Here you go friends for a Monday evening. First of all I have a celebration day and it's always nice to be able to share a happy day. But I also have decided that because so many things are changing in my life that we all need to get used to not only changing things but also changing names. So I have a little 12 minute story that I think will be amusing and possibly helpful to you and I know that if you want to excell and do well in the challenging times before us you're gonna have to take one of my suggestions quite seriously. And here is what STOSH the robot has to say Could Everything You've Learned Be Wrong? Why I'm Changing the Name—and What That Might Mean for You Hi, I'm Stan—the Radio Man—and I've been hosting a podcast called Interesting Ideas. But here's the big news: it's time to change the name. And no, this isn't just a branding decision. It's something deeper. Something more personal. Something that might matter to you, too. Let me tell you why. A Personal Moment Sparks a Shift Today is my daughter's birthday. My youngest is turning 50. And as I reflect on that (with a bit of disbelief), I realize that life constantly changes—whether we're ready or not. Back when I was teaching high school history, I overheard one of my students tell a classmate, “It doesn't matter what the course is—it's always Husted.” That comment has stayed with me. It reminded me that no matter what label you slap on the work, if I'm involved, I bring a certain way of thinking, a certain voice, and a certain personality to the table. So when I change the name of this show, it's not about erasing the past—it's about aligning with the present. Because I've changed. The world has changed. Maybe you have, too. The Drucker Moment That Changed Everything Years ago, I read a Forbes article featuring the legendary management consultant Peter Drucker. It was the October 1998 issue. The cover headline jolted me into a new awareness: “Everything You've Learned About the New Economy Could Be Wrong.” I kept that cover. Blew it up into a poster. Used it as a constant reminder in my coaching and consulting work. Why? Because that sentence hits hard. It dares us to consider that our cherished assumptions might no longer apply. And in today's world—where everything is accelerating—this kind of thinking is more vital than ever. Why the Name Must Change The name Interesting Ideas has served us well. But now, I'm searching for something more fitting. Maybe something like: • Instigating Ideas • Innovative Ideas • Inconvenient Ideas • Irritating Ideas • Inspirational Ideas I want a name that reflects not just curiosity, but courage. Because that's what it takes to admit, “I was wrong.” It takes maturity to grow up, not just grow older. And if you've ever changed your mind, you know what I mean. When we realize that what we used to know might no longer be true, we're not falling apart—we're waking up. And that's where real wisdom begins. What This Podcast Is Really About Here's how I see the journey: • Ideas lead to • Insight, which leads to • Influence, which creates • Impact, and if you're lucky, • Income—not just financial, but relational, spiritual, and personal wealth. We're entering what I call The Impact Zone. If you don't make an impact today, you may already be invisible. And I believe we were made to leave an imprint—to leave behind more than we take. Key Takeaways • It's okay to change your mind. Growth means rethinking what we thought we knew. • Impact matters. In this fast-changing world, we must move from ideas to action. • Names are not sacred. What matters is the substance, not the label. • Humility is power. Saying, “I was wrong,” might be the wisest thing you'll ever do. • Wisdom is the goal. Not information, not even knowledge—but wisdom. A Red Plate Day—and a Call to You When our kids were young, we had a tradition: on birthdays or special occasions, we'd bring out a red plate that read, *This is your special day*. It was a way of saying, “You matter.” Today, as I honor my daughter's milestone, I realize that this is my red plate day, too. And maybe yours. So here's my call to action: • Rethink something you've always believed. • Be willing to be wrong—so you can become wiser. • Give me your thoughts on what this new name could be. • And above all, aim to leave a legacy of impact, wisdom, and blessings. Because as much as everything may change, one thing doesn't: our calling to bless others at every turn. Thanks for listening. Let's continue the journey—under a new name, but with the same spirit. Until next time… from whatever this show will soon be called. Blessings always, Stan the Radio Man

Well I hope not but that might be a wise thing to consider. And I am sure that many others are doing just that. This is April 1 and I'm not fooling around about anything. I am discovering that we are going to be in for some real turbulence in life and business and perhaps we need to know how to handle things and take advantage of other things in this time of turbulence, transitions, and possible transformations, So please give me just 15 minutes to challenge your thinking and perhaps see if I can help you do some things that will make things better for you... Because I think I can. Now let me introduce you to what Stosh the radio robot had to say aout the program ... He is pretty smart so take some time to listen and to read.... Should my Jewish and Tesla-Driving Friends Start Carrying a Gun? By Stan the Radio Man This isn't a question I ever thought I'd ask out loud. But here we are. April Fool's Day isn't hitting the same this year. Maybe because the joke's on all of us. Or maybe because things have gotten so absurd, so twisted, that even asking “should my Jewish and Tesla-owning friends start carrying a gun?” doesn't feel like satire anymore. I'm not trying to be sensational. I'm trying to sort things out—just like I asked God in a recent prayer. Help me sort things out… and then sort me in. Show me where I belong in all this. Where we all belong. Because 2025 isn't just a year on the calendar—it's a turning point. A time of turbulence, yes. But also a time of transition, and if we're wise and brave, maybe even transformation. That's the tension we're living in. That's what today's “Interesting Ideas” is all about. The Underlying Fear Across campuses like Harvard and Columbia, reports are rolling in that Jewish students don't feel safe. We're seeing a rise in antisemitism, not whispered but shouted in the open. Vandalism of Tesla cars—just because they represent a certain class, or carry perceived political weight. And in the middle of it all are real people—your neighbors, your friends, your family—wondering, Am I next? It makes you wonder: what would you do to protect yourself, your family, your peace? One friend of mine—Jewish, peace-loving, and proud—told me recently, “I carry.” In Arizona, that's legal. Open carry, just like the Old West. He's got an ankle holster, ready if things go sideways. Not because he wants to use it. But because he doesn't want to be caught unprepared. The painful part is—this isn't just paranoia. It's remembering history. Echoes from Amsterdam Years ago, when I lived in Amsterdam, I often took visitors to the Anne Frank House. There was a quiet protest once by a Jewish group—not anti-Anne Frank, not anti-anything really. Just a plea: Let's not let it happen again. They pointed out something I'd never fully grasped: What if someone had been ready when the Gestapo came? What if resistance started sooner? Would it have changed anything? Some argue yes. The Warsaw Ghetto uprising, for instance, proved that resistance can exact a cost—even when ultimately crushed. It was a declaration: We will not go quietly. But is that where we are now? Back at the edge of the abyss? Tesla, Symbols, and Targets Teslas have become more than just electric cars. For some, they symbolize progress. For others, elitism. Either way, they've become targets—scratched, keyed, smashed. A strange sort of backlash. When objects become symbols, and people get targeted for owning them, we're in dangerous territory. When identities—Jewish, tech-forward, urban, progressive, whatever—are turned into excuses for violence, we all lose. So the question I asked—about Jews and Tesla drivers carrying weapons—isn't just about guns. It's about fear. And choice. And where we go from here. The Drip Effect I've got a little background behind me when I broadcast, a reminder of what I call the “drip effect.” Sometimes it's the little things, drop by drop, that wear us down. But it can also be the small efforts, one at a time, that make things better. It's not all doom and gloom. I believe in the drip of kindness, of community, of resilience. That's the part we can't lose. Takeaways to Consider Fear is real. Dismissing it doesn't help. Neither does giving in to it. History teaches—but we must listen. “Never again” means vigilance, not silence. Symbols matter. Cars, identities, beliefs—these can inspire or inflame. Be mindful. Protection is personal. The right to defend oneself is real, but so is the cost of living on edge. Connection is key. Talk to your neighbors. Know their stories. Build the kind of world where guns aren't necessary. Moving Forward, Together These are turbulent times. Like that bumpy flight from Minneapolis to Phoenix—seatbelts fastened the whole way—we're riding through unknown skies. But turbulence doesn't mean the plane will crash. It just means we need to hold on, be aware, and trust each other a little more. So here's the encouragement I leave you with: Choose to be one of the good drips. Be the one who checks on a friend. Who speaks up when something's not right. Who listens deeply to the fear and the frustration—and then does something helpful, not harmful, in response. We don't all need to carry weapons. But we do need to carry each other. Reach out to me. Share your story. Tell me what you're seeing, what you're feeling, what ideas you have for helping people through this. I'm at stan@witradio.net, and I mean it when I say—I want to hear from you. Till next time, I'm Stan the Radio Man Still believing in Interesting Ideas Still believing in you

This is episode 500 of the recent editions of Interesting Ideas with Stan Hustad and I really can't think of a better program so close to my heart and many others than this one. In a recent meeting with my local Rotary club the guest speaker was Dr. Richard Bedlack ... A medical doctor and a PhD researcher from Duke University Department of Neurology... His powerful presentation, along with a patient friend who is living well and way beyond the usual length and quality of life of an ALS patient was inspiring to us all. It was one of the finest and Hope filled programs and presentations that I had heard in a long time. So I invited him to be a guest on Interesting Ideas and particularly for our series on The Transformation Project. He agreed and I guarantee you will find his story encouraging and hopeful. And don't just listen to his description of his work in the project but also to Dr. Richard approach to life and learning which is one that all of us can benefit from!

Here at Interesting Ideas we also work with our other affiliates and companies. One of them is The Christian Entrepreneur network which provides a Jesus Entrepreneur Experience which is re-launching as we speak. And one of the nice things about having a regular schedule of broadcasting is you get to have an idea, and then keep it and sometimes even forget that you did it, and then have the privilege of finding it again and saying ... Oh my I forgot about that and it's pretty good. Well on this mid week Wednesday let me share this with you because these are things you still need to know because the times are every bit as challenging and maybe more so than they were even in Covid 2020 as they are now in 2024, Thanks for being with me... I appreciate you!

Starting this Sunday we're going to begin a whole new series of little 5 to 7 minute programs every day later in the afternoon early evening on the subject of ON GOING DOWN. And today millions of people around the world celebrated what is oftentimes called the triumphal entry of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem. I'm not so sure about that description. And so I have re-entitled it Sunday Morning Going Down. So please give me seven minutes to tell you the introduction to my story and perhaps how you might join me in seeking not only to think differently but actually be different at the end of the week.

"Steve we have to hear your story! " That's what I recently said to my friend Steven Lear when I found out that he had just recently returned on a trip from Israel. Steve and I have known each other for a number of years and I always knew that he was thoughtful and well informed as well as very good at the work he did. I also knew that he was a good teacher even though he probably would not call himself that. But he is, and whenever something in the Middle East happened, which happens a lot, I knew that if I wanted to understand what was going on that I would not necessarily listen to all the stuff on the news, but that Steve often times knew the real story and perhaps had some ideas about what needs to be done. And now we know that the war continues on and is at a pivot and turning point, so I asked if Steve would take this time to give us some thing to think about, and not just some interesting ideas, but some challenges. That's what he does so please listen. You need to hear this! Please be informed that the views expressed in this program are those of Steven Lear personally. They do not reflect the views or opinions of any government agency or institution or of Affiance Financial. Thanks Stan

Well once again the news here in the USA is about former President Donald Trump and that he has now been indicted the third time, with a possible fourth on the line. Obviously the nation is divided over that with some people calling it a political hit job and a fraud, and of course there are others who believe that it's finally some accountability and the Donald Trump is getting what he deserves. Well it will be an interesting drama ... But I'm going to be so bold to suggest something that I think is quite obvious, Donald Trump will be OK. He may not win the presidency but he will have a following and a loyal audience of millions no matter what, and no he will not land up in jail. That won't happen. So let me make my point but then on a related and Segue point may I quote Maya Angelou who in many ways knows part of the secret to Donald Trump's continuing success, and she also knows something that you can learn if you're trying to build a life and a business that makes a difference. Yes today some lessons from Donald Trump and Maya Angelo and me! Thanks Stan

Well over the weekend I got all of my previous radio programs on Interesting Ideas and it precursors transferred to a YouTube channel where you can experience all of them and hundreds of people did over the weekend. I'm grateful And I hope your weekend was worthwhile but sometimes in the radio business they may call it worthless, and what in the world does that mean. But right now a lot of people are questioning their own place position in space in life. So the article came out and simply asked the question "Are you in the place where you're supposed to be? And in a number of ways I went through that exercise this weekend and I pass it onto you for some of your summertime thinking reading and maybe even meditating and praying. And now I am convinced that by Labor Day weekend here in United States which is the end of summer I hope to have some real clarity about that question. So let me start helping you and if you want some real time professional help maybe I can do that in terms of your life and business. All the best in this summertime Stan

Here we go let's lighten up after a hard week and thank goodness it's Friday. I once made people change their names for an exercise in a leadership workshop. Let me tell you the story about that. And let me ask you, how did you get your name and do you like your name? How and why did you name your children and do they like their name? By the way have you ever thought about changing your name and if you did what would you change it to? You see naming is very important and often today it is defining and you must be in the business of protecting your name and your reputation... Indeed there's more to when you think about this name game and I think will entertain you and perhaps actually help you get ready for the rest of your life in someway small way! Because that's what we do and I think we do it pretty well. Stan By the way this is episode 300 in interesting ideas maybe you should go back and listen to some of them again sometime.

During the weekend we took time to watch the latest Tom Hanks film called OTTO. Of course Hanks is a great actor and he chooses only good shows to be in. This was a touching film a bit of a tearjerker and for the most part I would recommend it. However today Tom Hanks made the news by saying that AI is getting so good that he can make movies after he is dead. You know what, he's probably right. And with a little help I can even be making radio programs after I'm dead. So let me tell you the story of how that can be and why you need to have lots of practice coming up with interesting ideas because doing that every day may be the only way that you'll be able to keep the robots away. There will be a lot of new jobs and there will be the end of a lot of traditional work that many people are doing these days. So this program could be a bit of preparation for saving your job and saving your career by helping make sure that you are one incredibly interesting and unique individual. There is no one quite like you and they can't make a robot as good as you. All of this good stuff in under 20 minutes on a Monday evening. And best and blessings because you and I will need it. Stan

You should do what I'm doing right now, using my voice to tell a good story, to challenge people including me to be more humane and thoughtful and brave and bold; and sometimes funny and make mistakes and be very human. And even if you never record that speech or share it with others it is vital to your personal, professional and often emotional and spiritual development. This is especially true if you are like our family and many others who have children and grandchildren who have special needs for their social and academic success. So may I share a story with you of a brave bold, and she finally admits that she just about was too late, in speaking up and having a strong voice for her child. This is a story we all need to here so please take the 20 minutes for me to tell it to you and perhaps share some challenges with you. Stan

Well here we go with the Tuesday show and hopefully it will not be Tuesday trivial. But I just finished reading the book of memoirs that he did not write but was Paul Newman's memoirs. How do you think he was able to do that.,,, and it was interesting that one of the great legendary movie stars of the past imes had as the subtitle an extraordinary life by an ordinary man. And there was some deep meaning in the description and when you read the stories you can get a sample of both the extraordinary times and opportunities and in some cases how this comes to really very ordinary people, like Paul Newman, So if you give me 20 minutes of some very interesting storytelling I'll tell you a little bit about that and you can learn some lessons if you want or wish but then with your permission may I actually challenge you to do this... In spite of all the false hope in the latest News and so-called information about a mortality that will not be possible as far as we can see. But we'll see what they have in mind but may I remind you that there are ways that you can actually at least have a touch of a imortality in the voice of stories of wisdom insight and truth that you were able to share with others all around the world right now and maybe who knows forever. Let me challenge you with some interesting ideas Stan

In today's world we will encounter challenges and many of these will be challenges that very few people have gone through before. We will need even more spiritual energy, stronger personality, greater wisdom and lots of courage to do well and to be well at this time. So with your permission may I share with you a few insights from 25 years and then some as a business performance coach the creators and entrepreneurs. I would like to share with you a simple that profound idea. I call it the 45 factor ... It's four powerful words and then five more. Next 15 minutes I think you'll be a bit wiser, maybe smarter and even a lot braver. So please join me as I tell you the story, tell me something I don't know. Thanks Stan

The woman came up to the speakers platform and she was strong and striding hard and fast and she looked me in the eye and made a powerful statement. Let me tell you the story as to what she said to me that day. Well today we're gonna talk a little bit about daylight savings time and I would like to know whether you think it's a good thing or a bad thing. And then indeed we're gonna talk about giving away power and how that can begin to hurt us, and yet we're going to reverse the formula and show that in some ways that can work too. And maybe a way to deal with the power-play players in your office and workplace. And hopefully at the end of 15 minutes you'll have something to think about to make you stronger bolder braver and more powerful. Stan

It's mid week and we are all seeking to get things in place so we can finish up well and strong for the week and make it more than worthwhile, maybe even an exceptional time and performance for the week. I will join many of my fellow believers more round the world and go and get the same of ashes at the Ash Wednesday service... It is a ritual and service full of images and ideas. And that's a good reminder that often times a good idea as to be given a image,a sound, an action and even a performance. For one of my projects I just got through doing a video performance about why dressing in a coat and tie can help you better understand how to be very good at radio, television, and because all business is show business even in our work and career. So can I share with you the story and the challenge of what I do in a program in coat and tie will remind you of one of the most important principles not only in radio but maybe even in life. It's only about 15 minutes but you'll learn something you didn't know before I'm pretty sure.

Well the Internet and all the news is all about Artificial Intelligence AI and about balloons. And so I say Wow and Whoa! And please be careful because now the world is full of foolish people claiming everything about AI and they are willing to tell you what to do and where to go if you give them money. I just have a few cautionary thoughts for myself that might be helpful to you. Sometimes we need to think seriously about busting all of the balloons of ideas that come our way. And then a WOW about a wonderful story about the balloon that got away... And then in a book that's almost 100 years old I found a story that touched my heart and was as relevant as today. I will simply entitled it and it's only about six minutes and it's called, But what if I thank them in advance.

I confess it's a hard statement to make some time, but I try to remind myself and sometimes share with others, but I know it may be hard to do that because so many hard things have happened and are happening... The statement is God is good all the time. I look at our world and the state of our leadership and shake my head at the sheer incompetence, often stupidity, and perhaps even a touch of evil that rattles and shakes our world. And sometimes you understand the evil is very real and big and large. Then what are you do. Well it may be time to remember and seek and live by faith that we do indeed live in a benevolent universe. It's hard for us sometimes to believe that indeed there is grace and it is real and it is amazing. So on this countdown to Christmas starting today at 10 to go let's remember some of the things that might be true for you and me in the midst of the comfort and the joy and indeed the crisis that is Christmas.

Let's face it it could be true that the smarter your stuff is the stupider you are. You see knowledge is not just knowing something it's knowing how you got the knowledge and how to do that. As I just asked my good friend Jason who is a financial advisor how he deals with the fact that people can get financial counsel from a Robo advisor. He has some real wisdom about that and perhaps I can talk him into telling you a little bit about that this week. In order to not be overwhelmed by your smart stuff you may need to be smarter yourself and certainly you need to be wiser about what is truly important And one of the reasons I do and go to the effort I'm doing this podcast is it is good for my brain and may help put off dementia of sorts. So join me as I respond to a wonderful new idea it's been around for a while but it's finally getting around as a result of a new book entitled the power of thinking outside your brain. I'm pretty sure that this 15 minutes will have some smart stuff to help make you smarter and maybe wiser. Join me and let's see what happens

I think I'm well known to many people because I have the reputation of persistence and in some cases real resilience. Indeed I am well known in many ways for pressing on. However there is another side of me and in the work I do in which I will agree in some respect with a new book that just came out by Annie Duke who walked away from an academic career and became a professional poker player. And in her book she takes some lessons that she learned from being a world class poker player into the marketplace and she shares that with and wisdom in her new book called Quit - The power of knowing when to walk away... I know something about that as one of the presentations that I've given to many people and they listen to my class is entitled, How to quit your soul sucking job! Well after I give a tip of the hat to the real Santa Claus, I miss his day and remind us of the day that lived in infamy I'd like to share some ideas with you about how you might find some help because maybe the gift you should give yourself is the gift of quitting. In about 15 minutes let me tell you that story!

Our Score - 6/10 Rotten Tomatoes - 39% IMDB - 5.4/10 Chosen By: Aaron Cronican Spiderhead (2022) looks great and has an incredible cast that deliver wonderful performances, but the poor writing, unfunny comedy and underdeveloped themes make it a bit of a mess to sit through.
