Show Summary: How long have you been listening to the God Hears Her podcast? Today, we are so excited to celebrate 200 episodes with you! Join producers Jade Gustman and Mary Jo Clark as they talk to hosts Elisa Morgan, Eryn Eddy Adkins, and Vivian Mabuni about what it's like to work on God Hears Her and how they all came to be working on the podcast. You don't want to miss this fun and special God Hears Her conversation! Notes and Quotes: “Especially as a woman, when He invites you through a door of opportunity to lead, you go through it. But you keep your foot in the door for the next woman behind you.” —Elisa Morgan “We've had a lot of identity conversations on this show, which have just been an absolute blessing for me because it reminds me to recenter myself with who's defining me, and that's God. It's not my job, it's not my body, it's not my children, it's not my status of being single or married.” —Mary Jo Clark “Faith builds faith. When I'm listening to these stories of faith, it has built mine.” —Eryn Eddy Adkins “God knows. He sees. He hears. We say it all the time in the podcast, but it's true! We belong to Him. None of our thumbprints are the same. None of our stories are the same. What an honor to be able to have that moment to hear these stories and to recognize God at work. God is a 360-degree God. He shows Himself faithful. It [these stories] helps me to build a framework for when life gets challenging.” —Vivian Mabuni “The Lord is not going to abandon me. The Lord has put me here—specifically here—for a reason. I will grow and I will change and I will heal, and it will be a constant journey, but knowing that the Lord is still hearing me—He's always here, and He's always leading us.” —Jade Gustman “My spiritual growth has been impacted by the permission I have been given through these women's stories.” —Mary Jo Clark “Even if I still feel unqualified at the end, God brought me through something that was an opportunity to grow and to build muscles. Just because you're not qualified doesn't mean that God isn't calling you.” —Mary Jo Clark Verses: Psalmists Moses leading God's people Related Episodes: GHH Ep 94 – Q&A with Elisa Morgan and Eryn Eddy Adkins: https://godhearsher.org/podcast/qa/ GHH Ep 100 – Looking Back to Move Forward: https://godhearsher.org/podcast/looking-back-to-move-forward-our-100th-episode/ Links: God Hears Her website: https://go.odb.org/ghh191 Subscribe to the God Hears Her YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@GodHearsHerODBM Share Your Story: https://godhearsher.org/share-your-story/ God Hears Her email sign-up: https://go.odb.org/ghh-sign-upsfmc191

Show Summary: When someone compliments you, how do you usually respond? During those moments, it's easy to brush off the kind words or ignore the encouragement. When it comes to our body and appearance, we often have more negative thoughts than positive. This has led Ellen Wildman on a journey to discover how God views His creation and how that can impact the way we view our own bodies. Join host Eryn Eddy Adkins and Ellen as they talk about what the Bible says when it comes to our earthly bodies. You don't want to miss this God Hears Her conversation about body image. It helps me to see my body as beloved and as good because it was made by God, designed by Him, and blessed by Him. It also helps me to give others more grace because I can see them as being made in God's image.” —Ellen Wildman “Even those who fit into the ‘ideal' [image] are struggling with the same things.” —Ellen Wildman “It's not people that have created these [standards]. Maybe we perpetuate the standards a bit, but we haven't created and maintained them. It's really diet culture and the industry of always making us feel less-than. I am made in His image. His living, breathing handiwork.” —Ellen Wildman “God created everything around me, but He only created humans in His image. We are the only thing that He created in His image. Why did He do that? Guest Bio: Storytelling is Melissa Harrison's passion. She has been a TV news anchor and reporter for more than 20 years at television and radio stations around the country including at WNBC-TV in New York City, WFAA-TV, and CBS Radio in Dallas. While she is most passionate about telling other people's stories, she never imagined that she would one day find herself on “the other side” of the headline until she received a phone call that changed her life forever. Melissa was 25 years old and hosting a dinner party when a detective called to tell her that her mom had been murdered. To make matters worse, she discovered that the crime was committed by someone she knew and loved dearly. In an instant, her world changed forever. After experiencing what it was like to have her personal life and deepest pain portrayed in the media, she is writing a book about her story in the hopes that it will encourage anyone who is experiencing pain and loss to know that they can make it through—and to serve as a reminder for journalists of the great privilege and responsibility they have when reporting on other people's stories of tragedy and pain. She now uses her storytelling and leadership skills to connect people and resources to organizations that empower journalists and business leaders to make a positive impact on the world. One of her greatest passions is connecting and supporting women leaders by creating community and space for them to be fully seen and known. Through women's events, executive cohorts, retreats, and conferences, she helps women leaders experience healing and renewed purpose through the transforming power of community. Show Summary: When was a time in your life where you felt distant from God? How did He bring you back to Him? Last week, we learned about a tragic event that happened in Melissa Harrison's life. The tragedy caused her to doubt God's presence as she felt like He wasn't there for her and her mother. This week, Elisa Morgan and Eryn Eddy Adkins are back to learn about how God pursued Melissa to bring her back into a relationship with Him. Learn about how Melissa overcame her spiritual crisis with God in this conclusion for season 14 of God Hears Her. Notes and Quotes: “The thread of His presence [is present] even when we feel like He's not there.” —Melissa Harrison “The Lord sees me. He has been with me all the days of my life. He knows.” —Melissa Harrison “We've got to stop pretending like we have it all together in this Christian community. We've got to be honest when we're struggling and be able to do so in a safe way, but also in a way that we can really receive the help we need.” —Melissa Harrison “Who are you, not compared to one another? What is weakening or polluting what God has designed you to be? What's in your life that doesn't belong: is it a habit, a mindset, a relationship?” —Melissa Harrison “The biggest thing is just to know that you're not alone. God sees you. None of your tears are lost. He is holding you right now—even if this is a time of frustration or if you're feeling forgotten or overlooked, or just questioning: where is God in this moment?” —Melissa Harrison “Know that this is not the end of your story. It feels like it sometimes, and it can be terrifying to think that it may not get better or that there's not going to be a new beginning or a way out, but this is not the end of your story. God is going to be able to use all that you're going through.” —Melissa Harrison “God's going to be able to use your story to really help someone else. Not only is it going to be redeemed for you, but you're going to be a light for other people. On the other side is going to be a faith that is very rich, that you're not going to want to give up.” —Melissa Harrison Verses: Romans 8:28 Related Episodes: Melissa Harrison Links: Melissa's Website: https://www.melissaharrison.net/ Melissa's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/melissaharrisontv/ 4Word's Website: https://4wordwomen.org/ God Hears Her website: https://go.odb.org/ghh191

There is a wrong way to read the Bible, which means there is a right way to read the Bible. Today, we are using the book of Philippians to show how to use the 5 W's and an H strategy to "til the ground" before reading any book of the Bible. We'll also look at Dr. Frank Turek's S.T.O.P. method for Bible study, and why the strategies you learned in elementary school are all you need to understand how to interpret your bible. Is there a wrong way to study the Bible? Many women desire a depth of theolgy and knowledge of God, but they don't know how to get there. The concensus with many women's ministries is shallow teaching that doesn't get to the heart of most women's hunger to go deeper with God. Sarah Rogers, a pastor's wife and women's minstry leader, is on the show to talk about the right and wrong way to study the Bible and why theology is for women too. The heart is at the center of everything; it's the most important vital organ in our body, second only to the brain. It pumps our blood, which the word says gives us life, and if anything goes wrong with it, the rest of our body will be significantly affected. I guess that's why the Lord says above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. It's funny how the things in the physical often mirror the spiritual, and in this episode, we discuss the condition of the heart, how it comes to be, and where it leads.
