NC State once again needed a fourth-quarter stop to seal a home win, but got just that with Cian Slone's interception in a 35-31 win over Virginia. The Wolfpack notched five total touchdowns with CJ Bailey accounting for three -- two on the ground, one to Noah Rogers -- while Hollywood Smothers had the other two on the ground. Cory Smith and Michael Clark discuss the Wolfpack's nail-biting win, Bailey's continued dominance as a passer and runner, Smothers' massive outing and the defense that bent, but didn't ultimately break against the Hoos. This episode emphasizes the importance of relationships in the dissemination of the gospel, using the biblical account of Peter and Cornelius to underscore the transformative power of cross-cultural evangelism. It then connects this theme to the historical mission of 1843, when missionaries were dispatched to non-English speaking areas, akin to Peter's calling to visit Cornelius. Among these missionaries was Addison Pratt, a former whaler who, despite a tumultuous past, had developed a rudimentary understanding of Hawaiian during his travels. After receiving a patriarchal blessing, he and three other missionaries, including Benjamin F. Grouard and Noah Rogers, set sail to preach in Hawaii. Their arduous six-month voyage took them past Australia and eventually to an island south of Tahiti, where they encountered both hospitable reception and challenges, such as the death of one missionary from tuberculosis.Upon reaching Tubuai, the missionaries experienced a warm welcome, leading one to remain there while Addison and the others planned to travel to Tahiti, unaware of the war transpiring there. Instead, they redirected to the Tuamutu Islands. The significance of building strong relationships is highlighted through Addison's interactions with the Tupoy locals and his missionary endeavors that bridged cultural gaps through language. The text concludes by noting the upcoming 180th-anniversary celebration of Addison Pratt's arrival on Tubuai, an event that church leaders will attend to honor the legacy of early missionary work and the enduring power of relationships in spreading faith.__________________________Do you have questions or comments? Please contact me: rtosguthorpe@gmail.comWant more info about my books and talks?Go to my website: https://www.russelltosguthorpe.com/Want to order a book? Tim Donnelly breaks down the breaking news of NC State football landing 4-star WR Noah Rogers from Ohio State football via the transfer portal. Donnelly points out that Dave Doeren has gone after high end skill players on offense through both recruiting and the college football transfer portal.
Ohio State's offensive performance in the Cotton Bowl was unlike any we had seen since Ryan Day came to Columbus. The Buckeyes' three points and 203 yards of offense against Missouri were both by far the worst totals put up by an Ohio State offense in any game since OSU's 2016 College Football Playoff semifinal loss to Clemson. That game, in which the Buckeyes failed to score any points, led to an offensive staff shakeup that initially brought Day to Ohio State as the Buckeyes' co-offensive coordinator.Having now completed his fifth year as Ohio State's head coach with back-to-back losses to end the year, Day must seriously consider making offensive staff changes of his own after a significant dropoff in offensive performance throughout the 2023 season, especially in Ohio State's 14-3 season-ending loss.Ohio State's biggest failures in the Cotton Bowl came on the offensive line, which had the worst performance we've ever seen from a Buckeye offensive line in our time covering the team. That was a significant factor in the struggles of Ohio State's quarterbacks, but those struggles could nevertheless lead to a transfer quarterback addition. And it's probably time for Day to give up offensive play-calling duties after an ineffective game plan in Dallas. We dive into all of that and evaluate how hot Day's seat could be in 2024 before giving our overall grades for the 2023 season, identifying the year's biggest surprises and disappointments and making our picks for next week's national championship game in our first Real Pod Wednesdays of 2024. 0:36: Ohio State's offensive performance was U-G-L-Y, starting with its offensive line play 7:19: We don't expect Justin Frye to be fired now, but he has a lot to prove in 2024 11:00: Josh Fryar should be playing guard, not tackle 13:20: Lincoln Kienholz didn't look bad when he had time to throw, but that rarely happened 14:18: Devin Brown's injury prevented us from a real evaluation of OSU's quarterback situation 16:06: Will Howard can add experience at QB, but would he be an upgrade over Kyle McCord? 24:18: It would be tough for Ryan Day to bank his future on unproven QB in make-or-break year 27:33: It's time for Day to embrace the CEO role and hire someone else to call offensive plays 36:55: Day's seat is getting warmer, especially with a new athletic director coming later this year 39:39: Beating Michigan, making the 12-team CFP should be minimum expectations for 2024 47:03: Ohio State's defense bears no blame for loss, but special teams remained a problem 47:36: Promoting James Laurinaitis to linebackers coach, replacing Parker Fleming is an obvious move 52:24: Our overall grades for Ohio State's 2023 season 57:55: Our biggest positive surprises and biggest disappointments for Ohio State this season 1:04:01: Will Kacmarek isn't a flashy addition, but he could be a big asset at tight end 1:06:45: Departures of Noah Rogers, Bryson Rodgers speak to new roster-building challenges 1:11:49: Why we‘re picking Michigan to win the national championship game
A lot has happened since Ohio State closed out its season with a 14-3 loss to Missouri in the Cotton Bowl. On this Tuesday episode of Buckeye Talk, Stephen Means, Nathan Baird and Andrew Gilliss are here to break it all down. Among the topics discussed: How Michael Hall Jr. declaring for the NFL Draft impacts OSU; Expectations for Ohio tight end transfer Will Kacmarek; Looking at the losses of Bryson Rodgers and Noah Rogers to the transfer portal and the state of the wide receiver room; Who will replace Jesse Mirco after the punter entered the transfer portal and; Reacting to Michigan and Washington reaching the National Championship Game and what it means for Ohio State's standing as it enters Big Ten expansion and a 12-team College Football Playoff in 2024. A pair of first-year Ohio State wide receivers announced that they would be entering the Transfer Portal in the days following the Buckeyes' season-ending loss in the Cotton Bowl. Bryson Rodgers and Noah Rogers both made their announcements on New Year's Eve, cutting the Buckeyes' 2023 receiver class in half. Neither Rodgers nor Rogers recorded a reception during the 2023 season, and both played only sparingly throughout the year. Tony Gerdeman of BuckeyeHuddle.com joins host Tom Orr to discuss the departures, and what they will mean for Brian Hartline's unit in 2024 and beyond. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5626222/advertisement

Brian Hartline brought in another potentially elite class of freshman wide receivers for 2023, including early-enrollees Carnell Tate, Noah Rogers, and Bryson Rodgers, and Brandon Inniss who will enroll this summer.Tate has already lost his black stripe, one of the earliest freshmen to do it in program history. How is he progressing this spring, and what are the other two early enrollees working on right now? In this episode of the Buckeyes TomOrrow Morning podcast, you'll hear directly from Hartline about that and much more.
Current and former Ohio State football players will both be back on the football field over the next seven days. The 2023 Ohio State football team will take the field for its first practice of the year on Tuesday when the Buckeyes will hold their first of 15 spring practices at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Before then, eight members of the 2022 Ohio State football team will participate in the NFL Scouting Combine, where workouts will be held Thursday through Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. There's no shortage of storylines entering this year's spring practices, and we start this week's episode of Real Pod Wednesdays by previewing the ones that we'll be most focused on when spring ball opens next week. After that, we discuss our expectations for all eight of Ohio State's participants in this year's NFL Combine – C.J. Stroud, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Paris Johnson Jr., Dawand Jones, Luke Wypler, Zach Harrison, Cameron Brown and Ronnie Hickman – and what we think they can accomplish this week. The full rundown for this week's show: 2:09: There are a lot more depth chart questions entering this spring than there were last spring 4:47: Why the offensive line is the No. 1 area we'll have our eye on next week 7:58: Competition in the secondary is the No. 2 thing we'll be watching as spring begins 9:32: We don't expect to see many defensive scheme changes this spring – at least not while the media is watching 13:51: Jermaine Mathews, Carnell Tate and Noah Rogers among early enrollees we'll be watching closely 16:54: Davison Igbinosun, Victor Cutler are transfers we'll be watching most closely this spring 19:45: Jayden Ballard, Zen Michalski, Gee Scott Jr., Cameron Martinez among veterans who need big springs 28:09: C.J. Stroud can make his case for QB1 with a great throwing session and a good 40 time 32:36: Paris Johnson Jr. should excel both in combine workouts and team interviews 34:17: Jaxon Smith-Njigba and his 40 time may be the most interesting combine storyline among Buckeyes 37:24: Zach Harrison's draft stock will soar if he can run as fast as he did in high school 38:26: Dawand Jones' size is obvious, but combine will be a good litmus test of his athleticism 41:00: Cameron Brown will look to back up his talk about how fast he can run 43:58: Luke Wypler is the favorite to have the best bench press performance among Buckeyes 45:06: Ronnie Hickman could use a strong combine showing to get momentum back on his side 46:43: Taron Vincent is Ohio State's most surprising combine snub 49:01: Ohio State men's basketball finally won a game, and the freshman class (especially Bruce Thornton) is building momentum 56:37: That momentum will mean more if Brice Sensabaugh returns for another year – and there's some talk he could 59:57: Outlook for Ohio State women's basketball entering the Big Ten Tournament

On the BWI Daily Edition, recruiting insider Ryan Snyder gets fans up-to-date on where those visits are and which players the Lions are targeting. Subscribe to the BWI Daily, so you don't miss an episode! https://bit.ly/3KzEcqK Host Thomas Frank Carr and Snyder start the show by discussing the critical targets that Penn State visited on Thursday of the bye week. Some players, like four-star receiver Noah Rogers and linebacker Kaveion Keys, are committed elsewhere, but the staff still believes in keeping in contact lest anything should happen. Snyder also discusses his plans to see Penn State commits Anthony Donkoh and Alex Birchmeier play in Virginia tonight. Next, T-Frank and Snyder discuss the Friday visits that Penn State coaches are taking today. Several high-profile names emerged from the conversation, including five-star defensive end Keon Keeley. With limited time this week and many prospects to visit, T-Frank is curious why Keeley is getting a visit, despite his five-star status. Snyder discusses if the Lions had a previous relationship with the Berkeley Prep pass rusher. After wrapping up the travel schedule for the coaching staff, Snyder discusses his interview with Ernest Anderson, the head coach at St. Thomas More. Anderson is the head coach of Zion Tracy, Penn State's surprise 2023 commit at cornerback. Snyder discussed his impressions of the conversation and got more information about what Tracy is as a player and a person. Finally, T-Frank gives his impressions from the article and shares his thoughts on Tracy from the brief film he's watched of the cornerback commit. Tracy plays IMG academy Friday night, which should be available for fans that want to watch the game on YouTube. Lastly, Snyder takes you through his best bets of the week in college football. This week's action includes: UNLV (+6) at San Jose State Purdue (+3) at Maryland Virginia Tech (+14.5) at Pitt TCU (-6) at Kansas Auburn (+30) at Georgia Texas A&M (+23.5) vs. Alabama Check out the show to see what Snyder thinks the smart bets are in these six games. We've landed on a word to sum up Ohio State's recent recruiting efforts: 'Unfair.' Thankfully we mean 'unfair' to the Buckeyes' trail competition. Wednesday marked the third day in a row an elite wide receiver joined Ohio State's Class of 2023 haul. Bill Kurelic and Mark Porter are here to discuss the addition of Noah Rogers to previous WR pledges Carnell Tate and Brandon Inniss. But this show offers so much more. We discussed a veritable who's who of elites as the biggest recruiting weekend of year in Columbus approaches. You want a few names? How about Caleb Downs, Jason Moore, Matayo Uiagalelei, Colin Hurley, Stacy George, Tackett Curtis, Miles Lockhart and a bunch more! Spend 5ish with this a.m., 'Nutters! Another day, another elite wide receiver commitment for the Ohio State Buckeyes. After 5-star Carnell Tate committed on Monday, and 5-star Brandon Inniss committed on Tuesday, 4-star Noah Rogers announced that he would join the class on Wednesday. It's an unprecedented week of commits for one position group for the Buckeyes, and puts this wide receiver class in truly rare air in program history. Tony Gerdeman, host of the Buckeye Weekly podcast, joins host Tom Orr to discuss Rogers' commitment and what it means for the class on the whole. - Where will each of the receivers fit in to the lineup at the college level?- Is this the greatest single-position group in any class in Ohio State history?- Will this elite group of receivers help convince a quarterback to commit soon?
The Buckeyes landed commitments from five-star Florida wide receivers Carnell Tate and Brandon Inniss in a two-day span, taking their class from No. 4 nationally into the top spot of the On3 Consensus rankings. Lettermen Row staffers Spencer Holbrook and Andrew Ellis are back to break down every angle of it on the Lettermen Row Recruiting Podcast. With Tate, Inniss and four-star receiver Bryson Rodgers in the fold, the Buckeyes can turn their focus to four-star receiver Noah Rogers to complete their pass-catching haul in this class. But the receiver talk is just where the show gets started. Ohio State hosted some of its top targets for official visits last weekend, and there's plenty of buzz coming out of the Woody Hayes Athletic Center following those visits. What is the biggest storyline to track after a big weekend? There's a lot to unpack there. Oh, and the Buckeyes are also opening their doors to another batch of un committed, highly-rated prospects who will take official visits to Columbus this weekend. The guys pick their five players to watch out for during what should be a massive weekend for Ryan Day and the Ohio State program. And that's not even mentioning that five-star Buckeyes quarterback commit Dylan Raiola was on campus for a workout Tuesday, working in front of the coaching staff alongside a 2025 quarterback who received an offer while Raiola was on campus. #CFBNews #ohiostatefootball #ohiostate Subscribe for more Ohio State Football coverage: https://www.youtube.com/c/Lettermenrow?sub_confirmation=1 Ohio State Buckeyes videos from Columbus, Ohio from the staff of Lettermen Row. This week, Penn State recruiting ended their "extended dead period," as recruiting insider Ryan Snyder called it. The BWI Daily Recruiting Show is here to give you the scoop on what's new and what names are important as the Nittany Lions get into the quiet recruiting period, where players can take visits to Happy Valley. Reporter Greg Pickel and Snyder run down the information of the week. Before getting to Penn State's first visitor of March, they start with the Nittany Lion's camp schedule for the summer. First, Snyder points out two key differences with Penn State's camp schedule and plan over the last several years. He explains why they're essential to understanding and then contextualizes the change. Next, he runs down the camp dates and the critical things to know about most of the schedule. After that, Pickel gives his thoughts on why it's crucial to have high school teams, not all-star teams at camps. From there, Snyder discusses Penn State's first visiting player for the Class of 2023 in March, Cameron Lenhardt. How did things go for the IMG Academy defensive end? Also, why was he up north this week? Finally, Snyder fills in those details from his conversation with the four-star edge rusher earlier in the week. Next, they get into the key players in the Class of 2023 on the offensive side of the ball. Snyder has paired down his hot boards for the class and shares the key names for this spring. They start at quarterback, and while Dante Moore is on the list, the key names are JJ Kolh out of Iowa and Marcus Stokes out of Florida. So what makes those players the standouts? Snyder fills in what he knows and gives some personal thoughts on what Mike Yurcich is looking for in a quarterback. From there, they discuss the Penn State running back board, which includes a recent offer in Scranton Prep's London Montgomery. He and Florida rusher Treyaun Webb seem to be the clear-cut favorites to land at Penn State, but Snyder throws in other national names. At tight end, there's really only one name to know. Michigan commit Andrew Rappleyea wants to visit other schools after changes on the Michigan staff, and Penn State is one of his destinations. From there, they head to receiver and start with Penn State's top targets. Four-star receivers Rodney Gallagher and Noah Rogers remain the teams' highest priority targets while others stay in the mix, like Dallastown's Kenny Johnson. Finally, they head to the offensive line room to see who else Penn State might fit into its already loaded class. Several interior players come up on the show and are possible targets despite Penn State's depth inside players. Yet, the top two players remaining are tackle prospects Samson Okunlola and Evan Link. Snyder explains why each, but especially Link, is key. #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annual SUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmation Bookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/ Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: http://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394 Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/ Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3 Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.com Learn more about your ad choices. Penn State's recruiting efforts for the Class of 2023 came into sharper clarity this week with the release of the On300 from Blue White Illustrated's parent company. The BWI Daily Edition, Recruiting show focuses on that list and details where Penn State's commits and targets ended up in the new rankings. Then, host Greg Pickel and recruiting insider, Ryan Snyder, go through the most important players. First, they start with Penn State's top committed players. Five-star offensive lineman Jven Williams cracked the top 15 players in the nation, while four-star interior lineman Alex Birchmeier is outside that five-star group. So, could Penn State have two five-star linemen in the same class? Snyder gives his thoughts. Next, they look at the top 100 players in the nation and detail the targets that Penn State has a chance to land. Snyder starts with Thayer Academy tackle Samson Okunlola, who clocks in at 59th nationally. Okunlola has an even split between Penn State, Georiga, Rutgers, and Virginia in the On3 RPM Prediction Machine. So Snyder fills in the context of Penn State's standing with the four-star tackle prospect. He also highlights tackle Kadyn Proctor and receiver Noah Rogers. From there, Snyder singles out Florida defensive tackle Derrick LeBlanc, who is the 71st player in the nation per On3's update. His relationship with a current Nittany Lion is a bonus for Penn State recruiting. How much? Snyder relays which player he's close with and how realistic the possibility is. Later in the podcast, they discuss LeBlanc's teammate, John Walker, who went from unraked to 125. Other players that Snyder goes over include Maryland defensive tackle Jason Moore (89th overall) and 2nd ranked safety in the country, Cameron Seldon, as potential targets in the top 100. From there, they discuss the following 100 players and Penn State's targets in that group. Gonzaga's Evan Link leads this group. The 6-5 tackle jumped 75 spots in the rankings, and Snyder gives the story on how Link made such a giant leap. Linebackers Ta'Mere Robinson, Tony Rojas, and receiver Rodney Gallagher are regional prospects with which Penn State sits in a strong position. Pickel details their movement on the list and gives his thoughts on their Penn State recruiting fit. Penn State commit Neeo Avery also checks in at this part in the list. Finally, Snyder highlights physical freak Joseph Mupoyi from Archbishop Carroll at the defensive end position. Lastly, they look at the final third of the group from 201-300. According to Snyder, quarterback JJ Kohl is a hot name, as is Florida QB Marcus Stokes. Check out the show to hear more about the quarterback situation. They also touch on the running back situation with London Montgomery from Scranton Prep. The 5-9 tailback made the 300 list, but Penn State is seemingly looking elsewhere. Will he get an offer? Again, Snyder gives some details on the situation. Finally, Snyder highlights dark horse defensive end, Jameial Lyons, from Roman Catholic in Philadelphia. Penn State football wrapped up the Class of 2022 earlier this week so it's on to the next cycle. That's not just true for the Nittany Lions, but also Blue White Illustrated recruiting insider Ryan Snyder and the rest of the recruiting world as well. He joins host Thomas Frank Carr to give you Penn State's top targets at each position in the upcoming Class of 2023. They start, as you always should, at the quarterback position. So what's the update with the Nittany Lions' efforts to land their top target, Dante Moore, out of Martin Luther King high school in Detroit? Why are they offering more quarterbacks like Florida prospect Marcus Stokes? Snyder gives his impressions on offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich's efforts to find his next signal-caller. After that, they dip into the equally murky waters of running back for 2023. Is Treyaun Webb the most likely candidate to land in Happy Valley? Can JaJuan Seider work his magic in Florida and get the four-star runner to Pennsylvania? Or will more players emerge and this list expand? Bauer and T-Frank discuss the state of this position before moving on to tight a much clearer position. Receiver has an apparent leader for the Nittany Lions in four-star wideout from the Pittsburgh area, Rodney Gallagher. How many players can Penn State take in this cycle? Snyder gives his thoughts on four-star prospects Noah Rogers, Ejani Shakir, and local Dallastown product Kenny Johnson. Tight end is another set position for Penn State after the commitments of Exeter Township's Joey Schlaffer and four-star prospect Neeo Avery from Good Counsel. It's also the position that's had the most change, with players like Mathias Barnwell likely switching positions and Avery showing great promise as a defensive end. So could Penn State add another player here? Snyder gives his thoughts. The offensive line is not as set as the tight end but already has three committed prospects. Penn State has already secured commitments from two interior players in high four-star talent Alex Birchmeier, Trinity Christian guard Josh Miller and tackle/guard prospect Anthony Donkoh from Alide, VA So, as always, who are the tackle prospects? Snyder mentions several, including national candidates like Luke Montgomery and Chase Bisontis, but Gonzaga's four-star tackle Evan Link is his top target. He explains why. He also brings up several other important players like Thayer Academy's Samson Okunlola but has reservations about where they stand at the moment. The defensive line is chocked with talent, so T-Frank and Snyder start at edge defender and work inside. Five-star edge rusher Nyckoles Harbor leads the list but is joined by his teammate at Archbishop Carrol, Joseph Mupoyi. It's a deep list that includes Top 250 players David Ojiegbe, Dylan Gooden and Desmond Umeozulu. But the list also includes under-the-radar candidates Mason Robinson, and Michael Kilbane. Snyder gives viewers a sense of their possibility, interest level in Penn State and vice versa. The defensive line is not short on talent as we switch to defensive tackle. Penn State already has athlete Mathias Barnwell verbally committed, and the 6-6 athlete prospect recently told Snyder that he'd like to play tackle. Throw on top of that Dematha Catholic standout Jason Moore. The list is already strong before getting to four-star prospects Jason Moore, Derrick LeBlanc, Will Norman, John Walker, Joel Starlings, Justin Benton, and Sydir Mitchell. How many can the Nittany Lions take? How many will they want to take? Snyder gives his thoughts about the group. Finally, T-Frank and Snyder wrap up the show discussing the most important players and positions mentioned that are "can't miss" players for Penn State in this cycle.
