Christian O'Connell had everything he (thought he) ever wanted, but something just didn't feel right. Most of us have been there too. Christian O’Connell is one of the most beloved voices in radio and currently on Gold FM, an award-winning broadcaster who has reached millions across the UK and Australia. But behind the microphone and the confident persona is a man who has wrestled with fear, doubt, and a profound loss of identity. Sarah Grynberg sits down for a conversation with Christian, as he shares the highs and lows of his incredible journey. He opens up about the emotional weight of navigating anxiety, public scrutiny, and the false rumours that shook the foundation of his personal life. You’ll learn: *How Christian rebuilt his identity after hitting emotional rock bottom. *How he coped with debilitating panic attacks *How he dealt with hurtful fake news being written about his family *Why courage isn’t the absence of fear, but the willingness to keep going *How to make friends at any stage of life This is a story of resilience, rebirth, and having the strength it takes to be fully, fearlessly yourself while enjoying a healthy dose of hilarity along the way. An old friend of Hame, and according to his daughters an old dad, Christian O'Connell is a bona fide legend of radio broadcasting. And really, he's not even old! In this super funny, yet super heartfelt episode, Christian uses all 19 years of his dadding experience to distill down for us some really amazing insights and advice. He's thought about this dadding caper a lot, so from explaining his mantra of “no small moments”, to advice on how to negotiate with teenagers, Christian has put his formidable gift for communication to wonderful use for us in this episode. So sit down (or keep washing the dishes), start a new note, and jot down a few of Christain's pearlers. We sure did! Christian, (aided wonderfully by our good friend Jack Post) hosts the incredibly successful breakfast slot on Melbourne's GOLD FM, which then goes out nationally in the evenings. But he's actually pretty new to Australia, having only moved here in 2018. Before that he was one of the UK's most successful and celebrated radio presenters, with top rating shows on Absolute Radio, Virgin Radio and XFM. Christian has also spoken very openly about his battles with anxiety and panic attacks which precipitated his move to Australia in his book No One Listens To Your Dad's Show. He's also got a great podcast called Stuff of Legends, and you can find his chat with Hame HERE. — Big thanks to our great friends at HERTZ, our exclusive sponsor for the whole of Season 2. Labour has had a particularly bad month, between the recession announcement and multiple scandals coming out of Cabinet. Despite this, National's Luxon fell to 22 percent in the metric, his lowest in a Talbot Mills poll. Why can't National get ahead in the polls? This week on the Sunday Panel, Newstalk ZB and Gold FM host Andrew Dickens and NZ Herald senior writer Simon Wilson joined on a discussion about the following issues of the week: The Government has decided to remove the entrenchment clause from Three Waters legislation and Leader of the House Chris Hipkins labelled it a "mistake". This follows on from an extended period of lawyers and legal experts criticising the entrenchment clause. What do we think of this? A Hungarian family who operates two successful businesses in Kapati have been given 42 days to leave the country after their application for residency was rejected by Immigration New Zealand. Is this fair? Wouldn't we want more people like this in the country? At least 35 companies have hired the Resilience Institute to train their staff to go on holiday. What have we come to if we don't know how to relax on holiday? Is this a side effect of the modern world? LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

I first came across the Adelaide-raised Anthony “Lehmo” Lehmann when he teamed up with Wil Anderson for their national drive show Wil and Lehmo. I loved his work on Before the Game where he cracked football-wise alongside Dave Hughes, Peter Helliar, Andy Maher and Samantha Lane.Since then, he and Joe Stanley took Gold FM’s breakfast show to number one before being fired – he talks about that here – and he’s since moved on to hosting breakfast on SAFM.I like Lehmo’s work ethic and the fact that he’s performed to Australian troops in army bases in East Timor as well as across the Middle East.He talks about that here as well in an extremely moving way. His new show is called Be Nice and it's at the Rhino room at the Adelaide Fringe, starting on February 22.Lehmo said it was originally going to be called Don't Be A Fuckwit but he thought that might scare people off. Back in 2018, Christian was the most popular breakfast host in the UK – with three million people listening to his show each morning. Then, a combination of panic attacks and wanderlust made him decide to leave his top rating show, uproot his family and move to Australia to become the breakfast host on Melbourne’s Gold FM.In his book, No One Listens to Your Dad’s Show, he charts his experiences with mental health, his decision to move to Australia and then the battle to take his show to number one.I loved the book, and here we dig even deeper into his hilarious struggle to make friends in his adopted country, how he cries nearly as much as I do and the sessions he had with an unconventional therapist.Right at the end, I asked what I thought was a professional question about how he acquired such a resonant voice – and the answer was surprisingly personal.
