Today I share an exciting update as Let's Parent on Purpose is now a ministry of The 127 Project. All of your giving is now tax deductible. In addition to supporting Let's Parent on Purpose, your giving will help build a Hope Home for Dowry Castaway children in India. I also share a set of questions to help you evaluate the discipleship growth of yourself and your children. Listen as I discuss how the following questions can help you grow in discipleship: For an initial believer: Head Do I understand the gospel? Do I believe the gospel? Heart Am I convicted of sin? Am I drawn to Jesus? Hands Have I surrendered my life to Jesus? Have I received His forgiveness and grace? For an ongoing disciple (compared to past self, not to other people): Head How Am I growing in understanding God and His Word? What do I now know how to teach or share to another? Heart Am I tender to the things of Jesus? How would I describe my joy in the things of God? Hands What am I releasing to God? How am I serving Jesus? To be intentional about your discipleship walking forward: Head What habit am I going to pursue to grow in knowing God and His Word? Heart What habit am I going to pursue to grow my love and joy in Jesus and not just fall into religious duty? Hands In what ways am I going to be consistently generous with my money and service this year? Earlier this year LeadingAgile was contacted by GC Uttam who expressed an interest in taking Certified Scrum Master training. Uttam wanted to learn how he could use Agile practices within his organization to provide better support for the Nepalese orphans and widows they serve. LeadingAgile believes strongly in giving back. And whenever we can we provide open seats in our classes to those whose work is to serve others. We offered Uttam a seat and agreed to check back a few months after class to see how he'd been able to put what he learned to use. During the interview, Uttam and Dave talk about how he has introduced some of the key principles and values from Agile back to his teams and the people they serve. You'll also hear about how they've begun using Scrum to run marketing experiments in their ministry work.

Seventy percent (70%) of the residents of India do not have clean water. The slums do not have any running water at all. When we send a Pastor to a new village, we enter by providing clean water. When we build a Hope Home, we put 4 taps inside the home for the children and we put 2 taps outside the home for the community. If we meet the needs of the people through clean water, we feel we have the right to share Christ with them. No one can come to the Father but by Him. This week Tom Service focuses on freelance musicians. He hears from the violinist Daniel Hope about the collaborative Hope@Home concert series featuring performances with young freelance musicians from his own living room in Berlin, which have been broadcast by the German/French ARTE TV network since the start of the pandemic and have reached a staggering 8-million viewers. The composer and author Julian Anderson speaks to Tom about his life in music - from his very first symphony, to an opera specially commissioned for a socially distanced world, Eight songs from isolation, as well as his new book of conversations with the scholar and critic Christopher Dingle, Dialogues on Culture, Composing and Listening. The trumpeter Chris Cotter talks to Music Matters about the ongoing economic and artistic challenges facing freelance musicians as they supplement their income by taking on other jobs. Horace Trubridge of the Musicians' Union talks to Tom about access to income support schemes, and we hear too from folk musician Anna Massie who explains how she and her peers are trying to find new ways of connecting with their audiences, while the jazz guitarist Shirley Tetteh describes what has happened to her life as a session musician since the start of the first lockdown.

Hey mamas, On today's episode we hope to spread some awareness on a serious issue that, until recently, was something most of us didn't realize was happening in our very own community. An issue so important, that once we learned more about it, we knew we wanted to do what we could to ensure that parents and community members stay informed. We're referring to the issue of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation – happening right here in Durham Region. Today, we talk to Kate Moore from Safe Hope Home, a local long-term recovery program to help support survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation. Kate shares with us some of the incredible work that Safe Hope Home is doing and gives us the facts about the occurrence of sex trafficking here in Durham Region. This is an underground issue but a very prevalent one. Kate talks about the misconceptions of what sex trafficking really looks like, points out a few local and well-known spots that are a common target area for recruitment into sex trafficking, as well as shares ways you can talk to your kids and teens to keep them informed – and most of all safe. We also discuss ways to get involved in Safe Hope Home initiatives and fundraisers, and how we as a community can contribute to the solutions.

RuffattoPsalm 119:41-48Isaiah 51:6-82 Timothy 1:6-10Matthew 4:12-25In the first two parts of this series, we heard the Word remind us – Do not neglect the gift you’ve been given (cf. 1 Timothy 4:14); Do not quench the Spirit (cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:19); and this episode further underscores and highlights this theme as Paul exhorts: “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:6-7)God has gifted us with an active faith calling us into meeting the needs of others, so we may be Help in the Body of Christ. In baptism, God has put His seal on us and prepares us to share the good news of the Gospel, making us Hope in the Body of Christ. And as we live our baptism lives, that living water wells up and spreads to others, building relationships which make us Home in the Body of Christ.—————————————————Help, Hope, Home In this sermon series, we explore what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. What it means to be a lifelong follower and learner of Jesus. What it means to be a disciple – to follow and learn from Jesus right here and how we can live that out for the good of our congregation – for each other – and the good of the greater community as we look to continue to enact our vision of being help, hope, home, in the Body of Christ.

At Embrace Grace, we believe that birth moms are true heroes. We love that they put their baby first and make a selfless decision to choose life and an amazing family for their baby. The way God weaves these stories together, connecting the birth mom to the adoptive family and how He provides all of their needs, is a beautiful miracle to behold. Join in on today's podcast and hear Amy Ford chat with Brandi Smith about her story as a birth mom. Years ago, God drew her to choose adoption and now her story touches hundreds of lives as she serves at Heart of Hope Home in Louisiana.
