“We are ready and prepared to be imprisoned. We are not afraid of being imprisoned. But we are afraid of losing the fear of the Lord.” —House Church leaders in China Bob Fu, founder, and president of ChinaAid, is regularly in contact with Christians all over China. He says that, in an era of harsh government restrictions and a complete lack of religious freedom, churches are still being planted and leaders continue to baptize new believers in China. Author of God's Double Agent, Bob sheds light China's new “patriotic education” law instigated earlier this year by Xi Jinping and the Communist Party – including its mandate for Chinese living overseas. He will also discuss protests that broke out across Chinese universities early in 2023 as young people displayed their discontent with the government. Communist Party leaders continue to sweep their Christian persecution under the rug, categorizing the arrest of pastors and Christians as “illegal business activity” or financial fraud rather than violating religious regulations. As the government continues its tight reign over technology, they have removed Bible apps to eliminate access to God's Word. In spite of these efforts, ministries including The Voice of the Martyrs continue to deliver Bibles into the hands of Chinese believers. Listen as Bob shares updates on Pastor Wang Yi, serving a 9-year prison sentence, and Pastor Pan, who recently moved to America with his Mayflower Church congregation. Bob will also share a letter from Pastor John Cao, serving a 7-year sentence in prison, in which he writes, “Please rejoice for me. Jesus has died on the cross for me. It is my utter joy to be imprisoned for my Lord.” As you pray for Chinese Christians like Pastor Wang Yi, John Cao, and others who are imprisoned, ask the Lord to sustain them through the Holy Spirit. Pray for their persecutors to find hope in Jesus. As they go through intense persecution, pray they would continue to fear the Lord above everything.

Join this week as we continue to look back on some of the most moving moments of 2023 on The Voice of the Martyrs Radio: Brother Maksud became a Christian as a young man but was afraid to tell his parents. He expected his father might disown him but was shocked at his father's response. Pastor Hanna remembers when he learned that a member of his church, Rami Ayyad, had been martyred. He says our faith won't be tested when everything is going fine, but in difficult times. After Sister Jane's husband was martyred in the Middle East, she prayed God would raise him from the dead. God didn't answer that prayer—but used the sacrifice to build his Kingdom. Susanne Geske suddenly received public attention after her husband was murdered in Turkey. She used the opportunity to echo Christ's words from the cross: “Father, forgive them.” Soon after Ronnie Smith was killed in Libya, his widow, Anita, had an opportunity to express God's forgiveness to his killers–in English and Arabic. (This interview with Anita was recorded as part of the Hearts of Fire Virtual Event. You can view the event—featuring four women who have suffered for their faith—online now for free.) When their parents were martyred serving the Lord in Uganda, Saul and Ezra Pett were angry with God. But in the years since God has brought healing and now the brothers are ministering in the very place where their parents were killed. As a young man, Brother Mansour made plans to burn down a church. Instead, he became a Christian trying to share God's Word with Iranians all over the world. Dr. Hormoz Shariat shares the story of a taxi driver in Iran who Jesus healed from cancer; today he shares his testimony with every passenger that gets into his taxi. John Samara shared a prayer request for his co-worker who'd been kidnapped by terrorists in the Middle East. God answered those prayers before his episode was aired on VOM Radio. Susi Childers told us the story of meeting Nigerian widows learning to forgive and pray for their persecutors. Listen to how Susi shared God's love for these women through jewelry. Brother Enfu told us how church leaders are still being trained in China, in spite of Communist Party restrictions, and gives us a specific way to pray. When VOM met Pastor Pan and members of the Mayflower Church, they had fled China and were seeking asylum in Thailand. Following the broadcast of that episode, church members were granted entry to the US. After hearing brief excerpts of these powerful interviews, you'll want to go back and listen to the entire conversations! It's Friday, December 22nd, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com) Texas Christians purchase 7 new cars for Chinese Christian refugees Christmas cheer and an outpouring of love by Christians in Texas continue to bless the Shenzen Holy Reformed Church (also known as the Mayflower Church), reports International Christian Concern. The 63 church members left China three years ago and traveled through South Korea, Thailand, and to eventual freedom in the United States to escape persecution in China. The Mayflower families have been staying in Tyler, Texas for the last several months where they began new jobs, settled their families, and took English classes. They now head to their permanent home in Midland, Texas, around the Christmas holiday. Amazingly, the Tyler Christian community bought seven new vehicles for the Mayflower families to help on their journey. The Mayflower Church members marvel at this generosity. Other ministries which have supported their cause include China Aid, Freedom Seekers, and International Christian Concern. Prague University student killed 14, injured 25 On Thursday, a student opened fire at a university in Prague, killing at least 14 people, and injuring 25 in the Czech Republic's worst mass shooting, reports the Associated Press.  Prague Police Chief Martin Vondrasek said the bloodshed took place in the philosophy department building of Charles University where the shooter was a student. The gunman, whose name has not been released, also died. Reportedly, he also killed his father earlier in the day. The chief described the shooter as an excellent student with no criminal record. And the investigators do not suspect a link to any extremist ideology or groups. The gunman suffered “devastating injuries” but it wasn't clear if he killed himself or was shot to death in an exchange of gunfire with officers. Republican Congressman discusses depravity and blackmail Republican Congressman Tim Burchett of Tennessee spoke to conservative podcaster Benny Johnson on Thursday and talked about blackmail and depravity in the U.S. Congress, reports Mediaite.com. Burchett and Johnson primarily spoke about why it took so long for the client list of notorious sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein to be ordered unsealed by a federal judge. However, at one point, Burchett claimed that many “good conservatives” and other members of Congress are being entrapped and then blackmailed to vote certain ways. Listen. BURCHETT: “Why in the world would good conservatives vote for crazy stuff like what we've been seeing out of Congress? Here's how it works.  You're out of the country or out of town or you're in a motel or at a bar in DC and, whatever you're into – women or men or whatever — comes up and they're very attractive and they're laughing at your jokes, and you're buying them a drink. Next thing you know, you're in the motel room with them naked. “Next thing you know, you're about to make a key vote, and what happens? Some well-dressed person comes up and whispers in your ear, ‘Hey, man, there's tapes out on you.' Or ‘Were you in a motel room on whatever with whoever?' And then you're like, ‘Uh-oh,' and [they] said, ‘you really ought not be voting for this thing.' “What do they do? It's human nature. No man or no woman actually is an island. They know what to get at. You know, if it's women, drugs, booze, it'll find you in D.C. and in most elected offices. I've been in this game my whole life. I spent 16 years in the state legislature in Tennessee and eight years as county mayor. And now I'm in my fifth year of Congress. The stakes are higher, but the game is still the same.” Numbers 32:23 says, “Be sure your sin will find you out.” New York Democrats targeting Chick-fil-A New York Democrat lawmakers are targeting Chick-fil-A, which is closed on Sundays, with legislation that mandates restaurants located in rest stops on the state Thruway to remain open seven days a week, reports NewsMax.com. Democrat Assemblyman Tony Simone of Manhattan, who is sponsoring the anti-Chick-fil-A bill, said, "Not only does Chick-fil-A have a long, shameful history of opposing LGBTQ rights, it simply makes no sense for them to be a provider of food services in busy travel plazas. A company, that by policy, is closed on one of the busiest travel days of the week should not be the company that travelers have to rely on for food services." Chick-fil-A has had a company policy since first opening in 1946 that the restaurants would be closed on Sundays to allow operators and team members "to enjoy a day of rest, be with their families and loved ones, and worship if they choose." If you would like to politely object to Assemblyman Simone's bill, call him at 212-807-7900 or email him at simonet@nyassembly.gov Tony Evans got re-married And finally, Tony Evans, pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas, recently married Carla Crummie in a “private ceremony surrounded by family and close friends” four years after the death of his first wife, Lois Evans, reports The Christian Post. In a social media post, the church said, “As we enter the celebratory Christmas season, we also celebrate the marriage announcement of our senior Pastor and his bride, Mrs. Carla Evans.”  Proverbs 18:22 says, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.” The senior pastor had revealed he was engaged to Crummie during a celebration service for his birthday at his church in September. Flanked by his four children -- Priscilla Shirer, Jonathan Evans, Anthony Evans Jr. and Crystal Evans Hurst, this is what Tony Evans said to the church in September. EVANS: “As I worked through the ups and downs of singlehood, God in His sovereignty has brought someone into my life. (applause) This someone has traveled this similar road. In fact, she, [Carla Crummie], and her husband were on their way to Lois' funeral when her husband died.” Tony Evans had been married to Lois for 49 years before she died of bile duct cancer at the end of 2019. In a 2020 interview with The Christian Post, he said in addition to “helping me through school, mothering our four children, and leading them to the Lord,” his late wife assisted him both in starting their church and The Urban Alternative, a media ministry whose radio broadcasts are today heard by millions each week on more than 1,400 radio outlets across 130 countries. In prison with other church members, the pastor initiated worship services and led other prisoners to Christ. Learn how dedicated Christians from the United States were willing to take funds overseas to meet the demands for the release of the prisoners.   Thousands of Christians in the United States fervently prayed for these believers imprisoned in Thailand. God continued to intervene and miraculously no cash was needed for their release! The United States government personnel escorted these persecuted Christians to the airplane headed for the USA. These believers experienced true freedom in more ways than one.   Thank you for praying for persecuted Christians around the globe.

It's Monday, July 17th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus.  (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Mayflower Chinese Pastor: U.S. must pressure China on religious liberty A pastor who led a congregation of 64 Chinese Christians from religious persecution in China thanked God for bringing them to freedom in the United States. However, he also warned that many faithful heroes still face oppression from the Chinese Communist Party, reports The Christian Post. Pastor Pan Yongguang of the Mayflower Church, whose members fled to South Korea in 2019 after encountering threats and interrogations from Chinese police, spoke outside the U.S. Capitol Wednesday alongside ChinaAid Founder Bob Fu. The Mayflower Church gained its name after its members arrived at South Korea's Jeju Island seeking religious freedom, similar to the 17th-century Protestant separatists who traveled to the British colonies. They later traveled to Bangkok, Thailand, hoping to get refugee status from the United Nations, but were detained in an immigration detention center. Four years after fleeing the Chinese Communist Party, Pan and 63 members of the church received humanitarian parole in the United States. In April, they arrived in Dallas, Texas, after concentrated efforts from Fu and multiple government officials and agencies to negotiate their release.  Pastor Pan believes the U.S. government should put "pressure" on the persecutors in China. Micah 6:8 asks, “What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Benjamin Netanyahu rushed to hospital On Saturday, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu was rushed to a hospital to undergo medical tests. Netanyahu, age 73, was briefly hospitalized in October, after feeling pain in his chest in the weeks before last year's election. Tucker Carlson vs. Mike Pence Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson clashed with former Vice President Mike Pence at  The Family Leadership Summit in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday. Listen. CARLSON: “I'm sorry, Mr. Vice President, have you, I know you're running for president. You are …” PENCE: “Thank you. Thank you for noticing.” CARLSON: “You are distressed that the Ukrainians don't have enough American tanks. Every city in the United States has become much worse over the past three years.” PENCE: “Yeah.” CARLSON: “Drive around. There's not one city that's gotten better in the United States. And it's visible. Our economy has degraded, the suicide rate has jumped, public filth and disorder and crime have exponentially increased. And yet, your concern is that the Ukrainians, a country most people can't find on a map, who've received tens of billions of US tax dollars don't have enough tanks. I think it's a fair question to ask like, ‘Where's the concern for the United States in that?'” PENCE: “Well, it's not my concern. Tucker, I've heard that routine from you before, but that's not my concern. I'm running for President of the United States because I think this country's in a lot of trouble. I think Joe Biden has weakened America at home and abroad. “And as President of the United States, we're going to restore law and order in our cities. We're going to secure our border. We're going to get this economy moving again. And we're going to make sure that we have men and women on our courts at every level that will stand for the right to life and defend all the God-given liberties enshrined in our Constitution. Anybody that says that we can't be the leader of the free world and solve our problems at home has a pretty small view of the greatest nation on Earth. We can do both.” Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: Fauci caused injury by withholding early COVID treatment Appearing on Fox News with Jesse Watters, Democrat presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. chastised Dr. Anthony Fauci for withholding effective treatments for the coronavirus that led to a disproportionate number of deaths in America compared to countries which equipped their citizens with preventive measures. WATTERS: “Tell me about Fauci. You wrote this big fat book – [Real Anthony Fauci]. You think Fauci is the Devil.” KENNEDY:  “I think [Fauci] caused a lot of injury by withholding early treatment from Americans. We racked up the highest death count in the world. We only have 4.2% of the globe's population, but we had 16% of the COVID deaths in this country. And that was from bad policy. “There's countries that did the opposite of what we did -- that provided ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, other early treatments to their populations, and had 1/200 of our death rate! Oh, there are many, many things that we did wrong in this country. And some of those were knowingly. Some of the things that were done by public health officials at that time, they knew that they would be harmful!” Kennedy also addressed why America has not held China accountable for creating the coronavirus in the Wuhan lab. WATTERS:  “Why hasn't the Biden administration punished China?” KENNEDY: “I think one of the reasons we haven't investigated the [Chinese] Wuhan Lab is because the U.S. government, not just through the NIH [National Institutes of Health], but through the CIA, and through USAID [United States Agency for International Development], was actually funding the studies in the Wuhan Lab. And we did a very, very big technology transfer of bio weapons technology to the Wuhan lab, bio weapons technology that was developed at NIH expense.”   Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. noted that the National Institutes of Health gave $26 million in funding to the Wuhan lab. And the United States Agency for International Development, which was functioning as a CIA surrogate, gave over $64 million. Plus, the Pentagon also gave a lot of money. Numbers 32:33 warns, “Your sin will find you out.” 13-year-old Callie's gift of her tithe money to The Worldview On Friday, I featured soundbites from my conversation with 14-year-old Theo Jantz, a Worldview listener in Sexsmith, Alberta, Canada, who donated $13.13 to keep this newscast on the air.  He challenged other kids to donate some of their tithe money as well. Callie Mishchenko, a 13-year-old listener in Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada, accepted that challenge and donated $32. CALLIE: “Theo challenged to empty your tithing [jar] to The Worldview. So, that's what I did.” She explained where the $32 came from. CALLIE: “The $32 is from me doing jobs around the house and I put 10% of it into tithing.” McMANUS: “What are the jobs around the house?” CALLIE: “Helping watch some of my siblings, scoop and poop, weeding.” McMANUS: “Scoop and poop? This is a new one. Is that for the dog, the cat, the cow, the horse? What do we have out there? The other siblings? Are the siblings going in the yard?” CALLIE: “No, scooping the poop is for the dogs. Scooping the dogs' poop.” McMANUS: “How many dogs do you have? CALLIE: “Two. Two dogs.” McMANUS: “What is it?” CALLIE: “Scoop and poop.” McMANUS: “Scoop and poop? It makes more sense to say ‘poop and scoop' because the poop happens first. Then, the scoop happens second. You can't scoop until they poop. So, you really need to say, ‘Poop and scoop.' Why do y'all have it backwards there in Canada?” CALLIE: “I don't know.” On a more serious note, I asked Callie's father, Dan, what he appreciated about The Worldview newscast. DAN: “You're one of the regular sources where I get to hear about the persecuted church. Although it breaks my heart, we need to know as Christians who are isolated here in North America. I really appreciate that.” 29 Worldview listeners gave $6,336.40 We broke our one-day, 25-donor record this year.  Incredibly, 29 Worldview listeners donated toward our $80,000 goal by Monday, July 31st to keep this unique Christian newscast on the air. We thank God for Callee in Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada who gave $32 as well as Herb in Greenville, Texas and David in Colorado Springs, Colorado – both of whom gave $50, and Eben in Kansas City, Missouri who gave $75. We were touched by the kindness of Max in Cordova, Illinois, Sally in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, Michelle in Sparta, Michigan, Summer in Calvert City, Kentucky, and George in Leesburg, Virginia – each of whom gave $100 as well as Paul in Keller, Texas who pledged $10/month for 12 months for a total gift of $120. Three cheers for Kathryn in Apple Valley, California who gave $162.60, Tristan in Summerdale, Alabama who gave $170, Richard in Ooltewah, Tennessee who gave $250, and Rick in Elma, Washington who gave $300. Kudos to Lucinda in Winfield, Missouri, Mary in Phoenix, Arizona, Adrian in Black Creek, British Columbia, Canada, Richard in Camden, Wyoming, and Carlee in Keswick Ridge, New Brunswick, Canada – each of whom pledged $25/month for 12 months for a total gift of $300 each. And we ‘re grateful for the generosity of Tim in Newton, Kansas who gave $500, Benton in Kingwood, Texas and Casey in Apple Valley, California – both of whom pledged $50/month for 12 months for a total gift of $600 each, and Roger in Rapid City, South Dakota who gave $1,300. Those 29 new donations add up to $6,336.40. Ready for our new grand total? Drum roll please. (Drum roll sound effect) $26,293.41 (Crowd cheering sound effect) In order to hit our $60,000 immediate goal by this Friday, July 21st, we need to raise $33,706.59. Remember how I announced on Friday that I had a special update about this month-long fundraiser?  Well, here's the exciting news!  Shannan in Alexandria, Minnesota is offering to match, dollar for dollar, the next 10 Worldview listeners who pledge $50/month for 12 months or give a one-time gift of $600.  Thanks to Shannan's match, your total annual gift will be $1,200 instead of $600. That's an amazingly generous offer!  When 10 people make that pledge, we will have raised $12,000. So, if you have been waiting on the sidelines, and you have the financial ability to step up to the plate with a $50 monthly pledge, please do so today. That would leave us with $21,706.09 to raise by this Friday. Then, we would need to find another 18 people to pledge $50/month for 12 months.  And another 32 listeners to pledge $25/month for 12 months. With multiple thousands of listeners on multiple platforms, we know that God can indeed provide these funds. Just go to TheWorldview.com and click on “Give” at the top right to give what the Lord is prompting you to donate.  Make sure to select the “Recurring” tab if that's your wish. Despite the chaos of the raid, Jeanette continued relying on the sovereignty and goodness of God, reminding herself often that He is trustworthy no matter our circumstances. She prayed fervently for Richard as he was taken away by the police. Richard experienced God's sovereignty and the Holy Spirit at work as he sat in the police station interrogation room, living in the truth of Luke 12:11-12. In spite of police threats, Richard relied on scripture God brought to his mind and four things he knew he had to stand firm in as he tried to answer the police accusations. Listen also for how Chinese Christians supported Richard and Jeanette during their ordeal, including a local church pastor who knocked on their door and offered a bold prayer for Richard. Their local Christian community brought Jeanette great comfort, providing practical proof that the Lord was with them. Pray persecuted Chinese Christians will stand firm in faith and be encouraged by the Body of Christ. One group of Chinese Christians, the Mayflower Church, made the decision as a congregation to flee their homeland. Pastor Pan, leader of the group, was our guest on VOM Radio last month. It's Monday, April 10th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. By Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com) Chinese Mayflower Church landed in America Ready for some wonderful Easter Monday news? On April 4th, The Worldview reported that members of an underground Chinese church, dubbed The Mayflower Church since they have sought religious freedom in South Korea and Thailand, were fearful they were set to be sent back to their hostile homeland. Like the Pilgrims, these 63 Chinese believers left everything behind in search of a place to freely live their faith.  Now, after their 3-year quest for asylum, they arrived in America on Good Friday, thanks to the prayers of Christians worldwide and the financial help of Christian Freedom International, reports The Christian Post. It was a good Friday indeed! Communist Chinese disciple children to reject God Since 2018, China has escalated its crackdown on Christians. Pastors are arrested, sometimes in the middle of services. One pastor was sentenced to five years for trying to print “illegal publications” – meaning the Bible. And Bible texts are reinterpreted to fit Chinese communist propaganda, explains Christian Freedom International. Capturing the hearts and minds of Chinese youth is essential to the communists' plan. Children are banned from attending church. Parents are banned from teaching religion to their children. China's Compulsory Education Law makes homeschooling or private unregistered schools illegal. When Christians in an impoverished region were told to replace pictures of Jesus with posters of Xi Jinping, a Communist Party chairman said, “They think God is their savior. After our cadres' (APPLE CA-dree) work, they'll realize their mistakes and think, ‘We should no longer rely on Jesus, but on the party for help.'” In Exodus 20:2-3, Moses recorded these words. “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.  ‘You shall have no other gods before Me.'” Court banned Abortion Kill Pill On April 7th, a federal judge issued a ruling that will stop the sales of abortion drugs nationwide and possibly save hundreds of thousands or even millions of babies from abortions, reports LifeNews.com. The abortion drug mifepristone is used for more than half of all abortions in the U.S. every year, according to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute. The FDA has linked mifepristone to at least 28 women's deaths and 4,000 serious complications.   Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk of the Northern District of Texas in Amarillo, a Trump appointee, issued a ruling blocking approval of the dangerous abortion pill. In the case of Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA, he halted Food and Drug Administration approval of the chemical abortion drug mifepristone.  On page 45 of his ruling, he noted that one study revealed the overall incidence of adverse events is “fourfold higher” in chemical abortions when compared to surgical abortions. Women who underwent chemical abortions also experienced far higher rates of hemorrhaging, incomplete abortion, and unplanned surgical evacuation. Plus, the Texas judge ruled that the FDA cannot allow chemical abortion to be prescribed via telemedicine or without an in-person doctor's visit. The Court provides seven days before this order will go into effect to allow the federal government time to appeal to the Fifth Circuit.  Not surprisingly, the Biden Administration filed its notice of appeal the same day. However, just two hours after Kacsmaryk issued his order, Spokane, Washington-based Judge Thomas Rice, an Obama appointee, issued a conflicting Order, reports LifeSiteNews.com. He required the Abortion Kill Pill to remain on the market in the states of Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Vermont, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Michigan and the District of Columbia. Veterans Administration removed cross from Austin clinic Just 19 minutes after the atheist Military Religious Freedom Foundation complained about the presence of a cross at an Austin, Texas Veterans Administration clinic, the Department of Veterans Affairs caved on March 20th, and took the cross down, reports the Washington Times. The metal cross, which incorporated emblems of the military branches, had been affixed to a column in the clinic lobby. It bore the emblems of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard, along with the image of a bugler and the words, “Remember Our Veterans.” The God-hating group said the cross violated the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment, agency regulations and Defense Department rules on the use of the emblems. In a letter to Michael Kiefer, director of the regional Veterans Administration unit, Mikey Weinstein, the agnostic founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, called the cross a “nonsecular display of Christian triumphalism and supremacy.” He claimed the cross caused distress to 19 veterans who “feared just the most horrible type of revenge and retribution” if they had complained directly. Christians must be open to transgender procedures or they can't adopt And finally, the state of Oregon refused to allow a Christian mother of five to adopt two children after she said her religion would not let her take a young minor to receive cross-hormone injections, reports The Daily Signal. Indeed, the Oregon law would prohibit 78% of Americans from adopting children. Jessica Bates has sued five Oregon state employees for adoption guidelines that effectively say, “Conservative Christians need not apply,” according to her legal brief. Oregon state law requires all would-be adoptive parents to “respect, accept and support” the adoptee's professed “sexual orientation, gender identity, [and] gender expression.” Bates said mandatory classes in the state's adoption application process said this included using a child's preferred pronouns, presenting homosexual relationships in a positive light, and taking children who want to pretend to be the opposite sex to get disfiguring transgender procedures. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train children in the way they should go; when they grow old, they won't depart from it.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Monday, April 10th in the year of our Lord 2023. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. It's Tuesday, April 4th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus.  (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson The persecuted “Mayflower Church” of China They call themselves the Mayflower Church.  First, members of Shenzhen Holy Reformed Church in China left their homeland in 2019.  Then, they tried unsuccessfully to get asylum in South Korea. And now, as of March 30th, they have been stymied in Thailand, reports ChinaAid. Evidently, China is putting pressure on Thailand to return the 63 members of the church to the communist country. Christianity Today reported that the congregation noticed one member acting strangely last week.  He admitted that he had compromised the group's location with China's state security.  He was subsequently escorted away by Chinese operatives, without his wife and daughter, and has not been seen since. The rest of the group is presently under arrest in a police station near Bangkok.   Mongolian Christians imprisoned for selling Bibles Nine Christians have been in prison in Inner Mongolia for almost two years now on charges of selling Bibles, reports Bitter Winter Magazine. Their trial will take place in April. A 66-year-old woman, named Wong Honglan, is facing a 15-year prison sentence. She's been a Christian for 42 years. According to China Aid, these church members have “held a morning prayer meeting every day at 6:00am. The morning prayer meeting never stopped for a single day, regardless of any weather conditions.” Tornadoes kill 32 people across 8 states In the providence of God, dozens of violent tornadoes have resulted in at least 32 fatalities over the weekend in Tennessee, Arkansas, Illinois, Delaware, Indiana, Alabama, and Mississippi, reports ABC News. This is in addition to the 26 people killed in the Mississippi and Alabama tornadoes just 10 days ago. So far, there have been 63 deaths caused by tornadoes in the U.S. this year. That compares to a total of 23 deaths for all of 2022, 103 deaths in 2021, and 76 deaths in 2020.  Trump to be arraigned in New York court today The former president of the United States, Donald Trump, is expected to be arraigned in a Manhattan New York courtroom this morning, on 34 felony charges, reports The Independent. Trump flew into New York from Florida yesterday.  What may be most troubling for Trump is the threat of a gag order following the first hearing. The Daily Mail claimed sources that have revealed the judge in the case might place a gag order as part of the trial proceedings.  If Trump breaks an imposed gag order, he risks a $1,000 fine and as much as 30 days in prison under New York law.   The charges in the case relate to alleged payoffs made to a Proverbs 7-type woman. On Monday, the former president noted on Truth Social that “The Corrupt D.A. has no case. What he does have is a venue where it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to get a Fair Trial … [with] a Trump-Hating Judge, hand selected by the Soros-backed D.A.” 76% of Americans think Trump charges are political A recent CNN poll found that 76% of Americans believe the charges are politically-motivated while still 60% approve of the indictments.  However, Trump has only increased in popularity among Republican voters of late.  Now, a Yahoo News/YouGov Survey found that Trump was leading Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis by 26 percentage points (57% to 31%). That's quite an improvement from two weeks ago when he was only leading by 8 percentage points.  And, back in February, he trailed the Florida governor 45% to 41%. But let us keep in mind the wise counsel of Psalm 75:7and 8.  “God is the Judge: He puts down one, and exalts another.  For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup, and the wine is red. It is fully mixed, and He pours it out; Surely, the wicked of the earth will drink it down to its very dregs.” 6-year-old shoots teacher Violence in the classrooms has spread to 6-year-olds now.   A 6-year-old child deliberately shot his teacher in the chest at an elementary school in Newport News, Virginia a month ago. And now, the teacher, Abby Zwerner, will be suing the school administration for $40 million, reports the Associated Press. "His Only Son" Biblical film took third place And finally, a just-released Biblical film tells the dramatized story of Abraham's faith test when called to sacrifice his son to God on Mount Moriah. The movie called “His Only Son” came in at third place on the U.S. Box Office reports over the weekend, taking in $5.5 million.  Watch the trailer through a special link in our transcript today. The other Christian movie on the silver screen, “Jesus Revolution,” held out at 10th place over the weekend, having taken in $51 million in box office receipts, reports BoxOfficeMojo. Let's remember today, that God gave His Son for us, as a sacrifice for our sins. John 3:16 declares, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Tuesday, April 4th in the year of our Lord 2023. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Just before Covid shut down the Peoples Republic of China, Pastor Pan Yongguang and members of his congregation, known today as the Mayflower Church, made the difficult decision to leave their country. After 16 families from the congregation arrived in South Korea in 2019, relatives and other family members still in China faced increasing pressure from the communist government, especially when members of the church went public about the persecution they'd faced and their decision to leave China. Listen as Pastor Pan shares about his life before he became and believer, how he came to faith in Christ, and how the Lord raised him up to be the pastor of the church he was baptized in. Before Pastor Pan considered personally following Christ, he knew people in China must pay a price for being a Christian. He says, “That's a special part of Chinese Christians. They know they have to pay a price.” The roots of the decision to leave China trace back to a day in 2018 when Pastor Pan had lunch with Pastor Wang Yi, who is now serving a nine-year sentence as a prisoner for Christ. Christian persecution was rising in China. Wang Yi knew he faced imprisonment for his faith; he challenged Pastor Pan to prepare himself to go to prison as well. Pan will share about the regular visits he received from police after Wang Yi's arrest. Pastor Pan and his church members had a decision to make. Should they leave China, or should they stay? Many had good jobs in China, but they worried about raising their children in Godly truth amidst communist pressure and indoctrination. After a year of discussions, knowing each Sunday could be their last one together, they felt unified in the decision to leave China. Today, Pastor Pan and the Mayflower church are educating their children to follow Christ as they wait to receive refugee status from the United Nations and resettlement in a free nation. Pray for favor for them in the UN refugee application process. Pray also for family members still in China, who constantly face threats and intimidation.
