How many guns? Six. How many characters? Si--FIVE. Gotcha! Six Guns is indeed about six guns, but it's also a story about a collection of people uniting over a common enemy and a throwback to old western Marvel characters. Characters with dope names like Two Gun Kid who - guess what - has two guns. --Hit us up at comicpatrolpod@gmail.com if you want to add a submission for a future Arc Analysis-- --Follow the Weapons on Twitter @Comic_Patrol for some extra tidbits of fun (we maybe promise it isn't fluff pics)-- #numeatz #sawftcheeze
Joining me for this week's podcast is retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 Gregory Coker. Coker wrote the book "Death Waits in the Dark: Six Guns Don't Miss!" and has donated 100% of the profits to organizations that support veterans. He flew helicopters in the Army for over 20 years and spent 15 of those years in the world's most elite helicopter unit, the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. He flew the MH-6 Little Bird, an attack helicopter with thousands of hours spent flying in and out of combat. Coker was shot down in Iraq, supporting an assault force during a daytime operation. He remained with the assault force after he and his co-pilot made it out of the downed aircraft, where they were engaged in a six-hour gun battle. We discussed this operation in detail and some of the aerodynamics of controlling a helicopter as its crashes. Blades for Brothers is partnered with Shied 91, a 501c3 non-profit started by Greg, to craft blades and help veterans learn how to bladesmith. Greg had experienced a traumatic brain injury from combat, and we discussed this, plus veteran's mental health issues and much more. Tune in. There are up to 500 million guns on our streets and in the homes of Americans. In the past year, gun sales have skyrocketed along with murders, suicides, accidents and deaths. Law abiding gun owners believe there is no gun problem and mental health is the only epidemic. People who are the victims of gun violence or accidental deaths believe there is a problem that needs to be addressed and fixed. No matter what side of the conversation you fall on, the heat is turned up on this one! Parrish, Aunt Bo and Coach invite Aunt Bo's husband, who owns the fourth largest firearm store in New Jersey. He is a proud gun owner who takes the whole anti gun movement to task. The conversation is uncomfortable but somebody has to have it.Listen now on all your favorite platforms. The Knights of the White Camellia aka the vampires of New Orleans are really angry after the group killed one of their leaders, Delphine LaLaurie. They had already taken the Thesophist's riverboat (that can transform into a submarine), and they also kidnapped 25 black children from the children's hospital ward while everyone in town was at the St. John's Eve Festival at Lake Pontcharian with Marie Laveau. Basil gets sidetracked by a business deal that was too good to pass up....the lawyer and politician, Alciabades DeBlanc, has paid for half of a large shipment of guns upfront and wants Basil to personally deliver them to his residence. Let's just say....things go south pretty quick after that...hilariously so. LIsten to hear more Basil and Archie hijinks and to hear about what Eoughn our formerly Unseelie Black Dog that joined the party mysteriously after they were attacked by vampire's in their client's basement. Castle Falkenstein is a steam-age, Victorian fantasy role playing game that was a cult classic from 1994, originally written by legendary game designer, Mike Pondsmith. The game is getting somewhat of a reboot over at Fat Goblin Games with new supplements and books written by my friend and fellow game designer, James Gray! We will be testing out some "shocking" new fangeled dice mechanics which may upset some Castle Falkenstein purists (only cads and scoundrels play dice), but I think the dice mechanics will definitely bring a new audience to this evocative steam age, Victorian fantasy game. As of the release date of this podcast, the dice mechanics are still being written up and haven't officially been released yet, but they will available soon. Make sure to follow Fat Goblin Games over on Facebook for updates. Also, we still do make use of the Fortune Deck with poker chips in different colors representing the various suits and determining how many dice you can roll based on your specific ability score. Each player also gets two major arcana cards at the beginning of the session that create dramatic twists and turns in the story (using the Second Tarot Variation: An Alternative Fortune Deck for Castle Falkenstein). This game is set in New Orleans in 1876 and our Dramatic Characters are all members of the Theosophical society, a society heavily involved in Spiritualism, Science, and Philosophy and founded their leader, Helena Blavatsky. After Basil and Archie end up blowing up Alciabades mansion, they head off on a boat that Aiyla procured to save black children that were kidnapped by the Knights of the White Camellia....racists who became vampires in order to bring the South "back to its former glory." The members are slowing turning prominent and influential members of New Orleans society into vampires, preparing to overtake the town. Lets hope our heroes are able to stop them in time before they (and whatever else the Adversary is orchestrating) destroys the freedom so many died to to gain. Eoughan must decide if he is going to be a double agent for the Adversary (who had the goblins kidnap him and bring him back to the faerie veil). Eoughan used to be involved with Unseelie court and used to be the Adversary's personal hunting dog, before his life was saved by a human. He is in New Orleans to fulfill a boon; to rescue his daughter that was kidnapped and brought to New Orleans for some mysterious reason. The Adversary let him know in no uncertain terms that if he helps out the Theosophists or messes up his schemes for bringing the Unseelie to the United States in large numbers, he will be assassinated with cold iron. Highlights of this episode include: Archie using a gatling gun on a giant crocodile, Aiyla taking the helm of an Aerovette, and Eoughan making a grand entrance, calling Jean Lafitte out. We also learn more about the Foursquare of the Red Tower. Why are the teaming up with the vampires and what are their goals? The second part of the finale with go into more detail, so stay tuned! In this episode, Archie, Ayla, and Eóghan (Owen) are preparing for their trek into the Gulf, making their way to the Grand Isle, where Jean Lafitte used to have his headquarters back in his "privateering" days in the early 1800's. (Basil is absent for this episode, off working on his legendary Alantean Chimera bullets with telegraphic aid from Helena Blavatasy in New York.) Jean Lafitte's ghost and ghost crew are still rumored to be sailing the waters of the coast of the New Orleans, and continue to steal cargo from various ships. The Theosophists are going to try their luck and see about finding the legendary mirror of Soul Seeking, which supposedly will strip vampires of their supernatural abilities, which would be very handy indeed against the vampires of the Knights of the White Camellia. The setting involves dark subject matter, such as the murderess Delphine LaLaurie and race relations in the South post-Civil War, so keep that in mind before listening to the podcast. None of this felt real. Abranyah ran her palms over her jacket, the same brown duster she’d been wearing since taking on the mantle of sheriff. It was night, sort of, but everything was covered in a wily haze, blurred like she had one pull too many from the ferment bottle. Shapes and corners were punctuated by an aura that faded outwards. Abranyah smelled her own breath by blowing into her cupped palm, but she detected no ferment, no ginger. She didn’t feel off-heels, but everything before her was disconcerting in ways she couldn’t quite understand.
