Judge Hannah Dugan's arrest - a story Dan broke on his radio show is making national news today. Why does the left support the criminal element of society? Jessica and Jim from Wisconsin Right Now discuss Froedtert and the Milwaukee Police.
Stock market experts and loyalists to The Felon President were ecstatic about yesterday's huge rebounds in the market due to Trump pulling back almost all the tariffs he proposed, which was due in part to the bond market. But that was yesterday, today, during the show, we witnessed fluctuations leading the Dow Jones to tumble 2000 points (at the time of this posting, the loss is over 1800 points), but don't worry, it's only money, so stop whining. We also take a look at a disgraced former Milwaukee Police officer who is a part of the mass deportation effort. Then, Jim Santelle, host of Amicus: A Law Review is here to talk about free press getting their day, Federally funded SLAPP suits, our Federal Judges holding onto the guardrails and the reiteration of due process for all under The US Constitution. Send us a textGood evening everyone. It's evening as I record this special solo episode of the Cops and Writers Podcast. Why do a solo episode? Good Question. I have been super busy taking care of my wife who had a total knee replacement surgery a couple of days ago. She's a tough cookie but needs a little help from me and that has put most things on the back-burner, including this podcast. So, I thought it would be a good idea to answer some questions from the Cops and Writers Facebook group with stories from my career in law enforcement. In today's episode we discuss: · The impending release of The Good Collar. Getting the cover to conform with Amazon, and releasing the paperback, then the hardcover, and then the Kindle version very soon!! Some reviews have already come out on Goodreads, with an average of 4.5! For Goodreads that is awesome! Thanks to everyone who was a beta and ARC reader!· Fred Snyder asks: Current day United States. How much/what kind of paperwork is involved if a Federal officer (FBI, USSS, DHS) draws his/her gun? Doesn't fire it, just draws it. · Connie Albus asks: A husband and wife are found dead, both with bullet wounds but the coroner is not sure if the husband murdered his wife then committed suicide due to the angle of the bullet wounds on him, or if it was a double murder. On the coroner's report would it show hers as "homicide" and his as "homicide/suicide"? or other wording? Thanks for the help. (story takes place in the USA) _(added the remains were found in a burned building). Rich Rybicki and Scott Morales did a great job answering and I added that we never assume anything, it's a double homicide until it isn't. The totality of the circumstances comes into play here. Were there any 911/DV calls at the address? Did they find a gun, if so, where was it? Is there a motive, such as an impending divorce or other problems? Any history of calls of one of them having a mental illness crisis? Was there a note? There was a fire, so that might be tricky. Witness statements or video? · Allison Holland-Ray asks: In modern times, Portland, Maine, I have a suspect who's pointing his gun at two bystanders, while three officers all point their weapons at him. What is the protocol for getting him to drop his weapon? Right now, I have written that the officers are talking to him and they put their weapons down to show they are willing to talk. Dan breaks exclusive details about the shooting of three Milwaukee Police officers and speaks with Judge David Borowski about the massive problems in the criminal justice system.
The Milwaukee Police were up to some pretty drastic stuff in the early 80s, and Laurie Bembenek wanted in the boys club. Rampant partying, racism, misogyny, nachos, disco, wild jack off parties in broad daylight, boozing, some friendly fire, some not so friendly brutality, and tons of sexy hooking up. According to stats, Milwaukee had one of the lowest crime rates in the country. This story digs into the asterisk next to that statistic. Multiple RIPs in this one. Part 1 of 2. Check out www.murielsmurders.com/support for all the cool ways to show this podcast some love. Thanks, bye.
Sade Robinson tells a maintenance worker at her apartment building that she's excited about her first date with 33-year-old Maxwell Anderson. Robinson texts Anderson about where to eat and tells him she is "feeling seafood". Anderson takes Sade to a place he used to work, the Twisted Fisherman. After dinner, they spend some more time together having drinks at Duke's on Water. The couple leaves Duke's together around 9 PM. Around 9 AM April 2nd, Sade Robinson's friend and coworker reports her missing to Milwaukee Police. The friend says Robinson isn't returning her texts or calls and didn't show up to work that morning. The friend shows officers a Snapchat that Robinson posted the night before, showing Robinson was at a sports bar, Duke's on Water, the night before. Officers note that earlier that morning, Robinson's blue Honda Civic was found burning near 30th and Lisbon, 2 miles from her apartment. 5:30 PM April 2, Cudahy Police respond to a call along Lake Michigan. At Warnimont Park, a popular recreation area, a park goer reports finding a severed human leg. According to a post from the Cudahy Sheriff's office, the limb was found "in or near the water," east of the golf course, near the pump house. Three days after the Warnimont Park discovery, another call to police about a severed body part. 11 miles away from the shores of Lake Michigan, in a Milwaukee west side neighborhood, a body part is found at a playground. Police received the call around 10 pm Friday night, but investigators are tight lipped on exactly where the body part is found, or what remains are recovered. Within 24 hours, police respond to another call about the discovery of human remains. On Saturday just a few blocks from the same west side Milkwaukee area as Friday's discovery Police set up crime scene near a park. Around 7:15 pm the medical examiner arrived to remove the body part. Police blocked off the area and canvassed well past midnight, according to neighbors. The human remains are identified as belonging to Sade Robinson. For today's show, we are traveling to the West Coast and the home of Fisherman's Warf, The Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars, and of course, Alcatraz. On today's episode, we will be chatting with the City of San Francisco Police Sergeant and Bestselling Author, Adam Plantinga. It was hailed as “truly excellent” by author Lee Child and deemed “the new Bible for crime writers” by The Wall Street Journal. Adam's debut novel, Ascent, is burning up the charts and has been optioned for the silver screen by Universal Studios.Plantinga began his career in law enforcement in 2001 as a Milwaukee police officer. He is currently a sergeant with the San Francisco Police Department assigned to street patrol. This interview was near and dear to my heart because Adam started his LE career as a Milwaukee copper, just like me. We never worked together, but we sure have known the same characters and chewed the same dirt.In today's episode we discuss:· Why and where Adam got interested in law enforcement?· A special thank you to the “Cop Doc” Dr. Ellen Kirschman for introducing us.· From the land of Dirty Harry and The Streets of San Francisco. 5:30 p.m. April 2: Cudahy Police respond to reports of human remains found along Lake Michigan. At Warnimont Park, cops recover a severed human leg. Three days later, Milwaukee police find another unspecified human body part at a playground 11 miles away. A third set of unidentified human remains are recovered from a park just blocks from the previous discovery. In the meantime, Sade Carleena Robinson, 19, is reported ‘critically missing' by Milwaukee Police on April 1 when she fails to show up for a shift at Pizza Shuttle. Robinson's mother, Sheena Scarbrough, says Robinson texted her that afternoon to ask for money, which Scarbrough says is very unusual for Robinson. The next morning, police respond to reports of a car fire near 30th Street and Lisbon, 2 miles from Robinson's home. Fire investigators determined no one was inside the car, but family members identified the car as belonging to Sade. Sade Robinson's family joins the searches near the playground over the weekend. While police find unidentified human remains, Robinson's family discovers a blanket belonging to Sade. The distinct pink blanket pictures Sade with her beloved dog, Coco Chanel, who passed away. As more human remains are discovered, the family is losing hope Sade will be found alive. Authorities descend on a home 8 miles away in West Milwaukee. Investigators spend more than 24 hours searching the upper unit of the duplex, reportedly discovering blood in the stairwell and on a comforter. The homeowner is detained in connection with the remains found. Milwaukee Sheriffs reveal Maxwell Anderson remains in custody as a person of interest connected to the remains found along Lake Michigan. Anderson has not yet been criminally charged but does have a rap sheet. Anderson has several convictions including disorderly conduct, domestic abuse, and DUI over the last 10 years. In two incidents, Anderson became violent with relatives, and in a third, beat a stranger who intervened in an argument between Anderson and a woman. Anderson is said to work as a bartender for several establishments in the Milwaukee area. Born into the political and cultural quiescence of the 1950's, Jon Melrod grew up in apartheid-like Washington D.C. Active in the student movement that opposed the Vietnam War and a supporter of Black liberation, Jon embraced the ideology that the working class held the power to radically transform society. He left the campus for the factory in 1972. For thirteen years he immersed himself in the day- to-day struggles of Milwaukee's working class, both on the factory floor and in the political arena.Despite FBI and Milwaukee Police "Red Squad" interference, Jon organized a militant rank-and-file caucus and rose through the union ranks to a top leadership position in UAW local 72. After a mass workforce cutback imposed by AMC's joint venture partner French automaker Renault, he left to attend Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco in 1985. Graduating cum laude with a JD, he opened a law firm in San Francisco successfully representing hundreds of political refugees. In 2004, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given only six months to a year to live. Determined to overcome the illness, he marshalled both western and alternative treatments and, despite the odds, survived the deadly disease. After 13-year-old Andy Lopez was gunned down by a Sonoma County deputy sheriff, he reupped his bar membership and jumped back into the struggle against police violence. In 2019, he married Filipina actress and human rights activist Maria Isabel Lopez and became politically active in the movement to defend the ancestral lands of the persecuted indigenous peoples of the Philippine archipelago who are under attack by the army at the behest of foreign logging and mining interests. He has also become active in the human rights struggle defending imprisoned Filipino political prisoners.Thank you to BetterHelp for sponsoring this episode. A Wisconsin man is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and setting their home on fire just 10 days after a judge let him remain out on bond until his sentencing for child sexual abuse. Milwaukee Police are now searching for Ernest Terrell Blakney, 47, who has been on the run since allegedly shooting his ex, Nikia Rogers, in the head and setting her body on fire on Aug. 25. Blakney pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl on August 15, and prosecutor Sam Tufford requested that the judge immediately remand Blakney into custody ahead of an October sentencing hearing, where prosecutors planned to recommend a sentence of six to eight years, according to WISN. However, Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge David Borowski opted to let Blakney remain out on the same $5,000 bail — originally set in October 2021 — to let him get his affairs “wrapped up” before prison. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/leah-gordone/support

Alexis Patterson walked to school on May 3, 2002, but she never made it into the building. Her school didn't notify her parents of the seven-year-old's absence, so no one knew she was missing until school let out that afternoon. Her frantic parents, Ayanna and LaRon Bourgeois called Milwaukee Police, and a search began. But despite being only seven years old, Alexis was treated as a runaway. It would be over a week before police publicly said that they suspected foul play in her disappearance. As the days turned into months, which turned into years, the hope of finding Alexis alive diminished for many– but not her mother. She believes that her daughter is out there somewhere. And in 2016, it seemed she was proven right, when an Ohio man came to her and said that he knew Alexis. In fact, he had been married to her.If you have any information regarding the disappearance of Alexis Patterson, please call the Milwaukee Police Department at 414-935-7401.
