You can’t sit around waiting for someone to achieve your goals because nobody has the same desire, motivation, and belief that you have in your dreams. There’s no shortcut to success. You simply have to start. You’ll stumble a lot; but no individual has ever gotten away with success without a ton of failure. Nikki makes a case against the myth of perfectionism. She says that the majority of your plans will fall short of your ideal. But there’s no getting away from this reality. Instead of striving for perfection, Nikki encourages people to simply carry out their task and, once it’s all said and done, go through three steps: reflect, address, and accept. Look at what went wrong, what went right, and what you could do differently next time; take action based on those reflections; then move on once it’s all done. Rinse and repeat. Tune in to hear how you can eliminate all your excuses and unlock your full potential, from creating an unshakable sense of self, the importance of staying grounded, increasing productivity through self-care, and the seven habits that keep people from success. Nikki Woods is an American radio producer based in Dallas, Texas and best known for her work as the senior producer on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show. She is also a personal branding coach, social media consultant, author, motivational speaker and voice-over artist. Woods was born in Rock Hill, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. She explored many different career options as an adolescent but ultimately decided to study education and subsequently enrolled at Howard University in pursuit of that goal. However, Woods discovered during her time teaching in Missouri and in Jamaica that education was not her true passion and returned home to Rock Hill to weigh other professional options. While back home in Missouri, Nikki began to pay more attention to how people earned their livings and which of those career fields overlapped with her strengths. This period of introspection coincided with Nikki's increased exposure to Magic 108 in St. Louis and sparked her interest in the world of broadcast journalism; Woods was fascinated by the opportunity Disc Jockeys had to regularly speak to so many people on such an intimate level. This newfound interest sent Nikki back to school, this time at St. Francis University in Joliet, IL where she graduated with a BA in journalism and a concentration in broadcast journalism in 1995. Separate from her own professional endeavors, Woods is an ambassador for Pretty Brown Girls Inc., a movement that empowers and inspires girls and women to celebrate their shades of brown, as well as for Oprah Winfrey's OWN network. Woods was named the ME&WE Inc Woman of the Year in 2013. Nikki lives with her two sons, Tyler and Willis, in Dallas, Texas. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/themichaelcalderinshow/message

If you want to know how to write a book, this is the episode for you. Many in the Happy Black Woman community have been interested in writing a book for some time but simply haven’t known how to get started. That excuse is gone with this episode. Today Nikki Woods, a black woman who specializes in helping authors get their book written, published, and out into the world with a BANG is on the episode with Rosetta. She going to share the basics approach she uses to help many authors write best-sellers and make that book an integral part of their brand and expertise. You’re going to gain a lot of insight about writing and publishing a book on this episode. How to write a book: Nikki unpacks her process. There’s a lot more that goes into writing a book than you might realize. It’s not only about sitting in a chair and pounding away on a keyboard. You’ve got to know how to organize your thoughts, how to plan the book out in a logical way, how to build a following BEFORE you write the book, and how to publish and promote it once it’s written. Nikki Woods is here to help. Her generous sharing on this episode will help you get oriented in the right direction to get that book out of you and into the world! After you’ve written a book, what do you do with it then? It’s a monumental task to write a book that’s worth reading. Even if you haven’t gotten over that hurdle yet, you will if you keep working at it. But once it’s written - then what? You can’t expect to announce it on your Facebook feed and sell thousands of copies. It simply doesn’t work that way. You’ve got to know how to promote a book the right way - the way that gets people’s eyes on it and their wallets out to purchase it. Nikki Wood has that part of the process wired and will be sharing aspects of it with you on this episode, so be sure you listen to what she’s got to share. Why writing a book is a great opportunity for you as an entrepreneur. When you put your knowledge and experience between the covers of a book something amazing happens. People almost instantly view you as an expert, a person who knows the details and specifics of how to do what it is you do. That’s when people start contacting you to find out how you can help them with their dreams. It’s when you begin coaching, building courses, speaking at events. The book is the key that opens many doors of opportunity. Today Nikki Woods is going to share how that happens and why you need to get started writing your book right away. Build your platform and tribe before you write the book. Many entrepreneurs who become authors make a fatal mistake at the beginning of their publishing journey. They forget to build an audience before the book is even written. It may sound counterintuitive but think about it: When you’re able to begin the conversation about the topic of your book far in advance of writing the book, people begin to see you as the person who knows about and is interested in that topic. They begin to see you as the go-to person for all things related to the topic. When you begin to talk about writing a book on the subject you’ll get all kinds of enthusiasm, feedback, and insight into what your book should be about and the momentum will start to build. Find out how Nikki Woods her students to build their tribe first, on this episode. Outline of this great episode [0:30] Rosetta’s introduction to this episode and her guest, Nikki Woods. Good morning, good morning, GOOD morning!!! HAPPY FRRRIIIDDDDAAAAYYYYYY!!!!! I can't believe another work week is coming to an end. Tomorrow is Saturday, it seems like it was JUST Saturday, and I had the great spirit, Ms. Nikki Woods, call into the show. What a treat that was for me. Anywho, here we are again, coming to the end of what I hope was a great week for you. It sure was for me!!! I went to some online training classes, made some great new contacts, that I pray are going to lead me to MY promised land, here on earth, and for the most part, I feel it was a pretty productive week for me. Oh, oh, oh, let me not forget, I was even able to plant a few, mustard seed sized love offerings, into some well deserving people's lives. And I'm not saying that to brag, I'm merely mentioning it to let you know, that as skimpy as my budget is, when I'm able to, you better believe I practice what I preach, and that's to share what you have, to bless someone else, no matter how big or how small. That kind gesture, will do wonders for that person's perspective, as to how they may view the world and its inhabitants, when it comes to where they may be, in their present journey. Well, with all that being said, today's topic is, RELEASE AND SURRENDER. The card reads, "We shower you with blessings of our radiant love. Open your arms, and release the challenges that you've held tightly gripped within your hands. Open your hands, arms, and heart to our love and assistance." I'll help you with this one, and we can start with the daily affirmation. As always, please remember to share the show's link, and my email address for dropping me your issues, or love offerings, via http://www.paypal.com, at redhawk1967@hotmail.com.
