Why settle for the ordinary when you can sip your latte surrounded by cuddly chaos? Apollo 14 launched on January 31, 1971. Five days later Alan Shepard and Edgar Mitchell walked on the Moon while Stuart Roosa, a former US Forest Service smoke jumper, orbited above in the command module. Packed in small containers in Roosa's personal kit were hundreds of tree seeds, part of a joint NASA/USFS project. Upon return to Earth, the seeds were germinated by the Forest Service. Known as the "Moon Trees", the resulting seedlings were planted throughout the United States and the world. NASA Space Science Data Coordinated Archive Lead Dave Williams has made it his pet project to find out what happened to the Moon Trees. You can find out more about the Moon trees on the NASA website. Ykkösellä maaliin! Roosa Maskonen on tullut stand up -kentälle, ja osunut monessa ensimmäisellä yrityksellä maaliin. Tästä viimeisimpänä todisteena on Vuoden Tulokas -titteli. Tämän jakson teemana on lavahahmolle kirjoittaminen. Kun on selkeä hahmo, on helpompi kirjoittaa ja yleisön helpompi ymmärtää. Tulokset puhuvat puolestaan.
Vitsit sikseen! -podcastin 38. jaksossa vieraana stand up -koomikko Roosa Maskonen. Roosa aloitti stand up -komiikan vasta reilu vuosi sitten ja tänä syksynä hänet jo palkittiin Vuoden tulokas -tittelillä. Podcast on myös katseltavissa YouTubessa osoitteessa:https://www.youtube.com/SuomenStandUpClubiTuotanto: Suomen Stand Up Club OyKaupalliset yhteistyöt: myynti@suomenstandupclub.fihttps://www.suomenstandupclub.fi

Podcast „Jalgrattapalavik“ rõõmustab kuulajaid uue episoodiga. Seekordseks külaliseks on Gleb Karpenko, kes tuli mõne nädala eest Eesti koondisega Balti Keti velotuuri meeskondlikuks võitjaks. Gleb andis töömehena edusse märkimisväärse panuse. Narvast pärit võidusõitja tänavune hooaeg on pehmelt öeldes olnud üks korralik seiklus. Ta on Hispaanias kuulunud kahe erineva amatöörklubi ridadesse, võistelnud Eesti koondisega Euroopa meistrivõistlustel ja Balti Keti velotuuril ning tiirutanud omal käel Belgias. Mida kõike on viimased kümme kuud pakkunud! Head kuulamist!

International standards identify “Inadequate equipment availability, suitability, (and) reliability” as a psychosocial hazard. OSHA requires personal protective equipment to be “provided, used and maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition.” The word reliable means “suitable or fit to be relied on.” However, it's difficult to feel safe, rely upon, or trust PPE that doesn't fit. The guest for this episode Amy Roosa is the founder of Iowa Women in Safety and “The Safety Rack.” She's a tireless advocate for women in the trades, and women in safety, with a specific focus on PPE for women.
Women in the safety industry need allies and the space to find their own voices! More importantly, PPE needs to be designed specifically for women's bodies to ensure safety and efficiency. Joining us on the Hazard Girls podcast is the co-founder of the Iowa Women and Safety Conference and founder of The Safety Rack, Amy Roosa. First off, Amy tells us how she got started with the conference, who it targets, and what it's all about as well as the main industries that safety professionals are coming from. She then gives us a breakdown of her background and how she got into safety before discussing why women get the brunt of the frustrations people experience in safety more than their male colleagues. Next, Amy delves into the pros and cons of being a woman in the safety industry, the importance of calling sexism out, and why men must be allies. We then discuss the importance of having PPE made for women specifically and how The Safety Rack is changing the ‘shrink it, pink it' mentality.' Will be commissioned the Saturday May 26th 2018(NB) NH History Alan Shepard, first American in space. Born in Derry, NH in 1923 Earned a Bachelor of Science at the US Naval Academy Served on a Navy ship in the Pacific ocean during WWII After the war, entered flight training, then graduated from the Naval Test Pilot School and the Naval War College In April 1959, Shepard was selected as one of NASA's first group of seven astronauts On May 5, 1961, Alan Shepard became the first American in space. He flew on a one-person Mercury spacecraft that he named Freedom 7. It launched on a Redstone rocket. On this flight, Shepard did not orbit Earth. He flew 116 miles high and then returned safely. The flight lasted about 15 ½ minutes. After his first flight, Shepard developed a medical problem. An inner ear problem stopped him from flying in space. NASA named Shepard as chief of the Astronaut Office. He helped select new astronauts, plan missions and make sure astronauts were ready to fly. Later, he had surgery to fix the ear problem, and he was able to fly again. Almost 10 years passed between his first and second flights. Shepard's second spaceflight was on the Apollo 14 mission to the moon. He was commander of a crew that included Stuart Roosa and Edgar Mitchell. The Apollo spacecraft was launched on a Saturn V (5) rocket. On Feb. 15, 1971, Shepard and Mitchell landed on the moon. (Roosa stayed in orbit around the moon while the other two landed.) During two moonwalks, Shepard and Mitchell collected more than 100 pounds of moon rocks. They conducted scientific experiments on the lunar surface. Shepard also became the first person to hit a golf ball on the moon, showing how far it would go in the moon's lower gravity. After his second flight, Shepard returned to his job as head of the Astronaut Office. He retired from NASA in 1974. Shepard worked in private business. He also did volunteer work to support education and to help people learn about spaceflight. Shepard died of leukemia in 1998. My favorite quote from him, “It's a very sobering feeling to be up in space and realize that one's safety factor was determined by the lowest bidder on a government contract.” https://www.nasa.gov/audience/forstudents/5-8/features/nasa-knows/who-was-alan-shepard-58.html Suggestions/Feedback Do you have a topic that you would like for us to discuss?
