Eddie recounts the harrowing experience of being stabbed six times, an incident that changed the course of his life forever. In this riveting episode of the World of Martial Arts Show, Mick Tully sits down with the legendary Ajan Guru Eddie Quinn. Known as the best Irish martial artist in the Midlands, Eddie shares his extraordinary journey into martial arts, sparked by a life-altering event 40 years ago. Eddie's introduction to martial arts was not born out of a desire for competition or fame but from a deeply personal need for self-defence and healing. After a violent attack left him with multiple stab wounds, Eddie found himself at a crossroads. With the encouragement of a heart specialist, he embarked on a journey into the world of martial arts, initially exploring disciplines like Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai. However, it was his encounter with Silat and the teachings of Chris Parker that truly transformed his approach to martial arts. Over the years, Eddie developed 'The Approach', a unique martial arts system that emphasises simplicity, effectiveness, and adaptability. It's a method that resonates not only with martial artists but also with military personnel and self-defence enthusiasts worldwide. The beauty of 'The Approach' lies in its accessibility—if you can throw a ball, walk, and move naturally, you can master the basics of this system. Eddie's story is also a testament to the power of mentorship and community. His long-standing relationship with Chris Parker, a visionary in the martial arts world, has been pivotal in shaping his journey. It's a reminder that finding the right teacher can make all the difference in one's personal and professional growth. For those new to martial arts or considering starting, Eddie's journey offers invaluable lessons. It's not just about learning to fight; it's about building confidence, finding peace, and transforming one's life. Whether you're driven by a need for self-defence or a desire for personal growth, martial arts can be a powerful tool for change. As you listen to this episode, you'll not only gain insights into Eddie's martial arts philosophy but also discover the profound impact it has had on his life and the lives of many others. So, tune in to hear how Eddie Quinn turned a life-altering event into a legacy of resilience and empowerment. I went back to study because I saw that as my journey to financial independence and being able to aid my parents achieve a comfortable retirement. Now, I love being able to expand on that goal by reaching others and helping them, too. I was fortunate that after coming out of University, I came across National Capital. They have made financial advice, particularly relating to KiwiSaver, accessible to everyone and I find that very valuable. We have helped hundreds of people get on the right track for buying a first home or have a comfortable retirement and look forward to helping many, many more. In my spare time I still love to cook. I also garden, dance Bachata, Kizomba and train in Japanese Jiu Jitsu.” ____________________________________________ ►Ryan J Melton is an

Don’t know the answer, well I guess you will have to listen to this episode where Iski goes into great detail to explain the differences and how Japanese Jujutsu played a significant role in her life. She also mentions in the episode that when it comes to protecting yourself there’s no such thing as a cheap shot. Use whatever you have to protect yourself. I Want 2 Know, Kevin Davey!!! Boy did I get to know him. Kevin was born in England and emigrated to Canada. He is a local actor, best known for his roll as Patty Quinn in "Hell On Wheels". I will remember him most for his openness about his life. What a great guy. Kevin describes, in depth, how he lost his wife to a drunk driver. Describes the pain of the loss, raising children as a single dad and the challenges of getting back on the dating market. He describes his, now adult children, with the upmost pride as they conquer life after loss. I think I could have easily ran this podcast for 2 more hours as we discussed what its like to be on the set of a big budget TV show, the difference between Japanese Jiu Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and the difficulties with being an actor in Alberta.
