Dr Paul Malchesky, with a Master's degree in Chemistry and a Doctorate in Engineering, has been working with apheresis since the 1970's. This is a blood filtration or ‘cleaning' therapy we offer at Neuroveda Health as plasmapheresis (also called plasma exchange, PLEX and TPE (total or therapeutic plasma exchange)). There's been a lot of recent excitement regarding treatment of Long-COVID and as a ‘biohack' for longevity, but the truth is that it's been nearly half a century since the FDA approved this therapy for auto-immune and neurodegenerative conditions. The technology has come a long way and Dr Malchesky has been there the whole time. Of note, Ayurveda, the traditional medical system of India, also recognizes the value of detox and blood cleansing, making plasmapheresis a type of ‘rakta moksha'. This is a modern tool with ancient roots, our favorite kind of therapy. Today, we get into the history and mechanics to describe what this therapy is doing and how broad it's use can be. We discuss: · 3:30 What is apheresis? · 4:19 What is the history of apheresis? · 11:56 What is in blood? What are the components of blood? · 13.20 About anti-coagulation · 15:53 Ayurvedic use of blood cleansing called ‘rakta moksa' · 18:06 Dr Malchesky's personal history with apheresis starting with 1972; Reporting up to 40 diseases treated by 1981. · 24:40 Comparison of dialysis vs plasmapheresis filtration · 29:00 Late 70's/ early 80's, efforts to identify the specific proteins associated with certain diseases; findings and curiosity about cryoproteins- precipitates triggered by cold. · 36:57 Treatment to remove high cholesterol to prevent atherosclerosis. · 40:29 Description of the last 15 years of apheresis: applications & guidelines have really diversified by geography (centripetal in US & German; membrane for Japan), technology and disease state · 42:58 Safety of this procedure · 43:52 Difficulties with this procedure are most typically associated with venous access and sometimes blood pressure changes and/or anti-coagulant use · 44:40 Recognition that the macromolecules produced as ‘toxic' can present in every silo of medicine: oncology, rheumatology, neurology, and therefore, also make sense to use these treatments for longevity & anti-aging · 49:43 In studying the toxins removed, it's evident that these toxins removed impair cellular function, so removal can allow cells to perform more of their regular functions. · 51:08 The goal at Neuroveda Health is that plasmapheresis is part of a larger medical and wellness program to renovate the health from the ground up. · 51:38 Discussion of Lp(a). · 53:24 Designing clinical trials using historical experience of the questions and initial clinical trial endeavors with rheumatoid arthritis patients BIO: Dr. Paul Malchesky holds a B.S. Degree in Chemistry from St. Francis University, M.S. degrees in Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University and in Chemical Engineering from Cleveland State University and a Doctorate in Engineering from Cleveland State University. He is President of the International Center for Artificial Organs and Transplantation (ICAOT) and consults for the chemical and medical industries. He has published extensively nearly 500 publications, holds 35 patents, and was co-editor of four books on apheresis. He is active in various professional societies and is the former Editor-in-Chief of Artificial Organs and Managing Editor of Therapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis. He is a Past-President of the International Society for Apheresis. He is an Elected Fellow to the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering and The Ohio Academy of Science. Brenita Jackson enters her second year (2022-23) as head coach of the women's basketball program and 7th season overall as a head coach at the college level coaching alongside her husband Kevin Jackson. In just her first season at the helm of the Lady Ram's program, Jackson holds the third best record in program history 25-7 and holds the highest win percentage .781 of any coach in the history of women's basketball at Texas Wesleyan. The Lady Rams qualified for the national tournament for only the third time in program history ending their historic season in Sioux Falls, Iowa to St. Francis University. Jackson was named the 2021-2022 John Hudson Coach of the Year after reviving the program that only won 1 game that she inherited to a 25-win season. This 24 win improvement in just one year is the best turnaround in the program's history. The team was lead by junior transfer Kertisa Amos who was named First Team all Sooner Athletic Conference, New Comer of the Year and on the All-Defensive Team. The team was also propelled by the play of Freshman of the Year, Zarria Carter, and All Conference Honorable Mention, Makayla Coy. Both Carter and Amos were awarded Player of the Week Awards in the Sooner Athletic Conference during the historic season. Turning around losing programs is something Kevin and Brenita Jackson have done at three different college programs in their coaching careers and have worked tirelessly to maintain an overall graduation rate of 100% of all student-athletes. The husband and wife team believe in building the whole person and developing the student and the athlete for success in the classroom, on the court and in life. Prior to coming to Texas Wesleyan, Brenita spent a season at Little Elm High School where she served as an assistant coach for a year. She has also spent the last 8 years building KBJ Academy with her husband Kevin Jackson to offer consulting, basketball skills training, camps and team building retreats across the country. Jackson is from the Dallas-Fort Worth area and graduated from Cedar Hill High School in 2003. She went on to play two years at Lon Morris College where she led the team from last place, to a Region 14 Conference Champion Runner-Up finish in 2005. She was voted to the All-Conference and All-Academic team and signed to play at NCAA Division I Southeastern Louisiana University in the Southland Conference. While at Southeastern, she led the Lions from last place in the conference to an East Division Conference Championship in 2007 while also garnering All-Conference, All-Academic and All-Louisiana honors. While at Southeastern, she met her now husband - Kevin Jackson who would later join her on the coaching journey making history together at various stops. After graduating from Southeastern with her Bachelor's in Business Management, Brenita went on to play professionally in Aarhus, Denmark where she began coaching her team to an undefeated season. Brenita returned to her alma mater in the fall of 2008 to become an assistant coach at Lon Morris College. In 2010, she was promoted to the head coaching position and made history with Kevin Jackson in their first two years. The pair broke the school record for the most wins in a season finishing 19-12, while also finishing runner-up in the Region 14 Championship. Brenita and Kevin recruited and coached two All-Americans, six All-Conference winners, four All-Academic winners and one Freshman of the Year. They also obtained a 100% graduation rate of all sophomores and the team GPA was ranked No. 5 in the nation, with an average GPA of 3.5. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/chefranjohn/support

In today's episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Mychal Pagan and Vincenzo Guido, two men connected to the incredible organization Thrive for Life. Thrive for Life began with Father Zachariah F. Presutti's ministry behind the walls in New York prison facilities. His efforts have since evolved into this re-entry and pre re-entry program that is adding to the quality of life for many of those returning home. In 2019 Thrive for Life opened its first transitional supportive learning community, Ignacio House of Studies, which allowed returning citizens a place to both rest their heads and be surrounded by a community that encouraged focusing on completing one's education. Many have benefited from their service, one of which being Mychal. Ignacio House currently partners with NYU, Columbia University, St. Francis University and Cornell University among others. In today's discussion, Mychal shares his experience of having come home to a community like Thrive for Life and how it has shaped him in his activist efforts and life in general today. You'll also hear from Vincenzo, the Director of Development and Communications, on the foundations of the organization and all that Thrive for Life has in store for the future! As today's call-to-action, be sure to check out Thrive for Life's website and Instagram. You can support their ministry by signing up to volunteer or by donating. You can follow Mychal on Instagram as well to get connected with him and his work. Finally, if you are interested in viewing Thrive for Life's Giving Tuesday 2022 full video, you can find it here. Are you like our client Jessica who was terrified of getting lip injections? In this video join facial esthetic specialist Carl Clarke H.M.S, RPAC as he explains everything you need to know to avoid getting bad results. Social media gives us a false sense of the final result. Images taken right after a procedure does not truly reflect the best of what you can expect. Just walking down the street you can see ridiculously bad results with lip injections! Things like bruising and migration bumps from bad lip injections. We often think of the lips as two pillows, but they are more like columns that create structure from the top, the corners and the bottom. Your natural shape will dictate different styles, our technique and the products we use also determines the end result. Fact: There is no way to know what they will end up looking like UNLESS the injector understands what you want and they are skilled and using the best products for your procedure. Yes, we all expect discomfort and a little bleeding, but bruising and excessive swelling should not happen! How often does bruising happen? How swollen will I look? What can I expect from getting lip injections for the first time? What about the shape of the face? Your lips should look balanced for your unique shape and that is what our Diamond Touch Technique does so beautifully. Watch the video to find out more! Why does improving the way we look impact us so profoundly? Is it wrong to spend thousands of dollars on clothing and designer goods? Does that make you “Vain”? Some call it a dirty word but the desire to look good no matter what your age comes from a place of pride in oneself. And that begins in having pride in what you look like. Your overall image sends a message, so what is the message you're sending? What can we achieve when we are looking and feeling our optimal best? Our innate attitude in how we judge ourselves and others exists no matter what you decide. Vanity is the benchmark in how we determine and rank ourselves. We are all vain because we instantly feel better when we look our best but holding on to negative comments is what holds us back. Do you like your self image? Do you like your attire? You can upgrade your appearance all the time. Why should how you address aging be any different? Facial lines can make you look angry and upset or too intense or sad. This sends a message that perhaps you don't want to send. Think of what you can achieve when you look and feel your optimal best! Nelson L. Tressler is the Founder and CEO of IGOTSMARTER, a goal-achievement program created to help people succeed in every aspect of life. Prior to IGOTSMARTER, Nelson was a top real estate agent, completing well over $1 billion in transactions for his clients. As a serial entrepreneur, he has successfully founded over 10 businesses and has been named one of Las Vegas' Top 40 under 40. Nelson's success and life philosophy come from his unique beginnings. Rape, murder, extreme poverty, and the biggest trail ever to hit his small town were just a few things waiting for Nelson upon his birth. The child of a 15-year-old mother, Nelson's young life started from behind. The oldest of five children and raised in poverty by an abusive stepfather, Nelson turned resourcefulness and tenacity into a life skill. He played college football for St. Francis University and joined the US Air Force on the GI Bill. He served as an electronic and navigation technician with tours in Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Upon leaving the Air Force, Nelson finished his education at University of Nevada, Las Vegas and founded his first company. Nelson spent a 20-year commercial real estate career at Newmark Knight Frank and Grubb & Ellis Commercial Real Estate as one of the top producing agents in the nation. He has personally developed over $25 million in commercial real estate and brokered deals for clients worth well over $1 billion. He went on to become the founder of multiple service businesses, including one of the nation's largest privately held pet resorts, a chain of children's learning centers, and two family fun centers. Nelson founded the IGOTSMARTER company centered around changing the world one person, one goal at a time. Built on the over 25 years of life lessons he picked up from his murder to millions story, IGOTSMARTER implements the philosophies, goal-setting, and personal development techniques Nelson has honed to build his personal success. Nelson has been married over 25 years and has raised three children. He currently lives in Las Vegas. Learn more about Nelson and his work at https: //www.IGOTSMARTER.com.

Episode: 126 Nelson Tressler Join your hosts, David Pere and Alex Felice, with their guest Nelson Tressler, as they speak about how a man can succeed, on his own terms, despite struggles on top of struggles. Nelson's story gives testament to how we don't always have to end up the way we started, a lesson that many people may take through multiple different ways. Getting held back in school with dyslexia was one challenge Nelson had to face; finishing college was another thing and a rather hard one for him to do. But after finishing college, Nelson grew the desire to overcome more of whatever life throws at him in his journey of emotional recovery and development; later on, he continued to become a broker, businessman, and author. In this episode, Nelson imparts a handful of lessons on perception, the mindset your goals need, and what he thinks people can learn from if they want to move on to a better place in their lives – be it physical or mental. Nelson believes that our life is not our circumstances; it is what we do in those circumstances that make our lives. About Nelson Tressler: Nelson was born to a teenage mother in rural central Pennsylvania and has never known his biological father. He was the oldest of five children and grew up in poverty under an alcoholic and abusive stepfather. Nelson lost track of the number of times that he went to bed hungry. Far from an idyllic childhood, Nelson worked on his uncle's garbage truck during the summer and holidays to help provide for his family. Once Nelson got his driver's license, a local construction company hired him to work until he graduated from high school. In high school, Nelson was a three-sport athlete. He still holds several school records and was voted the most athletic member of his senior class. Once he graduated, he went on to play college football at St. Francis University. After his freshman year of college, it was very evident that he could not afford to continue. He then joined the United States Air Force on the G.I. bill. He trained as an electronic and navigation technician on the E.F.–111 aircraft. Nelson served in Saudi Arabia and Turkey during his four years of military service. He attended multiple universities during his service and received his associate's degree. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he attended the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. He started a window cleaning business to pay for school and support his young family. After graduating with a Finance degree from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, Nelson went to work for Grubb &; Ellis Commercial real estate. Nelson and his team were the top producing team in the nation on several occasions while working at Grubb & Ellis commercial real estate. Newmark Grubb Knight Frank later purchased the company. Nelson has consistently been one of the nation's top-producing brokers, and his team has been the top-producing retail team in the Las Vegas market for an impressive 19 straight years. In 2008, Nelson was named to Las Vegas' prestigious "40 under 40" list. He has personally developed commercial projects over $25 million. Additionally, during his 20+ year career, Nelson has brokered deals on behalf of his clients over $750 million. Nelson has founded several successful businesses, including one of the largest chains of children's daycare centers in Las Vegas, which he sold for a profit. He is also the founder of one of the nation's largest privately held pet resorts he recently sold. Nelson is currently acting as a partner in multiple business ventures ranging from tanning salons and family fun centers to a landscaping rock supplier. He is also involved in numerous real estate ventures, including apartment buildings and commercial real estate developments. His team continues to be the top retail producing team for Newmark Grubb Knight Frank in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nikki Woods is an American radio producer based in Dallas, Texas and best known for her work as the senior producer on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show. She is also a personal branding coach, social media consultant, author, motivational speaker and voice-over artist. Woods was born in Rock Hill, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. She explored many different career options as an adolescent but ultimately decided to study education and subsequently enrolled at Howard University in pursuit of that goal. However, Woods discovered during her time teaching in Missouri and in Jamaica that education was not her true passion and returned home to Rock Hill to weigh other professional options. While back home in Missouri, Nikki began to pay more attention to how people earned their livings and which of those career fields overlapped with her strengths. This period of introspection coincided with Nikki's increased exposure to Magic 108 in St. Louis and sparked her interest in the world of broadcast journalism; Woods was fascinated by the opportunity Disc Jockeys had to regularly speak to so many people on such an intimate level. This newfound interest sent Nikki back to school, this time at St. Francis University in Joliet, IL where she graduated with a BA in journalism and a concentration in broadcast journalism in 1995. Separate from her own professional endeavors, Woods is an ambassador for Pretty Brown Girls Inc., a movement that empowers and inspires girls and women to celebrate their shades of brown, as well as for Oprah Winfrey's OWN network. Woods was named the ME&WE Inc Woman of the Year in 2013. Nikki lives with her two sons, Tyler and Willis, in Dallas, Texas. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/themichaelcalderinshow/message

Upon entering Chuck Olson's studio in Indiana Pennsylvania, I was hit instantly and simultaneously with feelings of joy and envy. The space is large, bright, and lined with cool things at which to look. The view is great for gazing out at and daydreaming and the room is filled with enough light for a painter, (and there is never enough light in a room for a painter). In our chat we talk about the importance of having a space to work in that you want to simply be in and his space is the ideal one. Check out the gallery of photos and see for yourself! Chuck Olson was one of the first people I've chatted with who discovered the AP Collection through someone else's interview and emailed me directly asking to chat. One peak at his website and I could not wait to sit down and talk. He's a well established and practicing artist who's been teaching at St. Francis University in Indiana Pennsylvania since he was only 23 years old. During his time there he's not only taught and inspired countless students but also created his own extensive body of work that investigates the limits of painting as a medium. I'm not going to spoil anything we talked about here so just enjoy our chat and be sure to check out the link to his site below!
