Wat kan je als architect nog betekenen in een markt waar elke creatieve uiting wordt gecommodificeerd, en gebiedsontwikkeling vaker wel dan niet bijdraagt aan gentrificatie? En hoe kan je als ontwerper überhaupt iets bijdragen als de wereld in brand staat? De crisis is nu, moeten we niet de barricades op? Wij worden er soms moedeloos van. Toch geeft architect Afaina de Jong ons in deze aflevering hoop. We zoomen in op een piepklein stukje Amsterdam-Noord: het voormalig kavel van sociëteit Sexyland op de NDSM-werf. Stichting NDSM-werf die verantwoordelijk is voor de programmering van de buitenruimte van de werf, heeft aan Afaina de Jong opdracht gegeven om hier een ‘inclusieve publieke ruimte' te ontwikkelen. Hoe doe je dat? Hoe kun je als architect nog impact maken op een plek waar zoveel machtsverhoudingen en belangen spelen? Zonder te vervallen in fatalisme of marketing-optimisme blijft Afaina zoeken naar manieren om bij te dragen als ontwerper. Daarbij is praten over architectuur cruciaal: alleen door in een project te duiken en op een eerlijke manier te onderzoeken wat wel en niet werkt is het mogelijk om iets te veranderen. Deel van het project zijn dan ook 3 podcasts door verschillende makers, waar wij er één van zijn. “Jeg ved stadig ikke, hvad jeg skal være når jeg bliver voksen. For tiden er jeg meget forfatter.” Gunnar Wille har underholdt børn og barnlige sjæle i forskellige medier i næsten 50 år. Udover at være billedkunstner, scenograf, instruktør, tegneserieskaber ogmeget mere, er han far til Magiske Mads og Skrumpen fra det ydre rum. Han har desuden stiftet Animationslinien på Filmskolen i København, hvor han underviste i 25 år. Lige nu opfatter han sig mest som forfatter han aktuel med serien om De Wille Drenge. I denne udgave af PlotCast hører vi om hvordan man holder sig aktuel igennem fem årtier, hvordan man kan plante historier om og vigtigheden af at lade historien folde sig ud - og ikke mindst om hvordan man kommer ud af en skrivekrise. “Hvis du ser på hvad jeg lavede i 80’erne, så er det fuldstændig ekstremt. Altså efter de der rædselsfuldt tørre 70’ere, hvor jeg i øvrigt også lave masser af eksperimenter… Jeg brugte hovedstolen, jeg brugte mine børns hovedstol, alt! Der var nok ikke mere.”

I 2012 udkom den meget roste “Min mor siger”, der blev nomineret til DR Romanprisen og fik debutantprisen Bodil og Jørgen Munch-Christensens kulturlegat. Hendes anden roman “Lejlighedssange” kom i 2015. I denne udgave af PlotCast taler Malene Kirkegaard med hende om hendes inspirationer, om fortællerstemmer, om samtalen som boksekamp, om ægteskab og humor. “Jeg synes, der er noget rigtig komisk ved, at mennesker prøver at indgå i romantiske, længerevarende relationer med andre mennesker. “Vi har jo begge to lavet teater, så vi er med på den der med, at vi siger “ja” til hinanden.” Line Leonhardt og Dorte Schou er begge uddannet på Forfatterskolen for børnelitteratur. Line debuterede i 2009 med billedbogen Noas ark II og har siden fået udgivet en del bøger til børn og unge, bl.a Partiet, Jagttegn, Hul igennem, BFF-Vild med Vilde, Ellen og dramaskolen og serien Kaos i familien om drengen Nelson. Dorte er udover at være illustrator og sangskriver også forfatter til bøger som Sweettalk, Fest i klubben, Helt gratis, For vildt! og Otto si’r risotto. Sammen har de skrevet ungdomsbogen Shithole, der udkommer fra Høst og Søn 23. februar - og PlotCast har fulgt processen. I fire forskellige samtaler optaget over halvandet år snakker vi om at skrive sammen, om at tage afsæt i virkeligheden, om at tage andre karakterers sprog ind, om cirkulære plots og hvordan historie og arbejdsmetode har flyttet sig gennem forløbet. Det handler i høj grad om at sige ja og om at have tillid til hinandens idéer og rettelser. “Det er sjovest, hvis man hele tiden bliver begejstret over det, den anden kommer med."

   “At lave en tegneserie er jo også at skrive en historie. Selvom man måske ikke tænker på det på den måde." Søren Jessen er tegner og forfatter til nærmest alt, fra småbørnsromaner, tegneserier, ungdomsromaner, science fiction og romaner. Senest har han adapteret Franz Kafka’s Forvandlingen til graphic novel. PlotCast mødte Søren Jessen på Art-Bubble festivallen i Århus og vi fik en god snak om vekselvirkningen mellem det at skrive og tegne, om at adaptere romaner til tegneserier, at lade underbevidstheden arbejde for sig, at bruge sine børn som testlæsere, fantastiske elementer i en ellers realistisk historie og om vigtigheden af at gå i stå og det indirekte syn.   “Nogle gange rammer man tættere på centrum, ved at skyde lidt forbi.”

"Det er en drivkraft for mig, at få folk til at forstå. Og det håber jeg skinner igennem i mine historier" Den prisvindende journalist Jakob Sheikh har med sin bog "Danmarks børn i hellig krig" sat fokus på radikaliserede islamistiske miljøer og givet et sjældent indblik i, hvad der får unge mennesker, der er født og opvokset i Danmark, til at melde sig under Islamisk Stats faner i Syrien og Irak. Han er desuden uforvarende blevet en del af en "true crime" bølge og er blandt andet gæst på krimimessen Copenhagen Crime, der afholdes for første gang 11. - 12. juni 2016. Vi får for første gang her i PlotCast indblik i, hvordan en journalistisk forfatter arbejder. Vi snakker research og etik, om at vælge hovedpersoner, om den lille historie i den store, hvordan man som journalist skriver dramatisk og indlevet, og om at ommøblere sin tekst, indtil den rigtige konstellation er der. "Der kan være en forskel på fiktion og non-fiktion, men når alt kommer til alt, så er det med at komponere og sætte sammen noget der fylder rigtigt meget. Og der er rigtig meget af det som er håndværk og ikke har noget med kunst at gøre"

Men det er faktisk også blevet til adskillige manuskripter til film og tv, teaterstykker og en enkelt børnebog. I denne episode af PlotCast taler vi om skrive tre-akts struktur i comedy, om at bryde den fjerde væg, om tilblivelsen af materiale i samarbejde med et publikum og tage imod noter fra eksperter - især når man skriver til film og TV. "Hvis jeg kan mærke der er noget, der er ubehageligt at skrive, så ved jeg, at det er dér jeg skal hen" Jesper Stein er uddannet journalist og har bla. været kriminalreporter og krigskorrespondent. I 2008 skrev han biografien "Man jager et bæst og fanger et menneske" i samarbejde med Bent Isager-Nielsen. Han debuterede som skønlitterær forfatter i 2012 med krimien "Uro", som der er første bind i en serie om vicepolitikommisær Axel Steen. Hans nye bog "Aisha" udkommer 6. november. I denne episode af PlotCast taler han med Malene Kirkegaard om sin skriveproces, m det lange tilløb til at blive skønlitterær forfatter, om at skrive i små lommer, realisme som dogme, om det at bære hovedkarakteren i sig selv - hvorfor man ikke skal have det lange lys på og i stedet give slip og skrive det man har i sig. Og der kan altid luges ud bagefter. Stein har det meget ambivalent med det at skrive: "Det er berusende og frygteligt... Uhyggeligt opslidende! Men også helt fantastisk. Noget af det bedste jeg ved."

"Det er blevet sværere at lave gode idéer til film" Anders Rønnow Klarlund er filminstruktør, Jacob Weinreich er manuskriptforfatter. I 2010 udkom de sammen for første gang under pseudonymet A. J. Kazinski. Romanen "Den Sidste Gode Mand" blev en tordnende succes og de har arbejdet sammen lige siden. PlotCast mødte dem i deres nye fælles kontor til en snak om fælles skriveproces, om at skrive oven i hinandens tekster, det at lade idéerne ligge lidt, om at arbejde på fem-seks projekter samtidig og det at ofre en karriere i filmbranchen for bogens mindre angstfyldte univers. Som Jacob siger: "Jeg synes det er skønt, at slippe for, at sidde og udvikle en masse idéer, som jeg måske kun tror en lille bitte smule på selv".

"Det betyder enormt meget med de folk jeg arbejder sammen med, at man giver hinanden luft til de kompetencer man har" Jenny Lund Madsen er manuskriptforfatter, uddannet fra UCLA. Hun har bl.a skrevet kortfilm, været forfatter på sketchshowet Live fra Bremen, Hotel Zimmerfrei, Op med halen og julekalenderen Ludvig og Julemanden for TV2. I denne episode af PlotCast snakker vi om skriveproces indenfor film og TV, det gode samarbejde, kunst kontra det kommercielle, om at jonglere flere projekter på en gang, at være hårdhudet og selvkritisk, men også om faldskærmsudspring og drab på dyr. "Jeg har sprunget ud af et fly fra ti kilometers højde, så kan jeg nok også det her" siger Jenny, om hvorfor alle oplevelser - også de dårlige - er vigtige for skrivende. Det handler ikke kun om, at turde forfatterlivet i frit fald og om at udfordre sig selv. Ind imellem handler det også om, at kunne sige nej til projekter, uanset hvor fedt det lyder på papiret.
