From homework and essays to exam revision and project work, AI is quickly becoming part of how young people learn. But as tools like ChatGPT become more common, parents and educators are grappling with a difficult question: where is the line between learning and outsourcing the work? Is AI helping children build new skills, or making it easier to skip the thinking process altogether? As classrooms adapt to a new technological reality, we ask what responsible AI use should actually look like for the next generation. In this episode, Jamie and Heather explore the simple yet impactful ways we can practice invitation, inclusion, and intentional kindness in our everyday lives. Today, I'm speaking with Rivky Rothenberg. Rivky is a CPA and financial coach who helps families make sense of their money and build a strong, values-based financial foundation. She works with couples to create clear, practical systems at home so they can raise children with healthy money habits and avoid the patterns that lead to entitlement. She also guides engaged and newlywed couples through the early financial decisions that shape their future, helping them get organized, communicate well, and start off on the same page. Drawing on her background in accounting and years of hands-on experience, Rivky focuses on giving families both clarity and tools—so they can feel confident in their finances and in the example they're setting for the next generation.I loved speaking with Rivky because money is one of those things that is still a bit taboo and nice to speak about with a real professional, someone who has seen a lot and can speak from that experience. In the episode, we speak about:-How she got into financial coaching-The language we can use to speak to our kids about money even from a young age so they develop a healthy mindset around it.-How to speak to teens and older kids about money in a way that makes sense to them and teaches them the value of it-How to deal with money differences that come up in marriage, which almost always happens as each person comes in with their own money styles, backgrounds and triggers-How to develop more emunah and bitachon into your money mindset…and so much more! For more from Rivky or to work with her, visit rivkyrothenberg.com.
Screens do more than entertain children; they shape habits, identity, attention, and belonging. In this episode of Facing the Dark, Wayne and Dr. Kathy unpack new health concerns about rising screen use among kids and teens while exploring the deeper heart needs driving attachment to technology. They discuss why screens often become substitutes for security and identity, while offering parents practical ways to rebuild rhythms that strengthen real connection and healthy character formation.
In this episode, Kelsi Sheren discusses the brainwashing of younger generations, focusing on how educational systems and societal influences have led to a collapse of resilience and personal responsibility. She critiques the moral engineering in education, the ideological shifts in universities, and the conditioning of self-blame among youth. Kelsi emphasizes the intentionality behind these changes and the need for awareness and action to counteract them.Chapters00:00 Introduction and Overview of the Series01:30 The Brainwashing of Generations04:51 The Collapse of Resilience08:17 Moral Engineering in Education10:36 The Ideological Shift in Universities12:57 The Conditioning of Self-Blame and Ambition - - - - - - - - - - - -One Time Donation! - Paypal - https://paypal.me/brassandunityBuy me a coffee! - https://buymeacoffee.com/kelsisherenLet's connect!Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/@thekelsisherenperspectiveInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/thekelsisherenperspective?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw%3D%3DX: https://x.com/KelsiBurnsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/kelsie_sheren/Substack: https://substack.com/@kelsisherenTikTok - https://x.com/KelsiBurnsSUPPORT OUR SPONSORS - - - - - - - - - - - -MasterPeace - 10% off with code KELSI - http://www.MasterPeace.Health/KelsiKetone IQ- 30% off with code KELSI - https://ketone.com/KELSIGood Livin - 20% off with code KELSI - https://www.itsgoodlivin.com/?ref=KELSIBrass & Unity - 20% off with code UNITY - http://brassandunity.com
As adults, we're still dealing with grown people who act like kids — drama, gossip, jealousy, comparison, and dishonesty. It makes you pause and ask… what are we teaching our own children? In this episode, I share reflections as a parent (not a parenting expert) who has watched the world completely change since the 80s and the rise of the internet. The pressure on our kids is different now — louder, faster, and constant. But the most important lessons are still simple. In This Episode: Teaching kids to stay out of drama and gossip Learning to say no and protect their time and energy Giving themselves grace when they mess up Choosing good energy and healthy boundaries Remembering social media isn't real life Why quality friendships matter more than quantity Paying attention to what fills them up vs. drains them How they start their day shapes everything Hope is a choice — and you can always choose again We can't control the world they're growing up in. But we can help shape how they move through it.Simple daily choices matter — movement, nourishing food, time in prayer, quiet time, getting outside.Sometimes our kids just need permission to know there is another way — and they will be okay.
In this episode, I'm sharing what Sierra and I try to do at home to help our kids learn how to talk through big feelings, conflict, and mistakes. Nothing perfect. Just real-life tools we come back to: apologizing when we miss it, teaching them to calm their body first, letting them work things out with boundaries, helping them ask for what they need, and teaching perspective. Because the goal isn't “well-behaved kids.” The goal is kids who feel safe telling you the hard stuff. Our kids are undoubtedly growing up in a turbulent time. From the war in Israel to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, they're seeing and hearing about death, chaos, and violence everywhere they turn. It's tempting as parents to try to shield them, to protect them from the evils of the world, but is that actually biblical? Today on Fearless we're talking about the importance of teaching our children to face the world without fear—equipping them to walk in confidence and courage in the times God has placed them. Our kids see what's going on in the world, even if we do our best to limit screen time or not talk about current events at the dinner table. So instead of shielding them, let's equip them with Scriptural truth and the God-given courage to combat the lies of the enemy and confront whatever is thrown their way. I hope this episode leaves you with practical takeaways for walking with your kids into the hard stuff—I promise you they can handle it, they were made for such a time as this.
In a world full of noise, distractions, and dopamine-triggering apps, Dr. Kathy Koch and Wayne Stender talk about how parents can help kids rediscover the gift of focus — and why staying faithful to one task is an act of worship that builds character and identity.

We're diving into one of the trickiest—and most talked-about—topics in modern motherhood: snacks. In this episode, we unpack the cultural obsession with constant snacking, how it impacts our kids' health (and appetites), and why we've made it a priority to rethink the way we snack in our homes. We share what's actually working in our families, how we set snack boundaries without shame, the importance of protein and fat in between meals, and why saying “no” to endless snacks isn't mean—it's loving. If you've ever felt stuck between feeding your kids something or fighting a snack battle every afternoon, this conversation will meet you right where you are.

When I joined my current chorale four years ago, I had no idea that decision would take me to Carnegie Hall, but it did and it was amazing!

Similar to talking to our kids about sex, we often struggle with talking to our kids about money. This may require us to be vulnerable, which is not something we enjoy doing as men. This may require us to learn, which is a challenge seeing we like to show off all of the t-shirts we have accumulated from our experiences. This also requires us to make adjustments for our kids, even if we think we have things figured out. Today, I am joined by Taylor Kovar, CEO & Founder of 11 Financial, to gain wisdom on how we can talk to our kids about money in a way that will truly help them. Here's what we discuss: The different money personalities Common practices of parents that might not be so good The value of relationship within the money talks You can learn more about having money conversations with your kids and get access to assessments and resources from Taylor and his wife by visiting www.themoneycouple.com.
