Watch on YouTube https://youtu.be/nAhtYo-de-w What we know (and don't know) Through every channel possible (email, the website, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube) we've heard a resounding message: our audience wants a Sip and Feast cookbook! So it's time for us to shift our focus a bit to help make that possible. This is what we know, but there is a lot we don't know, and that's where we'll need your help. Over the next week we will distribute a very brief survey to all those who have subscribed to our email list. If you're not yet on our list, be sure to subscribe today. The survey will include questions regarding cookbook content, the podcast, and other offerings you may want to receive from us. We encourage your participation as you will be playing an active role in driving the future of Sip and Feast! A moment of gratitude As of today, the Sip and Feast podcast is ranked #59 on the iTunes list for Food Podcasts, and we couldn't be more grateful to be in the Top 100. Thank you for all your support throughout our fledgling season; your questions, comments, and engagement are appreciated more than you know! We'll communicate any and all updates regarding Season 2 via our email list and social media, so stay tuned. But of course, the year was not remarkable because of the number of downloads, but because of all the things that happened. In this (mostly) spoiler-free* episode, Neha and Shruti reflect on the experience of reading books from around the world. We zoom out and talk on a broad level about narrative voice, villainy, disability representation and its portrayal in literature, and post-colonial writing. We also do a deep dive into trauma narratives - why are they so popular nowadays? What stories are being promoted, and how does this limit the stories being told by authors of color? We had so much to say on these topics, that we just couldn't get to all of it in the episode! We decided to continue the discussion in our upcoming email newsletter - subscribe for free to join the conversation. You can also connect with us on Instagram, or email us at thenovelteapod@gmail.com.*We mention some minor plot points for The Murmur of Bees, Fruit of the Drunken Tree, and Pachinko (10:26-12:05), but we don't think these spoil the story in a significant way. During this solo episode, Dorothy dives into all the things she learned over the course of season one of Let's Talk About Your Breasts. From survivorship to physician advice, our inaugural season has taught the staff at The Rose so much. Notable quotes: 1.) "I used to say we needed a Rose patient navigation program in every hospital. After this season, I've come to believe that what we need is some kind of educational program for being a caregiver. That's one of the hardest jobs around. And keep in mind, they are twice as afraid, probably, as that patient who's going through it." 2.) "A breast cancer diagnosis doesn't mean you did anything wrong. It doesn't mean that you didn't eat the right things or didn't have enough exercise. It doesn't mean that you're having some kind of punishment because breast cancer just happens and your biggest risk is being a woman. So don't ever blame yourself. With this episode... we're rapping up season 4 of ETE!  Wooohoo!!! We have LEARNED a metric ton in this season! Some of my favorites were:  171:  you didn't miss the train… YOU ARE THE TRAIN! 160: We talked about the voices you shouldn't listen to… AND the voices you SHOULD! 154: We talked about not needing to have ALL the SOLUTIONS… but you do need to PLAY YOUR PART! 159: We talked about the opposite of worry isn't bravery!176: The Everyone Illusion and how to break out of comparing yourself to others! 175, 182, 185 and 189: We talked about specific ways to grow and nurture your email list 184: It was a SPIRITUAL SUNDAY episode when I prayed for provision and new solutions for you Warren Bennis - (PhD and consultant who is considered the father of modern day leadership studies) and he said, “In life, change is inevitable. In business, chance is vital!” So… I was inspired by that. I wanted to create a little space so I could be focused on making some of the changes we need and want to make... so we can keep building a business I love... AND keep doing the things we feel called to do. So, I'm going to take about a month off between season 4 and season 5. I may pop back in from time to time… because I don't know that I can stay away that long. HA! But that's going to give us a little time to launch a few new training initiatives… and it will give me a little down time. Because you have to give yourself some space… to be able to reset and make the changes you want and need to make!  So you can be visionary and proactive… as opposed to being reactionary and feeling like you're chasing the crowd. Do you agree? I bet you do... because... we know that it's VITAL… especially as you're becoming the WELL-PAID ENCOURAGER you deserve to be.  The WELL-PAID and SUCCESSFUL ENCOURAGER… the world needs you to be.  You've got to take care of yourself… so you can bring your very best!   And since I practice what I preach… I'm going to do just that.
