Hello, welcome the vzine this week, it's Nicola and I'm back. And it's a very quiet afternoon around here because all the people from the houses opposite have gone off to the airport and the new lot haven't arrived yet so I thought I'd seize this opportunity to record the parts of the vzine. I'm also recording something very exciting for a launch I'm doing that you probably know if you watch this vzine regularly I've been doing the 30 day, One Funnel Away, ClickFunnels challenge, and I'm doing that in order to launch, relaunch The Money Gym book, and the reason I'm doing that is because I'm that close to getting onto Audible. I've recorded it years ago and I've just been chopping it up and editing it and making it really pristine but I had to top and tail it and do lots of little things like put one second room noise at the beginning, it was three to five seconds room noise at the end, and those kind of jobs drive me absolutely crazy, but it would've taken longer to instruct someone on how to do it rather than do it myself. So I forced myself through the pain, I've submitted it twice, and it's been rejected, and third time lucky hopefully that they will like it. It's all about the noise quality and the audio quality for Audible, they want, obviously, their people to get a really good experience, so I've just had to keep on with that until I got it right. So let's get on with the show, shall we? Hi, it's Nicola here and I'm back online. I'm back, oh my god, super fast broadband, it's so exciting I can't tell you when you've lived without it for eight weeks and you forget why everything, you rely on everything really, my TV comes in through the broadband and my telephone comes in through the broadband, so you really do miss it when it's not there, but it's all back, and I'm celebrating by giving this Facebook live today. I've been very aware of the last week that I've been promising you to update you regularly on how it's going with the ClickFunnels, One Funnel challenge. And the reason I haven't been in touch more often is because that A, it's really good content and it's making me have ideas for other bits of my business. So, although the first week has been like pre-training it's all been about beliefs, your behaviours, your attitudes, what makes a winner, how people, sharing success stories to get everybody going, and it's interesting because quite a lot of people have been complaining about that, they want to just get stuck in and get started, but the problem is, if you don't pre-warm people up and get them really excited about what they're going to be doing, the minute they hit an obstacle or a snag, they give up. Those people who just say, "Look I'm sick of all this, I want to get stuck in, "I want to get straight to it," they're the first people who drop off when they hit an obstacle or a snag, because they're used to asking for help and they haven't been fired up enough about why they're doing this in order to push through the obstacle...

Welcome this week to the Vzine. It's Nicola here and I'm indoors because I've had several attempts at recording this outside and it just isn't working. The heat is unbelievable today. It's just the first day of August, and of course, it's the hottest month of the year. I'm indoors with all the air conditioning going because I've had a dog visitor today. I've been looking after Wilfie, who's a lovely Cocker Spaniel and I just thought it would be nicer for him and me if we were not stressed and not too hot and nice and cool. I've got a really big couple of announcements for you in the middle section of this week's Vzine, so do pay attention, it's a little bit longer than usual, but I think you'll find it really interesting, especially if you're over 50. If you're a woman who's been affected by the WASPI scandal, where six years of your pension have been taken away. If you're a self-employed person who is a bit worried about what their pension's going to look like because they may not have paid all their stamps or as many as they could have done. Or if you're just someone who's got a pension provision that you're a little bit worried isn't going to fund the lifestyle that you desire, I think you'll find this middle section really, really interesting. So, let's get on with the show, shall we? So take three, this is me explaining why I'm getting involved in the Clickfunnel's, One Funnel Away, 30 day challenge during August and why I think you should too. I've just done two takes, I did one from the beach and it was too noisy in the background and also, my headphones stopped anyone being able to hear me for the first two or three minutes. And then I just tried to go live with my BeLive.tv software, which is really very good and let's you do Lives from my laptop, but the internet signal was not good enough here. Haven't had a good internet signal for about five weeks. Have to go down the taverna to upload video and audio, but I'm managing. Yeah, I'm on the phone to them everyday. They keep promising an engineer, but nobody's turned up yet, so you just have to roll with punches, really. But nobody's interested in my challenges. Then I just went Live a minute ago and luckily Marion showed up and told me that I had my phone slightly off in the side, in fact it was completely on the side. But I've just realised how to turn my phone vertical, which apparently is what everyone wants and hopefully you can hear me okay. And if anyone's out there listening, I'd really appreciate a comment just to let me know that it's all coming through okay. So, why am I getting involved in the Clickfunnel 30 day challenge? I was asked this on the Clicks and Leads Academy webinar call yesterday by two of my students who know that I always prefer my students to go with a self-hosted version on their websites ideally, to build their business on real estate they own effectively. So, you know, your own domain name, your own hosting, your own business on something you control. I would never say to someone, build your business entirely on someone else's platform.

Hi everyone, it's Nicola here and all the stars have aligned for me to be able to talk to you this week. Basically the camera's charged up, my fringe isn't looking too bad. I've got something to say, which is always a plus. It's a not very sunny day in Stoupa today, which means that it's quite quiet around here. Everyone's, I don't know, off doing excursions I expect. 'Cause they can't all go down the beach. You can probably hear the cicadas in the background. They never shut up, once it gets to a certain temperature. Anyway, no water, that's the thing. But it doesn't stop me. I've got internet intermittently, but no water today because they're probably trying to conserve it 'til everyone comes home wanting a shower later on. Anyway, these are the things that are sent to try us. Living and working abroad. I like it anyway. Let's get on with the show, shall we? So this week I want to talk to you about the power of meditation. Now if you'd have said to me, even four of five years ago, that I'd be meditating regularly, I would have laughed at you. Because I'm not that kind of person. I thought it was a little bit wooley and waffley and yes, it probably made you feel a bit better. A bit rested perhaps, especially if you fell asleep. But I didn't really see what the point of it was. I tried it a few times, quite pleasant. Didn't really do anything. Then I started seeing all these scientific reports that actually prove the power of meditation. I'm nothing if not swayed by a bit of scientific proof. So I started to use meditation myself. I started with a bit of Paul McKenna. Like his voice. He's got some really nice guided meditations I really enjoyed. Yes, it was perfectly pleasant and I suspected it was doing me some good, in my brain somewhere that I couldn't tell the effects of. Yeah so then what happened, then Steve died and I was looking for anything to make myself feel better. Even temporarily. I started listening to a Mind Value Meditation, by Vishen Lakhiani, called The 6 Phase Meditation. I really enjoyed that. It was really positive visualisation. It enabled me to start thinking about what life would be like once I got over the grieving period and what I wanted my life to be looking like later on. One of the things about grieving is you think you're never going to come out of it and having a lifeline to cling on to, by power of guided meditation, about what I wanted my life to be like in the future. It really was a lifeline. It really did help and it actually made me feel better in the moment as well and the days I meditated, I felt better. Especially if I did it in the morning. 'Cause I was less likely to fall asleep then. Then I definitely felt stronger, more calm, more uplifted, more able to cope.  So I've done that for now, well it must be three years, two and a half years anyway. Recently, Judith has introduced me to something a little bit wacky but I would like to recommend it to you, because it's non-denominational. She doesn't talk about religion as such. It talks about the power of the universe. I'm perfectly able to cope with that, even as a staunch atheist that I am.

On the blog Resistance Visualisation What Does Success Mean To You What To Do With Your Goals Beating Resistance - Tip 1 Beating Resistance - Tip 2 What You Focus On Increases Do Your Feelings Control You? Property as a Business Prefer to read? Good morning, it's Nicola here, and today I am coming to you, not live, from Sicky's, one of my favourite haunts in Stoupa. I'm not live because the internet is not good enough either here or next door. And the reason I'm down here even talking to you at all is because my internet at home is not working. It's not been working since Thursday and I've been trying to ring Cosmote, our local telephone providers. And they haven't been picking up at all. So, it's been a little bit frustrating. Yesterday, I was ringing them four a good 4 hours on and off solidly. And it turns out it was a Greek bank holiday and they make have well said that on their recorded announcement, but of course, I don't understand that much Greek. So, I couldn't understand that. Anyway, so I gave up and came down the beach in the end and then went to a party in the evening and tried again this morning at 7 o'clock, 8 o'clock and 9 o'clock. 9 o'clock I got through. The reason I'm telling you all this is because when you're living and working abroad everybody does things differently and you have to be ready to roll with the punches and be a bit flexible. I'm going to lean my elbow on there so I'm not quite as wobbly. It's all about flexibility this week. It's all about what to do when you can't do anything. There's been three reasons why I haven't been able to do anything this week. So, let's get on with the show shall we. Today, I want to talk to you about what it's really like to live and work abroad. Obviously, it's a fabulous day. Let me just show you what I'm looking at today. It's awesome. It's hot. Because you can tell I've caught the sun yesterday. And I have to put factor 30 on because it really is very hot and sunny. But things go wrong, you know. I've got fantastic super fast broadband speed. It works generally 99 percent of the time absolutely fine. But on Thursday night, it decided to go off. It got weaker and weaker and it went and I realised something was seriously wrong when I tried to upload an audio that should've 2 or 3 minutes and it said it was going to take 5 to 7 hours. So, I thought something's wrong here but I didn't know what. So, I started ringing cause the houses in the name of my landlord. I have to get them to ring first then they said that Cosmote said they had to be there. So then it was back onto me. Now you can only ring Cosmote if you have a Greek mobile phone. Now, I have a Greek sim for my mobile but I didn't have a voucher on it. It'd run out. So I ran down to get a voucher and then we were getting ready to call Cosmote and there was just not answer. So this was Monday morning we couldn't work out what was going on. Turns out it was a national election on Sunday and everybody had a bank holiday. They gave them a bank holiday for the next day. So I was trying till lunchtime for four hours on and off and couldn't get through. There was just nobody answering. I got through to someone on sales and then she put me through to technical, but she didn't tell me that technical was shut. Perhaps she didn't know. Then now I've come, I've managed to get through this morning. I was doing it a 7, I was ringing at 8, I was ringing at 9 and there is an option to speak English so I went through to them.

    Do Your Feelings Control You?

Nicola's oldest best friend is visiting Stoupa and that, and what she's learning about trading currencies is making her reflect on how, most of her life, she's been at the mercy of her feelings. Now, she's really 'getting' what she tried to teach her children, that 'this too will pass'. Whether you are building a career, building a business, trading the stockmarket, making a deal or just living your life, you have to get a grip of your feelings. You'll be much happier when you can do that! Clicks And Leads is a "tongue in cheek" digital marketing Vzine by entrepreneur, author, podcaster, speaker, Nicola Cairncross. On the blog Resistance Visualisation What Does Success Mean To You What To Do With Your Goals Beating Resistance - Tip 1 Beating Resistance - Tip 2 What You Focus On Increases White Labelling Your Courses Bigger Thinking Prefer to read? Well, welcome back to the Vzine. It's Nicola here and it's Sunday morning. I'm a bit late recording this because I've had my best friend Kim staying in Stoupa for the last week with her partner Jeremy. It's been great fun to catch up with them. They've fallen in love with the place as everybody does and now Kim's daughters are arriving today along with an old friend Jane and a friend of one of her daughters so it's going to be a girls' week for the next week. So I'm not anticipating much work getting done which is lucky that I've got it set up so that my VA can do a lot of the heavy lifting for me this week. What else have I been up to? I've been swimming everyday because it's been super hot here, not as bad as Italy and France but pretty hot nonetheless. And it's climbing to 37 degrees on Thursday so lots of swimming to be heard this week, that's for sure. Sarah's still here. My sister's staying next door which is nice 'cause that's company yet we have our own places so that's very cool. This week has been an exciting week on the cryptocurrency trading. I've made quite a lot of money this week. And it's wonderful to finally have learned something that I've always been interested in and I've been on many courses for but I haven't managed to grasp yet until recently and I've been doing that by watching the daily, once every three days videos by a guy called Charting Man Dan. If you're at all interested in trading anything really, he's very good at teaching you how to read the technical analysis charts of shares going up and down. He's called The Chart Guys so if you looked for him on YouTube, you'll find him under The Chart Guys and I highly recommend him, he's fantastic. So let's get over the show, shall we? So this week, I wanted to quickly talk to you about feelings. I'm learning to trade cryptocurrencies which is like trading the stock markets, it's a similar kind of thing. It's interesting because when you start to learn to trade, one of the things that you learn is that the markets are driven by greed and fear and they talk about that there's a bull stampeding that way and there's bears stampeding that way and there's buffaloes stampeding along when the market is going sideways and it's all about people's feelings and emotions. So you have to really get to grips with those if you're going to be a successful trader because the whole point of being a successful trader is to buy when the markets dip and sell when the markets are going up which is absolutely 100% opposite to what you want to do. If you've got ownership of a stock or a crypto and it's going up, you naturally want to hang on to it. But what you've got to do is set a target for that and then get out of it just before the top. Now, you can only do that if you're not being gripped by emotion and that you're trading according to a strategy that you created based on looking at the charts. So that's been a really interesting experience. The other thing that's been making me think a lot about feelings is because my friend Kim is in Sto...

If you have created a successful training course, think about whose Members might benefit from your course too. This will create a win/win for both parties and is known as 'white labelling" where you re-create your course inside someone else's Membership area. You will usually get paid on a "per user" basis or you can even negotiate a "buy out" free for a certain period of time. Or consider a mix of the two! Well, it's been a fun old week this week. I've been simultaneously really busy and simultaneously lying about a lot on the beach. It's been very hot, so you try to get your computer close by too and get down the beach every afternoon. And Saturday and Sunday, I spent nearly all day down there, marvellous! So what have I been up to this week? Well, I have been setting up a T-shirt company when I've always wanted a product-driven company as well, and I finally had a bit of a brainwave about how I could lightly monetize something I do for passion which is run the Stoupa Life Group on Facebook. Now, there's lots and lots and lots of people joining this all the time and I've been sort of trying to find a way to make a little bit of cash out just to cover the cost, really. But I didn't really want to make it too commercial so we had the idea on the beach on Sunday to set up a T-shirt company with just a Stoupa Life logo. So that's what I've been doing today and it's going live soon on StoupaLifeShop.com. So I'd have to get my daughter Phoebe out to model some of the T-shirts soon, although they do have a fantastic way of using their in-house models to get you started. So if there's anything you're thinking of monetizing, anything you've got passion around, any group you run that's got lots and lots and lots of people and you can't think what those people might like to buy, sometimes, it's just a matter of starting a T-shirt company where the logos are on the T-shirt because people want to be part of a tribe. So we'll see how that goes when I launch it on Saturday because of course, I limit commercial ads in the group to Small Business Saturdays. That includes me too. So yeah, I'll tell you about the rest of the week as we go through the episode today. This week, I'd like to talk about how to white label your products because what I found is that there are specific groups of people who respond very, very well to the whole Be Everywhere Online concept. The first group was Amazon store holders and I found that out by being invited to speak to some Amazon store holders in Australia a couple of years ago and about 25% of the room signed up to my Be Everywhere Online Programme then. And this year, I went again to speak to even more of them, a bigger crowd, and 30% of the room signed up to join my Be Everywhere Online Tuition then. And when I was in Vegas, Las Vegas for the Mastermind. I'd presented three times on the Be Everywhere Online concept. And afterwards, someone came up to me and said they had a whole tribe of therapists, hypnotherapists who were very, very good at what they did but who weren't so good at marketing themselves and this person had heard on the grapevine, because he wasn't at any of my tables, that the Be Everywhere Online concept might be good for his audience, his community. So we're just working our way through talking about the potential for that, how we would do it, how I would be willing to let my intellectual property be used, and how I could set that up within his world garden, as he called it, which means his membership area rather than mine,...

One of the best ways to create passive income is to create something of value that you can leverage again and again. Nicola is uploading the audio version of her book "The Money Gym" to Audible and is excited to get started on the promotion for that. Working with the publisher of the print version, Nicola's planning a marketing campaign where anyone buying the book for 99p and writing / screenshotting a review, will get a free copy of the audiobook. She's planning a series of "Ask Me Anything" Facebook Lives to promote this offer. She's also in talks with someone who wants to "white-label" her "Be Everywhere Online" marketing course for their audience, where Nicola delivers it once then they pay her an amount per future user in a "buyout" agreement. What could you create that you could make money from over and over again? Prefer to read? Hi it's Nicola here, and it's a glorious 30 degrees-something in Greece today. I'm off down the beach any minute, which is why I have my sunglasses on. It's going to be sunny all day, all weekend, something like 37 degrees; looking forward to it. First swim in the sea, perhaps it might be hot enough for that. Yeah, it's been a great week here at Cairncross Towers, I have had a meeting with someone who I met in Las Vegas, we had a zoom meeting with his ops director this week. Basically, what he wants to do is licence the right to use my material inside his membership site. He's got three thousand therapists who haven't got a clue how to market themselves online, and he thinks that my "Be Everywhere Online" programme will be fantastic. Now, that really is a great result for me because he wants me to go in, deliver it, create it all again in his membership area, and then I get paid a royalty for everyone who actually goes through the programme, which is great fun. They get to create a new source of income without having to do the actual work, I get another source of income from something I've already done most of the work on, and that is really very cool indeed. So, I'm very excited about that. Intellectual property is a marvellous thing. I want to talk a bit more about that in the middle section, so lets go straight on over there, shall we? I have spent all of this week getting my Money Gym book onto Audible. This involved me reading it out, which I had done several years ago, actually, but I had to go through and edit it all to make sure that all the "ums" and the "ahhs" and the "oh my gods" when I made a mistake were all edited out, because obviously you want the best quality product you can put onto Audible, because people will be paying a significant sum of money. But, yeah, I'm looking forward to that. I have always given away the audio in the past, but I think getting it onto Audible will open up a whole new market, and it's been a bit of a slog, but the best thing of all is, it's my intellectual property, I wrote the book, and I've got several books more that I can also get onto Audible now. Now I know the process, it's actually very easy indeed, and it's giving my intellectual property another run for it's money, if you like, and the best thing about that is that I'm going to be able to use it for a promotion for the whole My Gym book concept, because when Audible's ready, I can then do something to promote the Amazon book, and I can get my publishers to drop the cost of the Amazon book down to 99p for a limited time. Then I can do, say, a week-long promotion, and if anyone goes along and buys the book on Amazon for 99p,

Prefer to read? Well welcome back everybody, it's Nicola here and I just wanted to say thank you very much for putting up with all my ramblings about the Mastermind in Vegas. In this episode I'm going to share with you a clip from a karaoke I did. Now I'd just like to preface that by saying that I really can't sing at all but I think I can. I've got a sister who's an opera singer and she sings jazz and my kids can both sing and my ex-husband can sing so I can't quite get it through my head that I can't sing. But I had a lot of fun. I did "Midnight Train to Georgia" with my new friend, Dr. Alvin Hill, I'll just have to check that. I'll let you know in the description which one's the right one and we just had so much fun. He says he can't sing either but he sang a whole lot better than me but the point was I was so full of adrenaline and excitement and gratitude and I never did karaoke. I've never done karaoke in my life apart from once before but I just felt so overflowing with fun that I just couldn't stop myself. It was painful but fun. And my kids are just like wringing their hands together with despair really. Anyway, the point was I enjoyed it, and that's all that counts. So I've shared that with you and some other clips as well. So yeah let's get on with the show shall we? Yes well here we go. So moving forward from the Mastermind, what do I do moving forward? I've got so many new things on the go. I've got the redesign of my website, NicolaCairncross.com coming up and I've basically received some of the designs from the graphic design company in Australia who I won the prize from and they are pretty good. I wasn't sure at first because it's new and it's different and you take time to get used to things but when I showed them to people alongside the old website which I actually quick like they were all oh my god, it's a million times better, you've got to go with it. So I've got over myself and I've having, we're finalising the designs on the main pages now and then I've got to find someone to build this site for me and turn it into thrive architect because I want to be able to have control over the content of course. So that's happening, what else is happening? I've come to the end now of the editing of The Money Gym audio, so I'm just about to investigate how to get that on to Audible and then what Audible for you is you get unlimited promotional vouchers for it so people can go and download it I think as their first free Audible recording so you have a promotion on Amazon and you reduce the cost of your Kindle Book down to 99p and on the same week you can actually promote people who give you a review and give them a free copy of Audible, the Audible versions. So that's what I'm a try to do cause reviews are key on Amazon and I've never really done this with my books, I've never sought reviews, I've never actively promoted the book to get reviews, and I've only just found out really how important that is, so yeah if you can get 100 reviews then apparently you're off to a flying start. So it would be a good time to relaunch it. So I've come up with a scheme to be able to promote the whole thing on Facebook without annoying the Facebook algorithm and that is I'm going to write the missing chapter so I'm going to write an update to The Money Gym,

Okay, welcome back everyone. So, Nicola here, and I'm back in Greece, and still reflecting on the week I spent in Las Vegas. It was just quite incredible. The thing I didn't mention in last week's vzine was how humble everybody was, how down-to-earth everyone was. I mean, one of the attendees was the saxophonist from Pink Floyd, Toto and Supertrapp and he was just the nicest man. He was just lovely, and so was everybody else. There was no egos at all. It was very much filled with an attitude of gratitude. Everybody there was so thankful and happy and grateful to be there. It was just the most wonderful, wonderful atmosphere. And we had some really young entrepreneurs there as well. There was Allena, who's just put her first book on Amazon, and she's 11 years old. And also, Andy's two children, Sarah and David were there. And Sarah's about 16, and David's 19, and of course he came away very fired up from the whole thing. So let's talk about how I'm feeling this week in the middle section and how I'm dealing with everything I learnt and what I plan to do with it. Okay, so this week in the middle section as always, I want to tell you what's happening with me, and then try and draw a lesson from that that might help you in your business. So this week, I'm back from Las Vegas. I'm over my jetlag. I'm feeling a little bit run down from all the adrenaline that was coursing through my system. That's the only excuse I can think of 'cause I'm sleeping well enough for it not to be jetlag anymore. I wanted to just talk a little bit about how I'm coping with the overwhelm of all the opportunities that came to me while I was in Vegas and how do you even begin to start? I've come back to my usual workload, which is not onerous, to be honest, but I've now got to fit in all these new projects that I want to do and follow up with all the great people I met. So how do you do that? What I normally do is go about it by listing everything and putting it into a grid, a four-square grid. And, top left-hand corner of the grid is 'important and urgent'. This is a Stephen Covey: "Seven habits of highly effective people." So you might recognise it if you've read that book. And top right-hand corner is 'urgent but not important'. No, I lie. It's 'important, but not urgent'. And then on the bottom left-hand corner, it's 'urgent but not important', and then the bottom right-hand corner is 'not urgent, and not important'. So you try and categorise your tasks like that and obviously, you do the important and urgent stuff first, which is recording this vzine for me, because I really was very bad when I was away. I just couldn't make myself do it at all. I just never seem to have time, I never seem to be in the right place, I never seem to have the energy, or, y'know I was just firefighting all my energy levels all the time. Yeah, so catching up with the vzine is important and urgent. Catching up with podcast editing, catching up with Write Club, my hobby podcast I do with the girls. So those are all really urgent things, and important too. Moving on to the important but not urgent things.

When you are invited to spend eight days in Las Vegas with 110 of the most brilliant minds in your industry, what do you say? YES!! obviously! With speakers like Marisa Peer, Joe Sugarman and Marianne Williamson who had just smashed her requirements for running for President in 2020, the whole event was a massive high. Bowling, welcome party at Liberace's Mansion, a Desert Party, yacht trip round Lake Las Vegas, karaoke and Thai food, 3 x days masterminding and learning from each other, then a Farewell Party at the EverMentor Mansion, what a week I had. What's the point of Masterminds though? Nicola share's what she got out of it all in the middle section of this week's vzine. Okay, so, hi everyone, it's Nicola here, and I'm back from Las Vegas as you can see, back in the sleepy house in Greece. Which is quite a relief. I can tell you, it's been quite full on. Eight days of partying. Both in the evenings, and also either partying or masterminding in the day. It was hard work but we had some time between to enjoy the luxury, the luxury bedrooms and bathrooms in the Palm Springs Hotel and I was on the 30th floor, but I could still hear the pool party at the KAOS open day and night club. So, that took a bit of getting used to at the weekends, I can tell you. If you want a completely full report on what happened in Vegas and everything I got out of it, I'm going to give you a little rundown in a minute. Then you will need to check out episode 227 of ownitthepodcast.com, which will be coming out in a week or so, because we go into it in quite some detail in that. So, in the mean time, I'm going to give you a little rundown in the middle section, and I hope you enjoy it. Let's get on with the show, shall we? Okay, so as always, what I want to do in these middle sections is to tell you what I've been up to, and what I've learned and what you can take away from that to apply in your business. So, I've been on this amazing mastermind in Las Vegas, and it was put together originally to thank a bunch of people who helped my friend Andy get his books off the ground initially, the Bug Free Mind books. And it's grown into much more than that, because they really did such a great job on the first mastermind event that people really just wanted to come back year after year. So what's it all about then? We spent a few days getting together, and getting to know each other, and reacquainting ourselves with people we've met before. We spent a lot of time just talking about what we've been doing over the last year or so. And then after a couple of days of that, of parties and lunches and just hanging out, we go and we have three days of masterminding, and that involves all sorts of things. From people speaking, like Alex Mandossian, Perry Belcher, if you know any of these names, they're really well known in the internet marketing space. And then from personal development world we had some of the people who were attending, and some of the people who were sponsoring events. And then we had some really big names like Joe Sugarman, who is a legendary ad man, and who's now making millions selling blue light deflecting glasses. So if you see people around with those orange glasses on, Joe's responsible for those. And two of the other speakers were Marisa Peer, who is an incredibly high level therapist. She works with royalty and pop stars and movie stars. And she was speaking for us, and she's a big cheese in the Mindvalley community, and I was really looking forward to her speaking,

Hi, it's Nicola here. And I just wanted to say happy Easter from Greece, yes we have our Easter weekend on a different weekend to yours, and then we've just had it here. And it's been amazing, I went down to our local taverna Melissa's and they had a lot of meat on the spit, doesn't sound very attractive does it? But it was absolutely delicious, roast lamb to you and me. As you can hear I'm outside again and with all the accompany noises of people doing up their houses, and motorbikes going past, and people with diggers and dumpers, and all sorts of activity going on here getting ready for the summer season. So, yeah, I thought I'd come outside and speak to you today from the balcony before the mozzies start taking over. I actually saw one, I let a bee out earlier and a mozzie came in, it seems you can't have one bit of wildlife without the other. Anyway, that's enough waffling from me lets get on with the show, shall we? Sometimes it's a bit of a slog to think about what to talk about in these middle bits. I usually just have to cast my mind back over the previous week and see what things have come up either for me or for clients and what lessons I've learned or re-learned, indeed, because lessons keep coming, they just keep coming over and over again until you actually get them. I call that the universe kicking your butt. And so today I was really surprised when I went onto Amazon just to get a link for my book, and I found that it'd been reduced on Prime to £1.59 for a copy of my book, The Money Gym. And what I didn't realise was there was only a limited time promotion, I didn't realise that at all. But I acted quickly, I got some information out on my page, on my profile, I sent an email to my list saying "You can get a physical copy of the book "for just 1.59 right now, if you're a Prime member." Lots of people went and bought it and all the activity has sent me straight to number one in some strange categories I didn't even know I was in. One being management and marketing, you wouldn't have thought a book about wealth creation and financial intelligence would've been in management and marketing, but apparently, back in the mists of time, that's where my publisher put it. And the other one was accounting and audit, well that's an exciting selling category, isn't it? I'm absolutely delighted to be number one today, as we speak, in management accounting and auditing category on Amazon so go and check that out.  Number four on the other one, which is management accounting, and number 37 in the category that I actually want to be found in, which is personal finance. What it has led me to do is contact my publisher and suggest we move a couple of categories because the book's still really sound. I mean it could do with a tiny bit of an update to include block chain technology and perhaps cryptocurrencies as an investment asset class now, because they are growing in leaps and bounds. So that's probably the only bit I'd update right now, otherwise the book's still solid. So if you haven't got a copy of The Money Gym yet, do go over to Amazon and check whether there's a special offer on, or just go to themoneygym.com and I've put links to buy on Amazon UK and Amazon USA. There's nothing like having a physical copy of a book I don't think,

Hi there, it's Nicola here and this is my second attempt at doing this because yesterday I managed to turn the camera off when I was talking and turn it on when I wasn't, which made for some very interesting footage in between I can tell you. I look a bit pink because I've just washed and blow-dried my hair in spite of the fact I'm going to the hairdresser later. Where's the logic in that? But it looks so bad I thought, I can't possibly even go down to the village with it looking that bad. So big news this week on two fronts. I've been invited to write some articles for Agora Financial Division, which is coming along under the auspices of Rich Schefren. I was asked to contribute the articles by none other than Chuck Dolce, who used to be Rich's copywriter and who I met when I went on a weekend retreat to- well where was it? It was Florida somewhere. I can't remember the name of the place, it was lovely anyway. So I'm very happy to be working with Chuck on this, he's the Editor in Chief and he's also helping me to not- long articles into shape, but I'm really excited because all of the Agora properties get an awful lot of traffic. The other big deal this week, is that our own at the podcast not only has had it's biggest week of downloads ever, we've had over 5,000 downloads in a week which is just astonishing, but we've also hit the 100,000 download mark which is just amazing, isn't it? And that's one of the things I'm going to talk about in the middle section, I want to talk about all the things that we do, me and Judith, separately and together where we don't know what's going to happen, we don't know if it's going to make any difference, we don't know if it's going to work. And talk a bit about the outcomes, and the trap that's hidden there. Hope you enjoy the show this week. Let's get on with it, shall we? Okay, so this week our podcast hit 100,000 downloads. That is absolutely unbelievable. And in the same week, we magically have had something like 5,000 downloads in a week. Now, you'd think that you'd be able to puzzle out how this kind of thing could happen, wouldn't you? But no, we can't figure it out at all. And the interesting thing is, that is seems to be not one episode that spiked which you'd expect if say, an influencer or someone on Twitter with a big following had picked up on an episode and shared it, that would've spiked just that episode, but no we're actually getting growth over all the episodes. I look at the downloads on some of the earlier episodes, I can see that we get between two and ten downloads a month, or that's been the case up until now. We're now across the board, getting 20 to 30 downloads in the last month, for every early episode, it's quite astonishing. So, I don't know what's caused it, all I can say is I'm happy and grateful that it's happened. Now, the podcast is an interesting one because Judith works out that it takes us about six man hours to create it every week. It certainly doesn't feel like that. We do a little bit of, I don't know,

But most people are getting together this afternoon as they're sort of arriving in, so I'm going to go down and meet a few people that I've met only online, which is going to be exciting. I've had an amazing week, I've had just an incredible week. I was speaking for a big corporate coaching company on Thursday night, and then they took me out to dinner at Cafe Sydney on Friday night, which was just the most incredible view over Sydney Harbour from the customs house. Then I went down to Wollonngong to see my friends Lorraine and George. Lorraine, where I shared flats with her when we were in our teens, so that's how long we've known each other. And I had to go down on the train and they got the most amazing trains here, they're double deckers! I don't know why I found that so exciting, but I did. So you step onto the train at platform level, and then you can either go upstairs or downstairs. Fabulous. I do, I do get excited about silly things. And that was really lovely. Lorraine laid out a spread in her garden. And it wasn't particularly sunny but it was warm enough to see outside and they've got a little deck and a pool and everything, as they all do over here. And then what happened? Yeah, I've just had a really incredible time going around. I've had my nails done, I've been resting, I've been learning about writing from a master class I bought, and I've been treating myself to lots of lovely deli kind of food and the odd meal out as well as hanging out with my brother quite a lot which is nice. So let's get on with the show, shall we? So this week I want to talk to you about story telling in your marketing. As you probably know, I'm learning how to become an author, how to write a novel, fiction. It's really quite hard work, but there are some principles that I'm finding incredibly helpful in my own marketing and the first principle of storytelling is that, usually, things are told in what's called three acts. So you have the first quarter of a book, then you have the last quarter of a book, and you have the middle section of a book. And this is called the First Act, and this is where the ordinary world of the hero happens and then at the end of the First Act, in what's called an inciting incident happens. An inciting incident is something that calls the hero to adventure and makes them have to make a choice about whether they stay in their ordinary world or go off on this adventure. In the middle section, things now happen to challenge the hero, so there is usually one, possibly two, complications in the hero's life. And at the end of that middle section, at the 75% point, yes that's right, then there's usually some sort of climax or crisis that make the hero have to recommit to their journey or change in some way, there's a change in the hero, and often a change in their circumstances, too. Perhaps a mentor has come along and helped them or given them something special that will enable them knowledge or a tool or a trick of some kind, or magic, that enables them to overcome the crisis at the end of this part of the book. And then the final section of the book is where everything gets resolved.

Well, welcome back to the Vzine. It's Nicola here, and I'm back in my brother's flat in Sydney. And you can see I'm a little bit hot actually. It's quite warm here and I'm back from the Gold Coast and it was even warmer there. I spent four days in a fabulous hotel, largely being thunder and lightening, not so much sunshine. It was a very humid four days. But, "How did the conference go", I hear you ask. Well, it was absolutely brilliant. We had four amazing days with some nearly 200 fantastic Amazon entrepreneurs. There was a cocktail party on the first night, then there was one full day of conference and lots of different speakers including Neil Asher who was putting the conference on, and then I was on first thing on Sunday morning. So I largely spent Saturday tinkering with my presentation. It was a good solid presentation two years ago, but I want to bring it right bang up to date, and also to put in some elements that had come to me when I was talking to people on the Friday night. So, I did that and then I got on stage at 9:15 on Sunday morning. People were already in the room because Neil had done a presentation at 8 o'clock which is incredibly early when you think about it, on a Sunday. And as I moved through the presentation I felt so confident and happy to be up there, because I'd met a lot of the audience already, it was really, really nice and friendly, everybody was laughing at my jokes, particularly the ones at Neil's expense. And at the end of it when I said to people, "If you'd like my help, just put your hand up and we'll make sure you get a form to come and join Clicks and Leads Academy, and work through the 'Be Everywhere Online' programme", everybody put their hands up, it was absolutely astonishing. So my goal was to do better than two years ago, when 25% of the room signed up to Clicks and Leads Academy, and this year 30% of the room, and the room was twice as big. It was just unreal. I'm on a high, I'm on a massive high, I cannot believe it. Lots and lots of lovely new clients, all of whom are serious business people, all of whom I'm convinced I can help to take their Amazon businesses to the next level, so I'm really excited about that. But let's get on with the show shall we, cause I've got quite a lot to tell you. Okay, so, what did I share on stage with the Amazon entrepreneurs? Well, we were driving home to them that you can't just rely on Amazon itself to bring you traffic. You have to find some external method of bringing traffic to your store once it's set up. And even better than that, if you can build a landing page to send that traffic to first, then you've not only got a reason for people to-- and you can actually give people discount vouchers as a reason to give you their name and email before they even get to your store. And the other important thing about having a landing page is that you can actually put pixels on it. You can put Google remarketing pixels, Facebook remarketing pixels, and Twitter remarketing pixels on that page.

Okay well, in this section I want to tell you a little bit how I got to Sydney in the first place, it was a really, very spooky story, very funny story. Last year some time my mentor, James Schramko, has an event and he put the event tickets for sale, and they're very, very cheap if you buy immediately, so I did that, not knowing whether I'd want to come or not. Not knowing if I'd be ready to get out of Greece, and whether, you know, I was feeling in the mood to travel or anything yet. But I trusted that I would be by this time, because it's now three years since Steve died and I'm not, I miss him every day, but I'm feeling better on a day to day basis. So I bought my ticket anyway and within two days of buying my ticket my friend Neil contacted me and he said, "Do you want to come and speak for my Aussie Online Entrepreneurs again?" He said, "I'd love to have you, "I'm going to be going over there, and you can "stay in my Airbnb and all that business, "I'll make it as easy for you as I can." And so I looked at the dates and James' event is the 3rd and 4th of April, and Neil's event was the 16th and 17th of March. Well that is just phenomenally close, I couldn't believe how close they were, two or three weeks in between them. So I then thought, well okay, I can only do this if I don't have to stay in a hotel, because that would just be ridiculous, and I thought about an Airbnb, and then my brother popped up into my mind and I thought, well he came and stayed with me for five weeks back in Greece last year, so I'm sure he could put up with me for two or three weeks in betwe...

I've been feeling a bit downhearted this week after two bits of robust feedback, one of which made me feel told off and one of which made me feel a bit useless at something I'm working hard to learn. I shared how I felt with a friend, who is actually spectacularly successful at this thing and he immediately pulled me up and reminded me that I need only take feedback from people who have successfully done what I want to do, quite frankly, nobody else's opinion counts. I'm staying with Phoebe and Nelson for a few days on route to Australia. And, of course, while I'm in Australia the whole Brexit thing's going to kick off. So I'll be coming back after that happens. And who knows whether they'll let me into any of the countries I want to go to when I come back. We'll have to wait and see won't we? So, one of the first things that happened when I got back was that Phoebe and I went to lunch with a very charismatic character called Fox. Who I've known for a little while now. He and his partner were in the back of a Worthing Chamber of Commerce speaking gig I did. And it was really great, 'cause they immediately started to talk to me afterwards. And we realised that we had a lot in common. And we had lunch and got to know each other. Anyway, Phoebe and I went for lunch with Fox, and he is watching these videos, which is really interesting, because when you're making them, sometimes you think that you're talking to just one person. I always try and picture my ideal client. I've got several ideal clients. So I sort of picture them in my head when I'm talking to them. And Fox I didn't think would ever become a client of mine. But he's actually making noises like he'd like to work with me. Which is really cool. And also he'd like to work with Phoebe. Which is even more cool. And the funny thing is that you just make these videos, and you don't know who's watching. And there's lots of people watching out there, and they're all thinking, do I like this person? Does she have anything that she could teach me? Does she have anything that she could do for me? And am I getting a sense from these videos that this is someone I would like to work with? So, you've got to keep doing them though, because the lack of response sometimes makes you think there's nobody watching. But I can promise you, there is. And Fox was very complimentary about the message in the videos, and the way I deliver them. And the fact that he really feels that he can relate to me through what I'm saying on these one minute videos and my VZINES. So, it was a very nice reminder that there are people listening and people watching, and that I should keep going with them even sometimes when I don't feel like it. So thank you very much to everyone who watches and listens. I really appreciate you. I'm off to the pictures tonight with Phoebes. We've been having a lovely lazy weekend, after going out on Friday night to the local. And we're going to see, I'm not actually sure, it's an action adventure thriller with a young female part person part cartoon protagonist. So, I'm looking forward to seeing that, because I'm trying to write action thrillers at the moment. I've got more to say about that in a little bit. So, let's get on with the show, shall we? So,

Well, welcome to the Vzine this week. It is the 26th of February, and it's T-shirt weather already. Uh, So, that's the thing about Greece when it's bad weather it's very bad weather but it only lasts for a couple of months, and yes I was sitting out on the front step earlier thinking, I can't do this without sun block because I will burn, and that's absolutely fabulous. I love the thing of coming up the stairs in the morning, opening up my blinds and seeing sunshine, that just makes me happy. I don't know why, it just does. So, Um, I was thinking about happiness a lot recently because I've just read a fantastic book all about a woman who lost her husband, and how she dealt with that and then I was listening to Steve Bartlett's dairy of an CEO and he was asking, you know, who are you a slave to, are you a slave to your own happiness or are you a slave to other things that don't really matter. Gary Vaynerchuk's also been talking about it recently and it's uh, an illusive beast this happiness and I think it only comes in short waves. I think the best you can hope for most of the time is peace, peacefulness with occasional shots of joy. That's what I'm aiming for nowadays and uh if I just get that, then I'll be happy, and of course having something to do that gives you meaning, whether that's your day job or whether it's a hobby, that is another way to make yourself happy, but finally the thing that I would really recommend to everybody is meditation. I am a late comer to meditation. I only did it about, well I suppose a year ago I started properly meditating, with guided meditations on a regular basis and I find that it makes the most incredible difference to my levels of happiness. So, um if you're new to all this I would recommend you go and download Mind valley quests app, and there is uh several meditations on that, guided mediation, which means you don't have to try and think empty thoughts and the one I love the most is Vishen Lakhiani's 6 phase meditation, which takes, you can ether do it in bits so you can do um, each of the 6 phases individually or you could do the whole lot together, which takes about 15 minutes. Highly recommend it, totally free, download it on the app store and see what it does to your levels of happiness. Right, let's get on with the show shall we? I've got some brilliant interludes for you this week. Prefer to read? Yes. Well, welcome to the VZINE this week and I've got something very special to share with you this if you're even remotely a little bit techy. But before we get started let's just tell you it's been a really good week in Greece and I know that you guys are having a heatwave in England at the moment, while we've just got a load of snow coming from Athens. So, that's something to look forward to. But I seem to have caught the sun none-the-less. I'm a little bit rosy today because I've been sitting in the sun all week. I try and get out every day. Go and sit down my favourite cafe, look at the sea, and have a hot chocolate, and I love that very much. So, yeah let's get on with the show shall we? I'll tell you all I've got to tell you. So, one of the most powerful things you can do when you've got a website is to split test the key pages and the idea is that if you're not getting very much traffic you would just want to split test one particular thing, so, say the headline or the colour of the call to action button or something like that but you only need one thing at a time. Now, it used to be quite tricky to do this, you used to have to set up two different versions of your page and then split the traffic between them and you'd generally have to pay for some kind of software tool but the good news is that Google Analytics have now. I think they've bought Optimise, which is something I used to use a lot, because it's all free now and so if you are able to put a bit of Google Analytics code on your website, which most people can manage how to do, then you can also add a bit of Google Optimise code to your website too and it goes in the header tag, if you know what that is, or just in your general scripts box if you've got a theme that's got a place where you've got a place where you can add scripts and it goes in exactly the same place as your Facebook, Pixel, and all the bits of code like that. So, you can send it to your developer, if you've got a developer, but the trick is just to get the Analytics code and the Optimise code onto every page of your website. Then you go and log into your Google Optimise account and you link it up to your Analytics account, which is all quite self explanatory, I managed to puzzle it out very quickly and then you can click on any page on your website and you can click on the little Chrome extension, which is Google Optimise in Chrome extension, and you can just choose an element of your page to change. It's absolutely magic! And, so I would start with a headline or start with a page with a picture or without a picture or you can split test two different pictures or you can split test the call to action button colour. All different kinds of things. So, you're looking to do A B split testing and just test one element on each important page. It is so exciting, I can't tell you, because the only thing is that you are going to end up with a page that performs, and the variant that you don't like the most will be the one that performs the best. So,

Hi everyone, Nicola here. Hope you're all well. So, what's been happening this week? I've been booking flights to Australia. It's a terrifying thing, I can tell you. I've had to book a flight from England to Australia and Australia back to England. I've had to book flights from Athens to England and then from England back to Kalamata because we're in the period where, when I'm away, it's the period where they change over and you can actually get direct flights to the local airport. I don't know why I find it so terrifying, booking flights, I think it's something about the commitment of it all and the thought of being in the air for all that time, I've got to say. I'm not very good at long-term committing in advance, I much prefer to do things on the spur of the moment so typically, I've left this to the very last minute. Luckily, I didn't have too much extra to pay, there was very cheap flights available with Air China but they were something like 32 or 38 hours long, meaning a very long stop-over somewhere like Bangkok. And I didn't really fancy that so I decided to opt for paying the extra couple hundred quid and having a 21 and 23 hour flight instead, so while I'm not looking forward to it, I think I've made the best of it. It's with a decent airline and it's laying over in Dubai which, you know, is really quite a pleasant airport. So yeah, I made myself do it the other day. It was quite hard, psychologically, to make myself do it but I just got on with it and finally, I've got all the confirmations and everything. I also had a little bit of a thing where you had to wait, I wanted to pay on my debit card but I didn't want to do that because if, you know, my airline went bust just before Christmas so I thought I'd better hang on and do it on my credit card instead, so that's what I did. Apparently, you're covered. Still trying to get my money back from the one that went bust, though. Anyway, let's get on with the show, shall we? So, you may notice this week I'm a little bit red in the face. That's because I have just had a rather hot shower. That's because it gets a little bit cold in these houses in the winter, unless you've got the fire on, which I haven't, I don't tend to do during the day. So, hot shower followed by getting dressed, followed by blow drying hair because I'm talking to you guys, equals red face. So I was thinking to myself, oh, I better hang on till my face goes down a bit and then I thought no, don't do that because I'm already late with this vzine and I need to get it to Phoebe so she can do the editing. And she won't be happy if I give it to her late and then expect it done on a quick turnaround. So, even though I'm bright red and that's not the ideal scenario, I thought no, I've got to just press on, because if I don't get started, I won't get done and I need to go out soon. So I was thinking about this in conjunction with the whole thing about booking my airline flights and hanging on as long as possible to do that. It's a combination of being reluctant to commit myself, trying to wait for the most ideal set of circumstances, but then the pressing deadline comes and you have to get the thing done,

Let's get on with the show shall we? Okay, so this week I wanted to talk to you about my new hobby. And before you turn off, it's got some learning in it for you, so bear with. Basically I'm trying to write a book, I'm trying to write a science fiction book because that's the kind of books I love to read to myself. And I joined a writing club about two years ago and after about three months of going along, and they knew I could write because I've written business books, but after about three months of going along, I finally had an idea. Well, the idea has morphed out of all recognition as I've been sort of slowly and painfully working on it and the thing that I was finding very frustrating was that a lot of the learning around how to write a book was being delivered to me in a way that wasn't suiting me in that I'm a visual learner and then kinesthetic is my second learning style, so I like look and then do. So anything that's drawings or things I can watch is great and anything that lays things out visually is even better. And then I like to do, and learn as I do. So, I've been faffing about for about a year or so on this book, and I've got about, something like, five chapters written. And then I discovered, I can't remember how I came across him, but I think I was looking for an editor because I had found that working with an editor before you finish your book is a really good idea. So I went looking for a science fiction editor. And I found a guy called Shawn Coyne. Now, Shawn is the creator of a thing called The Story Grid. And then he worked with an author called Steven Pressfield. And the first time he worked with him, he was working on one of Steven's books about an ancient war in Greece, and it was set locally which is a bit of a spooky coincidence, don't you think? Anyway, so that got my attention as well, and then I suddenly realised that Steven Pressfield is not just a fiction writer, he's a writer of inspirational, personal development self help books.

There's been a big change in my business. A very, very trusty V.A., Sara, has gone off to do her own thing, and passes new, etc. And, I've been training and inducting a new V.A., who comes from the Philippines. I did look at people around Europe, but the standout application hands down on the covering letter was this lady Margelle, so she's on for a month's trial, and fingers crossed that'll go okay. The whole changeover thing was quite an emotional experience for me, and it made me think a lot about my various personality quirks, and how my feelings are affected by business things, and how that then, in turn, affects my business performance. The middle section this week is all about that, and I hope you enjoy it, and I hope you recognise perhaps some traits in yourself that I could help you get over if I was your coach and mentor perhaps. I hope you enjoy that section. Let me know, as always, I welcome your comments underneath where you're seeing this video. Good morning, it's Nicola here, and I'm embarking on a set of videos this week that are revealing all the dark, dirty secrets of my personality. Now, I'm going to reveal something about myself. I am a co-dependent personality type. Lots of reason for this. Didn't have a very great childhood. Mom was a bit mad, disappearing parent, but I think I managed to get on quite well regardless, and I think that I know enough about myself to be able to overcome my shortcomings in business. One of the first things that occurred to me when I was thinking about this whole personality type and how it affects you in business and me being a bit co-dependent is that I tend to pay myself last. I tend to put myself at the back of the queue for paying myself a salary for my business. I'll pay everybody first, including all my suppliers, and I will very rarely try and negotiate instalments and things like that. If things come along that knock my financial boat off its moorings. What I've started to do recently, is to go along with the precepts put forward in a book called Profit First by Michael Mich... I can never say his name, Michalowicz. An absolutely brilliant book. It's all about what is the point of being in business if you're not taking a profit out of the business. Because, if you don't pay yourself first, then you're the most important person in the business. You're the one that has to get up every morning. You're the one that has to make things happen, and if you're not getting paid a decent living wage from your business, then what is the point? You have to ask yourself. So there it is, that's the first thing. Pay yourself first, pay yourself well, and don't let yourself be at the back of the queue to get paid from your business. Now, another thing I tend to do as a co-dependent personality type is to put everybody else's feelings first, to take responsibility for the feelings and the happiness of the people in my business. And that's one of the reasons why I've hesitated to hire people.

It's been thunderstorms, it's been hail, and lots of snow on the mountains. I'm pretty toasty warm because that, that stove over there works a treat. This week, it's all been about neighbourliness. One of my very good friends just a few doors up has been taken ill unexpectedly and her husband has been having to go to Kalamata, which is a 45 minute to an hour drive each way, and he's obviously worried sick about her. And so all the neighbours in Stoupa have been taking it in turns to take him in and it was my turn today. We've also been dropping food round for him as well, and people have been inviting him to dinner because he's not known for his cooking skills. But she's on the mend, we think, I saw her today briefly, and she seemed much brighter, although the weird food they give you in ICU in Greek hospitals is really strange, it's like a sort of rice gruel. I wouldn't want that at all, no matter how ill I was. So, get well soon Stella, I know you don't watch this, but get well soon anyway. I've learned some stuff this week, so I'm going to tell you all about that in the next bit. This week on the Own It podcast We were talking a lot about when you should hire a coach or a mentor and what you should look for in that coach or mentor. And I've had a fantastic experience this week of actually just talking to someone who is a very experienced business person, I might add, and they asked me one question which shifted my whole thinking about everything. And the reasons really, you need a coach and a mentor, I just made some notes here, is that you don't know what you don't know and you don't know lots of things. You know, you don't know the pitfalls, you don't know the things that can go wrong, you don't know the ways to save time and money, there's a lot that you don't know, but your mentor or coach will know. The great questions thing is really important. A coach will know, a good coach, a trained coach will know the kind of questions to ask you to get you thinking differently. That's exactly what happened to me this week, and I want to tell you about that in a minute. And there are other ways to do things. There are ways that work better, there are ways that you might not have thought of, there are ways that other people would do it differently to you. And that's really valuable to be able to knock those kind of ideas around with someone who is very experienced, ideally in the thing that you want to achieve. So this happened to me this week. My sister Sarah is moving on to pastures new and I'm recruiting for a new VA. And I was getting quite stressed about it, because Sarah's, while she's making all the training videos and tick lists and things for the new person,

Hi, Nicola here and I just wanted to show you that I was back in Stoupa and what the beach looks like with no sunbeds at all. It's all very strangely empty. But it's lovely and sunny, it's the middle of January and I've just spent the whole last hour or so sitting outside in the sunshine, which is why I'm probably looking a bit pink. But anyway I wanted to welcome you back and let's get on with the show, shall we. The first question that I see a lot is what is social media marketing? It's a way of getting closer to your customers. It's a way of building a relationship with your customers or your potential future customers indeed. It's a way of people getting to know, like and trust you, over your competition. And it's a way of attracting people to you that like your style. It's a way of sharing information about your business that makes your business more relatable, less business-like, more personable. In conclusion, social media marketing is a lot of different things, but essentially it's a way of creating a relationship with your potential future customers. It's a way of maintaining your relationship with your existing customers and it's a way of hopefully attracting back your previous customers. Why use social media marketing at all? The Millennial generation are growing up without having any interest in using email whatsoever. So you've got to find a way to get in front of that huge potential market, before they get to the age where they're the main buyers. And that's only a few years away. If they don't use email, and they don't respond to advertising and they don't look at magazines, and if they get all their news from YouTube and Facebook, you've got to find a way of getting your business in front of them in a natural, non-pushy way. So as you can see, it's really crucial that you learn how to use social media marketing, so that when your potential future market reaches the age when they become the biggest buying group, your business isn't invisible to them. And there are lots of easy, inexpensive, fun ways of doing that. You've just got to get your head around it. People ask me, which social media platform should I use? It all depends on which social media platform you use yourself. It depends on which social media platform your potential future customers will use. And it depends which one lends itself better to the kind of social media marketing you're going to be doing. You've got to keep flexible and you've got to keep trying the new platforms as they come out. Some will resonate with your more than others. I concentrated much more on Facebook and on YouTube, never been really into Pinterest, so I think you've got to actually be using some of these platforms yourself as a human being, but don't discount a social media platform just because you don't like using it, if you hear about other people using it. You don't want to be left behind, do you. What format should you use? Should you be using pictures, should you be using long form written format, should you be using video? The whole world seems to be going video crazy right now.

    Living With Uncertainty

Having been watching the comments in a big marketer's Facebook Lives, I'm struck by how people are always seeking certainty before taking action. Will it work for me / my business, will it work in my niche, will it work in my country? The limiting / negative beliefs and sweeping generalisations were coming thick and fast. This is in direct contrast to how I work, where I'll take an idea and get the "minimal viable version" up and running and just test, test, test! I'm actually testing using Facebook Live to record the middle part of my vzine each week now, so that I can test Social Media Examiner's assertions that Facebook Lives are a waste of time after the event, while Frank Kern says the exact opposite. Too Little Too Late? Prefer to read? Hello, and welcome to the Vzine this week. I'm going live on Facebook. I'm taking a leaf out of Frank Kern's book, and I'm going live. In the middle section of the Vzine this week is me going live, talking about entrepreneurial uncertainty because so many people seem to be seeking entrepreneurial certainty and there just isn't any such thing. So I cover the main points about what I see people needing and how to deal with entrepreneurial uncertainty and I hope you enjoy it. I'm still in Shoreham, I'm staying with the kids an extra couple of weeks, just because I can, and I'm heading back on Friday to Stoupa in The Mani. I give you a tip in the middle section this week about someone who is a natural-born marketer. And if you're interested in Greece, then you can follow her and she goes live on a regular basis and shows you the most beautiful parts of where we live.   Let's get on with the show, shall we? The whole topic of today's conversation, for the first five minutes anyway, is, living with uncertainty as an entrepreneur. Because I was just watching one of Frank Kern's live videos and he's been doing a lot recently and I was reading the comments, and one of the things I was noticing was people were seeking assurance. They were seeking assurance that things would work for them, that things would work in their market niche, that things would work in their geolocation, and they just really wanted to know that things would work. So they were looking for assurances that it would work in the real estate market, they were looking for assurances that social media marketing would work in the car sales market, and they were looking for assurances that it would work in the bug catching arena. I know Hal the Bug Catcher, from down there in Florida, and he has done great with video marketing. I don't believe there's a business that could not do well with video marketing and social media marketing. There was one guy on Frank's timeline that was asking about a banqueting hall. He'd got the job of trying to market a banqueting hall. Well, I'd be going live from every single event that that banqueting hall is hosting. I'd be going down there as a marketing person, I'd be making sure I was taking fabulous video live from the events. Or I'd be getting fabulous photos of the events and I would be turning those photos into a video using a tool like Lumen5 for example, and then I would be putting some fabulous music on top of that, and then I'd be rolling that out on my Facebook page. New Year is a good time to make new beginnings and my daughter Phoebe has decided to look for a job at a digital marketing company or other business media company. I've been running her through a few tests, all designed to enhance her self awareness. I have a good idea of her personality but there might still be some surprises. It's important to know who you are, so that you don't go applying for jobs that you would be ill-suited for or worse, that you would hate! Hello and welcome to the this week's Vzine and this week I'm going to be giving you some tips to make new beginnings easier. I'm in Shoreham, the weather's terrible but it's worse in Greece. It's been snowing in Greece for the first time in 15 years apparently! So, I'm not looking forward to going back but I did decide to stay a little bit longer in Shoreham to be with Phoebe and Nelson and miss the snow. Anyway, enough waffling about the weather. Let's crack on with the show So, I said I'd share the self awareness tools that I'm sharing with my daughter Phoebe, who's on a job quest at the moment. The first one, is, I got her to do the Wealth Dynamics Test. This was invented by Roger Hamilton and I think it's a mixture of lots of different things but it does seem to be remarkably powerful at showing people what their fastest route to the money is, or what their fastest route to success is. It uncovers your personality aspects that just come completely naturally to you, and suggests the kind of jobs that would suit you, as well as holding up examples of the kind of people who are in your Wealth Dynamics profile. I came out really strongly as a Creator Star personality type. Which means that, although I may be introvert, I'm very creative and I don't mind being on camera, or being onstage, but I'm not massively keen on big gatherings, or, if I do go to them, I enjoy them at the time, and then I need lots of time to get over them afterwards. If you know these things about yourself, you can work out the best way to be as successful as you can be, without draining yourself. For example, I need a couple of days after any speaking gig, to let the adrenalin wear off again. And now I know that, I don't try and put any important work things in straight after a speaking engagement. If you want to do your Wealth Dynamics Test, the easiest way is either to Google it, but you could be hunting around a bit, or go to my friend, JudithMorgan.com and scroll down the sidebar of her website until you see the Wealth Dynamics logo. That's the best way to find it quickly. I highly recommend them. So, mainly last week, on the blog and the podcast, I was talking about money. It's a great time of year, the New Year, to be thinking about your money, because a lot of times people think about what they want to achieve during the next year. But the other thing you can do, is make a budget for the next year. Because the one way to become financially successful is to make a big gap between what you spend and what you earn. It is what you do with the difference that counts. Starting to save it. Accumulate an emergency fund, and then when the emergency fund has got to a figure you're comfortable with, start siphoning that money off into a pot for investments. What do you invest in? You invest in things that will make you money. So,

Welcome to this weeks Vzine, in today's show I'm going to be trying something completely different, in fact I'm trying two things that are completely different. One is using Phoebe's ring light which I've just realised is not centred but it seems to be giving off a good enough light to be working with. I'm trying to decide whether I should buy one for myself basically because it does get a bit murky at home in Greece. And the other thing I'm doing differently this week, is the middle section is comprised of a Facebook Live because I'm testing some theories. Frank Kern says that if you go live every day, you get more and more engagement each day and you get more views after you stop, after, you know, you close off the Live. Social Media Examiner say they don't seem to get any views after they close off their Lives. They get great engagement and great view counts while they're Live on Facebook but then it doesn't seem to continue. Now both of them then upload to YouTube, which I obviously do anyway, and so you know, you can leave residual stuff. The only problem with the Facebook Live which you'll see, is I'm recording this with my nice little camera which gives a fantastic good recording quality, the sound's good too, and if you've got a good light then you're laughing. But the Facebook Live is not such great quality, even though I'm using the ring light, because it's filming on my laptop and I couldn't work out how to force it to use the camera instead of the laptop, so you'll see that the image quality isn't so good. What I intend to do, is carry on using the camera for the Vzine and just go Live with Facebook every day. I'm also using a new bit of software called BeLive.TV which I found really easy to use, after I forced it to connect to Facebook the first time. It took a bit of a while to work out how to do that. But I suspect it was user error. We'll see how we go with the Facebook Live middle section. Do come and join me over on my page - Facebook.com/NicolaCairncrossUK - if you want to come and see any of the live videos over there. Let's crack on with the show... Hey, okay, so here we are live and it's the first time I've used this bit of kit so be patient with me. I'm going to be talking about New Year's Eve, New Year's resolutions and all that good stuff. Did you make any New Year's resolutions? Did you resolve to change your life? Is it already too late? Have you already missed the boat or feel like there is no point in doing it now? Or perhaps you decided you were going to do something on the 1st of January and you haven't done it. There are a number of people I know who said about a week and a half ago that they would start on the 1st of January and I thought, why don't you just start now? You know, if you're that keen to do something, why wait until a certain date? I know psychologically it feels tidier but also I feel that it's showing that you have a lack of commitment and that you don't really believe that you're going to do it yourself. So what I want to do is talk to you about some of the thing...

Prefer to read? Hi, it's Nicola here and welcome back to the Vzine. It's a big week this week. I'm going to travel back to England. And I'm going to see Phoebe and Nelson and stay with them for two and a half weeks pretty much. And that all kicks off with a very early start on Wednesday morning. 4:30 in the morning I'm being picked up. That is grim. There's got to a better way. I don't know what it is. I've talked about it in my newsletter this week. So in the meantime, in the absence of a better practical solution to doing at least one early morning, horrible early morning start either going there or coming back in the winter. It's fine in the summer, because EasyJet run a lot more flights to our local airport. But in the winter, it's Athens, and that's three and a half hours away, if not slightly more. So in the absence of a better practical solution, I'm going to change the way I think about it. It's going to be great getting up at 4:30 in the morning! I'll have all that time on the coach to read and chat to my friend who I'm travelling with. And I'm going to really enjoy getting such an early start, because it means I get to England a lot earlier. And I'll have all of the rest of the afternoon and evening with Phoebe and Nelson. I'm really looking forward to it. How's that for a reframe? Today I want to talk to you about five little questions I ask myself at the end of each year. And I'd like to share with you. So the first of the questions; What worked in 2018? Well what worked for me was continuing to press on with my membership site Clicks & Leads Academy. It had quite a good take-up last year, and this year has been even better by, well, astonishing amounts, extra actually. And the main thing that really made the difference in what worked there was taking a bit of advice from my mentor. He said, "Try an annual membership." Now I could not believe that anyone would be willing to sign up for a whole year. I was offering monthly memberships. I tried it though, there's nothing to lose. 80% of people over the last year have signed up for an annual membership. Not only has it been wildly successful in that respect, but it's also been fantastic for attracting really great clients. The kind of clients who know they want to work on their business for the next year and who are committed to that and who know a bargain when they see one. So to save 30%, if you decide that you're going to work with someone for a year, is a fantastic deal. And the other thing that's worked has kept me keep nudging the membership level up. I started at $49 a month, and I'm now at £147 a month. So again, you never know what price the market will bear. What else worked this year? Hmm, getting into a regular cycle of producing content and getting a process going. So basically, I just do the bits I'm good at, the bits only I can do, like talking to camera, because nobody else can do that for me, and then getting processes in place to make sure the content is t...

Tolerations are insidious things that subliminally annoy you and sap your energy so it's really important to zap them. Prefer to read? Welcome everyone, it's Nicola here. And it's the Clicks and Leads Vzine and today I'm basking in the glow not only of some glorious sunshine, although I woke up this morning to pouring rain. It's one or the other here. It's nothing in between. None of that drizzle business. It's either pouring biblically or it's sunny. And yeah, it's absolutely amazing so I'm going out later on, which will be nice because I'll be able to sit in the sunshine. And the other thing that I'm basking in the glow of, is the deflected glow of a job well done. You know how around the house you get those niggly little jobs and, you know, I had some lights out in the kitchen and there was a light out over on those spotlights over here. And I just tried everything. I tried borrowing a step ladder. I tried getting my sister to stand on a chair. I tried getting my sister to stand on the work-top but neither of us could reach them and we couldn't work out how to get the lights out so we could go and buy some more. Finally, my landlord responded to my appeals and he came down with a very big step ladder and he kindly took all the bulbs out that were blown. I bought some more and he came back and put them all in again for me. So I'm feeling, you know, I'm feeling the joy of a toleration busted and it's an even more joyous thing when it's busted by someone else. So let's get on with the show, shall we? So I mentioned toleration busting in the intro and it's a very well known coaching tool that you sit down and you write down all the things you're tolerating. And the premise is that every toleration is a bit of an energy suck for you. So every time you look at that thing, like every time I turned my lights on and thought, "Oh, it's a bit dim in the kitchen", it was sucking a little bit of my energy out of me. And if you look around your house, there's all these things that you're putting up with and the point is that successful, wealthy people wouldn't put up with things, they would point at something and they would go,"Fix that" or "Get that done" or "Can we get that done?", and it would be fixed and they wouldn't have to look at it anymore. So it wouldn't be sucking their energy. So it's always a good idea to have a little list of things that you're tolerating and what magically happens, it happens every time I do this, every time I make a list of things I'm tolerating, someone comes along and fixes one or two of them for me. Or they just mention something that would fix the toleration or they say that they've seen something on eBay or in a local shop for example. Another thing I'm tolerating is my wood burning stove. It needs some caulking around the side of the inside bit that fits you where you shut the door. And I've had a guy around who put some caulking on and it promptly fell off again, and I've heard that you had to go to Kalamata to get caulking. But since then, I've just been occasionally aware that I need to find somewhere to buy caulking and a friend just popped up the other day and said you could get it in Kardamyli Arkwright's. So I'm going to drive over there and take a bit of the existing caulking and hopefully I'll be able to buy some more...

Welcome back, it's Nicola here with the weekly Vzine, and it's a bit of a funny time of the evening, light-wise this evening, so my camera keeps making alarming, flashing signals at me but hopefully you can see me well enough. It's pretty well-lit in here. I wanted to talk to you this week about change, and that's what I'm going to be covering in the middle section. It's got quite, quite cool here in Greece, and I understand it's even colder in the UK where I'm coming back to in a couple of weeks. But here we are still able, in the sunshine, in the daytime, to sit out in a T-shirt and, indeed, if you go out in a jumper, you really seriously suffer. So everyone has to wear layers out here at the moment because you never know what's going to happen. And the fire's going behind me. That's the wood-burning stove, so I've been out hauling wood today. Basically, they deliver it in a big pile and they dump it in your driveway and then you have to move it to where you want. But it's good aerobic exercise, so I've obviously got my gardening gloves as well because you never know what critters might be living in the bits of wood. So, yeah, it's quite a nice ritual at this time of the evening to get the fire going. I really enjoy that, and I think if ever I came back to the UK, I would definitely get a wood-burning stove or something similar because they're really efficient and they're really cosy. Let's stop me wittering on about the weather and crack on with the show, shall we? Today I want to talk to you about change It's a topic that's come up a lot over the last couple of days because I have been talking to my son, Nelson and daughter, Phoebe, and they are moving out of their dad's flat, which is a big change. They've managed to find something together, which I'm really pleased about and they're going to be doing that either between Christmas New Year, or just after the holiday period, finishes. Not before the 5th of January, I hope, because that's where I'm going to be until then, so it'd be great to spend as much time as possible with them. And, yeah, the other reason we've been talking about change actually made me feel a bit weepy, to be honest, because it's a big deal. They're growing up, and that means although they'll always be my babies, they're going to be a bit more independent babies now. And the other reason I want to talk about change was because I've been watching the Social Media Examiner series where they're talking about what is going on with Facebook Video because they're finding that their videos are doing much, much better on YouTube where people are watching them through to 60, 70 percent and not as many people watching them, but watching them for longer. Whereas on Facebook, Facebook are reporting lots of people are watching, but when you actually look at the percentage of people who drop off, it's mostly people drop off after the first sort of 30 seconds or so, so that isn't good, is it? So what to do about Facebook marketing? What to do about video marketing? Whether you need to change your strategy depending on whether you've been...

It's having a rather startling effect on the numbers that count. It's basically increased the views on my LinkedIn profile by 210%, and it's increased the views on my Twitter profile by over 100%, which is quite astonishing really. So I will be continuing with this, and if you're getting any value from the one-minute videos, do let me know underneath wherever you're seeing them. Whether that's on the Facebook page, the blog, the YouTube channel, Twitter, or LinkedIn, I'd love to hear from you. I unfortunately can't update you on what impact it's having on views on my sales pages, which is the real goal, of course, because all the power's just gone off in Greece, so I'm absolutely internet-less. Luckily my camera works without power, for a little while, anyway. So I'll try to get this content recorded for you while the power is off, and then I'm off to Write Club later, so that'll be fun with no power. We'll see what happens there. In the Clicks & Leads Academy, we have weekly live calls, where people can just pitch up, basically, and either ask me questions or just get a load of stuff off their chest, which is often what it turns into. Because they've got nobody else to talk to about their negativity, their fears, their doubts, to ask what to do next when you're feeling stuck. But what I don't do is let people wallow. I'm starting to ask people "What's your alternative?", because once you've had a little rant, or a little complain about something, then you've just got to think to yourself, what is your alternative, what's your choice, what are your choices here? Because nobody is going to listen to somebody who complains for very long. I give my clients about, oh, three or four minutes for a good ol' complain, and my best friend Kim and I have always had a policy that we get 15 minutes each to have a good old moan before we start talking about "Well, what's your alternative, what's your choice?" And so the other thing people are very keen on telling me is what they don't want. I had a client once who was a bank manager, and he knew he wasn't going to be a bank manager for much longer because the banks were getting rid of the older managers, so he knew he needed to find something else, and he didn't really know what he wanted to do. He knew what he could do, but he didn't really want to do any of those things, so we kept looking at what are his choices, what're his alternatives, and we also turned around what he didn't want into positives. Okay? So, if you don't want something that means you're going to work evenings and weekends, where does that leave you? What choices do you have where you don't want evenings and weekends? Eventually, he found his perfect business and funnily enough, it was right underneath where the bank was. It was a very thriving little cafe that was up for sale and the good news...

It's been thunderstorms and lightning, which means that the power goes off on a regular basis, and the internet goes off on a regular basis. I've bought myself a Calor gas stove, a little tiny one, so I can make a cup of tea when that happens, because there's nothing worse than not being able to have a hot drink. I've been out and about this week. I've been to writing club. I've been to reading club. I've been out for dinner, Dave's Dining Club. The ex-pats certainly know how to get a bit of action going on once the summer wears off. And I'm just off to Write Club where we're going to plan for a few episodes of WriteClubThePodcast.com over Christmas. So if you're a writer, or if you're a reader, do come along and check out that. This week, I would like to talk to you about how fairytales affect us How the stories we're told growing up, affect how we behave as adults. And the reason this was brought to my attention was because we were talking about fairytales in our Write Club podcast, and how they grew up from the folk tales, which means that they weren't invented by any government to indoctrinate us. They were invented by women telling stories around the bedside or the campfire. And I think it just grew up to reflect how life was like in the olden days. But when I think about the kind of fairytales I read when I was a child, before I went on to science fiction and fantasy, which is a grown-up version of fairytales, I think about how I had this subliminal thought that someone was going to come and rescue me at some point. And I remember when that realisation came to me that that was completely false, that nobody actually was coming to rescue me at all, not even my parents, was about when I was about 37 or 38, which is really late in life, isn't it? It really is. It came to me when I was married and I had children. And, somehow, I had this subliminal thought that at every stage in life, I would get more grown-up or that someone would come and rescue me and everything would suddenly be made alright. I remember how I felt when I realised that nobody was coming to save me. There was no prince in shining armour on a mounted steed with a sword. I'd had this feeling for so long that I'd be saved at some point, and I don't know where it came from. The only place I can think it came from was from fairytales, and, perhaps, that was my moment of growing up when I had my kids and I realised if it's to be, it's up to me, and nobody is coming, not even my parents. I think people who've got really good parents must have this problem because they must always have their parents to fall back on.

When you think you are taking loads of action but it turns out it's all going on in your head, how do you pull yourself out of the dark, negative, scarce place and work out what to do next? In this week's vzine I share what works for me and my Clicks And Leads Academy clients... Clicks And Leads is a "tongue in cheek" digital marketing Vzine by entrepreneur, author, podcaster, speaker, Nicola Cairncross. Hey, Nicola here, how you doing? I'm delighted to report some positive results from gearing up my marketing efforts again. I've been releasing a series of one-minute videos and within three days of getting those out and disseminating on social media, I have attracted a one year client to Clicks And Leads Academy which is really cool. He said he was just thinking about me and then a video went past and it just reminded him that I could help him and he came and joined up! So welcome back Mark. The first Vzine has just been edited and crushed down and is ready to go, so we are up to speed with that again. I'm recording next week's Vzine today so Phoebe's got plenty of time to work on it. I'm going to share in the middle section a long conversation I had with a client about all of this and how she is not doing her own marketing because of what's going on in her head. I hope that will help you like it helped her. Lets get on with the show, shall we? There's a big difference between thinking about something and doing something. I had a long call today - one of the Clicks and Leads Academy video webinar Q & A sessions. And just one person turned up so she got me all to herself for an hour, which I'm sure she was delighted about! She was having a right old flap because, as she said in her own words, "Nothing's happening." So I had a long conversation with her about how nothing happens without you making something happen. And sometimes the thing that you do, directly results in something completely different to what you expected. But that wouldn't have happened, unless you did something in the first place. I got her to list out everything she'd done. She's supposed to be creating a video a week for her ideal customer or client and she knows exactly who that ideal customer or client is because she's got a few of them already. So she wants to attract more people like that. She's analysed what their problems and pain and passions and purpose are and she's got a list of topics ready to go. But for some reason, she keeps overthinking things. Looking back, she was able to see that she'd only produced one video a month and two of those were not directed at her ideal clients. So we had a long conversation about that and I said I was trying to help her to put processes, simple processes, in place to get her through producing a video a week, at least. And I said, you know, the thing is batching is so good. I'm doing these daily videos at the moment and I find it so much easier if I record seven at a time. And I do the thumbnails for seven at a time. And then I get the captions done for seven at a time. And then I upload seven at a time to YouTube. And get the transcriptions done from Rev.com. And then I can go off and I can delegate the sharing of them on social media to someone else. In fact, I can delegate quite a lot of that to someone else. So that's the key, is having a simple batching process, where you do the same activity over and over again seven times. And that gets you into the flow of that activity and you get quicker doing it like that. And then think - who can I delegate this to?

I took a break from the Vzine in July and it never really got going again due to a proliferation of visitors and house guests out here in Greece. I had been a bit disappointed with audience numbers/growth and it's tricky and relatively expensive to produce, so I let it languish rather badly. Until I realised my Clicks And Leads Academy membership sales were down and in the process of analysing why, I took a look at the traffic stats to my sales pages... I realised that while the overall traffic to my website hadn't been affected by the lack of Vzine (and it's spinoff podcast), the numbers of warm prospects visiting those pages had HALVED! So I'm back and if you've missed me, do leave me a comment! Clicks And Leads is a "tongue in cheek" digital marketing Vzine by entrepreneur, author, podcaster, speaker, Nicola Cairncross. I'm going to explain why I stopped it for a little while and I'm also going to explain why I'm starting it again. In the meantime, it's mid-November and it's still glorious weather here in Greece. Interesting time of year here, because when you sit inside like this it's actually quite cool because the houses are all made to be cooler through the long summer months. So when you go outside, it can give you quite a shock as it's actually pretty warm out - it's sort of, 20, 25 centigrade in the sunshine and you get a bit disconcerted because it feels cool in the house, so you dress for winter, then you go outside, and you think, "Oh damn, I'm overdressed, it's too hot." So you have to wear layers at all times, which is a very sensible thing to do. Okay, so why have I given the Vzine a rest for, well, it was supposed to be just July and then it ended up being July, August, September and October. And why have I started it again, in fact? Well, it's an interesting lesson in watching out what you measure, because I have no way of tracking whether this Vzine was making any difference to the rate of signups of clients at Clicks & Leads Academy or not. Basically, to track where your leads and your customers come from right across multiple platforms you need to invest in some really heavy duty software like Wicked Reports - a very good bit of kit but it's a big investment, and it's a lot to set it all up. I'm not ready for it yet. The other way you can track things, of course, is by using UTM links by using Google UTM Builder. It's a way of adding a string of code to your URLs, so when you put your URL into things like blog posts or into ads, all sorts of things really, it shows you when things come into analytics on the URL, the UTM is shown. So if it says Facebook, paid ads, this campaign, this ad group, then you know that you're getting leads, and especially if you've got your goal conversion set up in analytics, to track your UTM links, it's a really good thing. Also, my Drip account measures when new subscribers have come in through a UTM link as well. Because it appends that UTM link to the person's records, so as each new subscriber comes in, I can click through and see where they came from. But it's a pain and I'm not very good at consistently putting the UTM links on. So when I was looking at my Vzine numbers, I could see that Vzine number one only really had about 400 views on YouTube. On Facebook, it was going great guns, because I was able to boost it,

Hi, it's Nicola here and I have reached that part of the year where I have to record inside because the cicadas and the birds are very noisy outside at the moment. So, you can probably still hear the cicadas but I've turned the fan off. It's going around a little bit up there. Yeah, well, what I want to talk to you about this week, is about valuing yourself and also about how to charge when there's people in other countries that charge much less than you do. But, before that, I just wanted to quickly update you on what's been going on this week. I've been out this week to cook for some friends who had a fall together. They're a little bit elderly, and I went around last night to cook, and we watched a fantastic movie called My Cousin Vinny, which I've never seen before and it was really, really funny. Really well-written and set in the 80's, so the outfits are absolutely hilarious. Highly recommend that. My friends, Kim and Jeremy, they were staying in Stoupa last week, and I ended up having a one-hour session with Jeremy like a flash briefing, if you like, for MDs because he's the MD of a big company, and he always feels like he's on the back foot when it comes to internet marketing, when people sort of say things to him about what they should be doing or parent companies come in, and in fact pitch to him. So we had a one-hour session and I brought him up to speed on all things internet marketing, so hopefully he'll be able to hold his own a bit better. He said that he had no idea of the potential for Facebook ads, particularly for one of their consumer-facing brands, and he was very reassured that everything is trackable, and you can work out exactly how much you're spending, which ads are bringing in the prospects, which ads are bringing in the sales, so he loved all that, the data-driven element of it all. So, yeah, I'm thinking of doing that, so if you're an MD or business owner and you just wanted to hire me for an hour to talk about your business, and what your strategy could be, so that you, then, can go back and talk to your team or talk to people who are pitching digital marketing services, don't hesitate to get in touch because I really liked, enjoy talking to Jeremy about that. So just email nicola@nicolacairncross.com and we can set that up for you. Let's get on with the show shall we? So this week I wanted to talk to you about a conversation I had with Sarah, my sister, who is an extremely talented tech person. I'm ever so sorry, the birds were really loud last week, and so were the cicadas, and there was that abrupt ending to section number one. That's because I was at Write Club today, and the girls were texting me, or messaging me on Slack to say I'm repeating myself, as usual, and which bit shall they cut out. Well they made an executive decision, and I'm grateful for that, because I was not contactable at the time, but anyway, it did end a bit abruptly. As you can hear, tonight was really quiet on the balcony. It's this evening, it's lovely. Gin and tonic time, you see? But just as I come out here, the scrap metal man decides to come past, and sets all the dogs off. The Alexa Skill has gone live, and it's doing very well. It's a live on all platforms, including Amazon, so if you go to ClicksAndLeads365.com, you'll find it on Alexa, and you can get your smart speaker to deliver me talking to you every morning for just a minute, giving you a little bit of motivation, and marketing, and business stuff, and a bit of money stuff as well, and I hope you really enjoy it, and if you do, would you give us a review? I'd love to hear from you, and I'd love to see your reviews. But let's get on with the show, shall we? Taking of advantage of a momentary lapse in the yapping from up the hill, I'd like to talk to you today, again, about procrastination, because I've just been to a Write Club The Podcast meeting. It's a Write Club The Podcast meeting lite - we call it that because it's one where we don't actually do any writing, we just talk about why we haven't done any writing. And I've got to say that the hardest thing I've ever done is try to make myself write a novel, and it's hard because every single time I sit down to do some of it, I am distracted by just about everything else, because making something up out of your head is really, really difficult. I find it easier to write poems, I've discovered, than write a novel, and so does everyone else in my group. They will find anything easier than writing a novel. One of them has actually finished a book, and she's now shopping it around for an agent, the other one has nearly finished a book, but she's distracting herself by going off and writing something else entirely. One person has got a book out to an editor, and so she's starting to write book two, so that's fine, we'll let her off, and the other one has been writing a book for years, not just months, years, and she is finding any reason at all not to finish it. So it is common among writers, and I think I didn't believe it, the writer's block thing, until I tried it for myself. The other thing I'm finding really difficult at the moment is sitting down and recording seven one minute tips for the Alexa Skills things. I'm fine once I get into the flow, once I sit down and get started with one or two, and then I can just rattle off the rest of them quite easily, but I think they thing is to actually sit down and just get the file out, as one of my earliest mentors said, because if you're in the right place, and you just get the file out,

There's been a lot happening this week. I've joined a poetry course, and I've written and read more poetry in one week than I have in my whole lifetime to date, it's great fun. And I'm finding that, what's the point of poetry? It's the point of capturing a small thought, or a moment in time, that perhaps doesn't need it's own story, but that you'd like to communicate about in some way. So I'm really enjoying that. Learning about the different forms of poetry. This week, I've stepped up my own 'Be Everywhere Online', social media efforts another notch. We've released the, 'Clicks And Leads 365', on Alexa Skills. It's a short daily informational tip, business tip. It will cover mindset, marketing, and money. And it's basically a one minute thought of the day. If you've got an Echo Dot, or any of those smart speakers, you can subscribe by going to clicksandleads365.com, and it should by then be pointing to the Alexa Skills platform. It's also on YouTube, so if you search Clicks And Leads 365, and then also on any podcast platform, because we are pushing it out across all our different platforms. And, I'm really enjoying making them, they're quite tough, just to condense your thoughts into one minute. But it's going quite well so far. And the reason we're doing this is because I listen to Gary Vaynerchuk on a regular basis. And he's talking about the future of Voice Search. Now Voice Search is when you just hold up your gadget and you say for example to Siri: "Find me a podcast about digital marketing." And the reason I'm doing the whole Alexa Skills thing, is because, a lot of the Voice Search, is done on the Amazon platform, through the Alexa medium. As opposed to Siri. And I want to be found there, I want to have a presence on there. I want to be found if someone searches through their smart speaker in their home. And I want them to be then led on to my website and to then choose whether to subscribe to the other podcasts, or the YouTube channel, or download the app. So, it's all about getting found in Voice Search. Now there's only about a thousands skills apparently, across the whole world, at the moment. Social Media Examiner's got some really great statistics on this. And apparently, one in every four or five Americans, have listened to a skill in the last three months, which is pretty astonishing when you think about it. And the whole thing about Voice Search, I mean people don't like to type. The amount of time it takes me to get my phone out. Finger code, whatever it is, my identity or whatever it is. Then go to Chrome, the browser, because it's not immediately on my desktop. And then type in my search, it takes a little while, doesn't it? Whereas if you could just click: "Siri, find me a podcast on digital marketing." Then it's going to be a lot quicker and it's a lot more convenient. Even people like me who are visual and who don't like auditory environments very much, I'm actually seriously thinking about getting one of these smart speakers for the house,

We were filming a series of tips for the ideal future customer or client for ClicksAndLeadsAcademy.com and where better to do that? It's quite hot though, I have to say. It's been party central in Stoupa this week. We've actually been to a couple of parties and it's been quite exhausting, let me tell you. But the good news is that we don't have to get up too early because the 2 hour time difference makes it very easy for us to look like we're getting up early, when actually we're not so much. So let's crack on with the show, shall we? So, I don't know if I've told you, I've been working through Michael Neill's Creating The Impossible book, and before you do each exercise every morning, you're supposed to Take Five, which, in my case, has actually developed into Take Fifteen, because I've moved onto Vishen Lakhiani's meditation, guided meditation, 6 Steps. And it takes you through compassion and gratitude, right through to your goals and dreams, and then, I find the 15 minutes really flies past. And what I realised this morning was that I completely forgot about Michael Neills' book. I'd gone off to England, I'd been back to my speaking gig at the International Coach Federation, and I'd come back to Stoupa and Sarah had come with me and I got completely distracted from working through the book. It's a 90-day exercise and I only got up to day 54. So today I resolved to do my 15-minute meditation and then to carry on with the exercises in the book. I am determined to finish this because I am not very good at finishing things. I'm a great starter. But I have to pass it off to other people, usually, any task, to get it completed. This is a bit of a monster mission for me, 90 days, but I am determined to see it through. And lo and behold, day 54 was something I really needed to get my head around again. Which was, How would it be if you stopped pushing and let creative force that's in the universe come through? And it actually said the word "rely" - How would it be if you relied on the creative force of the universe? Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not very keen on relying on anybody except myself. How would it be if I made space to allow the creative force of the universe to come through? So I'm determined to clear out my diary a little bit, clear out my to-do list a little bit, and just to leave some empty spaces to see what ideas the creative force, wherever it comes from, brings up in me. And then I'll put those ideas into action,

This week, I'm going to take a few moments of your time in the middle section to tell you about a brand new Masterclass I'm planning. It's going to have three sections in it. It's going to cover your business mind, your business marketing, and your business money coz those are the three things I'm most interested in. I've been teaching for the last six months how to be everywhere online and what I've realized is that people need a little bit before that. They need to have been able to make good business decisions about who they're aiming to serve and who their market is and then how best to reach them. So I realized that there was a bit missing. I've now uncovered the missing piece so I'm gonna be sharing that in my brand new Masterclass along with how to manage your money, honey, which has been an ever popular part of my trainings from the word dot. So check out the middle section. I'm gonna be covering it all in there and if you are an author, a coach, a speaker, a trainer, a consultant of some kind, or if you're just a small business owner who wants to learn how to be more successful, particularly marketing your business online, don't miss this. Check out the middle section and we'll see you at the Masterclass. So back in 2003, I bought a hotel and when after I set it up Emyth style, I went and moved on because someone else was running it for me. We came to live for a month in Greece and actually, we were just two doors down from where I'm living now. Now, that is a really spooky bit of manifesting, isn't it? The reason I was able to go away for a month at a time with my children and husband and I was able to live in different countries - we went to Greece then we lived three months in Spain - and the reason I'm able to live and work abroad now is because I follow the principles that I'm going to be teaching, a brand new Masterclass that I'll be sharing very soon. I'm gonna be covering three main topics in that Masterclass. I'm going to be covering how to set up a winning business strategy, not just one that gets you by but one that wins, how to play to your strengths, how to know which market to go into, and how to make really good business decisions and a great business plan. In the second part of the Masterclass, I'll be covering my 'Be Everywhere Online' strategy, how you absolutely must make a powerful brand online, how to dominate your social media above your competitors while only working about 20 to 40 minutes a week, how to outsource, how to build a team how to create compelling content that your listeners and viewers want to view and watch, how to be found in Google when people are searching for you, and that's all changing again soon so you need to know this one, and then how to manage your money.

It's hot in Greece and Nicola Cairncross is trying to make up lost time after a power cut knocked her internet out for a whole day. As that week had already included a big party and recording five "Write Club" episodes, scheduling a client call on a Saturday morning proved to be not such a good idea, leading to extra urgent work that made her miss the local "Royal Wedding" party, (but she enjoyed it at home while working). She's got a great business book recommendation for you though... Hi, everyone, Nicola here, and it's hot in Greece. It's like summer's come all of a sudden. It's only, what is it, mid-May, day of Harry and Meghan's wedding. I've just been having a late afternoon shower because I've been working all day. I was supposed to go to a wedding party, but didn't make it because I had a chat with a client this morning. There was some urgent stuff to be done and I wanted to do it straightaway. So I was a bit silly on that one. I should have scheduled the client call for Monday morning, and then I would have had all the work on Monday afternoon, and I would have been able to go to the wedding party. But the internet was out yesterday. We had a power cut and, for some reason, my router's not working. So I'm very kindly piggybacking on my next door neighbour's but it did mean a whole day of stuff that was scheduled didn't happen, including two new business development calls. So you have to roll with the punches on this one, and today I chose to get one of my client's work done so that on Monday I can concentrate on the new business development calls. I've still got one podcast to edit before tomorrow, that's the Write Club podcast, and I'll be doing that before I go out this evening. Just like to get everything done, then I can have the whole Sunday off, completely free of client work or any other kind of work. And I think it's important to at least have one day a week where you can just go and do whatever you want to do that doesn't involve a computer. So it's been a really busy week this week. Got back on Sunday with Sarah. Went to a party on Tuesday and then Write Club ladies came round to record five episodes of the podcasts on Wednesday. Thursday was a podcast recording day with Judith, and then on Friday, as I say, no internet. So it's been a pretty busy week, and I'm starting to think that this semi-retirement lark isn't all it's cracked up to be But we'll see what happens this week. It should calm down a bit hopefully. So let's get on with the show, shall we? Okay, so, this week I want to recommend a book to you. It's called Playing To Win by A.G. Lafley, L-A-F-L-E-Y, and it's all about why strategic decision-making can be made easier, and how important it is when you're starting out in business. Now you may have heard me recommend the book Traction many, many times. That does help you make a simple two page business plan, and it helps you set goals, timeline goals, and it helps you set the actions that you need to do. The big rocks I call them, and many other people do too. So how to get your big rocks done first. The book that I'm recommending to you now, I think, comes just before Traction. It comes when you're actually thinking about the kind of business you want to start, and who you're going to serve,

The future is very much on her mind, as Nicola Cairncross has been speaking for the International Coach Federation at County Hall on this very topic. What do you need to be thinking about in order to futureproof your business? She gets some tips on public speaking from her mate Pete Jenkins who is Chairman of GamFed and get's flown all over the world to speak on Gamification. One of Pete's colleagues ended up on the very next chair on stage with Nicola in London - small world, isn't it? What I'm gonna cover today is how to be very confident speaking live on camera. Someone in the audience has just pointed out that in fact I am not live and that is correct. Because it's much better if you record things in advance, properly. So, I'm actually just going to do a live demonstration. I'm showing people how to create a bit of content that can then go everywhere online in under 10 minutes a week. (video reel sharing highlights from UK ICF) So, as you can see we're out here in the sunshine and we're having lunch. I'm having lunch today with one of my very good friends, Pete Jenkins, who is a gamification expert. He's got his own company called GamificationPlus. And, interestingly, I ended up on stage yesterday with someone who knew Pete and his colleague Vacilis. Which was a real coincidence, it was really very strange. But it's auspicious I'm having lunch with Pete today. So, I thought It'd be really cool if I asked Pete to tell you as he does travel the world speaking live about all sorts of topics, but mainly gamification. Then he's going to give you his top three tips for making speaking live more fun, more enjoyable, and easier to do. So, I'm going to turn the camera around and ask Pete right now for his tips. Tell us where you've been recently speaking, and where you're off to. Pete - Oh let's see, three days ago, four days ago, I was in Canada, in Toronto, speaking at a serious games conference on the topic of big data and gamification. The week before that I was Mumbai, in India. My next trip, I think you asked me, is Romania. Nicola - Wow, cool. Pete - So, I do travel around a bit. Nicola - Yeah, absolutely. And what makes it easier for you, what tips would you share with my viewers? Pete - Well I'm still the sort of person who gets really nervous before going up and speaking. But I do find that one tip, which I read somewhere, it really works for me, which is just before you're going out is tell yourself you're really excited about the opportunity, not nervous. And it just, the newer science is good, it tells you that you're actually, all those symptoms of nerves are actually more about excitement. Nicola - Oh yeah, I came across that one recently and it really works, yeah. Pete - I did used to do that whole breathing, and stretching, and power posing and stuff. But quite often you're in the audience, in the front row, or whatever, and you're about to be called onstage and that can be quite disconcerting to anyone else who's speaking. So, I wouldn't always recommend that. So, you can't rely on that in a pinch. Nicola - Do you do any visualization techniques of any kind? Pete - No, I don't actually. Nicola - Oh. Pete - But one thing I actually would recommend is I like to practice my talks as much as...

As Nicola Cairncross prepares to go to the UK to speak at the International Coach Federation Annual Conference, UKICF, she reflects on the lessons learned from improvising a mosquito net bed covering for visiting ‘singing sister’ Heather Cairncross. Vzine 065 | When Everything Goes Wrong Own It! 179 | Mental Models Own It! 178 | Mary Daniels: Normal People, Noble Causes Prefer to read? Hey, Nicola here. We've had quite an exciting week this week. First of all, Heather and Richard came to stay. Heather's my singing sister, and Richard's her partner. And I was very excited about that, 'cause they've never been to Stoupa before, and I was really looking forward to showing them all my favourite places. And then, about three, they came on Tuesday. Then we had Tuesday night, Wednesday night, was last night Wednesday night? Yes, it was. And last night, we were awakened by lots of hooting, lots of banging, lots of shouting, and actually, what had happened was that somehow, a fire had started up at the olive grove. The Fire engine turned up, and lots of local volunteers. And everyone was spraying their front gardens, and the thing is, it was really, really windy last night. So, the sparks were going everywhere. So we were all just ready to put out any fires that happened in our local vicinity. Finally got to bed about, oh, 4:00, 4:30, something like that, and slept like a log until about 9:30, and then we struggled to wake up, even at that point. But we went off for a lovely day out, and we went to Limeni Village, which is one my favourite places, and went to Takis fish restaurant there. And I'll put a, I'll use a picture of Takis to illustrate this week's V-zine, and you can see how gorgeous it is there. So that's my week and I'm coming back to England on Saturday, it's my daughter Phoebe's birthday today, so happy 23rd birthday Phoebe, and I'll be back to give you a big ol' hug and your birthday present on Saturday, okay? Love you, see you soon. So today I want to talk to you about being resourceful when you don't have the right resources or you don't have any resources at all. I want to tell you about our mosquito net adventure. I really wanted to get a mosquito net up for my sister, Heather, who is as neurotic as I used to be about mosquitoes, and I bought a very big double bed mosquito net, square, so it doesn't hang down like that, it hangs like that. But it's supposed to come with eight sucker pads that go on the ceiling, and of course, I didn't even check the box, I didn't even make sure it had everything in it it should. So on the first day I unveiled this square luxury mosquito net, and then we realized that of course there was nothing to hang it to the ceiling with. So we've been pondering it for the last couple of days, and I took them upstairs to Katerina's Supermarket and the upstairs emporium bit sells all sorts of things. We were looking for sucker pads, we were looking for stretchy washing lines, we were looking for anything we could use to string this mosquito net off. And on our second perambulation around the top part of Katerina's, Richard found extendable poles, and we thought okay, we might be able to do something with that. Because the best itself is a wrought iron bed and it's got, you know, poles on the end, and someone had the bright idea that we could extend the poles up as far as we needed them and then, what are those things called? I've completely forgotten what they're called. Little plastic ties, plastic ties they're called. And we could plastic tie the poles to the bed,

It's Nicola here and I am pleased to report that I've been doing some successful DIY. I have installed a fly screen on my front door just over there. Got fly screens on all the windows and the back door there but the front door was one that didn't have one because the previous occupants had big dogs and they would've just charged straight through any fly screen. So I've been wanting one for a while. And actually my next door neighbours gave me one and I read the instructions and installed it myself. So now I am safe, not from the most pernicious kind of fly or mosquito that really wants to get through the gaps, but I'm safe from the big, buzzy beetles and the hornets that regularly buzz in and for some reason get attracted to this window so they buzz right past my head when I'm in the middle of doing something like this which isn't great. So, very pleased with my DIY efforts. Had a lovely weekend. Been really nice and sunny. It's sunny all the time here now. And I'm inviting some friends for dinner tonight who are just about to go home to England. So I'm looking forward to cooking later. In business terms, my 30 Day Challenge, my first 30 Day Challenge has just finished and it's been incredibly successful. Lots of people have taken action. Lots of people are getting results. They're attracting new clients, attracting new leads. And that's been brilliant. I've really felt very encouraged by that. Lots of fantastic testimonials coming out of that first 30 Day Challenge too. I'll be running the next one probably towards the end of May. So come along to NicolaCairncross.com and click on the menu at the top and you'll see, I think it's in products and services, and you'll find the how to get onto the list for the next 30 Day Challenge. I look forward to working with you. So this morning, I had to put together my half a page for the International Coach Federation. I'm speaking there on the 8th of May. And I'm really looking forward to it because its going to be about 500 coaches, consultants, and trainers all of whom are eager to hear about the latest news and how they can market themselves better and get more clients online as well as be the best coaches, consultants, and authors they can be. And I was putting my thing together and I was thinking what is my main passion and mission in life? And I was thinking about the 22 years experience I've had marketing myself 100% online as a coach. I did a fair bit of networking in the early days but it didn't really work and I didn't really enjoy it. So it's all been online ever since. And from that distance of 22 years I think the one thing I want to share on this day, excuse my phone beeping, the one thing I want to share on this day is that people have got to catch up. You've got to catch up. I've been trying to teach everyone how to market themselves online for 22 years. And its all changed again. Social media changed everything in about 2006. We moved from static websites,
