In Zusammenhang mit einem Erpressungsversuch haben Bundesrat Alain Berset und die Strafverfolgungsbehörden legal gehandelt. Zu diesem Schluss kommen die parlamentarischen Geschäftsprüfungskommissionen (GPK) in einem neuen Bericht. Doch kaum ist der Bericht publiziert, tauchen neue Fragen auf. Mit einem sogenannten «Hörnerfranken» will er Landwirte und Landwirtinnen belohnen, die sich für eine behornte Tierherde entscheiden. Die Inflation ist in den USA im Mai so weit nach oben geklettert wie seit 40 Jahren nicht mehr. Das Leben ist innerhalb eines Jahres um fast 9 Prozent teuerer geworden. Kein Wunder ist die Inflation aktuell eines der zentralen Themen in den Medien und in der Politik der USA.

Die Geschäftsprüfungskommissionen von National- und Ständerat (GPK) kritisieren den Bundesrat dafür, zu Beginn der Corona-Krise Anfang 2020 eine zu passive Rolle in der Krisenorganisation eingenommen zu haben. Die Regierung müsse die Lehren daraus ziehen. Weitere Themen: Die Schweiz und das Verteidigungsbündnis Nato wollen künftig enger zusammenarbeiten – unter Berücksichtigung der Schweizer Neutralität. Das hat Verteidigungsministerin Viola Amherd mit Nato-Generalsekretär Jens Stoltenberg vereinbart, bei einem Treffen am Weltwirtschafts-Forum WEF in Davos. Stoltenberg äusserte sich auch zum Begehren Deutschlands Schweizer Munition in die Ukraine liefern zu können. Die Gesundheitskommission des Nationalrates will die Regeln zur Blutspende ändern. Künftig sollen auch Männer, die mit Männer Sex haben, spenden dürfen, ohne vorher zwölf Monate sexuell abstinent zu leben. In der laufenden Vernehmlassung hat sich heute auch der Blutspendedienst des Schweizerischen Roten Kreuzes zu Wort gemeldet – mit Bedenken zur praktischen Umsetzung.

Buitenhuis ging voor een keertje met de burgerrups naar zijn werk (lees: borrel); een avontuur waar hij waarschijnlijk nog maanden over kan (en zal) vertellen. De Onmogelijke Opgave™️ van deze week blijkt uiteindelijk toch weer eensgezindheid op te leveren en Van Rijs heeft post gehad over zijn gehandicaptenparkeerkaart. Joris Luyendijk kwam afgelopen week in het nieuws met ‘de zeven vinkjes': de heren parlevinken er een achtste bij die meteen jeugdherinneringen naar boven haalt. Rick Brink, voormalig Minister van Gehandicaptenzaken en oud-collega van Buitenhuis heeft een nieuwe klus. Bij de werkgever van Van Rijs (het was ook zijn minister), wat toch wel wat ambivalente emoties bij hem oproept. Well, how about the fact he is a TV Host, Film Producer, 2 x Emmy Winner, CEO Aerolite Meteorites Inc., Governor National Space Society, Author, TEDx Speaker, and Asteroid 132904. And one of my favorite fun facts ever: He is a Garbage Pail Kid! Deaf Geoff to be precise. He was the inspiration for that iconic GPK card. We moshed our way down some great avenues of his early life's journeys. For a snapshot of where we headed (and for those who want to choose their own adventure and jump to a random place in the show), we started off with his time growing up with his best friend Neil Gaiman and the punk scene in late 70's England to his time moving to early 80's NYC playing at CBGB's and studying/working under Art Spiegelman (the inventor of the Garbage Pail Kids) to our shared kinship in the importance and love of DIY and handcrafted art.
