In the revolutionary dystopian RPG originally published in 1988 by Mike Pondsmith and R Talsorian Games, CYBERPUNK (various, from TTRPG to anime to FPShooter) explores the edges of humanity, capitalism, and personal frailty amongst a neon backdrop of acid rain, body-altering cyberware, and techno-wizardry. No characters personify the monstrous alienation of this world more deliciously than MAELSTROM, a gang of cyber-maniacs that take de-humanization and self mutilation not as eventual goal, but stepping-stone for entry into their bloody, maniacal cabal. Whether it's selling morbid "better-than-life" hallucination chips or dealing in zero-nutrition insect "food stuffs" through their ALL FOODS front, MAELSTROM is a bleeding chrome tooth in the manicured aesthetic of NIGHT CITY'S cosmopolitan facade. During the talk about the third episode of "The Last Of Us", Enrique talks about how if there is only 8 episodes of the season it was a waste to use this episode for Bill & Frank instead of developing Ellie & Joel more, Eli says he likes it because it was something more light in the depressing series, and Tristan dug the episode as he has no attachment to the series prior to this show coming out. Moving onto "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" all of Da Bois have differing opinions. Eli talks about how the entirety of cyberpunk genre might not be for him after not enjoying this show, Bladerunner and Cowboy Bebop, Tristan says he loves the series and enjoyed the dynamic between David Martinez and Lucy, and Enrique enjoyed the show after the extremely cliché start but felt the post time skip content was a big blur. Based on the 2013 video game developed by Naughty Dog, the series is set twenty years after a mass fungal infection sparked a global pandemic and follows Joel (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler tasked with escorting the teenage Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across a post-apocalyptic United States. The supporting cast features Gabriel Luna as Joel's younger brother Tommy and Anna Torv as Joel's smuggler partner Tess. The Last of Us, said to be the largest television production in Canadian history, was filmed in Alberta from July 2021 to June 2022. It is the first HBO series based on a video game, and is a joint production by Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, Naughty Dog, the Mighty Mint, and Word Games. The first season consists of nine episodes written by Druckmann, who wrote and co-directed the original game, and Mazin. The score was composed by Gustavo Santaolalla, who composed for the game, and David Fleming Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (Japanese: サイバーパンク エッジランナーズ, Hepburn: Saibāpanku Edjirannāzu) is a 2022 Polish–Japanese cyberpunk web anime series based on the video game Cyberpunk 2077 by CD Projekt Red.[2] The series was animated by Studio Trigger under the supervision of CD Projekt and premiered on Netflix in September 2022.[3] Set in the Cyberpunk universe created by Mike Pondsmith, the anime serves as a prequel to the game and takes place about a year before the events of Cyberpunk 2077. Upon its release, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners received highly positive reviews, with praise directed at its characters, animation and worldbuilding.[4] In October 2022, CD Projekt announced that the anime would not be receiving a second season and stated that, while they were open to collaborating with Trigger for future projects, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners had always been planned as a standalone work
A lightweight anime-inspired comedy game from... 1987? Back in 1988, the role playing game, CYBERPUNK, was created by Mike Pondsmith. Since then the game has gone onto much success. Just in December 2020, a video game called CYBERPUNK 2077 was based off the original game and has had tremendous success on video consoles. Now a long anticipated television series, CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS (2022), created in the style of Japanese anime has arrived to Netflix. When high school student David and his mother, in the wrong place at the wrong time, are hurt during an assassination attempt, David is left without parental care. While on the subway he meets Lucy, a netrunner and petty thief, who brings him into the world of crime. Soon he joins her crew and the group of cyberpunks and mercenaries try some high risk robberies that may be more dangerous than they thought.Cyberpunk, the subgenre, has been one of the most popular science fiction genres to ever exist. It was popularized by the stories of such authors as Philip K. Dick and William Gibson. CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS (2022) brings the world created by Mike Pondsmith and the follow-up video game to life. Your co-hosts binge watched the Netflix series so they could give you their thoughts on the show.
On today's podcast, we are back talking cyberpunk! We've been discussing it off the air and realized we had more to say on a broader level than what we've talked about from Edgerunner's show. What do you think a positive world with technology looks like? How does humanity positively explore possible futures? In contrast to all of the negative varieties that we see. If you want to listen to our first conversation on cyberpunk, check it out below: Discussing Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a 2022 Polish–Japanese cyberpunk web anime series based on the video game Cyberpunk 2077 by CD Projekt Red. Cyberpunk Edgerunners may just be my anime of the year. The world was downright immersive. It made me feel like I was inside the video game. It fleshed things out in ways that a video game world can't. The characters were impressive and brilliant. The music was bizarre and driving, just like Night City would expect. The story was an epic tragedy that kept driving from one episode to the next. All in all - about as perfect as I could hope for. But even more than just a delightful experience - the way that Edgerunners explored one of the best parts of Cyberpunk 2077 and the Cyberpunk universe built by Mike Pondsmith was what set it apart. The truth of Night City is that it's a broken place. It's the tragedy that makes it so compelling. And - since this is a nerdy sermon after all - I have to acknowledge that the Bible has its fair share of depraved tragedy in its pages. For this video, we're focusing on David from Edgerunners and David (along with a few others) from the story of the nation of Israel. What hope do we have the Night City may or may not have? In case you hadn't head Netflix and Studio Trigger just dropped Cyberpunk Edgerunners and we're pretty damn hyped on the whole thing. This episode is first and foremost a review of the series, we're giving you our first impressions and talking basic stuff before giving ample warning and delving into spoiler territory because holy shit is there a lot to talk about in this show. We're also taking a look both from a newcomer to the Cyberpunk universe and someone who's a little more familiar with the world, is it faithful? Does it make us want to play the game? What about the table top RPG? Who the hell is Mike Pondsmith? We're getting into all of it so time to chrome up and take on Night City with us. Also in case you missed it power rankings will now be on our socials instead of the site.

CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS TELLS A STANDALONE, 10-EPISODE STORY ABOUT A STREET KID TRYING TO SURVIVE IN A TECHNOLOGY AND BODY MODIFICATION-OBSESSED CITY OF THE FUTURE.Cyberpunk: Edgerunners takes place in Night City, the futuristic metropolis that serves as the primary setting of Cyberpunk 2077. While sharing the same location, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a stand-alone series featuring its own original cast of characters with their own storylines separate from that of either CD Projekt Red's game or any storyline in Mike Pondsmith's original tabletop RPG.Several locations and supporting characters from Cyberpunk 2077 make noteworthy appearances throughout Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, either as allies to David and co. or as non-speaking blink-and-you'll-miss-'em background cameos. While an exact year and date is never specified in the series, it's possible to infer from both context clues and the appearance (and non-appearance) of certain characters that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners takes place before the events of Cyberpunk 2077The show has a cool story that keeps in touch with the lore of Night City but my only complaint is that parts of the story are very condensed, it definitely could've benefited from a few more episodes. Not an Anime or storyline like Japanese Anime. Also oddly it's Not an Anime or storyline like Japanese Anime. Just another American style Animation. Yes, the original language is Japanese and its clear it was done by the Japanese but the story is very American. Yes i know Some peopl are even advertising it as the strongest anime of the year. I would say not even close. There is no emotional connection. The animator didn't give enough time for the emotion to grow for a character before eliminating them. Normally in an action anime there is a wow factor. I didn't see here. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

“One of the things I've noticed is that a lot of those younger people are actually much nicer than they need to be. And they have to realize that this is going to be your world. It turns out the way you want to make it and so you should be thinking now about what you want out of this. What do you want that world to be? What can portray a dystopian society where creating miracles with tech is applauded, an uncertain future is on the precipice, and the struggle for power is palpable? 2020? No! Cyberpunk games! We're thrilled to invite Mike Pondsmith to the (gamers) chair. The designer that pushed dystopian gaming to the limit at the time (1988) and it still rings as loud today. Mike joins Niko, founder of TOA, to discuss how he was influenced when writing cyberpunk, why Starwars would be better as an anime, and how much responsibilities matter when you're Player 1.“Even the villain likes to be the hero of this own story”. Listen to how he built the game, and how it's affecting our present way of life. It's not about being afraid of the future, but being aware.Looking to level up or enter a new field? Matt Ruff and Blake Collier speak to Mike Pondsmith, creator of Cyberpunk.
When Cyberpunk 2077 was first announced all the way back in 2012, it was instantly put on notice. Cyberpunk 2077 is nigh and goodbye to being social! Shoutout to Mike Pondsmith and CD Projekt Red for ruining so many relationships and making so many people broke at the end of 2020. Who knew Cyberpunk 2077 was a self-fulfilling prophecy? This episode I sit down with Gail D Taylor and talk about the fate of Black people, from Jim Crow, to Alisha Wormsley, to the zombie apocalypse according to Duane Jones. We chat about afrofuturism and how morphogenic fields continue to guide Black traditions, new and old, like an invisible hand of the ancestors. Behold! 19 Hits the Dragon! Open the Eleventh Seal! The Epoch of Orcus is at hand! By this, I of course mean welcome to the launch of 19 Hits the Dragon, a new tabletop gaming podcast featuring me. Rob Mackie, and my good friend Mike Daniel! There's some good old fashioned breeze shooting to start off, and here, we must issue a correction. Mike and I discussed the game Cyberpunk Red without giving due credit to its creator, Mike Pondsmith. Mike Pondsmith is a living legend of the tabletop RPG world, and he deserves all the shine. On behalf of Mike and myself, we would like to apologize for this research failure. This was the first episode we recorded, and we didn't think to look it up at the time. We promise to do better. The bulk of our first episode, however, is a discussion about how to get started as a new player in Dungeons & Dragons, Fifth Edition. What class do you wanna be? How does playing the game actually work? How should you comport yourself at the gaming table? Should you be a dick? (The answer there is decidedly, no. Don't be a dick!) If you want to contact us, you can find us on Twitter (@19hitsthedragon) or drop us an email (19hitsthedragon@gmail.com). Check it out! Tell your friends! Remember to like, rate, and subscribe!

Cyberpunk Red, Mike Pondsmith's iconic dystopian sci-fi RPG, finally has a release date and a price point! Cyberpunk Red will come in at $60 for the physical book and $30 for the PDF, and should come out on November 19th and Nov 14th for the digital. Thanks to a data dump at the R. Brett Kramer's Sentinel Hill Press has finally re-released The Dare, that fantastic CoC scenario that we all love, and updated it for 7th edition! Arkham Relic Hunt from Squamous Studios, something else that Dave and Murph have backed, is about to ship out within days of this recording. Children of Fear, a new Call of Cthulhu campaign set in classic 1920s mentioned way back in 2019 is finally getting some updates from Chaosium! Lynne Hardy's campaign across Asia will come out early 2021 and is 416 pages long. The cover was released through all of their social media outlets. Hey, gang. No new episode this week--there's obviously a lot going on in the world, and I was already having brain issues on top of it, so instead we're going to take a second to encourage everyone to do what you can to help move the world in the right direction. Right now, people around the world are protesting the deaths of unarmed black folks at the hands of the police. George Floyd and Breonna Taylor are just the tip of the iceburg. If you're unable to be in the streets right now, there' s still a lot you can do, from donating to bail funds, to signing petitions, to making sure your elected representatives know where you stand. We're going to put some links in the show notes, but we're hardly authoritative-take a look online and you can find endless ways, both locally and nationally, to offer your support. And don't forget that while all this is going on, the Trump administration, in an effort to be just as monstrous as humanly possible, has rescinded protections that allowed transgender people equal access to healthcare in America. So there's no shortage of places where your time, attention, and resources are needed--and even if, like me, you have very little to offer in those departments, there are a million tiny ways you can help. Do what you can. Support the people you love, support people you've never met, and keep yourselves safe. R. Talsorian Games is one of the ancient and storied RPG companies of the 1980s which has really hit the ground running again in the second decade of the 21st century. They are most well known for 1987’s Cyberpunk, the first neo-noir, mega-corporation RPG setting. Cyberpunk is back in the limelight now with the release of the Cyberpunk Red Jumpstart Kit, which has an adventure that a reviewer on DriveThruRPG described as “next to flawless.” They also released a role-playing game for a video game property you may have heard of, called The Witcher. Mike Pondsmith, the operating genius behind R. Talsorian, simply has a beautiful voice, which should make this next hour immensely enjoyable to listen to. In January, an episode of Appendix N University will cover Three Hearts and Three Lions by Poul Anderson if you want to read it for the episode. Ben’s book on RPG adventure design, Encounter Theory, is on DriveThruRPG. Click here to pick up this essential volume! Like Plot Points? Support it on Patreon at the $2 level, and you’ll get a sneak peek into Ben’s book about the sale of TSR to Wizards of the Coast! This chapter concerns TSR West, an effort by TSR to open an LA office devoted to producing comic books, an effort that failed rather impressively. It is the product of a dozen interviews with professionals from comics, gaming, and Hollywood, and as far as I can reckon, it is a tale entirely untold until now. Image courtesy of R. Castle Falkenstein is a steam-age, Victorian fantasy role playing game that was a cult classic from 1994, originally written by legendary game designer, Mike Pondsmith. The game is getting somewhat of a reboot over at Fat Goblin Games with new supplements and books written by my friend and fellow game designer, James Gray! We will be testing out some "shocking" new fangeled dice mechanics which may upset some Castle Falkenstein purists (only cads and scoundrels play dice), but I think the dice mechanics will definitely bring a new audience to this evocative steam age, Victorian fantasy game. As of the release date of this podcast, the dice mechanics are still being written up and haven't officially been released yet, but they will available soon. Make sure to follow Fat Goblin Games over on Facebook for updates. Also, we still do make use of the Fortune Deck with poker chips in different colors representing the various suits and determining how many dice you can roll based on your specific ability score. Each player also gets two major arcana cards at the beginning of the session that create dramatic twists and turns in the story (using the Second Tarot Variation: An Alternative Fortune Deck for Castle Falkenstein). This game is set in New Orleans in 1876 and our Dramatic Characters are all members of the Theosophical society, a society heavily involved in Spiritualism, Science, and Philosophy and founded their leader, Helena Blavatsky. The setting involves dark subject matter, such as the murderess Delphine LaLaurie and race relations in the South post-Civil War, so keep that in mind before listening to the podcast. Aktualnie jest dyrektorem zarządzającym i członkiem zarządu firmy CD Projekt RED. Aktualnie nadzoruje prace nad dwoma nadchodzącymi grami – Cyberpunk 2077 i Wiedźminem 3.
