You are looking for a new job. You're qualified. You're experienced. You're doing everything right — and nothing is moving. Instead, you are spinning in applications, silence, and rejection. In this fifth episode of the What Now series, I walk you through what isn't working and what you need to do instead of move past Ghost Jobs and into a new career phase. If you've been applying to hundreds of roles and not landing that job, you're not failing. You're navigating a system full of ghost jobs — postings that exist for data mining, salary research, compliance requirements, or optics, not actual hiring. Right now the traditional online application process is statistically the lowest-probability path to getting hired, and it's quietly eroding your confidence, your identity, and your energy. Listen to this episode to fix it.The Solution: The Build Your Brave FrameworkClarity: Stop applying harder and start getting clearer. Define what you're no longer available for, what energizes you, and what life you're building. Clarity moves you out of the spiral and into strategic momentum.Momentum: Shift from mass applying to real conversations. Reconnect with former colleagues, attend events that genuinely interest you, and identify companies you're authentically curious about. Build relationships from a place of who you are — not desperation.Accountability: You don't have to do this alone. Having a partner who provides insight, coaching, and governance changes everything. Anna applied to 180 jobs over four months with minimal results. Within four months of working through this framework, she landed a leadership role — better pay, healthier culture — that was never publicly posted.Your next career phase is possible. Real opportunities exist. You just need a smarter, braver strategy to find them. What employers should know about key developments this week: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Conversations Are Not Privileged: In United States v. Heppner, a federal judge found that conversations with an AI tool are not privileged due to the tool's terms of service and privacy policy—a stark reminder that employers should not discuss active cases or employment matters with public AI tools. IT Company Fined for AI-Generated Job Postings: The U.S. Department of Justice imposed a nearly $10,000 fine on an IT company for posting AI-generated job advertisements that unlawfully excluded U.S. citizens—highlighting the need for employers to keep a human in the loop when using AI in hiring. March 26, 2026: A California jury found Meta and YouTube liable for deliberately addictive platform design — and the legal framework they used is headed straight for enterprise AI. Salesforce freezes base salary raises for directors and above, shifting to equity as Big Tech quietly rewrites its compensation playbook. Indeed's Hiring Lab data shows 95% of job postings still don't mention AI — and why that number is a warning, not a comfort. And Meta's president drops a number that reframes the entire AI workforce conversation: half a million electricians needed, and we're nowhere close.

In this edition of the Web News, Matt and Mike take a look at a rare piece of good news in the tech industry - software engineering job postings are on the rise. After years of layoffs, hiring freezes, and constant speculation about AI replacing developers, this shift feels like a breath of fresh air. But how meaningful is it? Are companies actually hiring again, or are more job postings simply creating the illusion of recovery? Matt and Mike break down what this data really tells us, why job postings don't always equal job offers, and how AI may be reshaping hiring expectations rather than eliminating roles altogether. They also discuss economic uncertainties, shrinkage in specific dev areas (ie game development), and draw comparisons to pre-pandemic job posting numbers. Tech jobs have been declining now for several years, but this year, the losses at least seemed to stabilize, according to Indeed's latest Jobs & Hiring Trends Report. Still, job postings in the industry remain well below their pre-pandemic baseline. Marketplace's Meghan McCarty Carino spoke with Indeed senior economist Cory Stahle for a look at how this year turned out for the tech job market.

SLP fear is real, but facts are louder. In this Fix SLP Podcast episode, Dr. Jeanette Benigas, SLP, and Preston Lewis, MS/SLP, unpack the top fears heard daily: Praxis retakes, reinstating the ASHA CCC, supervision requirements, getting overlooked by misinformed employers, whether CCC status affects international portability via the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) with the UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, and how employer education, not court battles, drives SLP autonomy and better jobs. This episode shows how to turn fear into facts: evaluating your local job market, approaching HR about removing CCC requirements, clarifying supervision rules, and proving that patient outcomes, not extra letters, define true competence in the field.Thank you to our sponsor, ⭐️ Informed Jobs, ⭐️ connecting SLPs with meaningful job opportunities and career resources to keep you informed and empowered. Weird aspect of the AI era: more and more candidates are first learning about companies after they applied. You read that right. In this episode of The Chad & Cheese Podcast, Jeff Taylor, the nutty professor behind Monster.com, crashes the mic to dish on job boards, entrepreneurial chaos, and why the hiring game's more bonkers than a squirrel on espresso. He takes us on a nostalgia trip through Monster's heyday, chuckling at how Indeed swooped in like a job-posting ninja and the LinkedIn deal hit like a plot twist in a bad rom-com—spoiler: LinkedIn won. Taylor's saga is a hoot: from birthing Monster, to getting a decade-long MBA beatdown from Ray Dalio at Bridgewater (think Wall Street with extra yelling), to now pimping his new gig, BoomBand, which promises to rescue resumes and job postings from the stone age—because who needs parchment scrolls in 2025? He cracks up over flops like Eons—“Facebook handed me my lunch”—and slings zingers like “Jeff Taylor is back, bitches,” while preaching that job seekers are the real MVPs, job boards are deader than disco, and keeping market share is like wrestling a greased pig. With a gleam in his eye, he's hell-bent on jazzing up resumes to strut past, present, and future vibes, proving that thriving in this HR tech madhouse means diving headfirst into the crazy—and maybe dodging a few industry punches along the way. Lots of job seekers have a story about the postings that linger online but never seem to get filled. Those so-called ghost jobs—the roles that companies advertise but have no intention of filling—may account for as much as one in five jobs advertised online. In today's episode: It's growing increasingly common for companies to put up "ghost job" postings that they never intend to hire for. This is for three main reasons: to signal strength (look how many people we're hiring!), to interview employees from competitors, and to strike some fear into current employees. It's a great short-term motivator and a terrible long-term plan. Today we talk about the rise of the ghost job
Ever been snookered by a fake job? I mean, if you know you have? You might have been hoodwinked and didn't even know it. Perhaps you applied and silence. I glanced over a survey from Resume Builder very recently (not a site I recommend, but they ran the survey so what the hey?). A few key findings... 40% of companies posted a fake job listing this year. 30% of companies currently have active fake listings. 70% of hiring managers believe posting fake jobs is morally acceptable. Their rationale… Hiring managers say fake job postings led to boosted revenue, morale, and productivity and alleviate employee workload concerns. They indicate “company growth” as one of the top reasons behind fake job posting strategy. Sure. So, you know these fakers are out there. Now, how can you spot them and what can you do about it?
