We're diving into one of the trickiest—and most talked-about—topics in modern motherhood: snacks. In this episode, we unpack the cultural obsession with constant snacking, how it impacts our kids' health (and appetites), and why we've made it a priority to rethink the way we snack in our homes. We share what's actually working in our families, how we set snack boundaries without shame, the importance of protein and fat in between meals, and why saying “no” to endless snacks isn't mean—it's loving. If you've ever felt stuck between feeding your kids something or fighting a snack battle every afternoon, this conversation will meet you right where you are.

In this bonus episode, economist Tony Alexander tackles your burning questions—from the case for a land value tax, to the flood of Kiwis heading offshore, to what financial education should mean for kids.. Plus, his take on why financial education needs to go beyond budgeting—and into the world of startups . This Q&A follows our full chat with Tony on the state of the property market. When I joined my current chorale four years ago, I had no idea that decision would take me to Carnegie Hall, but it did and it was amazing!

Similar to talking to our kids about sex, we often struggle with talking to our kids about money. This may require us to be vulnerable, which is not something we enjoy doing as men. This may require us to learn, which is a challenge seeing we like to show off all of the t-shirts we have accumulated from our experiences. This also requires us to make adjustments for our kids, even if we think we have things figured out. Today, I am joined by Taylor Kovar, CEO & Founder of 11 Financial, to gain wisdom on how we can talk to our kids about money in a way that will truly help them. Here's what we discuss: The different money personalities Common practices of parents that might not be so good The value of relationship within the money talks You can learn more about having money conversations with your kids and get access to assessments and resources from Taylor and his wife by visiting www.themoneycouple.com. The Dean's List with Host Dean Bowen – Political leaders are teaching American students that it's okay to lie. As Kamala Harris praises Joe Biden with blatant falsehoods, it's clear that truthfulness is not a priority. This disregard for honesty serves as a troubling example for the next generation. We must prioritize virtues like wisdom and justice in our education system to counteract this trend...

Join Carrie and Jessica as the engage in a conversation centered around teaching our kids to advocate for themselves. They explore situations that clients have had, experiences with their own children, and tips for where to even begin. Raising children who can speak up for themselves will enable them to have an easier time to find their voice as they enter different stages throughout life.
We hear it so much nowadays: “This workforce isn't what it used to be,” etc. Well, we can keep complaining about it or we can help change it. How do we do that you may ask? It starts within the walls of our own homes. Teaching our kids to do and accomplish hard things is so important. If we want future employees who we can trust to do the job right and get things done, even when it's tough, we need to teach our kids to do the same. Letting them fail, speaking truth to them, and being true to your own word, will prove helpful. Make them get jobs as they get of age and make them do chores as they live under your roof. I'm definitely not a professional in the matter and I'm far from a perfect parent, but maybe I have a few thoughts that might inspire some ideas for you and your children. With this episode, host Spencer Ward gets personal about parenting lessons borrowed from business, and vice versa. Last week we had the incredible Dr. Dona Matthews, PhD, with us, discussing how to help our kids choose happiness and raise happier kids. This week, we're shifting gears and diving into the topic of raising resilient kids. Now, what I love about all of this is that, let's face it, there's already a million things we're trying to get right as parents. And the idea of adding a long list of more things to do sounds daunting. But here's the surprisingly beautiful part: there's a remarkable alignment between raising happy kids and resilient kids. So, my suggestion? Go back to episode 109 , listen to my chat with Dr. Matthews about raising happy kids, and then let's continue the conversation about raising resilient kids.AFTER YOU LISTEN: Grab my 10 Favorite Time-Management Hacks and take control back!Join Growth Getters for all your work/life balance systemsConnect with Dr. Dona MatthewsLike what you heard? Eli has been teaching Max to read... OR HAS HE. Max is an amazing reader already and the dads talk about how their kids learn anything and whether or not it is, in fact, magic. Then for reasons that will likely come out in litigation, Tom and Eli hijack the show to talk about books. Thomas is filing suit and cannot comment further about this episode at the current time.
