GDP Script/ Top Stories for April 3rd Publish Date: April 3rd From the BG AD Group Studio Welcome to the Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. Today is Thursday, April 3rd and Happy birthday to Marlon Brando ***04.03.25 - BIRTHDAY – MARLON BRANDO*** I’m Peyton Spurlock and here are your top stories presented by KIA Mall of Georgia. Student teaching preparing Georgia Gwinnett College students for career in education Gwinnett seeking grant to upgrade pond at Shorty Howell Park Gwinnett planning pedestrian improvements at two I-85 overpasses Plus, Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on seed oils All of this and more is coming up on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen daily and subscribe! Break 1: 07.14.22 KIA MOG STORY 1: Student teaching preparing Georgia Gwinnett College students for career in education The teaching profession in Georgia is projected to grow 11% by 2030, and Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) is preparing future educators to meet this demand. Graduating in May, Sumayyah Yoonas and Natalia Diaz Vega share unique journeys to teaching, inspired by personal experiences and a passion for helping students. GGC alumnus Dustin Wilson, now a fifth-grade teacher, emphasizes the rewards of fostering student growth. The role of AI in education is also evolving, with these educators using it for lesson planning, critical thinking, and student engagement while encouraging balanced use. STORY 2: Gwinnett seeking grant to upgrade pond at Shorty Howell Park Gwinnett County commissioners approved applying for an $808,830 grant to upgrade Shorty Howell Park's natural landscape. The project will replace the park's aging pond with a stormwater wetland and rain garden, improving stormwater management, water quality, and aesthetics while serving as an educational resource. If awarded, the county will contribute $539,220 in matching funds. STORY 3: Gwinnett planning pedestrian improvements at two I-85 overpasses Gwinnett County plans to enhance pedestrian safety on two bridges over I-85 by adding fencing and new crosswalks at Center Way and Brook Hollow Parkway. The $4.78 million project, funded by the 2017 SPLOST program, was awarded to E.R. Snell Contractor Inc. and is expected to take 130 days to complete after work begins. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We’ll be right back Break 2: MONSTER JAM STORY 4: Federal judge sides with Georgia in 'water wars' with Alabama Georgia secured another legal victory in its "water wars" as a federal judge upheld the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' 2021 decision to allocate more water from Lake Allatoona to meet metro Atlanta and Bartow County's needs. Alabama's challenge was dismissed, with the court citing negligible impacts on Alabama's water supply. This ruling follows decades of litigation and complements Georgia's 2021 Supreme Court win over Florida regarding water consumption impacts. Officials praised the decision, emphasizing responsible water management and collaboration among stakeholders. STORY 5: Economic development researcher expects local, state economies to outperform nation Metro Atlanta and Georgia are expected to outperform the national economy due to strong investments in logistics, healthcare, ports, and manufacturing recovery, according to Alfie Meek of Georgia Tech's Economic Development Research. However, challenges like persistent inflation, high mortgage rates, and slow wage growth in low-wage sectors remain nationwide. Meek also predicts slight unemployment increases and limited Federal Reserve rate cuts. Despite this, U.S. manufacturing shows promise with fewer regulations and lower energy costs. Over 200 Gwinnett business leaders attended the event, aiming to leverage these insights for sustained growth. Break 3: Ingles Markets 9 And now here is Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on seed oils *** INGLES ASK LEAH (SEED OILS)*** We’ll have closing comments after this Break 4: MONSTER JAM Signoff – Thanks again for hanging out with us on today’s Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. In this episode of "Sara Gonzales Unfiltered," Sara breaks down a range of political and national issues, starting with the stark contrast in leadership between Donald Trump and the Biden-Harris administration during Hurricane Helene. While Trump plans a visit to the devastated areas, Biden dismissively said “no more resources” will be sent to victims, leaving Americans stranded. Kamala Harris, campaigning in Las Vegas instead of showing leadership, posted a staged photo pretending to work. Sara urges viewers, "Choose your fighter, America," as weak leadership pushes the nation closer to WWIII. Next, Sara tackles newly released ICE data revealing over 425,000 convicted criminals, including murderers and sexual offenders, entering the U.S. under Biden's lax border policies. Sara also highlights the DOJ's lawsuit against Alabama for removing non-citizens from voter rolls, further exposing the "great replacement" of lawful voters. Later in the show, Sara discusses JD Vance being banned from Primanti Bros in Pennsylvania for a campaign stop, contrasting it with Kamala Harris' welcome at the same venue. Despite the controversy, Vance paid for everyone's meals and handled the situation with class, which Sara and her guest commend. Sara also brings in her husband, Steven, fresh from the Alabama-Georgia game, where Donald Trump made an appearance. Steven shares the excitement of seeing Trump, the overwhelming support he received, and the comical sight of a lonely Democratic tent at the event. Despite misleading videos trying to frame the moment as full of boos, Steven sets the record straight, stating the crowd was largely pro-Trump. Sara is joined by Blaze Media investigative journalist Steve Baker and Blaze TV contributor Matthew Marsden. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Politics: The political ads are out of control. Kamala Harris is tough on the border now. Donald Trump tossed out some chicken fingers at the Alabama Georgia game. Tim Walz got booed at The Big House. Trump is hocking $100k watches and silver coins. How are Trump's NFT's performing? Abortion is SO HOT right now. The VP Debate is coming up and no one cares. DJ Khaled appeared on Big Noon Kickoff and did DJ Khaled things. Jaguar Wright is coming hard for Diddy. Tony Buzbee, who sued Deshawn Watson, is representing victims of Diddy. Kendra Wilkinson LOVED his parties, but is sad for the victims. We attempt to reach Joe Buck in Detroit before tomorrow night's game. Music: Las Vegas is really mad at Green Day. Josh Klinghoffer is in some deep trouble if he can't weasel out of manslaughter. Shania Twain looks really different. Beyoncé won ZERO of the 17 awards she was nominated for at The People's Choice Awards. Drew vs Medicare. Marc's girls mad him attend a Taylor Swift event at the Masonic Temple. BranDon hit up the Dropkick Murphy's show at The Fillmore. MORE videos continue to go viral of Frankie Valli looking like a corpse on-stage. Drew is reading up on ‘Anal Botox'. Kate Beckinsale needs more attention and is battling her ‘trauma healer'. Chappell Roan needs a mental health break and cancels a show the day before it was scheduled. Kurt Cobain is a grandpa to the coolest named kid. “Drew Blows” popped up on the Mr. McMahon documentary. Stuttering John Melendez takes shots at Drew on a recent podcast. Drew Crime: 48 Hours covered a husband who is a really bad actor. Dateline aired the crimes of Muhammad Altantawi a couple weeks back. We're sick and tired of all the Menendez Brothers excuses. The Tigers will play the Houston Astros in the MLB Wild Card round of the playoffs. RIP Kris Kristofferson. Check out this naked guy running amok. We dive into the story.
