Episode 145 Chapter 06, Analog and Digital Synthesis Basics, Part 2. Works Recommended from my book, Electronic and Experimental Music Welcome to the Archive of Electronic Music. This is Thom Holmes. This podcast is produced as a companion to my book, Electronic and Experimental Music, published by Routledge. Each of these episodes corresponds to a chapter in the text and an associated list of recommended works, also called Listen in the text. They provide listening examples of vintage electronic works featured in the text. The works themselves can be enjoyed without the book and I hope that they stand as a chronological survey of important works in the history of electronic music. Be sure to tune-in to other episodes of the podcast where we explore a wide range of electronic music in many styles and genres, all drawn from my archive of vintage recordings. There is a complete playlist for this episode on the website for the podcast. Let's get started with the listening guide to Chapter 06, Analog and Digital Synthesis Basics, Part 2 from my book Electronic and Experimental music. Scott Howard's journey has been chronicled by alternative moments of pain, loss, hope, and triumph, beginning with the tragic death of his best friend and son, Maxx. Shortly after experiencing this unimaginable loss, Scott spent countless weeks in his music studio, cathartically winning back his heartfelt joy by relating his experience and overall awakening in his 2018 album Ascended Man. This highly successful 2018 album Ascended Man, featured in Billboard magazine, marked the beginning of this journey. His wild and tumultuous past is chronicled in his intimate lyrics. Through his music, Scott tells the story of his path to redemption and awakening. Scott is a musical pioneer, creating a new genre called Source Music that draws inspiration from the celestial beyond. His music is performed at 432 Hz, a frequency known for its curative effects on the mind and soul, used by some of history's greatest musicians like Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach. We've talked about YG, we've talked about JYP, and now HYBE got us to put our investigative research hats on! This is a really long episode, but there's just so much to cover that we could simply not leave out as it's all a part of HYBE's path to global takeover. Instead of making this episode multiple parts, we'll let you decide where/when to stop and when to keep going! We're covering HYBE's existence in three stages: 1. The days of Big Hit Entertainment: HYBE (as its previous iteration as Big Hit Entertainment) gave birth to BTS, Tomorrow X Together, 8Eight, Lee Hyun, and GLAM. We also go into Bang Sihyuk and his evolution to become Hitman Bang in this section. 2. How Big Hit Entertainment became HYBE Corporation: from about 2019 until 2022, Big Hit Entertainment laid down the groundwork to become HYBE and secure its position as the biggest player in K-Pop. Acquisitions, partnerships, new labels, technology investments, and so much more. 3. HYBE's Expansion Era: the moves and shakes we've seen from HYBE this year showed us that the question is no longer whether HYBE trying to take over the whole k-pop industry. Now it's evident that they're going for domination at a global scale. As always, please forgive any mispronunciations! We hope you enjoyed this episode and our mix of Latin-based western observations! If you did, please don't forget to subscribe and leave us 5-star reviews wherever possible. Spotify

The number of successful consumer applications in the web 3 space is still few and far between. Against all odds, Audius, an open source and decentralized music discovery and community platform was somehow able to strike a chord and gain mainstream adoption. They have racked up 7M monthly listeners and 50,000 artists, including heavy hitters like deadmau5, Nas, Chainsmokers, Steve Aoki and many more. So what exactly is Audius and how were they able to gain so much traction? Initially, it looks just like any other web 2 music discovery and streaming product, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. All data on Audius is open source, which means as a developer you can take the music library and build your own unique music application.Beyond that, listener data is open as well, which means that artists can have unfettered access to their fan base and use it like a CRM. They can create fan clubs, share exclusive streams, but more critically, if a platform like Spotify or Soundcloud goes down or changes their algorithms, artists will still be able to have a direct channel to their listeners. Finally, the governance structure of the Audius community is unique and Robust. Audius the startup is just one small piece of the entire ecosystem. There is also an Audius token, which is managed by the Audius Foundation, and stimulates the economic activities and incentives of the ecosystem. Finally, contribution and decision making is all done by the community in a decentralized manner.ABOUT THE GUESTRoneil Rumburg is co-founder and CEO of Audius, a digital streaming service that connects fans directly with artists and exclusive new music. Audius is fully decentralized, owned and run by a vibrant, open-source community of artists, fans, and developers all around the world. Founded in early 2018, Audius serves millions of users every month, making it one of the largest crypto applications ever built.Prior to Audius, Roneil most recently co-founded Kleiner Perkins' early-stage seed fund, KPCB Edge. At KP, he was responsible for seed investments into Blockchain and AI companies, including Lightning Labs. Roneil attended Stanford University and previously co-founded a Bitcoin peer to peer payment company called Backslash.SHOW NOTES[2:45] Audius' role in disrupting the music industry[6:45] Components of Audius platform (listeners, artists, network contributor)[10:35] What does it mean to be the CRM for artists' fanbase[15:00] How artists use Audius vs. other platforms[19:55] Enabling 3P developers to build new listening clients[23:05] Key drivers of growth[26:15] Distributed vs. centralized listening experience[30:25] Governance structure of Audius network[33:45] Role of CEO for a decentralized network[37:45] What it means run a ‘startup' that has no concept of existing or having an IPO

Lightworker, dreamer, ascended man, Scott Howard, with his band, delivers the ultimate virtual concert experience. The mind-blowing performance unleashed with visually breathtaking spectacles is a must-see. Streamed over 10 million times, brought a following of dedicated “Ascended Fans” around the globe, his latest EP “The Language of Clouds,” released May 2020, received worldwide critical acclaim. Music journalist Matt Herman writes “Scott is in his element, putting out a virtuosic vision in the middle of an emerging sonic windstorm, and never showing even the slightest hesitance in his execution.” The album, accompanied by an eBook, contains a compilation of photo taken over the 5 years of his Awakening. His lifelong spiritual journey adds intrigue and depth to his transcendental music. His highly successful 2018 album Ascended Man, featured in Billboard magazine, marked the beginning of this journey. His wild and tumultuous past is chronicled in his intimate lyrics. Through his music, he tells the story of his path to redemption and awakening. The synthesized mystic melodies and the warm tones of the acoustic guitar complemented by Howard’s deep and confident voice create a hypnotic effect. His experimentalism and avant-garde nature allowed him to pioneer a new genre called Source Music. Source serves as his ffect.main influence coming from the celestial beyond. Performed at 432 Hz, Scott Howard’s music has a curative effect on the mind and soul. The same frequency used by some of the greatest musicians in history, such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach. A special, limited vinyl-album is available. Scott Howard will also be launching a signature AscensioN432WeaR clothing line featuring multi-functional face & headshields with crystals to aid in manifestation, protection & healing.

The intertwining of Source Music and Sarah's other show Message in Music continues with a deeper conversation on the things we need and the work that must go into getting them. Get those journals out and reflect within the harmonies that Sarah shares through the talent of the Posi Tribe.
This past week, Sarah married her two shows (Source Music and Message in Music) together, and it was a hit! She is doing it again this week, and love is in the air.
After the horrible events in Orlando, Sarah combines her two shows, Message in Music and Source Music, to have a musical, meditative reflection on peace so we can all reaffirm our connection with Source.
Now with an hour of Source Music, we expand our Posi Music conversation as we bring everyone together through melodies and harmonies of peace. We'll have a new segment titled "Everything Happens in Threes,"unveiled during the second half hour, where the subject of healing is musically discussed and felt within our heart center.
