm's, and vaginal health oils by Quim. Plus, you stock CBD-infused body lotions from Israel-based Tikun Olam, which you noted to Uncover LA Magazine is the only cannabis brand with scientific backing. We talk about creating this exclusive environment all under one roof and so much more with Mara Stusser of CALMA.
