The apparently upcoming demise of a former employer has led me to thoughts about topics I've sidestepped in the past on Inappropriate Conversations, keeping work and personal life separate. Perhaps it makes no sense to protect an organization that no longer exists, and I don't think the stories I could tell are really that embarrassing. I consider them to be more revealing about the gap between what a group says it values compared to the culture it actually creates.  If that's an Inappropriate Conversations show update, then the update for Walk The Earth is about a plan for daily "devotional" podcasts during Lent, starting on "Fat Tuesday" and ending on the Monday after Easter. Lent Roll. The inspiration for such short 2- or 3-minute shows came from the Different Drummer this week, someone I don't even know by name. Different Drummer: (j)ula of soundwavesoffwax

Sparse and dreamy, Griffin Bjerke-Clarke's debut novel explores memory, identity, trauma, and healing through a timeless journey. An anti-colonial, He Who Would Walk the Earth is infused with Métis storytelling methods and elements of horror, that powerfully evokes a mood reminiscent of twentieth-century classics like Waiting for Godot. This book unsettles as much as it stokes, dystopian in Felix's apathy yet optimistic in the way he addresses challenges along his listless way. In the end, Felix must learn from his earnest mistakes as he begins to understand that agency requires collaborating with those around him.  ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Two Jewish brothers plan futures full of achievement and maybe fame. But Warsaw in the summer of 1939 is no place for dreamers. Ian is thrown west to Paris. There, he unexpectedly falls in love with Alicia, a mysterious Frenchwoman, but then must leave her to race across France to safety in Casablanca. Daniel ends up in the Siberian Gulag, where he faces blizzards, starvation, and the often-lethal cruelties of guards and fellow prisoners. He too finds someone, an exiled poet named Nadhya, until he must choose: stay with her or cross all of Russia to return to the future he'd envisioned. Walk the Earth as Brothers is the story of two pawns in a titanic world war, of bravery, random chance, kindness, betrayal and love, and of what happens to the hopes and dreams of Ian and Daniel.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/houseofmysteryradio. This week we're kicking off with part 1 of a 2 parter about a huuuge topic: confidence. We're getting into the nitty-gritty of self-love and confidence, which are sneaky aspects of our lives that impact making financial decisions. No one is scrutinising us as much as we do ourselves, and it's human nature (and conditioning) to think that a shiny new thing, like an outfit, makeup or even a diet program, will sort out all our insecurities. Fortunately, the best fix is free and usually what we actually need is a shift from seeking external validation to cultivating internal confidence. Listen in to find out how you can make that shift both online and offline, and how you can also be a positive force to those around you! Perhaps without thinking it through, the Alabama supreme court has taken conservative pro-life arguments about "personhood" to a logical extreme. The initial result was banning all in vitro fertilization procedures in the state, their jurisdiction. The Alabama legislature may believe they have "saved the day" by quickly passing a law to shield those using IVF from prosecution or consequences, but they've done so by deciding which "children" in their state can be killed with impunity. If the hastily passed legislation doesn't sound sufficiently pro-life, that's because it is not.  All of this ignores the core question the Alabama justices got wrong: do we really believe frozen embryos should be viewed the same as children with full personhood, etc.? This past Walk The Earth question is worded more directly:  Whether you would let a dozen people die to save a thousand frozen embryos?

Först 2009 debuterar gruppen på Svensktoppen med ”New Love In Town”. Senaste låten på listan var ”Walk The Earth” 2017. Gruppen består idag av Joey Tempest, John Norum, John Levén, Mic Michaeli och Ian Haugland.

As I've noted in the (old, but) most recent Inappropriate Conversations podcasts, work-life balance and other issues have led to a pause in postings. Work-life balance has shifted again, recently. I can't say yet whether or when this will lead to new episodes of Inappropriate Conversations or Walk The Earth, but I do now that content will be starting to flow again.  Starting today, I'm planning to post at regular intervals. During what turned out to be a hiatus, I pulled the plug on promotional clips of past podcasts on SoundCloud. The IC_Greg account there is gone. That experience did lead me to create stand-alone files for some work, including speeches, poetry, and prose.  I'll begin with "10 Areas of Agreement about Abortion" as a consolidation of a two-part podcast topic from 2011. Because our national dialog has not progressed much on the issue since the 1970s, the argument still seems somewhat fresh in spite of ignoring a decade of recent current events.  Thanks for listening!

Did A Man Called Jesus Christ Walk The EarthNeville Goddard 2/28/1968 Few are teaching this wonderful principle, many others will join, so I thought tonight a certain point should be clarified, because you're going to get this question over and over again. “Do you not believe that a man called Jesus Christ walked the earth?”   You're going to get it and you'll be up against it if you do not know how to answer such a question; for the whole vast Christian world believes in a man, a man, and they will pin you down and try to get an answer, yes or no. Just like saying, “Have you stopped beating your wife?” if you try to answer yes or no to such a question.   So here, we'll turn to scripture, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). “Thy word is truth, and his name shall be called The Word of God.”   How do I reconcile it? Here, “his name”…that's a person…but I'm speaking of a word that will set a man free. We are told in scripture in the 6th of John, “And this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life” (verse 40). As you read it you think it's a man and you say he sees the Son…instantly you think of a man. Well, why? There is not an error but it has a man for its agent, that is, it is a man. There is not a truth but it has also a man for its agent. It takes man to express either a lie or a truth, because God is man…and there is only God.   So when we come to this story in scripture concerning Jesus Christ that is called the truth, well then, they say, “Don't you believe a man, one man, a unique man, was born say four B.C. or say one B.C.?” And then you're called upon to answer that question. Well, first of all, you cannot answer it yes or no. But you answer it in this way: it is not a man—Jesus Christ is God's plan of salvation. It's a plan. Neville. Deja Que Dios Camine Sobre La Tierra Otra Vez La Misión de San Lucas (The Mission of St. Luke) was started by Fr. Gene Flanery in 2011 to serve the more than 300,000 Latinos residing in Kansas City. The mission has planted the only Spanish-speaking Anglican church between Chicago and Dallas. Their congregation represents four nations (Honduras, Mexico, El Salvador, and the U.S.) and is transitioning into a bilingual church, offering the Eucharist in a multicultural setting. One of their key ministry focuses is teaching English — the most essential need for virtually all immigrants. Volunteers are needed to help as conversation partners; speaking Spanish is not a requirement to help! Additionally, the mission runs a soccer summer camp for underserved children, represents families at immigration courts, and guides families to appropriate social services in the area. Over 200 Latinos receive services from the mission each year.

In this week's incredible Team Never Quit episode, legendary bull rider and Netflix reality superstar Dale Brisby (How to Be a Cowboy) brings a brand of toughness, determination, fun, truth, and faith to the table. From Facebook to Snapchat to TikTok, this guy has attracted thousands with his hilarious cowboy-lifestyle videos. Brisby is the self-proclaimed greatest rodeo cowboy on the planet and shares an engaging conversation with Marcus Luttrell in the Team Never Quit Podcast Studios. You'll see pretty quickly that Dale Brisby is not your typical rancher. And you'll hear - firsthand – how a future bull-riding rodeo comes to life at Dale's Radiator Ranch. In this episode you will hear: I'm the Navy SEAL of Bull Riders. My bucket list is – I don't want to kick the bucket anytime soon. Marcus Luttrell can call me whatever he wants. I was raised around rodeo & started pro rodeo in college. If you'll just not quit, that's what you're supposed to do. The rule of wearing felt hats is: Use them in months that end in “R”. Texas is a bit more lenient. The most peaceful thing that ever crossed my mind was if my old man was in heaven. It was as sure to me as gravity. [As it relates to Marcus Luttrell's experience in Afghanistan] A lot of Americans think about what we would do in that situation. There'd be an intense amount of prayer I'd have to be doing. Salvation is like – alight you've graduated, but you still need to go to the classes. My dad died, both of my granddads died, and I had this real moment of “Snap, I'm the patriarch now. My family's gonna be looking to me…” [Telling Marcus Luttrell] If anything devastating were to happen, and I'm sitting here older than you, but I've been an accountant, I'm letting you be the boss. Always give 100% unless you're donating blood. There's never a time when you can just lay down & wait for something to happen. Offense is the best defense. In business, don't ask yourself “Is this right or wrong?” Instead ask yourself “Is this wise?” When you have faith, live your life in response to that.

Welcome to The Hump! Podcast ... your show about how to get one over in this thing called life. Now, to walk the earth. In episode 3 of The Hump! Podcast: Walk The Earth ... hosts Brent Bowen and Chad Beland, two buddies who like to drink a lot of craft beer together, talk all manner of walking — and crawling, beer crawling, that is — on National Walking Day. But like Caine in "Kung Fu" we stop for an occasional adventure, playing another round of Triple D. That's what I've been sitting here contemplating. First, I'm gonna deliver this case to Marsellus. Then, basically, I'm gonna walk the earth. You know, like Caine in “KUNG FU.” Just walk from town to town, meet people, get in adventures. -- Jules (Samuel L. Jackson), Pulp Fiction The Hump! Walk The Earth: On National Walking Day … Brent and Chad discuss all manner of walking — and beer crawling. They discuss walking down the aisle, March For Our Lives, and how to prepare yourself for a travel hike with Chad. This week's round of Triple D has to do with talking, not walking (although it might cause you to walk out): What do you call someone who talks — or sings, even — in the theater during the middle of a movie? Brent and Chad's Beer/Brewery of the Week is ...Canadian Breakfast Stout (Brent had to fly this back from New York City) from Founders Brewing Co. (Founders is highly regarded on both Brent & Chad's Untappd accounts.) Their Toasts of The Week ... A young lady in Chad's family who took that walk down the aisle in holy matrimony We toasted those who made it out to the March For Our Lives walks. We recorded on the anniversary of Martin Luther King's assassination, so we toasted the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King What they've been up to the last couple of weeks? In addition the above fun ... the boys watched a lot of NCAA Tournament Basketball And attending the Visit KC VIP Influencer Program class Brent saw -- and really enjoyed -- Ready Player One, writing a guest review about it over at KCGeeks.com ... and of course ... the boys are out drinking beer on the KC Tap Tour, participating in what they call "catch-up contributions" so they can complete all 19 before the end of May. This Week's Topic -- Walk The Earth The day was National Walking Day … and we know of no other person who likes to walk as much as Chad does … The boy's discuss: Where their favorite places to walk are? And why? Where they clocked their longest walks? And ... the strangest thing they can recall happening on a walk … And This Episode's Game of "Triple D" ... To close out The Hump! Inappropriate Conversations

I recall an exercise that I found unexpectedly challenging: making 100 clear and simple statements about myself that were true and affirming, in the sense of not being negative. I've been sharing parts of this throughout Inappropriate Conversations and Walk The Earth podcasts. This time, I revist that list.  Different Drummer: John Pavlovitz

We think it's safe to say that if SOMEONE had to say "the Zed word" (Why not?  Because it's ridiculous!) it had to be George A Romero.  Thanks to this 1978 classic (and it's offspring!), there is a huge zombie craze.  We have parodies, we have satire, we have social commentary, and we have one of the most successful and intense dramas on television (and not to mention, marathons of zombies lurching towards the screen). Who would have thought that this beloved "indie" film would blow the doors off (literally)?
