Molly Hagan is a legend. She has been in the entertainment industry for years and has participated in some beautiful projects. She has starred in Jane The Virgin, Truth Be Told, iZombie, How to Get Away with Murder, and Unfabulous, just to name a few. However, we all now watch her as the ultimate matriarch in The CW's Walker as Abeline Walker. Abeline is confident, wise, calm, intelligent, strong, and resilient. She is a mother never willing to give up on her family or herself. I was excited to speak to Hagan because she has made a mark in this industry. Hagan popped onto the screen with a big smile. Before I hit record, we talked and told some stories -- bonding. She is so easy to talk to, and while she doesn't give herself enough credit for how amazing she is, it was my honor to tell her. We touch on her immense career and lead into Walker (hoping to get renewed). While we wait for an announcement, Molly and I began to break down some of our favorite scenes from the show. Hagan said she is a fan of the show herself, and we often found ourselves talking about the storyline or how talented the cast and crew are. I would circle back to Hagan, who was always the first to give credit where credit was due. We spoke about what it's like having Jared Padalecki (who plays her son, Walker) as a fellow actor but also her boss, what type of trouble the guys get into when they are together on set, and heard some good stories of what goes on when they aren't filming. We got another insight into the group chat and joked around a lot. I have immense respect for Hagan. She makes you feel good and is one of the nicest people who deserve to be where she is... legendary status. Host: Monica Gleberman Editor: Shamindri De Sayrah Social Media Graphic: Jojo -- Synopsis: Texas Ranger Cordell Walker kicks posterior -- usually in slo-mo. Because of his martial-arts skills, he has a competitive edge against the bad guys. With the help of retired ranger C.D. Parker, partner James Trivette and A.D.A. Alex Cahill, Walker ruthlessly fights for justice. **Walker is currently airing on The CW and is available to stream on The CW app the next day for free. Harriet has six Artios Award nominations by the Casting Society of America, with one win for Outstanding Achievement in Casting. She is the author of the book Auditionology, and also coaches actors and teaches workshops. Harriet shares some very useful inside information on how the entire casting process works, including different things actors can do to increase their odds of callbacks and bookings. Some of my favorite quotes from our conversation: “Each actor brings a different tone… so much of who you are is in the role you play.” “I think that you can’t get enough training.” “The biggest thing is being grounded. Being real.” “Take what’s on the page and make it your own. Be creative.” “We want to see what you can do with that material that’s different than the other 59 people who just left my office.” “Read the scene over and over again… each time you read it, you see something you didn’t see before.” “Drama is passion. Drama comes from the heart.” “Comedy is a rhythm.” “Don’t chew gum, don’t wear hats, don’t wear sunglasses, don’t use props.” “Send a few takes of each scene to your agent or manager, and let them choose what they like.” “Each project is different. Each producer is different. Each role is different. Keep going in, they want to see you because they like you.” “If this is what you really want, don’t stop.” “Make sure whatever you put on your resume is accurate.” “Be yourself. Don’t try to be cool, because being cool is not going to get you the job.” Follow Harriet Greenspan here: Website: http://www.harrietgreenspan.com Email: harrietgreenspancasting@gmail.com Facebook: @HarrietGreenspanCSA Buy her book here: Auditionology
