Over the four seasons of The Mojo Sessions, some definite themes have appeared. One of those themes concerns high performance, mental performance coaches, and higher standards. The guys at Doublestar, the production team behind The Mojo Sessions, suggested we lockdown a rewind with a collection of mental performance coaches who can share with us the right mindset, tools, techniques, rituals and routines to ensure that the season ahead is everything we hope it to be. It's a long-form episode containing five back-to-back conversations forming a holiday performance 'superset' to help you check in with yourself, set dreams, plan the strategy, raise the bar and be better next year than we were this year. In the first session, we meet Navy Ace Top Gun instructor Bill Driscoll, who 75 is still as sharp as the day he was fighting dog fights in Vietnam. Starts - 00:06:35 Next up is the incredible Mike McCastle. Indeed, one of the sessions had the most impact on me. When you hear Mike, you'll be challenged to make the choice. Do you want to be in the few or be like most? Starts - 01:33:05 Pat McNamara is a guy who always operates at the highest standard. He is planned, intentional, meticulous, articulate, and always looking to push himself. When playing golf, he plays golf; when birdwatching, he just watches birds. His intentionality inspires me the most when looking at Pat Mac's work. Starts - 02:54:10 Dr Jeff Spencer has worked with many Tour de France-winning teams. He created his Champions Blueprint. For Dr Jeff Spencer, it's not just about winning. It's about a sustainable process that wins over the long haul. The Long Game. Starts - 04:02:12 I included Barry O'Reilly, who wrote the book 'Unlearn'. For any of us wanting to level up, we need to unlearn and relearn, let go of some old ways, reset and continue to grow. I took a lot from Barry's session. It's Time to Live in Daily Awareness Friends lets be honest with each other. We truly live in a VUCA world. Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous world. You don't have to read too far in your newspaper, or watch the news casts to see that our world is not what most of us grew up in. This raises the question for all of us: What are we doing to make sure we are ready for the volatility that inevitably will meet us? Do you have a plan when you drive? Do you have a plan when a natural disaster strikes? Or do you just hope that everything will be okay? That's not a plan. And it is not preparedness. The fact is the vast majority of us have no awareness. And when it comes to situational awareness...we have even less. On this episode of A New Direction 13 year veteran in the 1st SFOD-D(Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta) and 22 Years in Special Force Units and the Creator of Basic Dude Stuff Pat McNamara joins us to talk about his book Sentinel. The fact is our awareness is at an all-time low. We drive to work mindlessly. We assume that no one has any reason to bother us. And our awareness is numb. And because our awareness muscle is weak...we become vulnerable. Pat Mac's book "Sentinel: Become the Agent in Charge of Your Own Protection Detail" should be required reading for every human being on the planet. This book speaks to everyday practical things that you can do to build your own self and situational awareness. Whether you are going to the office, the grocery store, taking care of your vehicle, or taking care of your body. This book addresses every area. And for those of you who are looking to improve your self-awareness when it comes to firearms, Pat Mac addresses that too. Sentinel is a book for all people for all time. If you want to improve yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually then get yourself a copy of Sentinel. It's not about paranoia, it's about being prepared. And that takes awareness! In a rapidly and seemingly more dangerous world, it is increasingly important that we strengthen our capabilities by learning and applying new skills in the areas of self-awareness and situational awareness. We have become a society that is quick to outsource our security and expect someone else to save us when we are caught in an unthinkably violent situation. Today's guest is the one and only Patrick McNamara. Pat Mac is a 22-year veteran of the army and spent much of his time in the military in some of the premier special operations units. He retired from the Army's elite hostage rescue unit as a Sergeant Major. Pat Mac has trained some of the best soldiers in the military along with Police officers and civilians in shooting tactics that will better prepare them to fight for their lives should they be caught in lethal situations. Mac is not only a premier teacher and training he is an exceptional author that has the gift of sharing some of the most important information with the world when it comes to firearms training and personal and family safety. He is the author of T.A.P.S. (Tactical Application of Practical Shooting) and Sentinel. When he is not training or spending time with his family you can catch him making hilarious and informative content over on his YouTube channel, Pat Mac. The sabotage of a local substation resulted in a 5+ day blackout in my county. Here's how I was prepared, how I handled it, and what I learned. This clip is taken from my private coaching Squad live stream, and I'm posting it publicly to help others. Special thanks to my business partner and co-host, C.J., for setting up this remote call so I could share this information. Keep in mind that I was talking to my Squad members, so the tone, the attitude, and the humor is because I was speaking with people who I communicate with weekly.
Pat Mac dives into the latest insanity from the woke community about the dangers of "free-range parenting"—in other words, how we grew up. This clip is from the weekly live stream in the Pat Mac Keep the Blaze Alive Coaching Squad. Become a member at https://patreon.com/coachingsquad

Today we hear our first Combat Story from a member of our close partners in New Zealand: Joe Hotai. Joe successfully completed not only the New Zealand SAS Selection and Training Course, but then (likely because he enjoys pain) also went on to complete the Australian SAS Selection and Training course. Joe then served in combat with the Australian SAS in direct action operations. [Support us on Patreon and get exclusive content and insights at www.patreon.com/combatstory]Since leaving the service, Joe overcame a childhood fear of putting himself out there and has created two podcasts (the Epich Podcast which explores people making a positive change in the world - and which he has graciously invited me to be on - and the Move Sweat Suffer Podcast which promotes a more healthy way of life). Joe has also co-founded the Mill Gym in Australia and is the founder of Zero Alpha, which puts on ultra endurance events combining some of the experiences from his time in Special Operations, and is also a consultant. His YouTube channel is full of pragmatic workouts that remind me of Pat Mac!Joe has an incredibly humble persona with a great sense of humor. In fact, he's described himself as ‘imperfect, annoying, and striving to improve as a husband, father, and human being on a daily basis.” I hope you enjoy this interview of highs and lows and overcoming difficult situations from someone at the forefront of the Special Operations community, as much as I did. Joining us in Episode 12 is a true “professor of badassery,” Tony Blauer, founder Blauer Tactical Systems which is considered one of the most respected self-defense training companies in the world. How respected is Tony? So much so that in the 90s, Pat Mac brought Tony out to work with the Tier 1 unit at Fort Bragg which created a longstanding relationship between Blauer and America's most elite special forces unit. From Blauer's website: “Coach Blauer has been in the martial art, self-defense, defensive tactics and combatives industry for almost four decades and is one of the only Combatives experts who has successfully affected training across all the combat related communities: self-defense, combat sports and the military & law enforcement sector. His research on physiology, mind-set as it relates to confrontation management has influenced over three decades of reality-based martial artists. Blauer Tactical Systems (BTS) specializes in the research and development of close quarter tactics & scenario-based training for law enforcement, military and professional self-defense.” What's great about this episode is that Tony goes even deeper into the mind body connection and breaks down fear like no other. And since he and Mac share a 20+ year friendship, Tony had free reign to blow our minds! Physically, mentally, and spiritually I love to be challenged. I push myself to near physical exhaustion everyday. I love it, however my wife fears for my health and thinks I overdo it. How do I continue this path but be aware of real limitations? When would it be too much? 2. How will guys do things differently after this pandemic? 3. For Mac, how would you advise someone go about purchasing their first firearm? I know I should take a class, but how should I approach this? Seems like there's so much to know. 4. Do you listen to albums or playlists. 5. Why don't you guys start a band? 6. What's Mac's morning routine? 7. Did Mac ever consider joining law enforcement after retirement? 8. How are you guys going to greet people after this? Shake hands anymore? 9. During the lockdown I've been letting my emotions get the better of me. Any tips? 10. What do you guys think about the protests to re-open America? Should we be concerned about government? I can get the job, however, I will be explaining the dumb shit I've done in my past (specifically smoking weed for damn near 20 years and breaking into a convenience store after hours and robbing the cash register). I'm not that guy anymore and I was wondering how you would articulate that, and the fact I'd like to make up for my less than honorable past. How do you make real-world statements to political entities (they operate in the black and white, the rest of the world lives in the grey)? 2. Hey, big fan of the podcast. My friends and I were discussing this today and I thought it would be a great question/ discussion topic for the podcast: 5 finger death punch seems to me like it is becoming the Nickleback of metal. Everyone will listen to them but no one really wants to admit it. Do y'all see this as a trend, and if so why do you think that is? 3. Hello! I have another question, again about minimums. Considering the idea of the combat chassis, of course, we always strive for more and better, but what would be a good minimum body fat % to strive for? 3% is very hard, 25% is too much. 4. I've never had much interest in hobbies and Mac says he's “hobby heavy.” Does he think something like that can be developed in someone who isn't into hobbies? He makes it look like a blast. 5. How does Mac maintain his cool dealing with dumb questions… like this one?! 6. What's something about either one of you that most people don't know? 7. What do you guys think about events like concerts now? They're saying that may not come back until 2021. 8. What's the most important thing(s) to start teaching my kids about being sentinels themselves? Or more aware? 9. I'm struggling with my attitude and negativity during this crisis? Honestly, I'm anxious about it for me and my family. How do I deal with this? 10. Learning to love heavy metal, but it's weirding my wife out. What I do, dudes?! How do I explain it to her? In this episode, Stan and Mike talk with firearms instructor and combat strength training founder Pat McNamara. If you don't follow Mac online, then find him @tmacsinc on Instagram, or check him out on YouTube under Pat Mac. This is a great podcast, and the three talk about his book, the Sentinel, and more! Patrick McNamara spent 22 years in the United States Army in a myriad of special operations units. When he worked in the premier special missions unit, he became an impeccable marksman, shooting with accurate, lethal results and tactical effectiveness.McNamara has trained tactical applications of shooting to people of all levels of marksmanship, from varsity level soldiers, and police officers who work the streets to civilians with little to no time behind the trigger. His military experience quickly taught him that there is more to tactical marksmanship than merely squeezing the trigger. Utilizing his years of experience, McNamara developed a training methodology that is safe, effective, and combat relevant and encourages a continuous thought process. This methodology teaches how to maintain safety at all times and choose targets that force accountability, as well as provides courses covering several categories, including individual, collective, online, and standards. While serving as his Unit's Marksmanship NCO, he developed his own marksmanship club with NRA, CMP, and USPSA affiliations. Mac ran monthly IPSC matches and ran semi annual military marksmanship championships to encourage marksmanship fundamentals and competitiveness throughout the Army.
Mickey talks with Patrick McNamara (aka Pat Mac) about his background, hardcore lifestyle and unique training methodology. Pat spent 22 years in the US Army Special Forces. In retirement he formed TMACS inc., which stands for Tactics, Marksmanship, Adventure, Concepts and Security. In addition to holistic firearms training he's designed a solid combat strength training program. To learn more about Pat Mac check out TMACSinc.com or follow him on Instagram at @TMACSinc. lexington, SC I attended Pat McNamara’s two day tactical shooting, combat strength training, vehicle safety, home safety, and performance based mindset course at Sorinex Tactical Farm just outside of Lexington, South Carolina. This was a great course and Pat Mac is a fantastic instructor. Safety and immediately applicable ideas, strategies, and tactics are his specialty. If you saw Pat on the Joe Rogan show, or have been following him for a while, then you must take one of his courses.
