Welcome to Episode 11 of Pattern Portraits! Lauren Godfrey chats with artist and filmmaker Michelle Williams Gamaker about costume as a nonverbal communicator in film, pattern stopping her in her tracks and the double echo of intergenerational clothes swapping. Michelle is an artist known for her ambitious films that enact fictional revenge, placing marginalised voices at the centre of the narrative. Her epic film work ‘Theives' was presented at South London Gallery in 2023, Dundee Contemporary Arts and Bluecoat in Liverpool in 2024. Michelle's work responds to films watched during childhood, unpacked and seen anew over time, which raise important conversations about race, representation, identity and agency. Michelle's work has won many awards including jointly winning the Jarman Award in 2020. Pattern and colour are intrinsic in her world from costumes and sets to the clothes Michelle wears herself. A pair of her striped boots have even been immortalised in the work of another artist, Madeline Pledge who I am also interviewing this season! Michelle has chosen some very special patterns, a polkadot and houndstooth from C&A passed down from her mum, a Kantha quilt kimono and Shalwar kameez adapted for wearing at her exhibition opening, a satin dress thrifted in Amsterdam and my personal favourite, an epic Paisley crossed with tiger print shirt by Pencaldi and B!You can see all of Michelle's patterns and more on instagram @patternportraitspodcastThe PATTERN PORTRAIT print artwork to accompany Michelle's interview and featuring the patterns we discuss is available to buy now at www.laurengodfrey.co.ukhttps://www.instagram.com/m.williams.gamaker/References: Thief of Baghdad 1940 - produced by Alexander Korda and directed by Michael Powell, Ludwig Berger and Tim Whelan, with additional contributions by William Cameron Menzies and Korda brothers Vincent and Zoltán.The Thief of Bagdad 1924 - directed by Raoul Walsh and starring Douglas Fairbanks. Ooh, it makes her bolder Ooh, she'll fuck a soldier, whoa An epiphany looms If she rents out some rooms All the soldiers will give her their clothing With their pockets all ripped Naked and well-equipped Then a Bluecoat may slip her some Black Jack Whoa, whoa, whoa If you see an army in your garden, pull their pants down to the ground The only gum here is Black Jack, a new invention Yankees claim they get a pack a year Ooh, it peaks her craving This gum has dark and haunting flavor, whoa The slaves sing praises as they savor Dear lady, can you hear Rhett Butler? When he's chewing His Black Jack sounds like the whispering wind ah, ah, ah But when you chew six slices each You squawk like seagulls at the beach Are you a lady or a whore Who yearns for Black Jack more than smores The city burns you're eating cum You vow to never lose your gum Civil war stories from your past The break of dawn will bring more crack The soldiers stood tall but now half mast You swallowed their gum, dreaming of Black Jack

In episode 290 UNP founder and curator Grant Scott is in his shed reflecting on reading the conflict image and its continuing power to inform. Plus this week, photographer Roo Lewis takes on the challenge of supplying Grant with an audio file no longer than 5 minutes in length in which he answer's the question ‘What Does Photography Mean to You?' Roo Lewis is a photographer based in Hackney, North London and his portraiture has been commissioned included in magazines such as Vogue, The Guardian, The Times amongst others. In addition to his editorial work he also works for international brands such as Toast, Island Records, VW, Sony, Waitrose, and American Express. His long-term personal projects are developed by building trust with communities and conveying his subjects with empathy, emotion and integrity through an analogue approach. This has led to two books. The first Forest: Walking Among Trees explores the historical context and modern-day applications of some of the world's most fascinating and iconic trees. Over a period of two years Lewis photographed the Welsh town of Port Talbot which, according to actor Michael Sheen, has an ‘extremely high number of UFO sightings'. However, the resulting book published in 2023, Lewis's second, Port Talbot UFO Investigation Club is not a study of UFO sightings but instead uses the phenomena as a starting point to explore the people, landscape and folklore of the town. https://roolewis.com Dr. Grant Scott is the founder/curator of United Nations of Photography, a Senior Lecturer and Subject Co-ordinator: Under Graduate and Post-Graduate Photography at Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, a working photographer, documentary filmmaker, BBC Radio contributor and the author of At Home With the Makers of Style (Thames & Hudson 2006), Professional Photography: The New Global Landscape Explained (Routledge 2014), The Essential Student Guide to Professional Photography (Routledge 2015), New Ways of Seeing: The Democratic Language of Photography (Routledge 2019) and What Does Photography Mean to You? Tasting Notes An early "craft" gin out of Philadelphia, Bluecoat is a citrus-forward "American" style dry gin. All organic botanicals contribute to a gin tailored for a crisp, lemon-rind finished martini. The initial nosing is sweet earth, and lemon peel, with a touch of dried root. On the palate, the 94-proof spirit is a heavyweight. Spicy botanical notes coat the sides and bottom of the tongue while lifted citrus emerges through the finish. Bone dry, earthy, with enough lemon zing to carry the day. Dry, Zingy, Citrus Forward Gin Perfect for Martini Time

Mina 0/8 Aggression 4 5. Escape 0/8 NPC Tactics NPC opponents have an Aggression rating of 1 to 6, with most starting on 4. To find an opponent's tactic for the round, roll 2D6 of the same colour and one of a different colour. If the single die comes up a 1, 2 or 3, continue the same tactic from the previous round. On a 4 or 5, total the two same-coloured dice and add Aggression, then pick from the Tactic table. If it shows a 6, roll it again and pick an action from the Twist table. As they take or inflict wounds, gain or lose the advantage in a fight, NPC opponents' Aggression will raise or lower. Experienced fighters will change only a small amount, while green, frightened or vengeful opponents will change more. Each time someone in the fight (either PC or NPC) suffers a setback, there should be a chance for Aggression to change. If the NPCs are nervous or demoralised, Aggression will drop when they suffer a setback and rise when a PC does. If they are angry or undisciplined, Aggression will rise when they suffer a setback and drop when a PC does. If you don't want to bother with Aggression, roll 3D6 for a tactic. If you want a more straightforward fight, without unexpected moves, drop the Twist die. NPC Tactic table Panic - flee without caution, open self up to opportunistic attack Surrender - throw down weapons and submit to opponent Disengage - attempt to divert opponent's attention away from self Retreat - move towards cover or out of range Guard - defend only, no attack Probe - attack cautiously, testing opponent's defenses Wear down - draw the fight out and try to tire the opponent Stand-off - wait for opponent to make the next move Balance - attack and defend evenly, no particular strategy Feint - try to trick opponent into defending against the wrong move Reverse - rapidly switch from aggressive to defensive fighting to off-balance opponent Taunt - try to anger or dismay opponent into making a mistake Press - keep opponent on the defensive and hope their skill is inferior Strike - try to penetrate opponent's defence with a fast attack Charge - attack with ferocity, risking injury to wound opponent Frenzy - attack wildly, risking death to wound opponent Twist Table Re-enforce - Call for help from allies/bystanders Change - weapon/objective/ground Disadvantage opponent - throw a burning candelabra, maneuver into uneven terrain, cut a curtain so that it falls over their head Advantage self - take the higher ground, move so that they are not facing the sun, draw/pick up a second weapon Bargain - try to persuade opponent to surrender/back out of combat/change sides Trick - try to convince opponent they are about to suffer a setback or gain a false advantage MYTHIC Q: Do the vampires take damage from the roof impact? Mike Fey, CEO and co-founder of Island.io, joins to share his story, falling in love with technology and being fascinated by it at a young age. Mike quickly started working for companies where he grew in his role, becoming CTO of McAfee and then GM of the Enterprise business, stepping out to then become president and COO of Blue Coat, which was eventually acquired by Symantec, eventually wanting to get into his own business. He shares that being a small business owner is a lot of hard work and very tiring at times, he says "especially in a startup, the highs are very high and the lows are very low." Mike also mentions how easy it is to get knocked down when being in charge of your own business, but that teamwork is what helps to bring him back up. Mike says he wants to eventually help change the world and hopefully his legacy will help him to do that some day. We thank Mike for sharing his story with us.

This is a rebroadcast of an episode of This Thing We Call Art, a podcast where the host Kelly Lloyd speaks to people in the arts about their livelihoods. Lloyd originally interviewed artist Nicole Morris on February 25, 2021 and the 44-minute episode featuring portions of the two and a half-hour-long conversation was released on February 24, 2022. The podcast features a conversation that includes discussion of navigating being a solo artist and an art educator, the limitations of the formats of the solo show and the retrospective, motherhood, reproductive labor and care labor, and incidental interruptions in the creative process. Kelly Lloyd is a transdisciplinary artist who focuses on issues of representation and knowledge production and prioritizes public-facing collaborative research. Lloyd has recently held solo exhibitions at the Royal Academy Schools (London), Crybaby (Berlin), Bill's Auto (Chicago), Demo Room (Aarhus), and Dirty House (London) for which she won the Art Licks Workweek Prize. Lloyd was the Starr Fellow at the Royal Academy Schools during the 2018/19 school year and is currently studying at The University of Oxford's Ruskin School of Art and Wadham College for her DPhil in Practice-Led Fine Art with support from an All Souls-AHRC Graduate Scholarship and an Open-Oxford-Cambridge Doctoral Training Programme Studentship. In 2021, Lloyd launched This Thing We Call Art, a podcast and online archive featuring excerpts from 50+ interviews with people in the arts she has conducted since 2017. Nicole Morris is an artist working across gallery, education and community settings both in a solo and collaborative context. Her work uses textiles and film to explore themes of domesticity and labour and how these are performed or re-presented in new contexts. Her work has recently been included in exhibitions and projects at The Foundling Museum, London; Southwark Park Galleries, London; Royal Museums Greenwich, London; The Drawing Room, London; [SPACE], London; Baltic, Gateshead; South London Gallery; Bluecoat, Liverpool; G39, Cardiff; Jerwood, London and The National Gallery, Prague.

We meet leading artist Jonathan Baldock who works across multiple platforms including sculpture, installation and performance. With work often taking on a biographical form, Jonathan Baldock addresses the trauma, stress, sensuality, mortality and spirituality around our relationship to the body and the space it inhabits.Baldock's work is saturated with humour and wit, as well as an uncanny, macabre quality that channels his longstanding interest in myth and folklore. He has an ongoing focus on the contrast between the material qualities of ceramic and fabric in his work. Concerned with removing the functional aspects of the materials he uses, Baldock instead works in a performative way through his sculptural assemblages, bringing the viewer, the object and the space they simultaneously occupy into question as a theatrical or ritualistic act.Jonathan Baldock was born in 1980 in Kent, UK. He lives and works in London. He graduated from Winchester School of Art with a BA in Painting (2000-2003), followed by the Royal College of Art, London with an MA in Painting (2003-2005).In 2021 Baldock had solo exhibitions at La Casa Encendida, Madrid, Spain and at Accelerator, Stockholm, Sweden. He participated in group shows in 2021 including ‘Threadbare' at Stephen Friedman Gallery, London; ‘Human Conditions of Clay' at Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff, Wales and ‘Right About Now' at No.9 Cork Street, London. Baldock's work was included in the inaugural Towner International biennial at Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne, UK in October 2020. Baldock's first solo exhibition with Stephen Friedman Gallery opened in September 2019 and presented a series of ceramic masks featuring bright colours and outlandish expressions. This show coincided with the presentation of a large-scale, interactive sculpture by Baldock at Fitzrovia Chapel, London during Frieze week. In the spring of 2019, Baldock's solo exhibition ‘Facecrime' opened at Camden Arts Centre, London following a Freelands Lomax Ceramics Fellowship. The exhibition travelled to Tramway, Glasgow in August 2019 and Bluecoat, Liverpool in March 2020. Follow @Jonathan_Baldock on Instagram. On this episode I chatted with Dr Kayse Shrum, President of Oklahoma State University. Dr. Kayse Shrum as the 19th president and the first woman to lead the University. Dr. Shrum has served as president of OSU's Center for Health Sciences (OSU-CHS) since 2013, and her selection at the time made her the youngest and first female president and dean of a medical school in the state of Oklahoma. A native of Coweta, Oklahoma, Dr. Shrum is a fervent champion of rural health and primary care medicine and has made the creation of a sustainable, rural primary care physician pipeline a top priority. She launched innovative high school recruiting programs like Operation Orange and Blue Coat to White Coat, created the Rural Medical Track curriculum and expanded the number of residency training programs in rural Oklahoma by securing support from the Oklahoma Legislature, Oklahoma Health Care Authority and Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust. Her long list of awards and accolades includes being named The Journal Record's Woman of the Year in 2019. Dr. Shrum and her husband Darren still actively farm near Coweta. In this episode Anne Marie talks to La Percée du Bocage museum president, Billy Leblond and Men in the Shed Blogger, Colin Foster about Operation Bluecoat and the story behind Men in the Shed. Men in the Shed tells the story of 18 Allied POWs who literally left their mark on the wall of a wooden shed owned by a French baker in Normandy. The shed (commandeered by the German military) became a temporary jail for Allied POW's during the fighting following the D Day landings in 1944. "Operation Bluecoat was a British offensive in the Battle of Normandy, from 30 July until 7 August 1944, during the Second World War. The geographical objectives of the attack, undertaken by the VIII Corps and XXX Corps of the British Second Army (Lieutenant-General Miles Dempsey), were to secure the road junction of Vire and the high ground of Mont Pinçon."The attack was made at short notice to exploit the success of Operation Cobra by the First US Army after it broke out on the western flank of the Normandy beachhead and to exploit the withdrawal of the 2nd Panzer Division from the Caumont area, to take part in Unternehmen Lüttich (Operation Liège) a German counter-offensive against the Americans." — WikipediaColin Foster has been interested in the Second World War from an early age. According to Colin, " being born in 1959 meant that he grew up in an age where good quality war movies were regularly made!"He is a regular visitor to Normandy since 2002 when he started researching the Normandy campaign as the result of his friend stubmling upon the names, ranks, serial numbers and dates of capture of 18 Allied soldiers, written on one of the inside walls of his shed. The old wooden shed, which once served as a grainstore, sits behind what used to be the village bakery in the small Normandy village of St Vigor des Mézerets. purchased the bakery (by now converted to a house) in 2000. His research to date is recorded on his website Men in the Shed. Billy Leblond has a passion for the History of his paternal grandfather and father with whom he has visited many historical places. His interset for WWII came in college and developed in Lycée. His internships focused on WW2 museums of Normandy and included Dead Man Corner, Caen Memorial and Grand Bunker Ouistreham. For the past 5 years Billy has been involved in the La Percée du Bocage Museum, of which he now serves as president of the museum's board, following Mark Kentell last year. Jean Ménard, the founder of the museum, helped and guided him throughout the years he has been involved. According to Billy Jean Ménard has been instrumental in helping him to understand "the perception of the human aspect of the battles and of the history of veteran to whom we owe so much."Jean Ménard : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rE_fgzNCpZ0Museum: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IONeDC5p7d4La Percée Du Bocage Museum: https://www.laperceedubocage.frMen in the Shed: https://menintheshed.comOperation Bluecoat Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_BluecoatTo Support Armchair Historians:Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/armchairhistoriansKo-fi: https://ko-fi.com/belgiumrabbitproductionsSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/armchairhistorians)
The Harvestmen take another job from the Georgian Bankers, but smuggling stolen cargo back into a Bluecoat precinct is nobody's idea of a cake-walk...
In episode 68 UNP founder and curator Grant Scott is in his shed starting Part 3 of a three part series reflecting upon the history, funding, distribution, cost, creation, expectation, audience and future for photo books. This week he looks at self-publishing, crowd funding and distribution. Plus this week publisher Colin Wilkinson/Bluecoat Press takes on the challenge of supplying Grant with an audio file no longer than 5 minutes in length in which he answer's the question ‘What Does Photography Mean to You?' If you have enjoyed this podcast why not check out our A Photographic Life Podcast Plus. Created as a learning resource that places the power of learning into the hands of the learner. To suggest where you can go, what you can read, who you can discover and what you can question to further your own knowledge, experience and enjoyment of photography. It will be inspiring, informative and enjoyable! You can find out here: www.patreon.com/aphotographiclifepodcast In 1973, Colin Wilkinson founded the Open Eye project in Liverpool, England (that directly led to the Open Eye Gallery opening in 1977). Colin based the project on the Canadian Challenge for Change programme - which was established to give a voice to minority communities particularly through film and the emerging portable video technology. He pulled together a largely inexperienced small group of people and made 16mm films about community festivals before engaging community groups in making short videos. The project expanded and he acquired a derelict ex-public house in the centre of Liverpool on the basis of a six month lease which became a 10 year long residency. This gave him space to expand his vision of a community facility offering film, video, photography and sound recording. The ground floor bar area became the gallery (occasionally doubling up as a cinema) with a cafe attached. During the late 1970s, it became a key meeting place for bands (Echo & the Bunnymen and the Teardrop Explodes practised in the basement below), photographers and other creatives. In 1982, he set up a commercial photographic company and in 1992 he founded Bluecoat Press, specialising in local history books with a high photographic content and published over 200 books until the 2008 financial crisis. Colin assessed his situation and decided that he would have to concentrate on a niche market he had the greatest interest in - and so became a photobook specialist. Since 2012, Bluecoat Press has specialised in publishing the work of British photojournalists and social documentary photographers including John Bulmer, Rob Bremner, Peter Dench, Bert Hardy, Jim Mortram, Tish Murtha, Paul Trevor, Nick Hedges, Hugh Hood and Patrick Ward. The books are available from many bookshops and galleries and can be ordered online. https://bluecoatpress.co.uk Image: Karen moving furniture from Youth Unemployment by Tish Murtha. ©Tish Murtha from Youth Unemployment. Welcome to the History of Computing Podcast, where we explore the history of information technology. Because understanding the past prepares us for the innovations of the future! Todays episode is on the History of Symantec. This is really more part one of a part two series. Broadcom announced they were acquiring Symantec in August of 2019, the day before we recorded this episode. Who is this Symantec and what do they do - and why does Broadcom want to buy them for 10.7 Billion dollars? For starters, by themselves Symantec is a Fortune 500 company with over $4 billion dollars in annual revenues so $10.7 Billion is a steal for an enterprise software company. Except they're just selling the Enterprise software division and keeping Norton in the family. With just shy of 12,000 employees, Symantec has twisted and turned and bought and sold companies for a long time. But how did they become a Fortune 500 company? It all started with Eisenhower. ARPA or the Advanced Research Projects Agency, which would later add the word Defense to their name, become DARPA and build a series of tubes call the interweb. While originally commissioned so Ike could counter Sputnik, ARPA continued working to fund projects in computers and in the 1970s, this kid out of the University of Texas named Gary Hendrix saw that they were funding natural language understanding projects. This went back to Turing and DARPA wanted to give some AI-complete a leap forward, trying to make computers as intelligent as people. This was obviously before Terminator told us that was a bad idea (pro-tip, it's a good idea). Our intrepid hero Gary saw that sweet, sweet grant money and got his PhD from the UT Austin Computational Linguistics Lab. He wrote some papers on robotics and the Stanford Research Institute, or SRI for short. Yes, that's the same SRI that invented the hosts.txt file and is responsible for keeping DNS for the first decade or so of the internet. So our pal Hendrix joins SRI and chases that grant money, leaving SRI in 1980 with about 15 other Stanford researchers to start a company they called Machine Intelligence Corporation. That went bust and so he started Symantec Corporation in 1982 got a grant from the National Science foundation to build natural language processing software; it turns out syntax and semantics make for a pretty good mashup. So the new company Symantec built out a database and some advanced natural language code, but by 1984 the PC revolution was on and that code had been built for a DEC PDP so could not be run on the emerging PCs in the industry. Symantec was then acquired by C&E Software short for the names of its founders, Dennis Coleman and Gordon Eubanks. The Symantec name stayed and Eubanks became the chairman of the board for the new company. C&E had been working on PC software called Q&A, which the new team finished and then added natural language processing to make using the tools easier to use. They called that “The Intelligent Assistant” and they now had a tool that would take them through the 80s. People swapped rolls, and due to a sharp focus on sales they did well. During the early days of the PC, dealers - or small computer stores that were popping up all over the country, were critical to selling hardware and software. Every Symantec employee would go on the road for six days a week, visiting 6 dealers a day. It was grueling but kept them growing and building. They became what we now call a “portfolio” company in 1985 when they introduced NoteIt, a natural language processing tool used to annotate docs in Lotus 1-2-3. Lotus was in the midst of eating the lunch of previous tools. They added another devision and made SQZ a Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet tool. This is important, they were a 3 product company with divisions when in 1987 they got even more aggressive and purchased Breakthrough Software who made an early project management tool called TimeLine. And this is when they did something unique for a PC software company: they split each product into groups that leveraged a shared pool of resources. Each product had a GM that was responsible for the P&L. The GM ran the development, Quality Assurance, Tech Support, and Product Market - those teams reported directly to the GM, who reported to then CEO Eubanks. But there was a shared sales, finance, and operations team. This laid the framework for massive growth, increased sales, and took Symantec to their IPO in 1989. Symantec purchased what was at the time the most popular CRM app called ACT! In 1993 Meanwhile, Peter Norton had a great suite of tools for working with DOS. Things that, well, maybe should have been built into operating systems (and mostly now are). Norton could compress files, do file recovery, etc. The cash Symantec raised allowed them to acquire The Peter Norton Company in 1999 which would completely change the face of the company. This gave them development tools for PC and Mac as Norton had been building those. This lead to the introduction of Symantec Antivirus for the Macintosh and called the anti-virus for PC Norton Antivirus because people already trusted that name. Within two years, with the added sales and marketing air cover that the Symantec sales machine provided, the Norton group was responsible for 82% of Symantecs total revenues. So much so that Symantec dropped building Q&A because Microsoft was winning in their market. I remember this moment pretty poignantly. Sure, there were other apps for the Mac like Virex, and other apps for Windows, like McAfee. But the Norton tools were the gold standard. At least until they later got bloated. The next decade was fast, from the outside looking in, except when Symantec acquired Veritas in 2004. This made sense as Symantec had become a solid player in the security space and before the cloud, backup seemed somewhat related. I'd used Backup Exec for a long time and watched Veritas products go from awesome to, well, not as awesome. John Thompson was the CEO through that decade and Symantec grew rapidly - purchasing systems management solution Altiris in 2007 and got a Data Loss Prevention solution that year in Vontu. Application Performance Management, or APM wasn't very security focused so that business until was picked up by Vector Capital in 2008. They also picked up MessageLabs and AppStream in 2008. Enrique Salem replaced Thompson and Symantec bought Versign's CA business in 2010. If you remember from our encryption episode, that was already spun off of RSA. Certificates are security-focused. Email encryption tool PGP and GuardianEdge were also picked up in 2010 providing key management tools for all those, um, keys the CA was issuing. These tools were never integrated properly though. They also picked up Rulespace in 2010 to get what's now their content filtering solution. Symantec acquired LiveOffice in 2012 to get enterprise vault and instant messaging security - continuing to solidify the line of security products. They also acquired Odyssey Software for SCCM plugins to get better at managing embedded, mobile, and rugged devices. Then came Nukona to get a MAM product, also in 2012. During this time, Steve Bennett was hired as CEO and fired in 2014. Then Michael Brown, although in the interim Veritas was demerged in 2014 and as their products started getting better they were sold to The Carlyle Group in 2016 for $8B. Then Greg Clark became CEO in 2016, when Symantec purchased Blue Coat. Greg Clark then orchestrated the LifeLock acquisition for $2.3B of that $8B. Thoma Bravo then bought CA business to merge with DigiCert in 2017. Then in 2019 Rick Hill became CEO. Does this seem like a lot of buying and selling? It is. But it also isn't. If you look at what Symantec has done, they have a lot of things they can sell customers for various needs in the information security space. At times, they've felt like a holding company. But ever since the Norton acquisition, they've had very specific moves that continue to solidify them as one of the top security vendors in the space. Their sales teams don't spend six days a week on the road and go to six customers a day, but they have a sales machine. And the've managed to leverage that to get inside what we call the buying tornado of many emergent technologies and then sell the company before the tornado ends. They still have Norton, of course. Even though practically every other product in the portfolio has come and gone over the years. What does all of this mean? The Broadcom acquisition of the enterprise security division maybe tells us that Symantec is about to leverage that $10+ billion dollars to buy more software companies. And sell more companies after a little integration and incubation, then getting out of it before the ocean gets too red, the tech too stale, or before Microsoft sherlocks them. Because that's what they do. And they do it profitably every single time. We often think of how an acquiring company gets a new product - but next time you see a company buying another one, think about this: that company probably had multiple offers. What did the team at the company being acquired get out of this deal? And we'll work on that in the next episode, when we explore the history of Broadcom. Thank you for sticking with us through this episode of the History of Computing Podcast and have a great day!
