Today is a day to honor the incredible women in our lives, especially our mothers, who have not only given us physical life but have also often been the ones to share the life-changing truth of a relationship with Jesus. Their faithfulness and resilience have left a legacy that continues to shape us and our church. As we celebrate them, we also reflect on what it means to be resilient people—those who, when knocked down by life, don't stay down but bounce back, not in our own strength, but because of the treasure God has placed within us.Resilience is not just about enduring hardship; it's about the art of bouncing back. Using the imagery of a tennis ball and an egg, we see that while everyone gets knocked down, not everyone gets back up. The difference is not in the strength of the container, but in the value and power of what's inside. Paul, writing to the Corinthians, reminds us that we are like fragile clay jars, but within us is the greatest treasure—the gospel, the very presence of Jesus Christ. This treasure gives us forgiveness for our past, security for our future, and power for today.Paul's life was a testimony to resilience. He endured beatings, shipwrecks, hunger, and emotional burdens, yet he never gave up. Why? Because he understood the value of the treasure within him and the ripple effect his faithfulness would have on others. Ministry is not just for pastors or missionaries; every believer is called to pour into others—at home, at work, and in every sphere of life. The pain and setbacks we experience are not pointless; when surrendered to Christ, they become platforms for His glory and opportunities for others to see what true faithfulness looks like. The key to resilience is not focusing on our own fragility, but on the surpassing power of God at work in us. Our present troubles, though real and painful, are small compared to the eternal glory that awaits. We are called to fix our eyes not on what is seen and temporary, but on what is unseen and eternal. In our weakness, God's strength is made perfect, and our faithfulness leaves a legacy that outlasts our lives.[00:00] - Welcome[01:00] - Honoring Mothers and Their Spiritual Legacy[03:19] - The Art of Bouncing Back: Tennis Ball vs. Egg[06:30] - Paul and the Church at Corinth: Context and Struggles[08:53] - Hard Conversations and the Risk of Truth[10:32] - Religion vs. Relationship with Jesus[12:27] - God's Mercy and the Call to Never Give Up[14:48] - Pressed but Not Crushed: Paul's Couplets[17:19] - Ministry as Every Believer's Calling[19:37] - Disappointments and Setbacks in Ministry[22:35] - Paul's Resume of Resilience[28:26] - The Treasure in Fragile Clay Jars[32:36] - The Gospel: Forgiveness, Security, and Power[38:48] - Athletic Imagery: Wrestling and Boxing in Faith[40:22] - Nikki's Story: Real-Life Resilience[50:30] - The Ripple Effect of Faithfulness[52:29] - Shifting Perspective to the Eternal[54:00] - Invitation to Receive the Treasure and Prayer

Enriching Memory Care: Meaningful Mind Stimulation for Wellbeing. Memory care is a specialized type of elder care tailored for the needs of individuals with Alzheimer's, dementia and other types of memory issues. Deterioration of memory for those affected can often be distressing, one crucial aspect that healthcare providers and families must not overlook is the importance of engaging in activities that promote brain health. Despite the misconception that mental engagement is futile for those in memory care settings, it's essential to recognize that mental stimulation goes beyond retaining new information. Instead, the goal is meaningful engagement to stimulate the mind. It is imperative that we employ creative strategies not only for brain health but also for overall well-being and quality of life. About Our Guest Join me for an insightful conversation with Dr. Crystal Culler of the Virtual Brain Health Center as we journey through the vast and often unexplored terrain of brain health, particularly in relation to memory care. Drawing from her personal experience with dementia in her family, Dr. Culler shares her wisdom on mental stimulation, the importance of engagement, and the surprising benefits of everyday activities like enjoying a day at the park. Additionally, we discuss the various aspects of memory care, from creating rewarding experiences to facilitating movements and adjusting care strategies. Throughout this episode, Dr. Culler and I share our unique experiences and insights on different family dynamics and relationships that can influence care strategies. We discuss navigating the challenges and rewards of caring for loved ones with dementia. I'm beyond excited to share this week's Flourish or Fold episode with you! I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with the incredible Adley Kinsman, CEO and founder of Viralish and prominent entertainer who garners over a billion social media views every month. The conversation delved deep into Adley's journey as an entrepreneur, her experiences in the entertainment industry, and the resilience that has driven her success. She emphasizes the importance of viewing obstacles as testimonies rather than setbacks and highlights the significance of serving others. Adley also delves into the concept of going viral, explaining her systematic approach to creating viral content. The conversation underscores the transformative power of resilience and the impact of shifting from a victim mentality to one of empowerment and purpose. Adley's journey is a testament to the power of resilience, passion, the importance of serving others and the power of following your passion.Understanding Virality - What Does It Mean to Go Viral?: Adley emphasizes that the concept of "going viral" is subjective and varies from person to person. For some, a post with 40,000 views might be considered viral, while for others, the benchmark might be in the millions. At Viralish, Adley and her team consider anything over a million views as potentially viral, with a more stringent standard of 15 million views and above for true virality.Mastering Storytelling: At the core of Viralish's success is their mastery of storytelling. Whether it's prank videos, staged events, or branded content, the goal is to create compelling narratives that resonate with the audience and achieve the desired outcome. From Passion to Profession - Adley's Journey - The Early Days: Adley's journey began with a passion for creating videos and storytelling. Despite not making any money initially, she continued to produce content because she loved it. This passion for storytelling was rooted in her background in the music industry, where she learned the importance of crafting compelling narratives. The Turning Point: The pivotal moment for Adley came in 2019-2020 when Facebook introduced monetization for content creators. Recognizing the potential, Adley focused on creating videos for Facebook, where the largest audience was. By studying the platform's algorithm and continuously improving her content, she was able to capitalize on this opportunity and turn her passion into a profitable business.Resilience in the Face of Adversity - Overcoming Challenges: Adley shares her personal story of resilience, highlighting the massive obstacles she faced, including bankruptcy, a toxic relationship, and a close family member's struggle with alcoholism. Despite these challenges, she chose to view her experiences as a testimony rather than adopting a victim mindset. The Power of Service: One of the key lessons Adley learned was the importance of serving and helping others. She found that focusing on others was the quickest way to pull herself out of difficult situations and regain a sense of purpose and direction. The Law of Resonance: Adley believes in the law of resonance, which emphasizes becoming the person ready to handle the things one desires, rather than just willing them into existence. This mindset shift from "where do I want to be?" to "who do I want to be?" has been instrumental in her journey.Building Viralish - From Hobby to Business: Viralish was born out of Adley's passion for creating content and her deep understanding of social media algorithms. By packaging her knowledge and experiences into accessible coaching programs, she has been able to help individuals and brands achieve viral success.Coaching Programs: Adley encourages individuals to take advantage of the group coaching program available at goviralish.com. For brands with annual revenue of 5 to 10 million, she invites them to reach out to creators at com for potential collaboration.Transforming Adversity into Empowerment - Shifting Perspectives: Dr. Taryn Marie highlights the importance of shifting from a victim mentality to recognizing the lessons learned from adversity. This shift in perspective from "why is this happening to me?" to "why is this happening for me?" can have a transformative impact on one's life.Adley's energy and insights are truly uplifting. She embodies the shift from asking "why is this happening to me?" to "why is this happening for me?" It's a powerful perspective that can transform adversity into empowerment. Her insights on virality, storytelling, and overcoming adversity provide valuable lessons for anyone looking to succeed in the digital age. By focusing on who you want to be and continuously improving your craft, you can turn your passion into a profitable and fulfilling career.Connect with Adley Kinsman: Adley invites you to connect with her on social media and through her website to explore the valuable resources available at Viralish: https://goviralish.com/https://www.instagram.com/adleyhttps://www.instagram.com/viralish/https://www.instagram.com/viralishhouse/https://www.linkedin.com/in/adleykinsman/https://www.facebook.com/adleyk/ Here are some highlights of the episode to look forward to:Introduction (00:00:57): Dr. Taryn Marie introduces Adley and her achievements in the entertainment and business industry. Resilience as a Subject (00:01:45): Adley and Dr. Taryn Marie discuss the importance of resilience and its relevance to their conversation. Understanding Viral Content (00:02:29): Adley explains the subjective nature of "going viral" and its significance for brands. The Journey to Entrepreneurship (00:05:34): Adley shares her journey from creating videos for fun to developing a systematic formula for success. Transition to Business Success (00:07:16): Adley discusses the transition from creating content for fun to realizing the potential for business success. Preparation and Opportunity (00:11:15): Dr. Taryn Marie and Adley discuss the importance of preparation meeting opportunity for success. Facing Challenges and Resilience (00:14:36): Dr. Taryn Marie shares her own journey and the relevance of resilience in her work, leading into a discussion on facing challenges and resilience. Adley's Resilience Story (00:17:11): Adley shares a personal story of facing challenges and reframing herself to overcome difficult times. The Voice Experience (00:18:21): Adley narrates the story of how she ended up on the show "The Voice" and the impact it had on her life. God's Whisper (00:20:51): Adley shares a significant moment of hearing a divine message that impacted her life. Struggling after the deal (00:21:46): Adley's bankruptcy, relationship issues, and family struggles after signing a challenging record deal. Choosing resilience (00:22:37): Adley's decision to use her pain as fuel and help others win, leading to her own recovery. Resilience and serving others (00:24:23): Adley and Dr. Taryn Marie discuss the power of resilience and serving others in overcoming challenges. Moving forward with resilience (00:25:23): Adley shares the importance of focusing on serving others and the impact of service on personal well-being. Strategies for overcoming challenges (00:26:29): Dr. Taryn Marie and Adley discuss tools and strategies for navigating difficult moments and moving towards personal growth. Embracing uncertainty (00:27:32): Adley's approach to living in the present and focusing on personal development rather than specific goals. Becoming resilient (00:28:21): Adley emphasizes the importance of taking action and avoiding overthinking to overcome anxiety and uncertainty. Being the person you want to be (00:28:47): Adley's perspective on focusing on personal integrity and growth rather than external achievements. Sharing resilience with the world (00:35:53): Adley and Dr. Taryn Marie discuss the timeless principles of resilience and the importance of sharing valuable lessons with others. Working with Adley (00:36:46): Adley explains how individuals and brands can work with her to create viral content and receive coaching. Transitioning from victim mentality (00:40:16): Dr. Taryn Marie highlights Adley's transition from feeling victimized to using her experiences to help others. Prayer and Purpose (00:40:31): Adley discusses her prayer for guidance and purpose, feeling blessed and burdened by success, and seeking clarity on how to serve. Shifting Perspective (00:43:34): Dr. Taryn Marie reflects on the power of shifting from "why is this happening to me" to "why is this happening for me" and the impact of sharing learnings through challenges.

Today I am chatting with Stacy Benge, an early childhood speaker who approaches learning in the early years with practicality and common sense. Stacy is the author of the new book, The Whole Child Alphabet: How Young Children Actually Develop Literacy, published by Exchange Press. Listen as we talk about how young children actually develop literacy skills.  Key Takeaways:  Understanding the Role of Alphabet in Literacy: Stacy and Kristen emphasize that while the alphabet is important for literacy, it's just one component among many. Shifting Perspective on Alphabet Learning: Stacy suggests instead of viewing alphabet learning as a matter of teaching, to see it as a process of development. Children need to develop foundational skills before they can effectively learn the alphabet, and play-based activities support this development. Encouraging Play-Based Learning Environments: Stacy and Kristen give ideas on how to create environments rich in open-ended materials and opportunities for child-led play. These environments support the development of literacy skills in a natural and meaningful way. Balancing Play-Based Learning with Curriculum Requirements: Stacy and Kristen acknowledge the challenge of balancing play-based learning with curriculum requirements. Stacy suggests finding ways to incorporate play into structured activities and advocating for the importance of play in achieving curriculum goals. Are you feeling the pressure that children need to learn the alphabet in certain ways that doesn't feel developmentally appropriate? Then this episode is for you and the stakeholders in your program. It's important to acknowledge that not everyone experiences the same level of distress, but for those who do, it can be quite challenging. Often, people turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms because they feel overwhelmed and can't access other options. To break free from this cycle, we introduce the concept of radical acceptance. It's a combination of cognitive restructuring, acceptance, and mindfulness. By recognizing the reality of our current situation without blame or anger, we can regain control and make better decisions. Letting go of self-judgment and self-criticism is essential, as it only perpetuates the cycle of anxiety. Instead, we suggest using coping statements like "this is what it is" and "I can't change what has already happened" to shift our focus and find ways to move forward. We often find ourselves dwelling on the past, wishing we could change things and blaming ourselves for our mistakes. But radical acceptance teaches us to let go of blame and anger and understand that our present circumstances are the result of a series of events, not a single situation. When we fight with the past, we only fuel our stress response and drain our energy. Instead, we need to focus on the present moment, because that's where we have control and the power to take action. Even if we don't like what's happening, we have to accept that this moment is perfect because it's happening. We can't change the past or predict the future, but we can make clear decisions and take action in the present. It's important to avoid getting caught up in worrying about what might happen and instead bring ourselves back to what is happening now. Learn more about your ad choices. Hey there!  Today, I had an amazing conversation with Anatoliy Levinsky, an e-commerce expert, entrepreneur, and a four-time Two Comma Club Award winner. Anatoliy is the founder of GSM Growth, an agency that helps e-commerce entrepreneurs level up their businesses. Anatoliy's Website: https://anatoliylabinskiy.com/ I was genuinely blown away by our discussion. We delved into Anatoliy's journey, filled with ups and downs, successes and failures, which is a fundamental part of being an entrepreneur. We even talked about his co-founding of EcomScout.io, an AI-powered service that provides real-time data and insights to optimize advertising campaigns. And I must mention, during our conversation, Anatoliy's adorable little son made a cameo appearance, adding a touch of warmth and authenticity. What I really appreciated about this conversation was Anatoliy's authenticity and passion. His story is one of resilience and determination, coming from a background with financial struggles. He shared how he started working at a young age to support his family and fund his education. His journey took him from Ukraine to Dubai, where he initially worked in hospitality. In 2013, Anatoliy had a life-changing opportunity. He secured a job in Abu Dhabi and took a leap of faith to embark on a journey to the UAE. His story of working tirelessly, adapting to new environments, and constantly striving for more is nothing short of inspiring. Anatoliy's commitment to self-improvement is evident in how he transformed his life. The turning point in Anatoliy's life came when he read "Rich Dad Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki. It completely shifted his perspective on wealth, entrepreneurship, and the importance of not working solely for someone else's gain. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of his journey as an entrepreneur. Anatoliy's story is a testament to the power of resilience and determination. It's a reminder that success is not always a linear path but a series of challenges that, with the right mindset, can be transformed into opportunities. I truly believe that there's something valuable to learn from Anatoliy's journey, and I hope that his story inspires you as much as it inspired me. Thank you for tuning in and joining us for this incredible episode. Stay curious and never stop believing in your own potential!  @ecombyanatoliy   -

In this episode of The Brainy Business podcast, host Melina Palmer interviews Brian Lowery, a professor at Stanford Graduate School of Business, on the topic of how our behavior impacts others and vice versa. Brian emphasizes that we have agency in shaping the people we interact with, and that our behavior can have a significant impact on others. By recognizing that our sense of self is constructed through relationships, we can cultivate empathy and understanding for others. This can enhance our interpersonal relationships and lead to more effective communication and collaboration. The conversation also touches on the concept of social contagion and how emotions can be contagious in social interactions, highlighting the potential for even fleeting interactions to have significant effects. Throughout the episode, Brian provides insights and practical advice for leaders and individuals to enhance their ability to connect with others and navigate the complexities of human relationships.  In this episode: Understand the flexibility of personal identity and its profound influence on individuals. Discover the cyclical impact of individual behavior on communal dynamics and vice versa. Learn the importance of acknowledging and taking charge of your contribution to interpersonal relationships. Realize the far-reaching effects of minor social engagements on individual attitudes and office culture. Recognize the significance of empathy and perspective shift in successful communication. Show Notes: 00:00:00 - Introduction to Dr. Brian Lowery, Dr. Brian Lowery, author of Selfless, discusses his background and research on how people make sense of the self. He explains that our sense of self is a construction of relationships, social interactions, and culture, rather than an individual entity. 00:06:00 - Shifting Identities Throughout the Day, Brian and Melina talk about how our identities shift throughout the day in response to different relationships and social contexts. Brian emphasizes that these shifts are not just masks we put on, but rather a fundamental part of our flexibility as human beings. 00:10:15 - Influence of Others on Our Sense of Self, Lowery explores how our sense of self is influenced by others, often in ways we are not consciously aware of. He discusses studies that show how our attitudes and beliefs can change based on what we think others expect of us. This demonstrates the degree of flexibility in who we are and who we can be. 00:12:59 - Importance of Understanding the Self, Brian explains that understanding the nature of the self is fascinating and awe-inspiring, even if there is no specific action to be taken with this knowledge. Recognizing the fluidity and complexity of the self can reshape how we approach our lives and relationships. 00:14:36 - The Construction of People, Brian emphasizes that our interactions with others contribute to the construction of the people we engage with. He encourages individuals to reflect on their contribution to relationships and take responsibility for their impact on others' behavior. 00:15:38 - Shifting Perspective, Lowery challenges the conventional notion of individuals as isolated islands who can choose to listen or not. Instead, he suggests that our actions and words impose decisions on others, highlighting the power and responsibility we have in shaping their responses. 00:19:43 - The Ripple Effect, Brian discusses how seemingly small interactions can have lasting effects. Melina shares a personal experience of receiving a seemingly innocuous email from a boss that had a significant impact on her mindset and subsequent interactions. She emphasizes the importance of considering the broader impact of our actions. 00:22:26 - The Impact of Audience, Brian explores the concept of audience impact, highlighting how even imagined readers influenced his writing process. He notes that our behavior and words can have a ripple effect, influencing the emotions and actions of those around us, often in ways we may not fully comprehend. 00:25:07 - The Power of Leadership Communication, Brian and Melina discuss the heightened impact of leaders' behaviors and communications. They emphasize that leaders' actions are scrutinized for information, and even seemingly minor interactions can have significant effects on team members and office culture. 00:28:47 - The Importance of the Receiver, Communication is about influencing and changing the behavior of the person you're communicating with. The receiver is the only person that matters because if they don't understand or take what you intended, you have failed in your communication goals. 00:29:19 - Recognizing Others' Perspectives, People often struggle to recognize that others may experience a situation differently than they do. It's important to be curious and try to understand the reasoning behind someone's behavior, even if it's surprising or upsetting to you. 00:31:41 - Curiosity and Self-Reflection, Curiosity is a powerful tool for understanding others. Instead of relying on assumptions, engage with someone to understand their experiences. Additionally, ask yourself how you may be contributing to a situation and recognize your agency in it. 00:32:32 - Addressing Confirmation Bias, It's challenging to get someone to see their own confirmation bias.
