If nothing else, after listening to this episode of the podcast that wields films like deadly weapons, you'll wonder what Mike is still wondering: "What the fiznuck is a Gonk?!?" Indeed, what is a Gonk and why, in this 1965 concert film disguised as a sci-fi movie, do they go Beat? Jay had no idea when he assigned Gonks Go Beat for Mike to endure this week, but do either of the guys know now? Perhaps or perhaps not, but what they do know is their list of Bottom Five British Characters, a collection of across-the-pond d-bags that explain the Revolutionary War more than any history book! After their countdown, the guys play an English-themed round of dueling double bills before Mike slaps Jay with his next filmic facepalm for the next episode. REMINDER: We're in the midst of a Sophie's Choice poll—meaning YOU, the listeners, get to decide an upcoming cinematic punishment for Jay! Will it be Street Fighter or The Garbage Pail Kids Movie? Visit filmjitsu.net to vote!

Welcome to Your Movie Rocks, an Alternate Ending podcast hosted by Mandy Albert. For every episode, Mandy will watch a movie assigned by her guest host, followed by a lively discussion. There's only one rule: no matter what the movie does to her, Mandy is only allowed to love it. For Episode 3, Mandy is joined by Zev Burrows for some quality time In a Lonely Place (1950) with Humphrey Bogart and Gloria Grahame. Tune in to find out what it has in common with The Garbage Pail Kids Movie, why more movies should be made in the middle of their stars' messy divorces, and what Zev was thinking when he decided, like a weirdo, that it might be fun to watch a good movie for the podcast.
In the latest episode of the podcast that wields films like deadly weapons, Mike pulls out a Geneva-Convention-breaking offensive attack with 2005's The Crow - Wicked Prayer, the fourth movie in the original run of the "Crow" franchise starring Filmjitsu favorite, Eddie Furlong as a ghostly avenger in sad clown makeup. Jay dutiful reviews the film, trying to make sense of how it simultaneously has so much and so little on its mind and then the guys list off their "Bottom Dive Direct-to-Video Titles" in honor of all those movies, like this "Wicked Prayer," that didn't make it to the movie theater and, instead, crowd video shelves and streaming service menus.. Next, the duo nearly plays a round of "Dueling Double Bills" before Jay strikes back with his own cinematic counterattack, revealing the next episode's review. But before the show wraps, a Sophie's Choice is unleashed—meaning YOU, the listeners, get to decide Jay's next punishment! Will it be Street Fighter or The Garbage Pail Kids Movie? Cast your vote now at filmjitsu.com!
Remember the ‘80s craze that had parents clutching their pearls and kids trading like stockbrokers? This week, we're diving into the gross, hilarious, and totally controversial world of Garbage Pail Kids!
Double the stink, double the suffering! On this frightfully fun episode, we're going to take on two of the worst films ever spawned from the bowels of bad cinema. TROLL 2 and THE GARBAGE PAIL KIDS MOVIE - which is the greater abomination? Which film will break our spirits first? Join us as we suffer through terrible special effects, a random musical sequence, questionable parental choices and so much more. Tune in… before our sanity oozes away!
On Wikipedia, there is a list of films considered to be the worst. We have talked about a few of those films on this show before, and more often than not, we've positive aspects to praise. This time, we may have met our match. Strap in, dear listeners, as we drink a whole jug of nightmare fuel and try to prove that The Garbage Pail Kids Movie is not that bad. www.notthatbadcast.com Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/notthatbadcast Social Media - @notthatbadcast (X, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Spoutible) Learn more about your ad choices. Cooper and Nolan are getting trashed this week when they cover THE GARBAGE PAIL KIDS MOVIE! Despite the tagline promising a live action heap of fun, when the guys lifted the lid on this stinker that is NOT what they found. Luckily there's lots to talk about, from the truly haunting Garbage Pail Kids' head effects to 80s parenting techniques to who is and isn't allowed to wear a dashiki. There's a lot more to be found as well, so get ready to sift through the mess; this episode (featuring a beer from All My Friends Beer Co.) is one you won't want to throw away!
Dan & Manny go deep into the July Nostalgic News to see if it passes the ultimate test--THE NOSTALGIA TEST! July was a very eventful month in the Nostalgia community. Dan & Manny start with sad news, the recent passing of beloved pop-culture icons Shannon Doherty, Richard Simmons, Bob Newhart, and Dr. Ruth. The guys panic about the hydrothermal explosion in Yellowstone National Park and how the park is literally a huge volcano, and they reminisce on their time there during their cross-country road trip. Dan wants to talk about the 1992 NBA Dream Team and the return of Snapple's Elements drink line. Then Dan & Manny get down to business and rip into the upcoming sequels and reboots like Twisters, Alien: Romulus, the newest Karate Kid movie, 28 Years Later, Jurassic World 4, Matrix 5, Final Destination: Bloodlines and more. Plus, why would anyone think a new Naked Gun film starring Liam Neeson would be a good idea?! Finally, Dan & Manny give some of their Nostalgia predictions such as a possible live-action Rugrats or Doug movie adaptation. Elliott long claimed we would NEVER do the Garbage Pail Kids Movie, due to its extreme unpleasantness, but it only took a live show and the participation of our most GPK-pushing pal, Mr. Griffin Newman, of the excellent Blank Check podcast to break his resolve. Season 18 kicks off with a bang... wait that's not well written. And neither is 1987's The Garbage Pail Kids Movie. A Topps Chewing Gum Production. Great to be back in the bad movie trenches, but we weren't prepared for this one. Crude creatures from collectible cards cause confusion! Keeping ugly kids in a garbage pail! Attempted murder/pipe logic combo from hell! Overworking the otherworldly for snizz-snazz! Tangerine teasing a tiny teen! Chasing children for chump-change! Dodger sneaking sweat-shop sniffs! Fire-escape peeping tomfoolery! Making merriment with the less mature! Misguided marketing mishaps! Rivers of shit! Chris and Rob both piss their pants! Boy gets booby baffled! Pedo-film-ia? Aerosol Cosby Drops! Dodger jumped the Juice and jammed his jowls, and much, much more on this week's episode of The Worst Movie Ever Made! www.theworstmovieevermade.com
Joel and Andy watch a film based on a series of grotesque trading cards: The Garbage Pail Kids Movie!
This week it gets lonely at night, as we live in a twilight world and there are no friends at dusk. We welcome Matt Pollock (Matty's Movie Burner) back to the program on the final Friday of the month to induct a new entry into the podcast canon: 2020's Tenet, written and directed by Christopher Nolan, and starring John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Kenneth Branagh, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Himesh Patel, Clémence Poésy, Michael Caine, Martin Donovan, Dimple Kapadia, and former NHL super-pest Sean Avery. One of the few major theatrical releases of the COVID era, it was only just re-released to theaters to capitalize on Oppenheimer's Oscar momentum. But it's a polarizing movie to be sure. While the three of us love it a great deal, it is not a popular sentiment. We do our best to analyze why people put this undeniable gorgeous and visually inventive movie in the crosshairs, and if a critical re-appraisal is due. Plus it's not all Tenet talk, as Matty and J Mo combines for Theatrical Field Reports on Late Night with the Devil, Snack Shack and Love Lies Bleeding. Be forewarned: this is our longest episode ever, and you may want to watch the film before listening along. Unfortunately, at the time of publication, Tenet is currently unavailable for streaming in Canada, though, you know, you could check it out of the library if you're keen. Other works referenced in this episode include Wonka, Paddington, Paddington 2, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Licorice Pizza, Sex Drive, American Pie, Thirteen, Trainspotting, Kids, Heat, Superbad, Pineapple Express, The To-Do List, The Way Way Back, The Dark Knight, Early Edition, Prisoners, Dune: Part 1, S1m0ne, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning: Part 1, The Holdovers, The Iron Claw, Dune: Part 2, The Fabelmans, Dazed and Confused, California Split, A History of Violence, Gone Baby Gone, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, The Garbage Pail Kids Movie, Footloose, X-Men '97, Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Madame Web, Dune (1984), Arrival, Hot Rod, The Departed, The Invisible Man, In Bruges, Widows, Inception, 12 Monkeys, The Terminator, Looper, Dunkirk, Munich, Belfast, Love Actually..., A Haunting in Venice, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Interstellar, Good Time, High Life, The Lost City of Z, The Boy and the Heron, the Twilight saga, May-December, Station Eleven, Weeds, Insomnia, The Art of Racing in the Rain, Malcolm X, The Dark Knight Rises, Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade, E.T., Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jurassic Park, and Good Will Hunting among others. We'll be back next week to kick off April as we check back in with our old pal Tom Cruise and follow him over to Japan for 2003's The Last Samurai, a movie which is presently unavailable to stream in Canada but can be rented on Amazon and YouTube. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!!

The Spin Chagrin, a concept that finds Frank having to watch a movie he's never seen before based on the random spin of a wheel filled with off-the-wall genres, continues into a new year. In this episode, Frank's categories were "Grown Women Acting Like Assholes" and "A Movie Starring a TV Sitcom Actor." For this, Frank watched and reviewed the notoriously awful The Garbage Pail Kids Movie based on the Topps trading cards.
"Shorned Shawn", "Travellin' Travis", and "Doughy Joey" gag on the gross-out humor of 1989's The Garbage Pail Kids Movie. Do fart jokes ever get old? Yes, as a matter of fact, they do.
Writer Dave Ferguson (The Birthday Boys, I Love You America) braves our October excursion into cinematic scare fare with a discussion of David Cronenberg's 1986 classic THE FLY starring Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis. The Canadian auteur injects his unmistakable brand of body horror into this sci-fi fable of scientist Seth Brundle (Goldblum) whose experiments with matter transport go awry when he mistakenly teleports himself along with a single house fly. THE FLY was a well-reviewed box office hit upon release, solidifying Goldblum and Davis as a brainy (and very tall) screen couple for the '80s and unleashing Cronenberg as a sicko master for the masses. Join us as we merge with THE FLY, taking a few diversions into Vidiots, The Garbage Pail Kids Movie, Mel Brooks, bug digestion, Little Monsters, stress dreams, kid Halloween costumes, Axe Body Spray, the Grinch and much, much more! THE FLY is currently available to stream with subscription to Max.

Jon and Fil are still on holiday break, so in their absence comes an episode released from the vaults of Patreon. It is one of the most vile and disturbing episodes we've ever done. It should have remained behind the paywall, but now this disgusting episode is here to fart, snot and puke its way into your ears and right through your brains...From out of the Garbage Pail and straight back into the garbage pail... It's THE GARBAGE PAIL KIDS MOVIE! Jon & Fil bring you the podcast episode no one should've asked for, about the movie no one asked for... but here we are!Our boy Will Dunn, bringer of pain with the Ewoks episode, became a 2x Good Bagel Boss and requested this special episode. Because we are good sports, we obliged, but it took every fibre of our being to get through this one. Mainly Fil. A story about 80's fashion, toxic relationships, peeing one's pants, and farts. Listen in as me and returning guest Dan take a pee-soaked, snot-strung stroll down memory lane with this horrific example of a "family film." Directed by Rod Amateau (Son of Hitler, Drive-In, Gilligan's Island) and written by Amateau and Linda Palmer (Legion of Fire: Killer Ants!, The Garbage Pail Kids Movie), TV Guide Magazine called the film "stunningly inept and totally reprehensible," and The Globe and Mail said "it is charmless, humorless, cynical and mean-minded." Man, oh man. Sure, I was a child when I used to watch this, but it can't be *that* bad... can it? Let's find out! It tells the story of a apparent 14-year-old orphan named Dodger (Mackenzie Astin, giving it his all) who lives/works for Captain Manzini (Anthony Newley, who brings some sense of grace to the proceedings), and is constantly bullied by a trio of twentysomething thugs. Tangerine (Katie Barberi), the girlfriend of ringleader Juice, finds herself kind of endeared to Dodger then flat out using him for clothing made by the titular oddball children. Captain Manzini has been keeping them captive in a garbage can in his store because that's what one does. Look, it doesn't make any sense, okay? But there is a State Home for the Ugly, really bad animatronic suits, and lots of farts. Be honest, that's why you're here, right? It's the farts. The film is currently available on Amazon Prime, DVD, and Blu-ray. Be sure to check out Dan's awesome podcast! You can find it at http://justonethingpodcast.com

Well, we finally did it: found a film that had the potential to damage children irreparably and involved characters living in a literal trash can. We couldn't think of a better way to go out! So we talk about one last movie before calling it a podcast. One where tiny, disgusting little goblin “children” work in a sweatshop and pee and vomit and eat human body parts. Our work here is done.

Today we are looking at a film often regarded as one of the worst movies ever made, The Garbage Pail Kids Movie from 1987.
The movie based on a trading card (which is always a great basis for a movie) was a huge box office flop when it came out. Even though there were thousands of kids who liked the Garbage Pail Kids, they couldn't get them to come see the movie. The truth is it was doomed from the start by a horrible plot (they form a sweat shop to meet a teenage girls demand for a fashion show) or animatronic heads that don't work (nightmare fuel). Whatever it was, this film is a disaster and we try to find a single redeeming quality. Is there a reason that this movie actually rules?
The Garbage Pail Kids Movie from 1987 is a bad film. We reminisce about opening packets of stinky stickers with chalky bubblegum, and debate why on earth this was a film and not the Saturday morning TV show it should've been. The budget sure felt like it.
