When does keeping your kids safe turn into quietly wrecking their chances to grow up? In this episode, Prof Leah unpacks teen dating—covenants, text surveillance, and all—and asks what happens when parents' fear of the future swallows their kids' present. Drawing on her research on the mental load (and her forthcoming book Drained), she connects helicopter parenting, constant digital surveillance, and perfection pressure to teens' isolation, anxiety, and lack of room to fail, urging parents to back off, drop the impossible standards, and let kids be gloriously imperfect humans.Follow Leah: @prof.leahruppanner Hosted on Acast. The Roaring Lion is returning home. The CBC's Paul Hunter recounts the case, and we reveal his personal connection to the investigation. And: Debate reverberations. Tuesday's high-stakes U.S. Presidential showdown between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump delivered plenty of highs and lows and plenty of endorsements. But will any of it change the minds of voters come November 5th?Plus: A new survey of young people in Canada is highlighting a worrying decline in the use of condoms by sexually-active teenagers. Transmission of sexually-transmitted diseases is on the rise and sex-ed classes are increasingly under attack. Also: Oil and gas company Cenovus delivers homes to Métis and First Nations communities, political posturing before Parliament resumes, and Ukraine calls for long range weapons to hit inside Russia.
Parents, there is some interesting news about teenagers and sex coming out of the University of California, San Francisco. Researchers asked four thousand adolescents from seven hundred and fifty one neighborhoods and one hundred and fifteen schools in Alabama, Texas, and California questions about the quality of their relationships in their homes and in their neighborhoods. Questions focused on how much time families and neighbors spend with one another. The research found that kids whose parents restricted their dating were fifty-five percent less likely to have sex by tenth grade. Other factors contributing to the decision to not have sex by tenth grade include spending less time at home alone, coming from a cohesive family, and living in a close-knit neighborhood. We shouldn't be surprised that valuing and building up our families and relationships with our kids would have this result. God desires us to nurture our children in the faith, raising them in a Christian home.

Prom Dates, written by D.J. Mausner and directed by Kim Nguyen, is a comedy that follows two best friends who are hell-bent on having the perfect senior prom, despite the fact they broke up with their dates only 24 hours before the big night. This raunchy comedy reminds us that while romantic love may be fleeting, true friendship can survive any adversity that comes its way. In today's episode, No Film School's GG Hawkins speaks with Kim Nguyen and D.J. Mausner to discuss: Writing the script in just 8 days How D.J. and Kim immediately clicked Celebrating the importance of friends in our lives Developing the dynamic between the two lead characters Harnessing the amazing energy from the cast Filming in an old high school in Syracuse How having a comedy background can improve your writing The joy of working with gifted talent A dramatic scene that required considerable emotional gear-shifting How D.J.'s writing experiment turned into a film Memorable Quotes “Directors are like tuning forks. The director Emma Seligman's “Bottoms” is an unabashedly queer romp starring Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) and Rachel Sennott (Shiva Baby, Bodies Bodies Bodies). They play high school best friends who hatch a scheme to win their cheerleader crushes by starting an all-girl fight club. Emma tells Tom about making the new no holds barred teen comedy.
A big screen comedy that's as funny as the TikToks the kids are watching for hours each day. But is that a good thing? If you're either of these young comedy stars, the answer is yes.
A new film titled "Bottoms" tells the story of two unpopular high school lesbians who attempt to gain popularity by forming a fight club. It stars Ayo Edebiri of "The Bear" and Rachel Sennott and is directed by Emma Seligman, who joins to discuss. This segment is guest hosted by Brigid Bergin.

What connection is there between Disney and Genesis chapter 6? Quite a lot, actually! Luke, Don, and Pete review a recent video from William Schnoeblen's youtube channel, outlining how Disney created a show with a disgusting re-tread of an ancient evil. It's the same agenda played out once again, but to have a huge company like Disney promoting procreation between humans and celestial beings is eye-opening. There's an agenda to normalize evil and our children are often the targets. Further discussed topics: doorways to the demonic, UFO's/satanic breeding program, Satan's attempts to birth the antiChrist, the Jason Project, glamourizing the occult, and also a good bit of ranting about movies and Hollywood. Enjoy! Here's the video we're discussing:

A judge has been asked to set aside his ruling that a Iowa teen must pay restitution to her rapist's family, after she stabbed him dead. 15-year-old Pieper Lews was reportedly being sex trafficked when she killed Zachary Brooks. According to Lewis, her boyfriend pulled a knife on her and forced her to go to Zachary Brooks' apartment in June 2020. Lewis claimed Brooks, 37, had raped her multiple times in the weeks leading up to the slaying. Once at the apartment, Brooks allegedly made Lewis get undressed, drink alcohol, and smoke marijuana while they watched a movie. Lewis admitted to stabbing Brooks 30 times, but she claimed she did not plot to kill him. Instead, she stated that she became enraged after she woke up to Brooks raping her and ignoring her pleas to stop. Lewis pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and willful injury. She was sentenced to five years of probation and was also ordered to pay $150,000 to the slain man's family. Polk County prosecutors never denied allegations that Pieper was trafficked and a rape victim. The Des Moines Register reported that state law requires individuals convicted of homicide to pay $150,000. Polk County District Judge David M. Porter ordered the judgment, to be Brooks' estate, after rejecting defense attorneys' argument that he was 51 percent responsible for the deadly incident. Deep Beliefs, Teen Sex, and Hell. What is a Deep Belief? What's best for a teenager, a serious romantic relationship, or casual dating? Is Hell an actual lake of fire?
We received some great questions about parenting that we're addressing today. We love it receiving questions so if you have one please don't hesitate to ask us. You can leave a voice message for us on our podcast page, or you can email us support@extraordinaryfamilylife.com The first question is about teen device usage and sneaky behavior. We are having an issue with our son's cell phone usage…We limit it and have always made him turn in his cellphone at night to promote good, healthy habits. I just discovered that he has been hiding an old cracked cell phone that he has been using at night. He also has apps such as TikTok and Snapchat that we do not allow. I know that the phones and apps are made to be addicting. I just don't know how to approach this issue. I will be turning off the wifi night now but how do you deal with the sneaking second phones and apps? It indicates to me that he may be addicted to these apps and his phone. I am curious if you have encountered this before. It is very concerning to us and I would value your input and opinion. The second question is also very relevant with long-term consequences. I'd like to request for you and your husband to talk about the sex drive in teenage boys specifically. As a parent how do you guide them so they can handle their “urges” in a healthy manner? How do you educate them so they don't fall pray with the use of pornography? What are the best ways to support them instead of shaming for having these normal desires? Our society is so full of trashy messages about sex, masturbation, pornography, etc., that I honestly worry about the future of these young men! If you have kids, make sure you listen to this very important episode! This episode is sponsored by our Extraordinary Parenting Bundle. You don't have to be perfect to be an extraordinary parent. Parenting is a skill that can be learned, practiced, and improved. Learn — and practice — how to prevent problems, create peace, and build something extraordinary. Let us show you the habits that successful families use to live intentionally and create more order, vision, and joy.
