Eiríkur Örn Norðdahl man þegar búðarstarfsfólk fór að brosa. Í dag fáum við pistil frá honum um vanlíðan.

“One thing I have learned from my childhood til now is that when you fall, you get up, dust yourself off, and do it over and over again. I've had a lot of up and downs in my business life in America. I've had many failures and people only talk about successes, but failures in my mind are the foundation of success.”Rahul Tandon speaks to Iranian-American entrepreneur Isaac Larian. The 72-year-old billionaire is the founder and chief executive of US-based MGA Entertainment, one of the world's largest toy companies. Over the years, he's been involved in several high-profile toy launches, including the ‘Bratz' range of dolls back in 2001.But his success today, regularly appearing on rich lists compiled by the likes of Forbes, is a far cry from his early years growing up Tehran, where his family often struggled to put food on the table in a home without electricity or running water. His father ran a small textile shop that a young Larian would work in, buying and selling stock. And at the age of just 17, Larian took this business experience with him when he bought a one-way ticket to America to seek his fortune.Thank you to the Business Daily team for their help in making this programme. Season 8 heads into early-2000s chaos as Dangerous Dave revisits the cult comedy Old School, a film that perfectly captured the outrageous, quote-heavy comedy era of the early 2000s. With its mix of wild fraternity antics and strangely heartfelt moments about growing older, the movie became one of the defining comedies of its generation. We rewind to 2003 in What Happened Way Back When, exploring the cultural backdrop surrounding the film — from indie music breakthroughs and overlooked movies to television shows that helped shape the early-internet entertainment era. Retro Headlines from both the UK and the US reveal how technology, reality TV, gaming, and DVD culture were rapidly changing how people consumed entertainment. In the Dangerous Deep Dive, Dave explores the full story behind Old School — from its development and director Todd Phillips' vision to the unforgettable performances of Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn, and Will Ferrell as the legendary Frank “The Tank.” The episode includes a detailed plot breakdown, the creation of the film's most iconic moments, and why audiences embraced its rebellious, party-fueled humour. Dave also looks at how the movie helped kick-start the “Frat Pack” comedy era and why fans still quote it two decades later.Elsewhere in the episode:

Originally from PinkPantheress' 2025 mixtape Fancy That, the track blends big beat, drum & bass, and R&B with themes of early-crush longing and touring romance. The October 10, 2025 remix—part of the Fancy Some More? LP—reworked production for a bubblegum, Bratz-coded vibe, standing out among features from Kylie Minogue, Bladee, and Groove Armada. The January 2026 music video, directed by Charlotte Rutherford, delivered a creative "battle of aesthetics": PinkPantheress' tartan/red dream world vs. Larsson's sequin/glitter Midnight Sun style, with mannequins and a symbolic barrier collapse uniting their visions—racking up over 10 million views in under 10 days and 13+ million soon after. The real catalyst hit February 21, 2026, when Olympic gold medalist Alysa Liu (first American woman to win women's figure skating gold since 2002) performed to the remix at the 2026 Winter Olympics Exhibition Gala in Milan. Zara Larsson reacted on TikTok, sparking viral choreography recreations. Luminate data showed an 88% U.S. on-demand streaming surge to ~1.8 million daily streams by February 23.Chart dominance followed: Billboard Hot 100 peak at #30 (debut #100), #1 on US Hot Dance/Pop Songs and US Spotify (1.57M+ daily peak, dethroning Bad Bunny), top 10 on Apple Music US. UK Singles Chart #3 (PinkPantheress' 3rd top-20), plus strong peaks in Canada (#22), Sweden (#9), Australia (#11), and global Spotify #2–3 range. This ties into PinkPantheress' historic 2026 BRIT Producer of the Year win—the first woman and youngest ever—plus her first Grammy nods. For Zara Larsson, it fueled major U.S. resurgence alongside "Lush Life" revival.Analytic Dreamz breaks down the streaming-driven rise, Y2K nostalgia cycle, remix strategy impact, critical praise (NME, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork highlighting the UKG revival), and cultural significance of this viral worlds-collide moment.Tune in for the full analysis on Analytic Dreamz—unfiltered takes on pop's biggest breakthroughs.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/analytic-dreamz-notorious-mass-effect/exclusive-contentPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Through film, podcasting, and activism, she has become one of the most compelling creative voices in Alzheimer's awareness and elder care reform.Susie first captured international attention with her Oscar-qualified short film My Mom and The Girl, starring Valerie Harper in her final performance — a deeply personal story born from Susie's own caregiving journey. From writing and producing Bratz the Movie, to co-producing Soul Surfer, Susie has navigated Hollywood at every level — but it's her advocacy-driven work that has become her defining voice.Susie is also the creator and host of the award-winning podcast Love Conquers Alz ( https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/love-conquers-alz/id1492023291 ), and she serves as host of the 3rd & Fairfax for the Writers Guild of America West. Most recently, Susie wrote, directed, and produced the 3-part docuseries No Country For Old People ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Loa4tGZ3GwI ), recipient of the 2024 Gold Anthem Award for Health Awareness. All Home Care Matters and our host, Lance A. Slatton were honored to welcome back the team behind the film "No Country for Old People"   About "No Country for Old People":   A filmmaker chronicles her mother's last 6 months in a 5-star nursing home exposing what is a national systemic, deadly, profit-over-people business model. No Country For Old People; a Nursing Home Exposé is a scorching documentary posed to set the long-term care industry, policy makers, and the country ablaze. Shining a much-needed light on what is truly a national human emergency.   No Country for Old People; a Nursing Home Exposé is a 3-part documentary that exposes the dark realities of neglect and abuse in nursing homes and throughout U.S. long-term care industry.   The film answers four questions: What happens. 2. How does it happen? 3. Why does it happen? 4. And how do we fix it?   The film highlights a systemic crisis - the result of corporate greed - that has been taking a devastating human toll within the walls of our nation's long-term care facilities for decades.   The film weaves personal loss with journalistic rigor, exposing a pattern of abuse that is enabled by profit-first models that include chronic understaffing, undertraining, and financial exploitation.   PERSONAL STORIES AND EMOTIONAL IMPACT:   The filmmaker's own experience with her mother along with other emotional testimonies emphasize the human cost of systemic failure and illustrate the severe consequences of poor nursing home care.   The film is both deeply personal and widely resonant — amplifying voices too often silenced and inviting viewers to confront uncomfortable truths about aging, policy, and accountability in America.   About Susie Singer Carter:   Susie Singer Carter is a multi-award-winning, Oscar qualified filmmaker, writer, director, producer, actor, podcast producer, host, and Caregiver Advocate. She is best known for writing, directing, and producing the 2018 Oscar qualified short film, My Mom and The Girl starring Valerie Harper in her final performance, writing and producing “Bratz the Movie” for Lionsgate, and co-producing “Soul Surfer” for Sony.   Susie also produces and hosts the podcast Love Conquers Alz – awarded BEST PODCAST 2020 by New Media Film Festival and is #4 on Feedspots' 2022 25 Best Alzheimer's Podcasts list. Susie is also the co-creator, co-writer, co-star, and director of the outrageous horror/comedy narrative podcast I Love Lucifer, nominated Best Audio Fiction 2023 by Indie Series Awards.   Susie wrote the screenplay, “RUN”, based on the book “Plain Jane” and is attached to direct in spring 2024. She is currently writing, producing, and directing a docuseries, No Country For Old People, which centers on the Nursing Home Neglect and the systemic healthcare crisis responsible for it. She is also a host of the Writers Guild of America West's 3rd & Fairfax Podcast.   About Rick Mountcastle:   Mr. Mountcastle is the former United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia (2017-2018) and is a retired award-winning federal and state prosecutor. He led the prosecution of Purdue Pharma for fraudulently marketing OxyContin, as portrayed in the Emmy-nominated limited miniseries "Dopesick" (streaming on Hulu).   He also led the criminal and civil prosecution of Abbott Laboratories for fraudulently marketing the anti-epileptic, Depakote, for use as a chemical restraint for dementia patients in nursing homes, resulting in Abbott's guilty plea to a felony and payment of $1.5 billion, at the time the largest penalty against a pharmaceutical company for misconduct related to a single drug.   Mr. Mountcastle spent his career prosecuting healthcare companies and executives who exploited vulnerable patients for profit, and brings his passion to change a system that allows such exploitation to this project.   About Don Priess:   For over two decades, Don Priess has shunned sleep in order to become a highly sought-after, award winning writer, producer, director and editor. He co-founded Modern Media, now one of the top marketing and infomercial production companies in the world.   After six years and hundreds of TV and radio commercials, Don decided to spread his wings and since his credits include projects for CBS/Dic Entertainment, Nickelodeon, Buena Vista, American Movie Classics, Lifetime, Hanna-Barbera, Playboy Entertainment and more.   While continuing to work on a wide variety of entertainment projects, Don teamed with the highly energetic and talented Susie Singer Carter as part of Go Girl Media. Together they were the writers and Co-Executive Producers of two series for CBS, “CAKE” and “DANCE REVOLUTION”, SURVIVING HAWKING, and “SILVER LININGS” for Fox Television Studios.

EASY LISTENING DEP'T.: This, it turns out, is how a violent fascist takeover manifests itself operating in the uncanny nexus between completely made up pretexts and complaints and genuine power and violence. Kristi Noem and Pete Hegseth go on TV, done up like Bratz dolls of themselves and make flamboyantly idiotic and fantastic claims about reality, while somebody's real head bangs into a real curb, and they end up locked up and facing extravagant criminal punishment, in the real criminal justice system. Burning vehicles really feature prominently so far in the iconography of what's happening in LA. They make nice dramatic pictures, which is presumably a large part of why people set them on fire. And they're easier to get a nice composed shot of than the crowded, chaotic and fast moving spectacle of, say, police horses trampling protesters underfoot. Within this space, dolls and collectibles further provide a medium for gay men to explore themes of identity, often becoming symbols of empowerment and nostalgia within queer culture. In this episode, Chris Angelo, a Bratz collector, joins us to discuss the intersection of his queer identity with collecting and why pop culture collectibles provide a source of community for LGBTQ+ people.Additional Resources:Follow Chris Angelo on InstagramFollow The Bratz Barista on InstagramSupport the showGet Your Merch
