Another full weekend of racing is in the books even if it was a bit unconventional!I had the chance to work with Austin Griffis at Orlando Speedworld for the Hell On Wheels event put on by our friend at E&H Car Crushing. It ended up being a really fun time!On Sunday afternoon we had our annual New Smyrna Speedway Champions banquet and that ended up being a lot of fun as well even if it was not full of glitz and glamor! Eric: Not counting wrestling, Im saying honourable mentions would be from the 1990s my childhood that i go back and watch: Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Murder She Wrote, Columbo, Matlock, Spiderman Johnny Bravo, Criminal Minds, Law and Order, Living Out of your Car, Bored To Death, Burn Notice, How To Make It In America, Hell On Wheels, Breaking Bad, early Walking Dead, The Wire, Will and Grace, Quantum Leap, all of the Star Treks. Top 5: 5 - Bosh - Police procedural featuring Titus Welliver, I read the first four books in a row, currently heading on book five of like 35, once I finish another book i'm on. It's amazing. If you could literally pick anyone who captures Bosh, it's Titus Welliver. 4. Brooklyn Nine Nine - I've seen every episode twice, it's outstanding. Jake Peralta and Charles Boyle are hilarious. 3. Highlander from the 1990s, I remember watching it pre knowing about the films it was based on and thought for Canadian content it was great. 2. Celebrity Name Game - Craig Ferguson hosted this guessing game where Celebrities and fans would team up to try and win the fan some money. 1 Law and Order SVU - Easily the best police procedural of all time. Olivia Benson and her team have seen it all. Also shout out to Law and Order Organized Crime where they gave Stabler basically his own show so neither he or Benson can feel overshadowed. X: @E_Freeds IG: @NatteringWithE Brundan Honourable mentions: Oz, Simpsons, Entourage, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, Ren and Stempy. Top 5: 5 - Sopranos - Dug a lady, but dug the show more, saw one episode and was hooked. Most rewatches of any show I've seen. 4 - Futurama - When it first came out it was excellent. When it went to Adult Swim I was hooked on everything. Had my friends over to watch. Until it was brought back it had the best ending. 3- Letterkenney - Turned on to that during pandemic, blew through it, it's one of the most bingeable shows I've ever watched. Great ending, sad to see it end. Jared Keo as Wayne Shoresy, is fantastic. 2- Law and Order SVU - Watching it for 20 years, loved every episode, every character change, every story ark. Munch the best character, dark and sad but very good watch. 1- The Venture Brothers - My favourite show of all time, ran for 7 seasons 81 episodes, 4 specials, every single one of them was great. Drop subtle hints in the early seasons then pay off in later seasons. Brock Samson phenomenal character. Johnny Quest rip off originally then became it's own show. Favourite Episode: Jessie addicted to caffeine pills. 4 - Beverley Hills 90210 - Learnt things, great teen drama, storylines, Dylan McKay was my bad boy first crush. 3- American Horror Stories - 2021 series, spin off of American Horror Story, Daphney episode where it's like Alexa but a psycho version. A lot of good freaky horror gore stories. Always famous people, and Kim Kardashian 2- American Horror Story - Twisted episodes, messed up themes, one of my favourite seasons were season 1 murder house, coven, hotel with Lady Gaga, the season where they did 1984, very 80s murder based, season 9 was 1984. I love everything horror and gore. 1- Walking Dead - Religiously hooked from season 1 to season 9 or 10. Ordered in take out just to watch it. Discovered Norman Reedus aka Darryl Dixon. She will start with the same chemo she had last time (Oct '22- March '23). It's likely she'll also need radiation for the brain, but will do an MRI 4 weeks after chemo starts to know for sure & decide what's best… Health update video coming soon. Keep those prayers and good wishes coming. Diane starts chemo Monday 1/22.   On a Happy Note We had a great visit with my friend Laura who was here for New Year's. We struck a great balance of lazily watching tv (The Gilded Age & Slow Horses) and getting out and about. We also went to see Boys in the Boat the movie theater. My parents' annual open house the Saturday after Christmas. Mom gave the girls needle felting kits for Christmas; Millie Facetimed me several times with questions and showing me her progress! Getting sick has not been fun, but the fact that it didn't ruin my holidays and the fact that work is also still relatively quiet is a huge happy note. Dan has been taking great care of me, and we're rewatching Hell On Wheels. I spent Sunday of MLK weekend at my parents'. We played Wordle board game (Amazon affiliate link) with Mom, Riley, Millie and Aila. We visited my cousin Jenny's new house, got our nails done, went out for Mexican, played more games! Ohio teen Mackenzie Shirilla had been dating Dominic Russo for years and their relationship was described as tumultuous.  A friend overhead an argument between the two in July 2022 where Mackenzie threatened to crash the car she was driving, with both of them in it. A few weeks later, Mackenzie did exactly that.  Early one morning, after a night of partying, she crashed her vehicle into a wall at 100mph.  Dominic died along with a friend of the pair, Davion Flanagan.  Mackenzie was injured and taken to hospital, where she recovered. By October 2022, Mackenzie was well enough to dress up as a corpse for Halloween, despite just losing two of her closest friends. Mackenzie was eventually arrested and her case has just gone to court.  She was convicted and is currently serving a minimum of 15 years in prison.  Her family argue that the crash was an accident caused by a medical condition, but the judge did not believe that story.  In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the case of Mackenzie Shirilla. We also discuss creepy updates in the case of the BTK serial killer.  Police have released sketches done by Dennis Rader and have asked the public for help in identifying the people and locations in the drawings.  We discuss these developments in this episode. My former colleague at Warner Bros and creative executive, Michael Stradford joins the podcast to talk about three iconic films.   We start off with SHAFT (1971) and the impact that film had on him as a 10-year-old boy in Cleveland.  Then we discuss his first memories of watching ENTER THE DRAGON (1973) and his impressions of Bruce Lee. Record Label Employe…… Insurance Agent?? In 1980, during high school, I was swallowed up by punk rock in Southern California. That scene was a creative incubator where I developed my vision and passion. It started with photography and expanded from there. Later in the 1980's, I worked at several record labels (SST, CRUZ, Enigma, Cargo and even Capitol for 1 day). Throughout most of the Nineties I took a hiatus from photography – I moved to San Diego, had a book published (Hell On Wheels 1994) and was managing bands (Rocket From The Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, Big Drill Car, Supernova), then in 2001, it was over. I moved to Long Beach, CA, and got a straight job. Bored with my straight job, (yet maintaining it) I started photographing live music again. I started contributing my photos to a few magazines, record covers, websites and music videos. And, in 2020 I started working on a revised version of my book Hell On Wheels. Working on the book during the pandemic was a great distraction and I found that many of the musicians I was trying to connect with were available since the pandemic left them unable to tour. I'm very proud of this book and can't wait for others to read it. The fan-boy in me wants to list all of the bands right here and now ...But I guess I should wait until we are closer to the release date. There are 50 new bands and 54 new stories. The book will be released by University of Hell Press in the Spring of 2023. From the list of jobs above, I still consider myself active in all of them except “Record Label Employee” but who knows what the future may bring?
