Over 17-years ago, then Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was indicted and charged with 'crimes' related to the filling Obama's seat in the Senate. Two years later, he was found guilty of one count of making false statements and a mistrial declared on 23 charges due to a hung jury after 14 days of jury deliberation. Prosecutors, within 15-minutes, announced they would seek a retrial and so they did. At the retrial, he found guilty of 11 charges of corruption related to the sale of the Obama seat and 6 charges related to pay-to-play dealings. On Dec 7th 2011, Rod was sentenced to 14-years in jail, which he served 8 out of those 14 years with President Trump commuting his sentence in 2020. Since that time, Trump has also issued a full pardon to Rod. So what was the reasoning behind going after him in the first place? Why did Obama want him gone? Rod never received a dollar from the alleged scheme and at trial, the judge would not allow the wiretapping tapes to be played. If he was wiretapped, and did the crime, why not release the tapes for a jury to decide, what did they have to hide? The invasion of Ukraine by Russia shook Europe's belief in its own security architecture in a way not seen since the second world war - but even more surprising to the European mind is how the new US President views the conflict. Donald Trump has called President Zelensky a 'dictator' in a recent press conference, and for that, has earned widespread condemnation from America's closest allies. So is Trump really turning on Ukraine? Or could this be some kind of tactic pulled straight from 'The Art of the Deal'? Next, we talk about a man named Derek Murphy who has an unusual hobby. He exposes cheaters in marathons and other endurance races. He runs a website called MarathonInvestigations.com and uses a variety of techniques to root out those that have cheated. One such runner that he outed was Frank Meza, 70 year-old doctor who got caught cheating in the Los Angeles Marathon last year. Unfortunately, Meza later killed himself after he was exposed because he could no longer stand the scrutiny. Derek Murphy says he was not targeting Meza just that he wanted to maintain the integrity of the sport. Still his website is filled with many instances of others cheating the system. Gordy Megroz, contributor to Wired, joins us for more on the man that catches marathon cheaters. On today's podcast we get into reports that the Attorney General said he'd quit if President Trump doesn't stop tweeting about cases the Justice Department is working on. Plus, we get into the pardons and clemencies the President granted yesterday and compare the reaction to them to how people reacted when President Obama did the same thing. AG Barr reportedly has told people close to him that he'll resign if the President doesn't stop tweeting about cases the Justice Department is currently working. The President himself acknowledged to reporters that his tweeting makes Barr's job harder, but will it make a difference? We get into why the President should heed the warning and do what is necessary to keep Barr in his job. The President issued pardons to, and commuted the sentences of several people yesterday, which is his right. But one, the commutation of the sentence of disgraced former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, was met with media outrage. No such outrage was expressed by these media elites when Barack Obama committed the sentences of a traitor or an unrepentant terrorist. We get into the differences and expose why.
