Parents across America remain on heightened  alert as it relates to their kid's safety when they send them to school.  Parents of school-aged children in the U.S. remain more apprehensive than usual about their child's physical safety at school, as 38% say they fear for their child's safety. Although this is down slightly from the 44% measured last year in the wake of the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting, it is one of the highest readings in Gallup's trend that dates back to 1977. The historical high, 55%, was measured immediately after the 1999 Columbine High School shooting, in which two students killed 12 students and a teacher before committing suicide.  According to Gallup News While parental concern is lower this year than last year, the 38% currently expressing fear exceeds what Gallup measured after the 2006 Amish schoolhouse shooting in Pennsylvania, the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre in Connecticut, and the 2018 Parkland High School shooting in Florida.   Furthermore, One in Seven Parents Say their Child Has Expressed Fear About School Safety A separate question in the survey aims to measure schoolchildren's safety concerns, by asking parents to report whether any of their children have expressed worry about feeling unsafe at school. Fourteen percent of parents currently say their child has. This figure is down from 20% last year, which was one of the highest percentages in Gallup's trend dating back to 1999.   Anna Reger is a champion of women, children and community. When the students from Parkland High School held their rally in Washington D.C. to memorialize the lives taken and the lives forever altered in the shooting that took place at their school in 2017, it was the first time a group of students so visibly rejected the notion that they were powerless in the face of overwhelming gun violence that had gripped the country. The line-up that day was filled with artists from Ariana Grande to Lin-Manuel Miranda to Miley Cyrus. Miley had gone through her own public struggles, but on that day, she was also channeling her alter ego Hannah Montana which is how those kids would have first come to know her. She sang The Climb:There's always gonna be another mountainI'm always gonna want to make it moveAlways gonna be an uphill battleSometimes I'm gonna have to loseAin't about how fast I get thereAin't about what's waiting on the other sideIt's the climb Shannon Flynn joined the Hannah Montana cast and crew from the beginning. First as an assistant, then as an acting coach and finally as a director of the show. For four years she created a set that gave the kids permission to ask questions and to remember that champions adjust. In many ways, her personal journey to becoming a successful director mirrored Miley's lyrics. Shannon openly talks about how she battled imposter syndrome and had to learn to fight for her own ideas as a director. She had to learn to trust her own instincts even when she was unsure of the outcome, even if that outcome meant walking away from being a director. In her life and work, Shannon understood you have to surrender to the climb. The lessons have served her well. When she details how to be successful in a room as the leader, she references a lesson she learned directing Sesame Street, “Honor the process, but don't fear the process. Listen, be humble, ask for help. Then we can collaborate and make something great.”Shannon Flynn on IGShannon Flynn FacebookPatrick's WebsitePatrick on IGAt the Podium on IGPatrick on LinkedIn

For years, I would steal it, she would know it. It was a little bit bigger than me, so I kind of grew into it. We actually moved to Burnsville way up through 309. We're just a little bit outside the Parkland School District, but I refuse to go to Northwestern High School is a different district. So I would ride my bike almost every day to train for wrestling from Burnsville down the back way through down to the old Parkland High School, which is Orefield, and it was just a fantastic ride. 21:30 - I wanted to write for Outside, Men's Health, and Men's Journal which are the ones we talked about. Yeah, they just wouldn't have me. They're like, hey, nice job, kid. Here's a lollipop go read our magazine somewhere else. I was like, well I think I'm a good writer. I think I can handle this and they wouldn't even give me the time of day. So I did my first Triathlon in the fall of 1999. I did the Catalina Island Triathlon off the coast of Los Angeles. I had lost 100 and change pounds to do my first race. I was miserablfe. I was unhappy. So I gained all this weight, a long story, but I ended up losing it all. Because I was training for triathlons. I didn't know I was just running and my knees couldn't sustain me because I was too heavy. So I started biking like I used to, and then, long story short, I'm cycling and swimming and running and someone said you should do a triathlon. I said, okay and I signed up for one in November of 1999. 30:00 - I think clydesdale calss was never closer, I think it was 200 lbs. But regardless, you're talking about whether they were fantastic triathletes or not, they were still athletes, and they're still out there doing it. I don't care how big you are, or if you're like, quote, in shape or out of shape. You have significantly different needs at that size. I mean, just the square inches of pound pressure you put on your feet as you run is just substantially different. So we would talk about things for them, we were the first. There was a woman out of California, her name is Rachel Sears, she was a semi pro athlete, she married a guy named Phil Cosanta. These are names I haven't heard of in years, who was a coach out there. She convinced me that there was a mechanisation in any kind of training called periodization. That is how you peak when you peak, how you put baseballs and so forth, and how you get ready
