El Secretario de Gobernación Adán Augusto López confió en que a mediados de esta semana pueda aprobarse en la cámara de diputados la iniciativa para extender las tareas en seguridad pública de las fuerzas armadas hasta el 2028.

A pesar de la resistencia, las modificaciones en el artículo transitorio del decreto que crea la Guardia Nacional pasó en el Senado y ahora es oficial que el Ejército permanecerá auxiliando en las tareas de seguridad hasta el 2028. La votación en el legislativo terminó de resquebrajar la Alianza Va X México y, para algunas voces, profundiza la presencia militar.
