La “Medaglia Miracolosa” fu coniata in seguito a quanto avvenne, nel 1830, in Francia, vicino Parigi, in rue du Bac. La Madonna apparve alla religiosa Caterina Labouré diverse volte, nella cappella della Casa Madre delle Figlie della Carità. Il 27 Novembre, in particolare, la santa vide la Vergine su un globo dorato. E poi, le apparvero tutti gli elementi che oggi vediamo rappresentati nella medaglietta miracolosa, che è una fedele riproduzione della visione. Cioè, le parole: “O Maria, concepita senza peccato, pregate per noi che ricorriamo a Voi” attorno all'aureola della Madonna. Ed una lettera “M” sovrastata da una croce e al di sotto della stessa i Sacri Cuori di Gesù e Maria. Il cardinale Comastri racconta alcuni aneddoti legati a questo oggetto, la cui devozione è molto diffusa. Madre Teresa di Calcutta era legatissima alla medaglia tanto da portarne sempre una scorta nelle tasche. Nel 1993, riporta Comastri, era vescovo di Massa Marittima e dovette subire un intervento al cuore. Madre Teresa lo rassicurò sul buon esito dell'intervento se si fosse raccomandato a Maria e avesse portato con sé la Medaglia Miracolosa.

Apriamo con la cronaca. Si trovava nel parcheggio di un supermercato, nelle prime ore del pomeriggio, quando ha chiamato i Carabinieri chiedendo di essere arrestato. Il fatto è accaduto a Grosseto e reso pubblico dai carabinieri nella giornata di ieri. L'uomo ha riferito poi il motivo della strana richiesta, ovvero doveva andare in carcere dopo aver ricevuto la notizia di essere stato condannato a 3 anni e 3 mesi di reclusione e voleva quindi affrontare l'esito giudiziario di un fatto che risale al 2013, per cui è giunta la condanna definitiva per reati di lesioni personali, violenza sessuale e atti sessuali con minore. L'uomo è stato prelevato dal parcheggio del supermercato e accompagnato al carcere di Massa Marittima.Adesso ci spostiamo a Orbetello dove un tifoso di calcio è finito nei guai. Durante l'incontro valido per i play-out tra le squadre dell'Orbetello e dell'Argentario i carabinieri hanno fermato un giovane che nello zaino portava vari artifizi pirotecnici e da segnalazione per il soccorso nautico, una bomboletta spray, una confezione contenente vari razzi e una batteria pirica con diversi colpi all'interno. Tutto il materiale è stato seque-strato, mentre a carico del giovane sono in corso accertamenti.Ora parliamo di spiagge, anzi della spiaggia più bella della Maremma. L'estate si avvicina e inizia il periodo caldo del turismo. Per questo dal primo giugno a Cala Violina, la spiaggia simbolo delle bellezze naturali della nostra costa, si potrà entrare solo su prenotazione. Il contributo per accedere sarà di un euro tranne i bambini che non pagano. Ogni giorno potranno entrare fino a 700 persone. Apriamo la puntata di oggi con una notizia di sanità: è stato registra-to il primo caso di vaiolo delle scimmie anche in Toscana. La malattia è stata riscontrata in un uomo 32 anni di Arezzo, che nei giorni scorsi era rientrato da una vacanza alle isole Canarie. Il paziente è ricoverato nel reparto di Malattie Infettive dell'ospedale San Donato.
L'Asl ha fatto sapere che l'uomo è rientrato in Italia il 15 maggio scorso che ha presentato rapidamente i sintomi della malattia e cinque giorni dopo si è fatto visitare dal proprio medico che lo ha indirizzato agli ambulatori di malattie infettive dove è stato immediatamente preso in carico.Adesso la cronaca: La Maremma, a quanto emerge dai recenti controlli da parte dei carabinieri, pare una meta ambita per i consumatori di stupefacenti. Sono infatti numerose le denunce emesse per possesso di droga negli ultimi giorni sul territorio provinciale. Uno di questi riguarda quattro giovani provenienti dalla provincia di Viterbo, che sono stati controllati dai carabinieri a bordo della propria auto. Dopo aver spiegato di essere in zona per passare i primi giorni di vacanza, sono stati trovati in possesso di varie dosi di cocaina: una volta scoperti, hanno ammesso di essere venuti in zona per acquistare, dirigendosi infatti in una zona boschiva nei pressi di Capalbio.Adesso ci spostiamo a Massa Marittima, dove, dopo due anni stop a causa della pandemia, si è svolto il Balestro del Girifalco. Da giorni tutta la cit-tà era in fermento per questo fine settimana di festa con tante bandiere che sventolavano nel centro cittadino e dai balconi delle case. BERNARDINE OF SIENA l PATRON OF THE ADVERTISING, COMMUNICATIONS, AND IS INVOKED TO HEAL RESPIRATORY ILLNESSES Feast Day: May 20 Our saint today, St. Bernardine of Siena is referred to as the “Apostle of Italy” for his efforts to revive the country's Catholic faith in the 15thcentury. He was an ardent devotee of the Most Holy Name of Jesus and to fight some heretics, he popularized the symbol IHS – the first three letters of the name of Jesus in Greek. This Christogram had several interpretations, but the most appealing was Jesus Hominum Salvator (Jesus Savior of Men) which has become popularly used in sacred vessels and vestments in Catholic churches. Bernardine was born on September 8, 1380 to a noble family in Massa Marittima, Tuscany, Italy. He was orphaned at six years of age and was raised up by a pious aunt. He studied civil and canon law. When in 1400 the plague invaded Siena, he, with ten companions took charge of a hospital at Santa Maria della Scala for four months to take care of the sick. He escaped the plague but was so exhausted that he was confined in bed for some months. In 1403, Bernardine joined the Order of Friars Minor and was ordained a priest the following year. In 1406, St. Vincent Ferrer, a Dominica, left him the task to preach and evangelize Italy. As a preacher, he had a hoarse voice, but he talked directly to his audience. His themes were taken from the ordinary lives of people, taking topics of immediate interest and in the context of the situation of the 15th century. He used a simple, familiar style and drew many to listen to him. For more than 30 years he preached in Italy and was attributed to have played a great part in the revival of the faith of the Italians. He travelled on foot from place to place and at times they had to put a pulpit on market places so that his hearers who were in standing room could see him. His sermons lasted for three hours. He preached against luxury and immodest in dresses, against gambling, usury, blasphemy, witchcraft, infanticide, indecent conversations, sodomy, homosexuality, and other useful topics. He justified the ownership of private property, the ethics of trade, and just wage. Fr. Bernardine was particular about how women should behave and guard their purity. He encouraged women to make Mary, the mother of God, as their model. “Bonfires of Vanities” were held during his sermons where people threw to be burned mirrors, high-heeled shoes, false hairs, dice, chessmen and other frivolities used by women. He enjoined the people to observe the Commandments of God. He, naturally met oppositions. In Aquila, while giving a sermon, someone sawed the legs of his pulpit which caused him to fall into the crowd. But generally, he was a remarkably successful preacher for he influenced the people to change for the better. One of his peculiar sermons was his anti-semitic stance connected with his sermon against usury, which was the practice of many Jews. He called for the Jews to be banished from Italy, because, according to him, they were the cause of the poverty of the Christians. As a result, in some places, the Jews were segregated. This left a resentment on the part of the Jews, Fr. Bernardine shun honor and fame. In 1426, he was offered the bishopric of Siena but declined the offer. In 1431, he declined the bishopric of Ferrara and in 1435, the bishopric of Urbino. Those who opposed him accused him of heresy but he was found innocent. In 1438, he became Vicar General of his Order. He reformed many convents of the Friars Minor and sent many missionaries to Asia. “St. Bernardine, in the name of Jesus, we implore you to cure those who are suffering from respiratory illnesses and ailments of the lungs. Amen.”

Bernardine was born of the noble Sienese family Albizeschi at Massa Marittima, where his father was governor. Orphaned at the age of six, he was raised by aunts. At school in Siena, he was outstanding for his intelligence, his goodness, and his popularity. At the age of 17, he began a life of service to the poor, and quiet spirituality. Four years later, he joined the Franciscans, and became active in the reform group of the Order. Ordained in 1404, he led a hidden life for 12 years, and then began a career of itinerant preaching. San Bernardino nació en la Massa Marittima de Toscana y perteneció a la noble familia de los Albizeshi. Quedó huérfano de padre y madre antes de cumplir los 7 años. A los 17, ingresó en una cofradía de Nuestra Señora, cuyos miembros se comprometían a practicar ejercicios de piedad y cuidar a los enfermos. En Siena tomó el hábito franciscano y en 1403 hizo sus votos en el convento de Colombaio, en las afueras de la ciudad. Un año más tarde, el día de la Natividad de la Virgen, recibió la ordenación sacerdotal. Poco a poco Dios le preperaba para su doble misión de apóstol y reformador. El Santo llegó a Milán en 1417, donde inició su carrera apostólica. Predicó en toda Italia, viajaba a pie y aconsejaba la penitencia a los que le oían, además de propagar la devoción al Santo Nombre de Jesús. En 1430, San Bernardino tuvo que dejar el trabajo misional, al ser nombrado vicario general de los frailes de la estricta observancia.Este movimiento de la Orden de San Francisco había comenzado a mediados del siglo XIV en el convento de Brogliano, entre Camerino y Asís, pero no logró imponerse hasta la época de San Bernardino, quien fue su segundo fundador, organizador y reformador. San Bernardino añoraba el trabajo apostólico directo, por lo que en 1442 obtuvo del Papa la autorización de renunciar al cargo de vicario general. Hizo misiones en Romaña, Ferrara y Lombardía. Murió en Aquila, el 20 de mayo de 1444, víspera de la Ascensión. Fue canonizado 6 años después de su muerte.
